Has your water changed? We have sulphur water at our camp and after only a few days up there all my silver rings are black. Once I am back home within a week or less they are back to normal. I am too lazy to clean them every time and just let them naturally return to normal. I assume that it is the sulfur that causes it. But maybe there are other elements/additives that do the same thing? Hmmm... that's a really great question. I don't *think* so.. lately it's all been either city water, or water in hospitals (I work in hospitals.) But now that I think about it, I have been to a person's home that has well water a bit recently... I had well water at one of my homes I've had since I've been wearing these rings.. but I didn't bother (too lazy) with the salt I was supposed to add to the water softener. I wonder if maybe that matters at this other person's home? If I'd just keep wearing them they could go back to normal? I still have the Caribbean ring here. In my case, they do as long as I am no longer using the water at our camp for a few days. If the source is there they stay black…you should see them after two weeks up there 😄

I think we got a lot of beautiful color and areas this year. I was skeptical in the beginning. Hahaha. Northern Vermont and higher elevations are getting past peak. Champlain Valley and central Vermont is close to over, although some nice colors still out there. Southern Vermont 🤷🏻♀️. I have not seen it. I would assume getting close to peak. this was taken 10/2 this was 10/4 this was taken Friday outside my condo. Not really foliage related but isn’t she cute.

While I understand the whys and know that changes need to be done I kind of feel that at this time the cart is being put before the horse. I have not read the whole thread so it may have already been mentioned but I think the electrical grid needs to be fixed first. Look at the rolling blackouts now and the pleas for California residents to reduce their electrical usage when it got so warm just a bit ago…what would have happened if all of the vehicles also needed electricity to charge? Also all those batteries will definitely have an impact on the environment. So I agree something needs to be done, but it does us no good to jump from one disaster to another. We need to really make things better, not just slap on a bandaid. Fix the failing grid first and then we can, hopefully, fix the rest. Not that both can’t be worked on at the same time…but it is going to make no sense to require all vehicles to be electric if our infrastructure can’t handle it IMO. Now off to read the rest of the thread. ETA - I am glad your neighbors were okay hennybutton and that the fire was contained and the rest of your neighborhood was spared. That is scary…I am not even in a state that has to deal with wildfires, for the most part, but fire scares me.

That looks really cool. I hope you enjoy your weekend. For just a couple of nights I would bring a cooler, premade food, snacks, and drinks, and the other things people have mentioned such as my own pillow (as I do that typically unless I am flying). I am not a coffee drinker so that is not something I would worry about.
I would make sure that I brought a flashlight or battery lantern and slip on shoes for quickly going inside and outside.
Have fun and can’t wait to hear how it went.

Well I am not trying to perpetuate anything. People were asking I was answering as I remembered. It is a community, if you’ve been here long enough and often enough you remember things. I have tried not to be unkind, demeaning, or dismissive of anyone here. I would say to BB exactly what I posted if she asked if I remember her. Whether is taken as something other than that I have no control.
I have never been part of a community (all in real life, this is the only online place I have ever posted) where information is held in a vacuum and not discussed or passed around. Unfortunately for an online message board that is online, on open threads. IRL you can stand at the water cooler or fence and converse with just a few so when things are so open it makes it feel like any discussion is a pile on or talking in front of the person…and I guess it is. I have never had anything but empathy or offered BB anything but good thoughts and that has not changed.

Well I don’t want to be thought of as a pussy or as spreadsheet keeper…oh gosh what do I do? 🤷🏻♀️😉😄
My recollection as a low level not known pea, who has just been here for a longtime, who remembers a lot ( although much of it vague things) that has happened through all the years - but was never involved or had inside information, just what I read in the post. I didn’t post back then and am not known now but assume if I remember this others that have been here as long do also. But I could be very wrong and this may be a totally wrong and a incorrect memory… which is why I hesitate to put it out…but see my first sentence. 😉
Again I will probably regret putting this out there and I have no details, but I always thought (but would never swear to it as I could be very very wrong and get many things wrong) that BB use to go under another name and had the avatar picture of the stomach with the sun? or moon?or stars? tattoo?
There was something that went down and it might have been happening around the time of her first divorce. It seemed she disappeared (not sure if for board drama or IRL drama) for awhile and when she came back she was moving/in Florida with Gary and was happy. Not sure if it was immediately known what her old pea name was, but it seems like it eventually came out. She was forgiven, ignored, or accepted for who she was and in a very rare pea occurrence her old pea name was never mentioned or thrown back on her. And time and pea life went on. If I was asked what my recollection was this is what it would be, BUT AGAIN it might not be the actual situation just my incorrect recollection.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. Just so you know, Apple will save your photo twice. Once as a jpeg and then also as a 'movie' file. So if in the future you download them to your computer or somewhere, you'd just choose the jpeg. I actually go through and delete all the '.mov' files as I never need those. More good information. So much to learn…hahaha.

I have always used my camera for taking photos and have only recently gotten a new iPhone, so I have never printed pictures from my phone photo library.
I accidentally took all the pictures at my grandmother’s 100th birthday in Live mode. 🤦🏻♀️ I want to upload them and print them. Do I need to go in and “edit” each one by picking one of 3 second stills and turning off the live part or can I just pick the picture from my photo library and upload it? Thanks for any help.

None of us knows, during any thread pile on, if there are extenuating circumstances for the person on the receiving end. I think the question we are all asking is, “Why now?” We’ve had eight years of some brutal threads and peas deciding to leave. What is making that particularly mild thread the exception? No threads were locked to keep other peas from leaving. I think admin has been pretty clear that we are unmoderated. I’d like to know if that is changing. This is exactly the way I feel. There have been plenty of threads that were absolutely unjustified pile ones and peas left. This was not a pile on, so why was it locked when others were not. I honestly think that the curiosity about that is justified. I also realize the admin doesn't owe us any explanation and we aren't likely to get one. To me that is perfectly fine, but I do think it is natural for people to wonder and want to discuss this unprecedented event. We are peas after all. I do not think that the locked thread was really harsh on the op. I am wondering if previous threads that had much harsher comments were not locked because those that started them did not ask for them to be but instead just left? It really does not matter to me one way or the other…but I will say that I prefer/appreciate the hands off/less moderation from the admin for the most part. Unless safety or extenuating circumstances (names/personal information given) I think people can leave if they are no longer enjoying their time here.

Someone on here recommended the Baleaf thermal leggings on Amazon awhile ago. I now have 4 pairs, they are cheap and have the side pocket which I love. I believe they also have regular leggings, which I keep meaning to go look at, but I have actually wore the thermal/insulated ones most of the year. I have a huge selection of leggings and these and my Danskin ones with the side pocket are my favorites. Good luck.

It is a beautiful area. I am at our camp now, I came up for 2 last days before we close it up next weekend. The leaves are really starting to fall, foliage is pretty close to the end now. This morning it was in the high 20’s and the lawn and deck (and cars) were all frost/ice covered. The steam/mist off the pond was heavy and it was a bright hunters moon last night. Our kid loon has gone (the parents leave first) so I know winter is coming. But it is beautiful no matter what the season.

So am I to understand from this thread that the US doesn’t have any sort of medically assisted death laws in place? None at all? I don’t know why but I didn’t realize that. I can’t explain why, but somehow the fact that her suffering was from a traumatic event seems even more heartbreaking. Because trauma treatment has improved in n the past few years, I guess I naively assumed that all trauma is now treatable and “recoverable”. Clearly I was wrong. Canada has medically assisted death laws which currently include only physical, fatal illnesses. Next year it is expected to expand to include mental illness and long term illness that causes suffering. It’s super complex. I’m for dying with dignity and would take that option if I was faced with an illness and death like my mother faced. But as I’ve been learning more about it, it’s so tricky to get the law right. And even then, people who don’t have resources might be at higher risk of wanting to use MAiD because they don’t have access to treatment or quality of life options that others have. It is a state by state decision. I think Oregon was the first. New Jersey has passed one a few years ago, but I think it is in the courts right now. I have a living will, a DNR as well as a DNI. It is in writing, let me go. There are like 10 states that have death with dignity laws I think. I know that my state, Vermont, is one.

Rotaries must be big news as we have one in the news also. Ours isn’t even completely done yet (very very close) and nowhere as big. A change in traffic patterns definitely is new here. 😁 New roundaboutI'm surprised to see it referred to as a roundabout in the article. I'm from NH and had only ever heard them called rotaries until I lived in another state. My dad grew up in Vermont (way upstate though), and always called them rotaries too. I was surprised that they used the word roundabout myself, as we also always refer to them as rotaries. We are getting a lot more of them around Vermont. All I could think of is the article was written by a non Vermonter/New Englander. A lot of the Local TV stations hire young out of state people. I go through 2 just to get up to our camp by Cabot/Hardwick. 😁

I’ll also add that I’m always warmer when my butt is covered. So I like my coats to be long enough to cover my butt. I’ve even seen longer length vests online this fall that would be a good option. Unless it’s really cold I wear ear muffs instead of a hat. Otherwise my hair gets all sweaty and gross. I love love love the longer down vests, which I wear as inside vest.. I have 3 or 4 from years past (I haven’t looked for any this year). Some from Land’s End. And some from Duluth Trading. I think he fit of the Duluth is better but it is a bit longer than the Land’s End ones. I prefer the length of the Land’s End.

It is a prank but I don’t know on who. I took it to be like when someone wears the headband thing on their head with the arrow going threw - like they were shot. This is. Like their tank was hit with a missile but it is on a headband? But could be way way off.

I'm sorry it finally got you! I'm still a holdout. Also they have removed the mask mandate at a lot of hospitals including mine (though of course you can still wear one if you want to, and should if they are symptomatic for resp diseases) and I'm living free and unmasked. I doubt I'll ever get COVID at this point but you certainly prove it could still happen. I hope you're better soon! It’s hard to imagine no masks at a hospital right now. I go to PT and masks are optional snd there are tons of elderly. Ours is still requiring them in patient areas and for visitors. We have a high census and have 20 Covid patients, none in the ICU though.

Thanks for all the replies. I am in a rural mountainous state and even around BUrlington (our big city 😉) I would lose the signal. I hate if a song that I love is on and is interrupted. I did always play the game of continuing to sing and see if I could come out in the same place as Sirius when it came back. Some songs I was spot on, often I was not. Anyway it just seemed so aggravating and consistent in that it was little burst here and there and every where that it wasn’t worth it. Now I just do Radio if I want random or playlist. 😉😆.

I am a night owl, but also don’t really sleep late. I have issues with sleep and always have. I work 2nd shift and have for over 20 years.
Prior to this 20 year stint, I worked at a Bank for 15 years where I started in the check/transaction processing area. We started at in the afternoon and went until finish…which could be before midnight or 2 or 3 in the morning or later depending on the volume of transactions to process and balance. I then moved to the supervisor/manager position which was more day hours and it was a very difficult transition and I never felt totally comfortable with those hours.
Short answer is I think you can alter it but not sure that you can actually change it…at least I have never been able to.

It isn’t on Apple Music. I have (pretty sure) the CD Short sharp shocked, but haven’t listen to it in years. I will have to go looking now. I’ve forgotten about it. I am not sure you will be able to find it with all I read, unless you have an old cd or something. I would start looking at thrift stores or places that sell old or used CDs if you really want it hear it. Thanks for the flash back.
I was shocked (😉😄) to read the Wikipedia entry on her and did not remember hearing about all the controversy with her saying she was the biggest homophobe at a Christian event and a lot of other info including her growing up Mormon. Although she did say there was a lot of disinformation in her Wikipedia entry.
On her own website she says:
That’s probably more background than you needed. But here’s my point: I’ve done the impossible. Using the dull sledgehammer we call DMCA takedown, I have enforced my intellectual property rights by deliberately withholding my work, in order to demonstrate the scale of the creative destruction. Any of my work you find on the Internet is an unlicensed bootleg. You won’t find my work on iTunes. Not on YouTube. Not on Amazon. Not on Spotify. If 80 year-old consent decrees and 110 year-old compulsory licenses didn’t protect corporate predators, my work wouldn’t be on Pandora or SiriusXM either.
Thirty four years into a career with complete ownership of an amazing, critically-acclaimed, internationally-recognized catalog, and I have managed to extricate myself from the biggest bootleg operation the world has ever seen. I’ve paid a high price, certainly. I’ll continue to search for alternatives where creative control and artistic integrity might be practiced beyond our digital dystopia. The current degree of DMCA dysfunction offers little light at the end of a very long tunnel, either for new or legacy artists. The .01% of artists who receive 90% of the streaming revenue may be the names you’ll recall. But for the 99% of us dying at a rate of extinction faster than the Amazon tree frog, the songs we wrote that you never heard will be all that remains of our story.
