Absolutely true. This principle was pointed out on the Sermon on the Mount when Jesus said that hating someone is equivalent to murder, as that’s where it starts.

While I agree that texts, calls, and emails, ( FaceTime is great!), especially if there are pictures, I have actually increased my card sending during the pandemic, and my DIL has directed DGD4 to do also. My thinking is that we are so isolated from others right now, and any occasion to receive something handwritten and thoughtful is a good thing.
I’ve sat down with my cards and literally combed through my contact lists to find people I want to thank, encourage, console. That reminds me, a friend just lost their grandmother, gotta go get the cards.

Thought provoking. It’s especially relevant in media like ads, where quick scenes or still pictures are used as a kind of shorthand to tell a story, purposely building on the foundation of stereotypes and common mythology to elicit a response.

I agree this would have been better if it were clearer what the men were portraying.
But I thought most of the other skits were hilarious! It was a good night for SNL

Not only am I not hesitant, not only did I make an appointment as soon as I was eligible, but today, when I suffered an extremely severe vertigo episode, I still insisted my DD drive me ( torture when experiencing vertigo) to the vaccination site and back as I refused to miss my appointment and have to start from scratch.
I was so grateful to get home, DD helped me undress and get in bed with the room spinning and nausea churning, but as God is my witness, I got that shot!!!
8 hours later, and the dizziness has almost passed. And I look happily at the bandaid on my arm.

Finally finished Penmarric by Susan Howatch It was long (1000+ pages), but good. I read it on my kindle and was only 7% done but felt like I had been reading it forever and told my dh I was going to quit the book. It just seemed really slow and I didn't like the main character. Then the story starts to be told by a different character and it hooked me back in. After that the pace of the rest of the novel picked up and was really good. If you want an epic story about relationships of a complicated family this book is for you. 4/5stars Oh my, this takes me back! Ms Howatch had five epic books written in this style. My favorite was the Wheel of Fortune but Cashelmara was excellent also. Including Penmarric, these three are loosely based on the Plantagenet family. The other two, The Rich Are Different and The Sins of the Fathers are based on Caesar, Cleopatra, and Mark Antony. But if you didn’t know that, it would not spoil enjoyment of the books at all. I remember being utterly amazed by the way she could take me completely into the different characters’ heads, this was my first experience with this type of novel, and frankly, no one has ever done it so well.

If this were fiction, we’d all be scoffing at the unbelievable factor! Amazing. I’m so glad the couple can continue their life, and hopefully there will be a better that usual DIL/MIL relationship.

(Sadly, lots of grocery store shoppers also seem not to be self-aware.) why does every thread have to off track, political or Covid related when it’s a relatively simple question? Please tell me you meant this with humor?

I read somewhere that most dogs aren't self-aware - they don't actually comprehend that their physical body exists and that it is the thing impeding your progress. (Sadly, lots of grocery store shoppers also seem not to be self-aware.) Best post I’ve seen all day Our very large hound (!) is always in the way. Always.

While the Big Island is my favorite place, Kaua’i is a close second. Those gorgeous, uncrowded beaches! And so laid back.
But the Big Island has the most Aloha. Sure, you have to work harder to find the good beaches, but it’s so worth it. And the volcano is so fascinating,( although my relatives there are so tired of the vog, and if you have respiratory issues think twice). There is just so much to explore on Hawaii. I haven’t been in three years and I miss it so much.

My adult kids were the first to discover signs that XH was cheating and brought it to me. I already felt that honesty, ( about his alcoholism amongst other issues), was the best approach with my kids. Because 1) they are not stupid and can see a lot for themselves, and 2) my mom lied and kept things from us as kids, and I hated it.
So while there are a lot of things I have not shared with them about our marriage, the basic fact of his infidelities was a given.

I’ve tended to wear classic clothes that aren’t trendy. I know what shapes work with my body And what colors look good with my skin tone.
My daughters and DIL are very opinionated about my clothes, they want me to look my best, so they tell me if something makes me look like a “fuddy duddy” or is unflattering. I appreciate the help. I don’t mind looking my age, I just want to be cute.

I’m the same size.
I’m not exercising enough as I don’t feel safe going to the gym. I should walk more.
My face and body are aging fast ( I’m 63).new wrinkles, tell tale thickening mid waist. I can tell by zoom that my friends and other peers are putting more effort into looking young than I am. I’m just thinking , “what does it matter”. I almost never wear makeup. 75 % of my wardrobe is gathering dust.
I just may emerge from this with a simpler, more pragmatic approach to my appearance.

There’s a pretty common hairstyle among aging celebrity women. Think Goldie Hawn. But, really, most of them. Face framing layers with bangs. IT hides forehead wrinkles, receding, facelift giveaways. THis look wouldn’t be so popular if it didn’t work.

If this is the right move, Sandy, you can do it. After the terrible way your marriage ended, I understand not wanting to lose your house, but maybe it and the job are tying you down and preventing you from finding something better. That was resourceful of you to get the hosting gig, but with that dried up, it looks like the writing is on the wall.
You have been wasted working for that crazy lady, I’d love to have you work somewhere that appreciates you. Without the students, you are free to choose whatever job fits you best.
I’ve heard Austin is a great place to live!
