I find that a lot of older people with diabetes THINK they can't have sugar....and then they go eat things high in carbs. If I were receiving homemade candy, it would make my day if the gifter made regular candy and included the nutritional information and serving size based on the ingredients they used. I could then eat an appropriate sized serving.
If they are doing "exchanges" rather than counting carbs, one exchange is roughly 15 carbs.

Was it supposed to be 2 tiers? Or had you agreed on a different number of tiers.
I think I would go back - or maybe let DD and DH go back - and make sure she knows how disappointed you are. I really understand not saying anything on the spot; it isn't like you could refuse the cake - you didn't have a backup cake. I guess you need to go in knowing what you want - an apology, refund, etc. At least you got a good story out of it, once the sting goes away!
I had a weird experience with a baker recently. They are well-known and highly recommended. I sent a number of sample pictures, and there was something they couldn't do on each of them. I ended up requesting a pretty plain cake, and I bought some of that edible lace like in your picture elsewhere (and considered buying the mold to do it myself, but I didn't have the confidence to do that). The cake was beautiful in the end, but it was more work than I wanted to get it there.

I enjoyed S-Town, too. While I was listening to it, I drove through Alabama and passed signs to a lot of the places that were mentioned.
I really mostly listen to complete fluff while I am doing other things. I enjoy podcasts about TV shows I am watching (mostly shows like Survivor and Big Brother), Harry Potter topics, and occasionally Disney or Universal coverage.

I have one who is a total sneak. I usually keep new toys inside until they start to get boring, and then I will let them go outside. Gingersnap will put the new toy entirely in his mouth (or as much as possible) and ask to be let out in hopes of sneaking the toy outside!
He also waits until no one is looking and steals any food that is out. Bella takes serious issue with her food being stolen.
He also loves taking a run around the woods behind our house and the neighborhood, but he never tries to sneak past me or DD. If someone visits us though, he tries to bolt past them as they leave.

I haven't seen anything specifically like that, but have you tried looking for a "vegan" coat? That might help with the search.

I think my DD would really thrive under a 4 day a week situation, so I would lean toward that one. That said, it would have been hard when she was little, though I'm guessing daycares and "camps" will sprout up to address the day off for younger kids.

I would not hesitate to contact an Etsy shipper and ask if they could get it out before 6 weeks or if you could pay extra for faster shipping.

I think the union park makes it more complicated and is probably what the boss is worried about. It seems like the manager's manager should find the written policy rather than assuming it will cause problems. I have both accepted a retraction and later, for the same employee, denied the retraction.
Frankly, in my experience, this shows that the guy is out there actively pursuing other opportunities, so hopefully he'll get another offer and leave anyway.

It seems like Kim got onto one of your DD's devices and saved her login/password. If your DD has a password manager that works across devices, maybe Kim saved it on the computer and DD somehow clicked the wrong login on the phone. Or maybe Kim picked up the phone when DD wasn't paying attention. I think that is more likely than DD hacking your DD's Instagram or vice-versa.

I have a jewelry box where I keep items that I don't wear often, but I keep "every day" items visible. For necklaces, I have a coat rack on the wall where they hang. For earrings, I have a 3-sided earring tree that rotates. I do wear the visible items more often than the ones that are tucked away.

You seem to be leaning towards option C, so go with that one! I went up to a king (a whole new bedroom set) after my ex moved out, and I love the space and height of the bed. I went with what made me happy, and you should, too.

My GYN offers one periodically at my well-visit exam. She has me sign a form saying yes or no. While it certainly could be more given that you have reason to mistrust, it also could be as simple as, "Hum...I've never had one. Why not check Yes this year?"

I would go to the Hallmark store and get a set of paper/envelopes. I would guess that someone asking for generic stationary probably enjoys writing letters and likes to have several different types of stationary to choose from at any given time. Maybe something like this set. To round out the price, I would probably add some seals or something like that from the same section.

It completely depends on the year. I often give large gifts at Christmas when it is something I will be buying shortly anyway. Might as well make it a gift so that I don't have to also buy gifts. This year is a huge one - an instrument. But last year, I don't remember buying much (which probably means I spent too much on junk).

I have left a note before, and that worked. I also spoke to the FedEx man through my Ring doorbell recently and asked them to leave a package - that worked, too!
At one time, either FedEx or UPS had a method to indicate that you wanted a package left on the tracking page. I don't remember which though, and I haven't noticed it recently (but maybe I just haven't looked at the tracking for one that needed a signature).

Just pushing this to the top... any tips?? Check out the Disney sites. I am positive that there are really good deals to be had.
Not like there used to be. You can sometimes get a good deal on a cruise where you just pick the class, not the room, but Disney doesn't discount much. Their prices are cheapest opening day and tend to go up from there. Disney is a great cruise line, but they have priced me out.
With a 12 year old, I would look at 1) which cruise lines have good kids' clubs and 2) travel costs to get to the port you want to sail. I've been pricing New Orleans cruises, because that is an easy drive for me, rather than having to fly elsewhere. However, will your DD go to a kids' club alone? Mine didn't really want to at that age - so she stuck with me most of the time.

Is this a group of people that is very close having the shower among themselves? I can see this happening in our book club or sorority alumnae chapter, especially for the first grandma in the group. I would be surprised to receive an actual invitation to this though.
DD's girl scout troop did a big sister shower when they were about 9. That was sweet - the girls picked out things their friend could use with the new baby. And, for the record, it was more than a little alarming when the "baby" was old enough to be by herself in the bathroom at last week's football game.

This thread has made me more grateful for my Ring doorbell. It records everyone who comes to the front door, so I'd be able to see what the mail carrier dropped on Tuesday and whether anyone took something from the porch. Any chance a neighbor has a camera that catches your porch?

I've made my list, so that is practically through. I'll order everything online, so it is just a matter of placing the orders.

I can, though I never think to do so. I wish I had thought of it when I made a big Christmas purchase a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky to see the UPS man on my Ring on my porch writing the "we'll try again tomorrow" slip and was able to get him to leave it in a safe place.

While I don't think it is necessary to know the history behind Hamilton (it is presented very well), if you want a head start, this is a good synopsis: Hamilton Story.

I occasionally change socks at night if the pair I wore all day is too thin, but for the most part, I wear one pair a day. I actually bought some really thick, soft socks last night, and I am looking forward to putting those on this evening.

Most of the time, they are pretty on-spot, but weather is just unpredictable at times. Or, rather, our science isn't there 100% of the time yet. When a storm is in the Gulf, I'm never completely comfortable until I see where it makes landfall. There have been enough to turn at the last minute or even jump back out to sea and hit somewhere else that I know better than to stop watching based on the forecasted path.

This reminds me of this article I read yesterday: Article about social media in middle school. Neither of these reflect my experience with a teen who grew up while social media was blossoming, but seeing a mom concerned about how her child will perceive their popularity in later years based on Instagram likes shows me a little more about where this perspective is coming from.

Cornbread (cooked in cast iron)
How does the cast iron affect the corn bread? Do you cook it on the stove or in the oven?
Everything tastes better in cast iron! It goes in the oven. Because of the weight of the pan, you get a nice brown top, but the sides/bottom are still soft and don't burn. Pineapple upside down cake is another one that I consider cast iron to be the perfect cooking vessel. You basically cook a caramel on the stovetop, lay down pineapples, and pour the batter on top before baking. So good.

We have pumpkin, pecan, and apple pies. There are only 5 of us this year, but it takes 3 pies to make everyone happy! I'll eat a sliver of pumpkin and pecan then insist that my brother take them home so that they don't come to my house to tempt me.
