interesting list, but since I'm not from the south at all, I have no input in the list (except for this: pound cake-- yum!!). But I do have a bit of a tangent question: why doesn't Florida 'get to' (or why isn't Florida considered) part of *the South* ?? After all, it's the southern-most part of the contiguous 48 states. Is what we think of as the iconic *South* really more specifically just the south-EASTern states? Actually, my question could go for Texas, too, as well as Arizona and any other states that are actually ON the southern US border. Although I know Arizona is it's own SouthWEST, and Texas probably has elements of each (the iconic South and Southwest...) if those states aren't considered part of *the South* then that leads even more credence to my idea that "the South" is meant more for just the south-eastern states. ...just a thought that popped into my head, a la ameliabloomer. (and I've seen that Bitter Southerner website linked here before, I think-- it's pretty interesting!)
I do consider FL part of the South and the Southeast, but I think the number of snowbirds who live or co-live in FL helps with the perception that it is more of a melting pot from different areas.
If you need broader evidence, University of FL and TX A&M are both part of the SEC, and that is right next to the Bible in order of importance!

We eat other things, too, for the record. My normal meal would be a piece of chicken and some vegetables, or I might make a big pot of chili or taco soup to last several days. Fried chicken, for instance, is occasional or at least for "Sunday after meetin'." I pretty much never eat all the starchy sides - steamed broccoli, a side salad, and mixed vegetables will be choices as well.

Crawfish etoufee Shrimp and grits Gumbo Jambalaya Red beans and rice Shrimp po boys I'm visiting in Louisiana right now, so that's my list.
I like your list, and that is my kind of food. However, I would call that Cajun, not Southern, even though Louisiana is Southern. If I were to go to a Southern restaurant, I wouldn't expect a Cajun menu, and vice-versa.
My list would have to include:
Fried Chicken Sweet Tea Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Ham (even though I don't really like ham) Cornbread (cooked in cast iron)
Grits Creamed Corn Lima Beans
Mac & Cheese Collard Greens (I don't like Greens either.) Cornbread Dressing, NOT Stuffing
Pecan Pie (pronounced pah-cahn)

My coworkers and I go together for our boss. She fights hard for us, and we all spend a lot of time together. She will spend more on us than we spend on her in the end though. She buys us each a nice gift, and I know she isn’t reimbursed by the company.
I don’t expect anything from my staff, and I usually buy a meal or small gift for them. They weren’t very appreciative of the expensive meal I bought last year, so I’ll do something different this year.

I might think about it if it was a gooey chocolate cake, and it was cold outside.

Not being rude, I swear .... why would someone need this if most phones have Siri or the Google Assistant? Honestly curious. It's just a dot for your car? Or did I miss something?
Alexi is smarter than Siri. Siri almost always just displays web results for me, which doesn't help when driving.

There is nothing better than a FROZEN Snickers, but no other chocolate is eaten cold in my house.

I hate mine, too. And I had NO issues with the same company when I had an HSA. I haven't had access to my card most of the year because they suspended it when they didn't find an expense medically necessary. I, frankly, don't find that to be any of their business - it was clearly a medical procedure. I suspect they just don't think the diagnosis code on the EOB matches the procedure, but this doctor doesn't deal with insurance (or this by extension) at all.

You may feel a little freer after your close family members know. Ask your doctor for something to help you sleep - lack of sleep makes everything worse. I definitely asked a couple of people to help spread the information, because I couldn't do it emotionally. The rumor mill really worked for the first part, but just a couple of weeks ago, someone asked about my ex - it didn't reach this person over the course of 6 years!
ETA: I really didn't mind questions, but my normal answer was, "Oh, we'll need a couple of beers for this one."

Other than the computer part, this actually seems a little old fashioned to me. DD(16) was never drilled on her math facts, and she would have been much better off, IMO, if she was. I know this is awful now, and you definitely don't want her to end up feeling like she isn't good at math, but being able to do simple addition and subtraction (and soon multiplication and division) quickly and accurately will be a good thing when she gets a little older.

I work with a cheerleader dad, so I asked him. He said it was meant to infer the big stadium where the last playoff game will be played, and they didn't think it through since they had limited time to come up with the themes for the week (didn't want to be too hopeful about winning the first round of playoffs). Pajamas would apparently be the correct attire if the kids are dressing up for the "Dreaming" part of the phrase.

I was really hoping someone else had better thoughts than me. I think prison is the most likely theme, but that isn't really the positive message I want to be sending our teens.
I would ask. That's weird. Is your daughter high school aged? What did she say it meant?
She has no idea....but she isn't the best reference for stuff like this! It has to be a really fun theme to catch her attention. It feels like this is the 75th dress up week this year. It has gotten a little old.

If someone said to you they are "Dreaming of the Big House," what would you take that to mean? This is today's theme for spirit week leading up to a playoff game against our biggest rival. When I dropped DD off this morning, I didn't see any kids dressed up, but it was cold and raining, so clothing wasn't obvious.
We're not in Michigan...though I recognize that they do call their stadium the Big House. The last playoff game will be played at a stadium called The Rock, so Dreaming of The Rock would make complete sense. We have a "Big House" at the local Episcopal Camp, but that certainly isn't the meaning either. Maybe the football team is dreaming of all the riches this game will bring them (?). Which leaves me with prison, which was my first thought, or a large home with servants quarters.
Please tell me that I am missing a pop culture reference. What would Dreaming of the Big House make you think of?

My plan is very exciting - it is the first day in months with no plan at all! We won our freezing playoff football game last night, so DD and I may go shopping for some warm clothes in preparation for next week (and winter, but counting on one cold week is easier than counting on a whole cold season).

What is your end goal? It sounds like you might be looking for more travel info than a monogram?
You could do a heat stamp or have a fabric label made that could be sewn onto the bag.

None of us have exchanged keys (as far as I know), but if I needed to grant someone entry into my house, we could communicate via Facebook (I have very few neighbor phone numbers or email addresses) and I could give them a code.

I have heard a lot of statements like this in the past few days. I'm not sure why it is a surprise that white women in a conservative Southern state vote for the more conservative candidate. And many of these women may be single-issue voters. That doesn't make it against their own interest; it only makes it against what other people believe is against their interest.
I fall squarely in the middle, and Stacey is far to the left of me (while Kemp would be far to the right), so I would expect women who fall to my right to vote for Kemp. The women I know who consistently vote republican are just as articulate and passionate as those who consistently vote liberal. I think we are undervaluing the women if we try to pretend that any more than just a small percentage in either direction are brainwashed.
Regardless, I adore Stacey, and I am terribly proud of my friend. She did much better than I initially predicted, knowing the limited amount I know about Georgia politics, and I am very glad she is making sure every vote is counted.

I would let some of these things go - the temperature, for instance. Who wants to be cold or hot in their home? Safety issues are a different matter though, and I'd try to combat those.
I would be tempted to put the stove/oven on a timer so that it automatically shuts off after some amount of time. DD should request a lock that automatically locks when closed for the door. Super annoying, but better than coming home to a burglary.

My parents always locked up, so I had a key. My DD does not now - and neither do I! We put code locks on the main doors, though I do have a spare stashed in the garage in case the locks stopped working or in case I needed to unlock the patio door with a key.

Garage placement is a deal breaker for me when buying a home. I hate the ones where the garage doors are at the front of the house, unless the house is wide enough that it only occupies a small portion of the front view. I don't want to look at HOUSE and see mostly GARAGE.
Mine is in the rear left corner of the house - it faces the driveway and is not in the backyard, but it is only visible from the side of the house.

I normally push, though I'm also a multi-tasker, so taking the trash down, for instance, I might push the big can and pull the little one.
Then, when I was pushing band props last week, I would randomly switch around and pull instead.
I mostly push the grocery cart (we call them buggies, but people from other places tease us), but if DD is pushing, I usually keep a hand on it in the "pull" position to keep my ankles safe.

What kind of outreach was done before the vote? And what was the money going towards? I voted against an education measure a few years ago because it was heavy on stadiums and light on classrooms. I didn't feel the money that was requested was covering what was needed from our education dollars, and a lot of voters agreed with me.
The next year, the school board did listening sessions and presented a much larger, more comprehensive plan for improving the school district, and they made sure everyone knew exactly where the money was going. I happily voted in favor of it, and it passed easily. I believe that people will vote in favor of education dollars if they believe the dollars will make a real difference.

I know it is a chain, and I eat at a lot more local places than chains, but I wish we had a Melting Pot here. Or any fondue restaurant. I love dipping stuff. And melted cheese.
You can point out plenty of negatives bout Mississippi, but our food is not on that list. From Southern to Cajun, Sushi, Hibachi, BBQ, Mexican, and Chinese - we have some great local options.

I have already asked for the Lego Hogwarts Express. Keeping my fingers crossed! If I had not asked for it, I would have bought it yesterday - it is $65 on Target's website, and you can text TOY to (whatever the number equivalent of TARGET is) to get a 25% off one toy item code. The code wouldnt work and when I looked it says excludes lego
Aw - too bad! When I tried it yesterday, it let me put the code in on the website and adjusted the price. I didn't actually try to purchase though. Oh, you know what, I also had a bike in my cart....the Lego had a different offer going on, so I bet it applied it to the bike.

No wait for me, but it was crowded for my little town. DH went in at 8:00 this morning and was #77. At 11:00 I was #603. What's the deal with long lines in Georgia? My daughter had to wait half an hour at 10:00. She left the early voting twice because the waits were over an hour.
The governor's race is close, and, if elected, Stacey Abrams would be the first black female US governor.

I'm voting after work. I'm afraid the lines will be insane, but I couldn't make it work this morning.
Not long. A few minutes. For some reason, there was a second district there. I was confused longer than I actually waited to vote. LOL! I think that’s why there were more people. Really hoping to hear Stacy Abrams win the GA governorship.
Stacey and I were close friends in junior high. I've been following the race closely, and I am amazed at all she has accomplished.
