We have stayed at the Royal Hideaway, adult only, all inclusive on the smaller size. We didn’t snorkel but equipment was available on the beach. Food was awesome with lots of dining choices for such a small place. 1 large pool and several smaller, more secluded pools. Quiet, definitely not a party zone. Walkable into Playa Del Carmen through some smaller ruins). Enjoyed trips to Telus, (beautiful location plus interesting architectural/design planning stories), Coba (you could still climb it then, not sure if you still can) and swam in a couple of cenotes. Cozumel is just a boat ride away. Wherever you go, have a great time! We’ve been to the Royal Hideaway a couple times. It’s really lovely.

1/18 I got very little done yesterday. Still fighting this cold after three weeks — took a 2 hour nap and went to bed early. So today:
1. Get kids’ beds made up 2. Cat box, per usual 3. Get the chicken marinating before lunch 4. Laundry put away 5. Shovel front walk

Sounds so dangerous — glad you called. We do have burning permits in my town — you have to get the permit and call the FD the day you’re burning. Lots of safety rules involved and they won’t allow burning when it’s at all windy. We used to get rid of yard waste that way, but haven’t had a burn pile in years now.

I hope she recovers quickly. The abdomen contains a lot of organs and muscles, so I think speculating is pretty useless if she isn’t making it public. As far as the long recovery, my daughter’s friend was in the hospital for 10 days when she had a major repair for a hernia and problem with her abdominal muscles after childbirth. It was pretty extensive and took her a long time to recover. She didn’t even have any complications.

Over my coffee bar, I have a small print of Pete the Cat drinking coffee. I have a print of a cat eating a beignet with sugar all over his face hanging on the side of a cabinet. And a print of a cat that I found that looks exactly like my late cat. She was a very unique looking calico Cornish Rex, so it was weird that I found that. All of them came from various trips to New Orleans. I had to hang them on the sides of cabinets because I don’t have much wall space.

I recently got a prescription cream from Musely that has a bunch of stuff in it including hydroquinone, tretinoin, and vit C. I have to say it has done wonders not only for my dark patches, but for the overall look and texture of my skin - which I thought was pretty good before. I'm a big fan. Which one are you using?

My voice is still gone, so no phone calls for me! 1/16
1. Catch up on laundry — sheets and towels from kids’ visit. 2. Collect all the random vases for my uncle (he likes to make arrangements from cuttings he takes on his walks.) 3. Shovel front and back steps once the snow stops. 4. Clean up the kitchen 5. Scoop the cat boxes.

I’ve been using Differin gel, a .1% adapalene retinoid treatment for years now. It keeps my face from breaking out (even in my 50s it was an issue), it helps keep dark spots faded, and has also tightened up my skin. It’s cheap and it makes a big difference for me. I also religiously wear sunscreen, although I do have some sun damage from my childhood/teenage years before sunscreen was available.
I’ve been sick with a bad cold for a few weeks, and one of my symptoms has been super sensitive and dry skin. I haven’t been able to use my Differin and I can tell. I don’t know why my skin always reacts whenever I get sick.

What a relief that must be. Wishing you continued healing and a quick recovery now that the right antibiotics have been found.

1/8 1. Pay the bills 2. Run some laundry 3. Costco and grocery run 4. As always, scoop the cat boxes. 5. Try to finish shoveling front walk (I have a horrible cough, so I may not be able to. 15” of snow here.)

We laughed our heads off at Charty Party. It’s a game where you are given an x-axis of a graph, and have to supply the y-axis. Very funny and only takes about 30 minutes per game. If any of you are math or data geeks, it’s a winner.

The HELOC loan may not be the worst idea, although you need to research whether it’s necessary in your area. The LAST thing you need right now, in trying to downsize and manage your husband’s illness, is to become a landlord. That’s a stressful and difficult job on a good day. Especially if you’ve never done it before. Bad Bad Bad idea. Keep interviewing realtors.

In college I waited in line for a while (I don’t even remember how long, but it was pretty long) to get Red Sox playoff tickets. But other than that, I don’t even wait more than 15-20 minutes to sit down at a restaurant. Not a fan of crowds.

I wasn't born yet, but am aware of what happened. I also have a morbid sense of curiosity when it comes to some things I read. Jeff Guinn's The Road to Jonestown is a fantastic read. Oh, that’s the book I read. It was really well written and explained so much. I was in high school when it happened and didn’t understand how it could.

We just watched Leave the World Behind with Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali and Kevin Bacon. It seems most people hated the ended. It was a very interesting movie. HUGE spoiler When Rose found the bunker, I turned to DH and said she's going to find a VCR and the final episode of Friends to watch. And damn if that isn't what happened. I said the exact same thing. I loved the ending. I thought the acting in this movie was outstanding. We just watched Season 3 of Slow Horses on Apple TV. Gary Oldman was genius. Again. We’re currently watching Lidia Poet on Netflix. It’s in Italian, about a young woman lawyer in Turin in the late 1800s. She investigates crimes and deals with lots of sexism. The actress who played Lidia is mesmerizing. Also watching Fool Me Once, a Harlan Coben limited series. Love it, very twisty and suspenseful. About a woman who is a Captain in the British army whose husband is murdered. I love all his series, they’re really tightly written. ETA: I should have read the last 3 posts lol. Seems Fool Me Once has a bunch of us in suspense.

I usually do this every morning. But I’ve been sick for the last week, so my list goes something like… take a nap, recharge iPad from watching so many videos, call DH to buy more Kleenex and some soup. Hopefully I’ll be back on top of things next week. And your original #4 really stinks. Hopefully it all shakes out in your favor by the time you file.

We were traveling this year, so didn’t put much up. But now that we’re home, I’m so sick. All those coughing people on the plane, ugh. I’ll get it done later this week once I’m feeling better.

Here’s a good explanation of when you might need to take a multivitamin from the Harvard School of Public Health. I don’t take one, but I do take Vitamin D. Multivitamins

I agree with jeremysgirl in that you can change your overthinking, but it takes a lot of work and practice. I’ve been working on that sort of thing for years, and have had great success. I’m in a much better place for it. But it isn’t something you can just stop doing in the next few days. My three things would be: 1. Stop perusing the news and the internet by 7:00 in the morning. Time to get moving. 2. Stop talking myself out of going for a walk outside when it’s cold. I own jackets and gloves and will be perfectly comfortable. 3. Stop going to the grocery store at 4pm. It leads to lousy choices for dinner.

That sounds serious. Can his doctor have an order for a visiting nurse to care for the wounds in his home? That’s a large open wound, and should be treated. Also an occupational/physical therapist to evaluate his fall risk and possibly order him a walker or cane and show him how to use it properly.

That would be a big fat nope from me. Rehab takes her dietary requirements into consideration, and she can eat what they prepare. She can get her own meals when she gets home. Something to look forward to. There is absolutely no way I’d be providing dinner for someone who is being served all their meals as part of the service.

I’ve recently discovered I freaking love pickled onions. Weird but I had them on some tacos and then my town just got Cava, so I had them put them in my bowl and now I’m buying jars at the store. Same here! I was eating a salad at a restaurant and asked the waiter what the yummy little red things were on top, and it was pickled onion. I hate raw onion, so I was really surprised. They’re really easy to make, too. I season them with a pinch of nutmeg and a pinch of cayenne.
