Companies should be transparent. Everyone should be able to discuss it. I think if there are end of year bonuses they should be the same for everyone. Big Boss to lowest paid employee. I also feel the same about paying into 401k's. Employee-owned is the only type of company where I've seen that kind of transparency. Bonuses haven't been the same from top to bottom anywhere that I've seen, nor retirement contributions. It’s actually not legal to bar employees from talking about salaries and bonuses. It may not seem normal to be that transparent, but it is legal. I think that payment into 401ks is usually by matching or a certain percentage. So if someone doesn’t put as much in, they won’t get as much matched. At my husband’s company, bonuses are based on longevity, so they wouldn’t be equal all throughout either. ETA: Those longevity bonuses are Christmas bonuses. There are productivity and profit sharing bonuses that are separate and not given out at Christmas time.

So is Thomas going to recuse himself? His wife was all in on the overturning of the election and Jan 6 activities.

My daughter got married in October, and my husband commissioned my graphic designer niece to make them a personalized family crest. It came out super adorable. I bought them a set of drinking glasses with the crest printed on them.b Totally his idea and I can’t wait for them to open it.

My husband’s Holiday Party was really fun. They paid for employees and families at a resort on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH for Friday through Sunday. Breakfast was included. The party was Saturday night. Food was really good, annd they had an open bar. They did a yankee swap where the company bought all the gifts (worth about $35.) People had fun with it, stealing and swapping. That was the only organized activity, so everyone was free to do whatever they wanted for the rest of the weekend. Pretty much everyone was there with their families, only a couple people skipped it. I think they have about 45 employees

I think Trump is instructing his lawyers to throw anything and everything out there to delay and delay and delay. Honestly, I don’t think he knows or cares much about actual laws or the constitution. That’s what lawyers are for.

I only like it if it has enough brandy in it to not care. Although it makes a great French Toast.

I think he is guilty as hell But have a problem with someone not convicted of anything being ousted. I suppose, but we’re not talking about putting him in jail. He just lost his job. In my state, jobs are at will and you can let someone go for pretty much any reason (that’s legal.)

You’re incredibly strong and will weather this. Eventually it will all be settled and you won’t have to deal with this stress. Hopefully you’ll have the kind of luck my sister had. Her scumbag ex told the judge that she shouldn’t have any part of his business, that it was speculative and that it would be a fair trade for him to keep all the shares and she could have the house (with about 100k of equity.) The judge said, nah you owe her 50% of your shares in the business. His business had a freaking IPO on the NSE about a month later. She’s set for life now. She sold all her shares and hoped it made his drop in value.

I like a good strata, but usually just wing it and don’t follow a particular recipe. I like the eggs, bread, and veggie mixture.

I almost always have it on vibrate only. I do have to answer all calls — my mom’s aides and medical professionals all have my number. But I rarely have the ringer on and still notice when I get calls

The Williams Sonoma in a jar was way better than anything I’ve ever made from scratch. Gravy is my nemesis.

That Binge Breakthrough podcast with Jane Pilger is supposed to be good — I know a couple people who really like it. It’s not focused specifically on binge eating, but I’d highly recommend the book, The Food and Feelings Workbook by Karen R. Koenig. It’s a really good course on troubled eating (anything from restrictive dieting to binge eating) and how to deal in a better way with your emotions than using food. I got a lot out of it going through one chapter a week with a friend in NoBS.

I love the Turkish Seasoning on kebabs. We use that a lot. I also like their Original Taco Seasoning — but I’m not sure of the salt content. It’s not spicy at all.

We enjoyed the movie The Burial on Prime. Tommy Lee Jones and Jamie Fox were so good together. It’s about the lawsuit over a contract between a small-town funeral home owner and a large funeral home corporation. Based on a true story in the mid 90s.

How I Met Your Mother and pretty much any reality show. Oh, and The Office and other shows with that style of humor (Parks and Rec, Portlandia, etc.) — my kids are always trying to get me to watch with them and I’d stay for two minutes and run for the door.

I forgot to answer the original question. It’s usually a sci-fi or fantasy show with a large cast of characters and multiple locations — The Expanse and The Witcher come to mind. I just get lost after the break between seasons. If I binge them through multiple seasons, I stay with them longer. Altered Carbon was another one — they changed all the characters in the second season and I just couldn’t follow anymore.

We tried Breaking Bad twice cause everyone raved - just did but enjoy. We tried a few episodes of Schitts creek and heat we really need to give longer - we’ll see. We don’t watch much so do t waste our time if we don’t enjoy. Schitt’s Creek is one of my favorite shows, but I didn’t really get into it until maybe four episodes in. It takes a little while to warm up to the characters’ quirks and see the relationships between them.

I’m hiring the MUA that we hired for my daughter’s bridal party last week. She was fantastic — I loved the makeup she used on me. Plus I was first in makeup at 8:30am and it still looked great when I got home at midnight. She’s also an esthetician. My hair salon recommended her. She uses all sorts of brands. Side note: Charlotte Tilbury commented on how lovely DD looked in the MUA’s instagram.

We have for years. DH has a lot of hearing loss and that’s the only way he can follow a show. This year we bought a subscription to the Broadway in Boston shows and I was so excited that one of the performances for each show has open captioning. Now DH is happy to go with me. He could ever follow the shows before.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. Last winter, when my FIL passed away, I struggled to find something to wear in all the commotion and travel across the country. Most of the women wore black dresses and bare legs with either flat or heeled black shoes (the weather was warm, so tights were unnecessary.) After that, I bought a couple black dresses just in case. Unfortunately, I’m of the age where my friends’ parents are getting into their 80s and 90s, so I’ve worn all the dresses I bought. In cool weather, I wear tights or black hose. In warm weather, bare legs. I have a couple pairs of black dressy shoes that are comfy for me. I don’t really wear heels anymore. My black dresses were bought from amazon and from Nordstrom online. I think I ordered 7-8 and kept 4.

I haven’t personally had to deal with this, but friends have recommended the “gray rocking” method where you bore the narcissist into leaving you alone. You can google it for more info on the techniques. I’m sorry your mother is so difficult.

A big nope from me! I hate that swishing sound when you walk in corduroy pants. It reminds me of the 1970s.

If your budget allows it - Aquidneck Island (Newport/Middletown/Portsmouth) in Rhode Island would be my choice I love that area and we have a lot of relatives there. The winters are brutal though. Have you looked at the Virginia Beach area? DS just moved to Norfolk last week and it looks beautiful. The Georgia beaches near Savannah are lovely too.

Don’t know how you’re getting there, but Woodstock is another really great little town. Absolutely worth a visit if you’re going by. I really like the Simon Pearce stores.
