I still have a couple of blades for the old Stampin' Up trimmer (that I really really like) but have been keeping an eye out for a different trimmer when I run out of blades. This has been the one that excites me the most. I hear good things about the Creative Memories one, but don't want to be tied to a CM/SU type company for blades. A gal at my LSS that I trust for her opinions likes this Tim Holtz trimmer and let me see hers in the store, out of the packaging.

My baby will finish his first semester of college in two weeks and then head home for almost 4 weeks. It was so nice having him home for a week over Thanksgiving break, but also didn't get to see him too much at home because he was hanging out with friends.

"Let's get lost" in travel collections, especially ones that are more mountain/trail/woodsy...nope, I do not want to get lost in the middle of nowhere on my vacation.

Ugh...that was the most Nebraska way to lose and the most Iowa way to win...

Every year our church has a Harvest Dinner and provides turkeys for people to roast and bring back the meat on the day of the dinner. We slowly warm up the cooked meat in electric roasters and add broth as necessary. As long as the turkey wasn't overcooked to begin with, the reheated meat works well.
My MIL on the other hand...she overcooks her turkeys by roasting them overnight. But if that wasn't bad enough, she also warms up the meat to long and too hot. Even the dark meat is a bit tough by the time we sit down to eat a thanksgiving dinner...that's why I volunteer to roast a turkey (in her kitchen) every few years (also so we can have good stuffing because she never does stuffing).

My sister will often bring the mac'n cheese with corn dish to various family gatherings...bleh. I love a good mac'n cheese, but I do not want corn with it.

Enough of the people at one family gathering like/love it enough that I bring it to every family gathering. I rarely eat it, only taking some if there's not much else to eat. I love taking it and making it because it's all cans except for some milk. I don't have to worry about dragging around food that needs to be refrigerated or frozen to 3 different places over 3 different days. I make sure I have a small bottle of milk for Christmas Day gatherings otherwise I hope that my stepmom has some in the fridge (and if not I can run to the store to get some).

I only caught a little bit of Ali's letter when it was live and all I heard was "take this time to write..." and tuned out (I rarely do a reason why page). But I did go back and when I saw its letters to people, I changed my mind and think I might try something like that. I've never tried having my two boys fill out things like she's done in the past because I knew they never would, but this is different (maybe because they are both getting older with one of them away at college...).
I remembered that you can change the playback speed on the videos so most of the ones I've watched I've done at 1.25 or 1.5 speed...much better! I liked the second mixed media one for its ease. I always want to try some of the messy things like the first one appears to be, but it is toooo messy for me to be interested in watching right now.

I started listening to a local morning radio talk show when I started a new job that came with a 25-minute commute-- one of the longtime co-hosts of the show had started dating a lady in our church and had recently started attending the services. I was surprised to find that I like the banter of the co-hosts and the host of the show following the morning show. The co-hosts have since retired but I like the new co-hosts, so I have continued to listen. I don't care for some of their interviews if it's with someone/about some event I don't care about. But thankfully the half hour I listen to is usually just chatting about something--sometimes it's silly things, sometimes it's serious events. The host of the next show has a history in politics and is very good about explaining things in a very neutral way while also giving reasons why the left thinks this and the right thinks that.
Other than that show, I listen to music on XM radio because I hate commercials!

prep day is this saturday, are you guys tuning in? I usually do for like.. the camaraderie and getting into the season and stuff but seeing the different prompt/ideas for this year my face is kinda I wasn't wild about the date when I first saw it because it's a date I'm usually busy on (getting ready for a Thanksgiving potluck at our church) but now I might sign up for it because I can watch/listen while prepping/cooking. I think I've learned that if something like a Nebraska football game is going on during the day, I won't watch videos live and usually don't go back to watch most of them afterwards. However, it will also be a good distraction for me because DS will be driving home from college that day--it will be the farthest he's ever driven by himself (9 hours!)

I think I've had the same $20 in my wallet for at least the last 6 months. I used to use only cash for groceries, Target, etc. (and to save for non-monthly bills) but stopped during Covid because it was a pain to get the cash with all of the bank lobbies closed. Now I use a card for everything. The last thing I needed cash for was admission and concessions at DS's high school ball games, but he has since graduated and even if he was still in school, I couldn't use cash because they've gone card only (but that's another complaint...all of the schools that went cashless first passed on the fees so instead of paying $5 in cash I had to pay $5something on a card...)

Other--my boys have juice every morning, but DH & I almost never do. My boys usually have apple juice unless OJ was on sale. During the fall I'll buy fresh apple cider if it's not too expense.

Parking your shopping cart on one half of the aisle and standing on the other half to look for whatever you a looking for, therefore blocking the whole darn aisle! Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Extra points if you hang onto the cart while you do it. File it under “$#*t men do in the grocery store.” And bonus points for each member of your family with you...especially if they walk obliviously slow and spread out, blocking others from getting around the group...and by others I mean me when I just want to get my stuff at Sam's and get out!

Huskers won and Hawkeyes lost so it was a good day. It's been fun reading the FB comments from Iowa fans over the reversed punt TD...it was a questionable call for sure but they been so awful on offense that it was a matter of time before one play or one call decided a game.

It's a tie between a pair of LL Bean sneakers and a pair of Birkenstocks. The sneakers were soooooo comfortable for walking distances and wearing with or without socks. There were so comfy that I bought a pair of men's that were the same style because the women's had sold out when I decided to buy a second pair. The Birkenstocks have a wide red stretchy fabric strap. They are very comfy for wearing everywhere and when I do, everyone asks about them because they are so different.

That is NOT what I would consider a "discount" for the Hybrid class! Even all 4 products for the price of the main kit would be better. I also wish it was a better discount that was exclusive to people who bought the class instead of anyone and everyone being able to get the "discounted" bundle.

The boy's birthday is the first one in a long time I've been excited about--very usable for boys over the age of 5! Although the single number candle stickers won't be very useful for someone who has teens.
I was excited to see a new basketball line because my first thought was that maybe a new baseball or football line would be coming soon...then I saw it's a Steven Duncan line and knew it would be vintage. Thankfully I don't need basketball because I can't stand vintage sports lines (not a fan of most vintage lines).
The ladybug line is cute for something different and I like parts of the St. Patrick's Day set, but don't need either.

I'm one that got the email about my order being slow to ship. When I looked at my order, there was a free digital to download. Anyone else get this? Did you order the plastic tag set? I'm pretty sure it's to replace the misprinted "simple joys" tag in the set.

I got an Ali email in my inbox and I think, oh yay it shipped. Nope. Just a notification that my order is still in fulfillment and is delayed because of high volume ☠️ Same but somewhat surprised that it wasn’t telling me things had run out before they got to my order. Same. I was mostly surprised to get the email the same week that shipping started--I wasn't necessarily expecting it to ship this week since they start with internationals. Makes me think people are panicking and contacting CS.

Nebraska plays at Illinois on Friday night which would normally be annoying but works out for us since we will be driving to South Dakota. Listening to the game will help pass the time...hopefully... Saturday, we get to watch DS's Mines team play the D2 15th ranked Western CO. They had a great game last week against their top rival so maybe some of that will spill over to this game (especially since the other game we got to watch this year turned out to be a close loss--DS may not let us watch another game in person if they lose!)

We're traveling to MO to see DS's team play (99.9% sure he won't travel with the team to the game, but its the closest one for us so we'll go watch and cheer on his teammates.)
I'm either going to be very thankful to be on the road/at a game during the NU-CU game or very disappointed to miss the NU-CU game...we'll see! It will also be weird to not wear Husker red on a Saturday during football season...

I will eat just about any type of egg, except maybe undercooked scrambled or raw. I recently started making soft boiled eggs and really like those. I definitely like a runny or soft yolk, but will still eat them of the yolk is hard.

We have an under-the-shelf radio in our kitchen that we use once in a while. I will listen to Cubs games while cooking and if the weather is just right, we'll use it for Nebraska football games (can usually get the signal 120+ miles away from Omaha on a nice day).
In my car I'll listen to an AM station's morning show on my way to work. Otherwise I listen Sirius XM radio while in the car.

My Huskers already lost last night too...ugh...new coach, new QB, same old turnover issues.
My Hardrockers play tonight. We'll try to watch online, even if DS won't be playing (or dressing since he doesn't have a jersey number yet).

That Pinkfresh kit is very pretty (even though it's not my style of Cmas kit). I like some of the papers, b-sides mostly but also that diagonal stripe.

Well that was anticlimactic! I keep forgetting they continue to improve the back end of things and even DD is a much smoother release so it really shocked me when I was able to get 3 orders in within 3 minutes. I decided to go by grouping--ordered tags & labels first, then kit & album, then specialty cards and a few other things I wanted...all while waiting for the site to crash!

I feel bad for my son who went back to school today in central Iowa. Even with AC it's going to be miserable in the school--it was bad when we were there Monday night for back to school night. The upside is his golf meet yesterday was cancelled. It's supposed to be better for football games on Friday night but I'm still thankful I don't have to go since I don't have a kid playing.
I walked out of work yesterday around 1:30 and thought to myself "this isn't so ba....ugh...nope, it's bad" seriously couldn't finish my thought before I changed my mind!

We moved our oldest in last weekend. He's playing football and had to move in 2 weeks early. It was sad to loss those 2 weeks, but also nice to not have to move in at the same time as everyone else. It was also nice when it came time to say our goodbyes because the players were going from the parent meeting to the bowling alley for a team activity so we had to say our goodbyes quickly. Normally I might be mad at that, but I was going to cry either way so in the end I appreciated the short goodbye.
We're planning a trip back out to see him at some point. It's going to be hard not getting to watch all of the games in person, but he's 9 hours away (and some of the games are 12-13 hours away). Right now it feels like he's just had a busy week of sports, friend & work when in reality he is living his own life 9 hours away (it wasn't unusual to have days when we'd only see him for 30 minutes or so before we'd go to bed).
I wasn't sure I'd survive the packing--he put it off until the last minute!
