I apologize, I’m the one who started on the phrase Ali posted. It was timing really, I normally don’t get annoyed over stuff like that but after working with a person Monday who doesn’t know where they will live come Wednesday it seemed a bit trite. BTW the person I worked with has 2 jobs & works hard. Not knowing what would be happening was certainly not ok for them. I pointed them to the proper agency to help them and said a prayer I’m not equipped to help more than that. I still think the saying is a bit trite but I do understand the points by other peas having to do with indecision & anxiety. I didn’t mean to start a whole thing, so I apologize for bringing that here. From my POV, I think it is totally OK to discuss and look at this from different points of view. I have been thinking about it on/off all day and I am thankful for the discussion. Just because "to me" I can see the message as positive, does not mean everyone else does.

I have a slightly different take on this "its ok to have no idea what's next" thing. I want to start out saying I do not mean any disrespect for anyone who's view is different from mine. I have been on both sides of the privilege coin, although I have always slept inside I have had times in my life where I did not make a decision because of not knowing how said decision would turn out. Anxiety, analysis paralysis, whatever you want to call it had me so wound up, and instead of "being brave" or "going for it" I just kept plodding along not making a decision. In hindsight, I wish I had been more brave, or made better choices. I never stopped working hard, and I doubt that Ali is going to stop working/moving forward. Even in the most dire of situations, the sun is coming up tomorrow. Life is moving, what is going to happen, is going to happen. Worrying or not taking a step at all is not going to help.

Introduce yourself! (e.g. name/where you are from/who you live with/occupation/fun facts about you/general age, etc... whatever you want to share to help everyone get to know you!) HI! I am Lisa. I live in AZ and am a single empty nester with two grown sons. I was a teacher (hence the user name) but am now a 911 dispatcher. I love scrapbooking and cooking and karaoke I am 52. What is your word for 2020? simplify Why did you choose that word? my word last year was less, which was great. I still feel called to that word, but even more than less I often make things hard for myself. I want to simplify my life so I have more time to enjoy the things that truly matter to me. Is this your first year participating in OLW? no If not, what words have you had in the past? I have used move, no, less, home and a few others. Which of your prior words was your favorite/least favorite and why? my favorite was probably home, which as lead me on this journey to love my home, have less, keep it simple etc. Are you signed up for Ali's class? yes Are you participating in any other similar projects/check-ins online or elsewhere? here and at alis site How are you planning on documenting your word? in an 8.5x11 album

I do not put anyone on speaker phone, and I dislike being put on speaker. When it happens, I usually find some excuse to disconnect the call.

Studio calico/Ali Edwards have page protectors and albums. Amazon has some stuff also. If you are looking for cards elles studio has monthly sets that are super cute. I believe I’ve also seen some page protectors and albums at my Michaels.

gramma your gift baskets are freakin adorable! I also like the senior night cheer layout, such fun memories she will cherish! How funny about sister time lol... grammadee I love your cards- how intricate! joblackford I love the birch tree cards-very stunning refugeepea I love the fall pocket page layouts. I always love fall products, but live in AZ and we really do not have fall like a lot of places. Fall layouts always catch my eye! KikiPea I love both layouts for the now/then challenge. The layers are very nice in both.

I love cooking almost as much as I love scrapbooking...so I am often on the lookout for recipes.
My latest fave is a YouTube named Lisa, her channel is Downshiftolgy. She appeals to me because she meal preps, but in a different kind of way. She also has a website/blog.
I am a fan of skinny taste, food network and budget bytes also.
you can do an internet search...ground beef recipes for example, and it will take you to many recipes and food bloggers.
I do have quite a stash of cookbooks also, but most often take the easy route and look online.

Has anyone got any ideas for using these big honking EK success punches? It seems as though I am punching hard enough, but then I can not get the paper out ( and I can barely get it in there) What the heck am I doing wrong?

I went from I do not need any of it (yesterday) to let me by all of it (today) lol...I did not buy it all, but I bought more than I thought I would. I did not buy anything from last years release so that is my excuse lol. I picked up the main kit this year, and a couple of the stamps. I also bought the mini kit, even though I only like a small portion of it ( I plan to sell the rest) .

hi! You can still feed the giraffes, for an extra fee of course lol...they do it a few times a day, you can ask when buying your ticket what the times are.
I am zero help for gluten free places, sorry on that...
Sedona is very beautiful and I would choose that... but it is relative, you will probably have fun at either place. There is also a smaller zoo in Tucson call Reid Park Zoo ( not sure if they do giraffe feedings or not)
Have fun on his trip.

my BF and I do not live together, so we mostly do not watch TV together. But our TV tastes are very different, so the days he is hanging around my house, we are usually watching separately.

There is a Facebook post about OLW release. Products and registration are on December 4. They reduced the product offerings this year but added something new, a subscription. Basically you commit for 4 quarterly mini kits up front. You can only see the first kit before purchasing. I skipped the workshop last year and only got the journal, which I abandoned about halfway through the year. That was partly because this year was CRAZY but also because I think I need the group motivation and monthly check in, so next year my plan is to create an album and take the class. I am intrigued by the mini kits... I like the idea of getting products throughout the year as a motivator, but I’m not thrilled you can’t see them all before buying. I'M not sure what I think about it, I guess I will have to see. I am doing OLW for sure, but I have a huge stash and may just use that + the digital stuff this year. She posted a comment to one of her posts that the first kit will be a good indication of what the future kits will be like, so I guess I will wait and see what I think of that first one.

its ok... I mean, its a "low impact project". Its not a big ol class or anything, and people I am sure could think it up on their own, if they wanted to. I am going to do it until I do not enjoy it anymore lol.
