Oh good Lord! I can’t jump through the screen and help anyone here with a lack of reading comprehension—you’re going to have to do it yourselves. I completely stand by my comments about Trump supporters and what the Republican Party has devolved into. If neither of those describes you, then move on. I’m not talking to you. You are fortunate your lived experience differs from mine. If it’s my lived experience, it’s what it is, not a stereotype. I often hear people say things like “I’m not going to dwell in a negative mindset” which really means “I’m hearing something that threatens my views in some way”. Sometimes the truth is hard to handle. Maybe this applies to you. Accusing others of being overly negative (angry, bitter, shrill) is a time-honored way of silencing people - especially women - who speak out about injustice or anything else the world finds uncomfortable. When I began discussing racism and police violence, the peas who watched as I was gaslit, knew what was going on and did nothing. You were one that not only watched but defended elaine. |

Hi, this isn't really a political response but why I really don't look here anymore and deleted my account a while back. I was a member at 2peas when they still had a store and I joined here after it shut down. Old 2peas was a great place for me. Lots of threads, info, and movement. I used to wait for my kids to take a nap, get a snack, and sit down for some time for myself to read (mostly) and hang out some (I never got above 2000 posts). That time was wonderful because there was so much content. I remember lots of threads about funny and sad life stuff, I loved seeing all the excitement when crafts expos would happen because there were so many new supplies to see and talk about. We also had magazines, qvc, tv shows etc to discuss or be excited about. I don't think that this place now has any more disagreements, name calling, or negativity. I remember huge threads that would turn over night, crop horror stories, the pub dramas. I think the difference is that is was diluted by a more active user base that contributed a lot of other content. I think a lot of people left when they gave up the hobby or their kids got older. I also think that the rise of social media took more people away. I started coming here less because of small life changes. Other people and interests took up my time. I found that following companies and people I liked on Instagram was an easier way to find out what was new. I also made an effort in my life to take out things that were causing stress and anxiety, which this place fell into a bit during the past 6 years with politics. I didn't just check out here. I left facebook, whittled down my instagram, and kept news consumption to a minimum. I think this place is slow because it may be at it's end of usefulness for a lot of people. I do hope that for those that enjoy it here that it is just a lull and comes back but I honestly don't have any solutions to make that possible. I agree with everything you’ve said and it makes me sad. Few remember my old participation but I was here for all the kid years and had hoped to brag about my own one day. Now I know how anything personal is weaponized so I never trust that what I shared would not be. Also the old board would just zip by maybe why it was much easier to not to take anything personal. We’ve always needed a villain like most dynamics do and I think I’ve become that since the other super villains have left. Therapy says I like that role 😇 so I take noooo issue with it as I find it makes the way in which I do participate much easier to maintain. But man would a couple new peas to fight with be fun 🤣even conservative ones. I think they like to call it an echo chamber. 😏 Yet here we all are. I just read a comment from Compwalla in an old thread that warmed by heart. Lots of old peas gone. No new ones have arrived 🤷🏾♀️ Edited to add: I see she didn’t stick around long at all. I wished I had the strength! |

Why does your frustration extend to me? You are right there is no way to atone but that shouldn't stop people from trying. Your part has to be more than questioning your assumptions and privilege. I am frustrated because I don't have the answer. It probably extends to you only because you brought it up. Another relevant bump for the day. Appreciated the honest response then and now. |

J&J vaccine was probably slated for college campuses and now with some Baltimore plant issue affecting their production it may have caused campuses to rethink their COVID plans

The reason why people hate a bumped thread is because they’d have to contend with a “fuller picture”. I don’t bump a thread needlessly. Nothing here is a reach or out of context. I wouldn’t say I am beating a dead horse BUT I’m okay with my behavior being classified in whatever way works for you The party passing judgment. I actually did want to share Amanda Goreman and Christian Coopers books. I just happened to re-read the last pages and saw that response. The Tranracial Adoption thread is a “fresh” thread.
What I want everyone to see is the deflection and the desire to avoid attacking issues head on. Merrymom doesn’t want to go into the fresher thread because then
1. She would have to read the links and information I shared. We see this happen a lot. A simply resistance to new information. When we know better we do better and some folks simply do not want to be tasked with becoming better people.
2. She would also have to acknowledge that for almost 30 years she has been apart of a system that causes harm to Black people. Her job is usually one that allows her to be “seen as good” so if I had to guess my insistence we deal in research and facts made her a little livid.
You want people to see what you want them to see. You want people to talk about what you want to talk about. That’s fine. I do too.

I asked another pea what would have happened if white women intervened in the rapes and splitting up of families. And her reaction was similar to Merrymom’s. I am not tagging either of the peas because I don’t want to ever engage with them. However I did want to point out that MOST EVERY challenging question I pose does unanswered.
Why do you think it’s hard for people to ponder questions like these?

I have seen things that most people could not imagine. I have seen the tremendous evil perpetrated on children. I have interviewed men that have murdered children, men that “ justified” the sexual abuse of INFANTS because babies like to suck on things, mothers who beat their child to near death, I’ve had to remove children from the nastiest homes but they still cry for their moms, and I’ve had to tell children that their mom died from an overdose. I’ve also seen parents overcome significant substance abuse and worked through the trauma they’ve inflicted on their children. I’ve worked with and for all the children and families I’ve served of all races to the best of my abilities. I’ve have seen the best and worst (and points in between) in people of all races and ethnicities. I have no doubt that you have experienced many things on a daily basis that I cannot begin to fathom. I HAVE seen kindness and grace extended by people of different races. No race or ethnic group has a monopoly on kindness. Moral depravity and extreme cruelty is how I would describe white people’s treatment of Black people. If that makes you feel bad about yourself or your ancestors, I understand. It’s absolutely disgusting. I’m tired of this and I’m not Black. I’m sorry and wish it wasn’t happening. I’m sorry it ever happened. I’m sorry there are probably an innumerable number of similar incidents that the public doesn’t know about because cameras were not available, weren’t turned on, or the footage somehow disappeared. Thank you. It sucks. I’m really blessed that no work comes through my phone so I think I am going to take a digital break. See what that does for my mood🤷🏾♀️ The alternative is a juice fast and new exercise routine. |

However, in 1929 the Manhattan Beach City Council seized the property citing eminent domain. The property was transferred to the state and then to L.A. County. It is now used as a park and as the L.A. County Lifeguard Training Centre. Officials Friday announced a new state senate bill that would make it easier for the county to transfer the land back to the Bruce family. If passed by the legislature and signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, SB 796 would take effect immediately.

Care to share why you gave her the benefit of the doubt when it was pretty clear how harm filled her Creative Writing half assed apology was? I was giving her the benefit of the doubt that she was trying to speak from the heart and apologize but wasn’t expressing it correctly. I see clearly she knows how to express herself just fine. Fair enough. It seems a lot of people gave her the benefit of the doubt too. I was always clear on who she is since the Passing The Buck thread. I do think it's very strange that the Nestor story dropped off the radar. Everything about it is odd and creepy, if not downright illegal. It's not like Gaetz has ever had a kind, thoughtful, giving, nurturing reputation. There haven't been years of articles praising his selflessness, and he's never tried to cultivate anything along those lines himself; certainly not by talking up his sexual prowess and showing pics of naked girls & women to his coworkers. I logged it under shit white men can get away with but I can’t. We didn’t stop talking about it in my circles though. |
