The swelling is gone but my lips are super crackly—-I have a line of blisters from the corners of my mouth going and inch in both lip lines plus inside my mouth! I wanna know what was on that mask!!!! Are you allergic to latex? Many of those contain latex and the powder can get on the mask. It can also be in the material and ear straps. I did ask if there was latex in the masks and they responded no. So I’m puzzled.

Gahhh!!! Still itching and swelling!
I’m laying here with ice packs on my lips and face!
I did email the doctors office photos of my mouth and face.
I cannot believe they wouldn’t let me wear my k95 one.

So I go to the doctor today for regular check up.
I’m of course wearing a mask.
Reception says I have to wear one of their blue paper surgical ones.
I said that I also have a K95 one in my pocket that I could wear. (Non-argumentative)
She said nope it had to be one of theirs.
So I put it on, it had a weird smell, and I was in the office for about 1-1/2 hrs waiting, my appointment, getting labs done.
I take off their mask as I’m getting into my car, and my face feels weird, tingly, itchy…
I look in my mirror and my face is red and itching in the shape of the mask!!!
So here I am, almost 19 hours later looking like I had Botox injections—my lips are swollen, itchy and my face still red and bumps!!!
I have a call into dr’s office, they won’t respond until tomorrow.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this from wearing a surgical mask??
I’ve been diligent wearing a mask, have had both cloth and K95 marks, but this is the first time I’ve had a reaction!!!

Let them tell you, don’t push.
In the meantime, familiarize yourself with terminology and specific terms within the LBGTQ community (brush up on the “lingo”) so that you can be supportive and not offensive when the time comes.
Remember that kids see/watch everything—so Openly support LBGTQ—showing that you are supportive to the community at large may be the ice breaker your child needs to see for them to open up.
It’s okay to process—just don’t do it at the expense of the child!

Over half of our staff was knocked out with Covid the week before Christmas and is still ongoing. 4 of us are running the company, and we are so thankful that we someway we’re not affected.

Why does he want it? Regeneron is not effective against Omicron. Aside from that, using it, while legislating against any mitigation efforts is reprehensible. He (and republicans like him ) don’t give a flying fuck if anyone takes it, gets better, doesn’t die. He and his buddies make money on it by getting the state/federal government to bankroll it. Republicans are fucking grifters and nothing more.

Oh and if you have the makings for a Cuban sandwich—do it!
I do Cubans and grilled cheese in big quantities for winter get togethers with family and friend and they are a hit! Serve with chips and soup.
My version:
Slice open, spread with Mayo or butter and toast a good baguette, French bread (slightly hollowed out) or hoagie rolls.
We make a Mayo/sweet mustard as a sauce and generously spread on both sides of the toasted roll.
Layer sides with thinly sliced ham, pulled pork, and Swiss or Havarti cheese.
Place in super hot oven yo melt cheese (it goes faster if your pork is already hot)
Top with thinly sliced dill pickles. And close sandwiches. Slice diagonal and enjoy!

Okay hear me out because at first I thought this sounded weird until I tried it at Harry Caray’s restaurant in Chicago. Add it to homemade Mac-n-Cheese. I think they also had shredded chicken in with it too but when we make it at home we just use shredded pork with bbq sauce. There is a bbq place who makes a pulled pork mac bowl!!

I’m making pozole soup .
I’m not following a particular recipe, just putting in what tastes good that’s on hand, loosely based on what pozole is.
I’ll sauté a sweet onion, add chicken stock, a jar of salsa verde, add 2 cans of hominy (can also use white sweet corn), a chopped fresh jalapeño, cubed cooked potatoes—either homemade or canned, (I have also used white canned beans instead), a squeeze of lime, and depending on the taste as it heats up, I might add more salt, pepper, lime zest, cilantro…
It’s a delicious warming soup.

Me too. I had to be doing stuff the entire game —I cleaned off my desk, paid bills, made a pie, cooked dinner, took out trash…anything to keep me from sitting through my anxiety!!! Lol I had to keep getting up too. Until the 4th quarter and then I couldn’t move. I missed the win! I was in the kitchen and looked up and I thought they were in OT and my hubby tells me they won!! Lol

My absolute best friend from college tragically passed away suddenly and her service is just outside NYC next weekend. She was one of my closest friends in my life - though with 3000 miles between us we had drifted in and out but during undergrad we were partners in crime/inseparable. I’m so heartbroken about the situation. So would you fly to nyc for 3 nights next weekend? Of course it just seems crazy with the Covid numbers right now in NYC. I’m low risk, my family is low risk and we are all vaccinated and boosted. And I would really like to see my college friends and be there for her husband whom I was also friends with. But again, I know NYC is just through the roof. And the 5 hour plane ride does not seem fun and I would have to request last minute vacation. Just trying to lay out all points. Eta - updated on next page Nope. Too risky flying with assholes spitting, slapping, causing a ruckus on planes all in the name of “my rights”.

- I can't believe I need to say this, but how about locking the door? If you don't have a lock there, get one. If the one there isn't strong enough for your taste, get another one - either instead of or in addition to whatever's already there. If you have a weaker interior-style door, get a stronger, outside door. I was surprised to read that people don't have a lock on the door from the garage to the house. That is one of the easiest places for someone to break into your house if they get into your garage. We have not only have a lock, but also a security screen on that door and the door that leads outside. The security screens may seem like overkill, but it does serve a secondary purpose. We can open those doors and not get any bugs into the house. Also keeps the dog from wandering out. Not only do we have locks on the man doors to the garage, but it’s code that those doors must have a fire safety closure mechanism (where it shuts automatically).

Of course I’m watching Ohio State… But damn, it’s ugly. It has been ugly. And beautiful. And depressing. And nail-bitingly close. Yes!!!! My sibling canceled their annual New Years Day football party because they’re disgusted with Ohio Stare and Ryan Day! They refused to watch any bowl/playoff games this year! But damn, they did it. Won the Rose Bowl 🌹

This is from one of the lead investigators on this specific case—
“In any case, if you are the one pulling the trigger on a gun it is really important to know what your target is,” he said.

Shocking that he felt it was his right to shoot another human. He heard noises in his garage, and checked the alarm. But no checking on his family. And if someone was in the garage why does that equal death in his head. I guess being from another country it leaves me dumbfounded that you would feel that an unidentified person in the garage means you are in threat. Why did he not lock the internal door and call the police. Which would be my first option, then grab my family and either leave the property by another door or just make are we were in another part of the house. He had no indication that his daughter was armed or a threat to life. Being in a garage doe not mean you are a killer. We have had attempted break ins before. Scary and unsafe feeling, but not worth killing someone over. Because people with guns are scared of other people having guns. Unfortunately, they don't seem to realize that to others, THEY are the ones that are the threat. And it's a vicious cycle. It’s getting to be like vax vs anti vaxx… They’re eliminating their own population…anti-vaxx are dying at a much larger rate that those who are vaxxed because “freedom, ‘mErica, my rights” Now gun owners are taking out their own for the same “freedom, ‘mErica, my rights”

hookturnian what is the gun culture like in SA? Are guns easily accessed? Lots of people have guns. You need to take an exam on the gun laws on when you can shoot, responsible gun ownership etc. Once you pass your exam you can apply for a gun licence, and once you have that you can purchase guns, which are registered. You have to renew your licence every few years. There are also a lot of illegal weapons, including AK47s. This is a holdover from apartheid times, when there were weapons caches hidden around the country. A lot of people also received military training of some sort, whether for or against the apartheid regime. South Africa had conscription until the early 90s, so just about every white man over the age of 50 would have served at least 2 years in the army. Many would have combat experience, domestic and abroad. Unfortunately, the Jack ass republicans in Ohio did away with all that this last month. The Governor just signed into legislation that people no longer have to do any of those things in order to obtain or carry guns.

I was surprised that there were not fireworks all over last night like usual (several golf courses near us usually shoot them off after dark), but right at midnight we heard them for about 20 minutes.

Ours is on the side!
Front door has a longer hall/entry, dining room is in the front large window, steps up/down on the other side of hallway, garage on other side of steps.
Enter into the living room from the hall, 8’ to kitchen, which is a diagonal line (15’ ) from the kitchen (a longish way to take food!! Lol)

Our work was pretty much wiped out this last 2 weeks, except for 3 of us that haven’t gotten sick. We are all boosted too.,
So we closed all week, the 3 of us that were well went in and cleaned and organized and did what we could.
The business next to us closed too—they all got Covid really bad—but they refuse to be vaccinated.
