Oh, I remember seeing a news story about a place where you can buy things from cancelled TV shows or movie sets. Some place in California. With some googling, I bet you could find the store. It's a long shot, but they might be able to point you in the right direction. There are a couple places like that. I am going to see what CBS says, and then maybe take it to the fans to see if there is any chance one of them bought a crate when the props were sold off. I do wonder if those stores keep any inventory of what they have sold in the past. Will look into that as well.

Wow, that's pretty amazing! Could you call CBS and see if there's some sort of archive where they keep props? And ask to speak to someone? It might just be generic enough that it's in a warehouse somewhere with other crates and boxes and trunks and things from a similar time period to be used by any show needing that kind of thing. I used to dance (ballet) and I know the company I danced with had a warehouse FULL of costumes and props dating back to the first show they ever performed. It was amazing. It was all catalogued and organized. I'm thinking a studio would keep items like that to use whenever, but I'm just guessing. If CBS still has it, they will hopefully know where it is, depending on how detailed their record keeping is. I'd get as much info as you can. Blow up the pic so you can email it to whomever needs to see it, figure out what episode it was so they could look by date, look in your diary to see when exactly you were there etc. get as much info gathered as you can so that it sound like an easy task for someone to look up for you. I do know someone in the industry in Hollywood, but he works for FOX, so that doesn't help much. Updated at top. I did talk to CBS and it is in their hands now. Never kept a diary and since I was shooting film, I don't have dates to refer back to. If they need me to, I can narrow it down to a year's time but that probably won't help. I wish I could remember the size of the crate. That would probably be the most helpful.

Maybe find out the studio that shot the show. Like Warner Brothers, Universal, or Paramount? I would think they'd use something like a crate for more than 1 TV show. That is what I am hoping. I know they still use the set location to film other shows. CBS is what it aired on, but was filmed on location, so no studio on CBSs lot. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I don't have too many ideas how to start yet. So any suggestions are welcome! I was fortunate to be able to spend some time on the set when Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman was filming. One day I took a picture of a random crate because the address/person it was addressed to struck a chord with me. At the time it was just a 'because' photo. The person had the same name as my mom's maidan name and his street was the same name as the school I was going to. Anyways, came across the photo again today. Totally forgot about it since it was taken (15-18 years ago). Something more was bugging me about the name/address, so I searched the name and city of the person and it turns out he was my great uncle. Even was able to confirm the address... The address never played a part in filming, just the crate as a background prop. So most likely it was an old shipping crate that was close to being authentic for the time period. I am already assuming that it is a very, very long shot to track it down. I know they sold off some props when the show ended, but how can I find out whether the ones that weren't sold (if there were any) went? I envision a warehouse of props waiting to be needed for filming but that might not be how it works. Already exchanged messages with someone who used to work on the set, and she said could not think of a way. Props scattered in many directions when the show ended. I refuse to give up that easy. It's not life or death or anything, but family are asking if it can be tracked, and I figured it might be worth a try. 3/17 Called CBS this morning. Surprised when a real person picked up instead of a recording. Was transferred and I explained the situation to the gentleman I talked to. He admitted it was a very long shot, but if I was willing to send him an email with the information and the picture, he would forward it to the props department. As I told him, I had to try. If that doesn't work, it's going to be a lot harder to track down from an individual. 3/20 Heard back from the park service today. They were unable to help but she did suggest that I email/call all the prop warehouses in the Los Angeles area. I had figured CBS had their own warehouse , but makes sense that shows would use prop warehouses. It is worth a shot. Sent out 7 emails today, so we will see. 3/23 Received an email from someone who says he was the decorator for the show. He says he remembers buying that box at an antique shop and gave me the name of a prop shop it may have gone to. I don't think it was one I had emailed. I made a call, reached the wrong place, but they must get that a lot because they gave me the correct number lol. I explained the situation the the guy who answered and he wanted me to send the photo. However, he did ask what I was expecting to happen if he did have the crate, and he made it VERY clear he does not sell his props. I told him I was not sure yet. I wasn't sure what our odds were of locating it. I did ask, just to keep the conversation open, if he would allow someone to take photos/rubbing of the address, and he was ok with that. I still don't know if he even has it, but we will see. And if he does, cross the next bridge when we get there. At that point it may be time to pass the torch to another family member. One who lives in SoCal still, and one who is willing to be pushy to see if there is a way of acquiring it.

I had one 7 years ago and I don't remember how it started. What I do remember is I was in so much pain, I could not get comfortable in any position...walking, sitting, laying, sitting... nothing... I could not keep anything down, so could not take pain meds. Ended up calling the nurse hotline at 2 am and she told me to go into the ER. I would not have been able to drive myself. Never want to repeat it again, but according to the dr, there is a second one waiting...

My daughter has not missed school due to braces yet. I hung around the first day back (parents are very welcome in the classroom) and grabbed her a shake for lunch and she did fine. I also have meds kept in the nurses office for her if she needs them after adjustments. They call me to make sure she can take them (in case she had a dose that morning).

They do have a log according to the first customer service Iperson I talked to. I had my receipt with the items marked. Just strange because usually customer service people are friendly to the customer. That's odd then that she did not refer to it... Glad you got it worked out.

I went to get my left groceries yesterday. The first eight items on the receipt were the ones I left. The lady at the service counter was very rude, IMO, even though I was very nice, took total responsibility and told her I had called the day before with the name of the person I spoke with. It was strange. She looked me right in the eyes and just stared at me not saying a word. I got the strong opinion she thought I was lying. I guess she was just doing her job. I got my groceries so that's all that matters and lesson learned for me. That's strange cause I have left a bag at WalMart and thought I left something at our grocery store. Both times, i talked to someone in customer service. They each had a binder that had written in it items that had been forgotten once paid. Walmart I was lucky, the grocery store I was not. I did have to bring in my receipt and then go find the items on the shelf again, but they had proof that a bag containing those exact items had been forgotten.

Depends on who was going. As a family, we are going to see Imagine Dragons this summer. It is on my daughter's want to see in concert list. If it was just me and my daughter, ZBB would also be a possibility. I almost bought tickets for the concert last September, but I think it fell on a school night.
I have noticed that even if I don't know a lot of the music, if I do like what I have heard, I do end up enjoying the concert a lot. I expect that of Imagine Dragons, although we have bought their albums so I am sure I will know the music soon enough.

Did she make sure the grain is also straight? The teacher should have shown her and taught her how to correct this if it wasn't. If the grain isn't straight to start with no amount of following the direction on the pattern will make it sit/fit correctly. Snip through the selvedge, find one crosswise thread and pull it, like a gathering thread, until you reach the opposite selvedge. If the fabric is loosely woven, you might be able to pull the thread completely out of the fabric. If it is tightly woven, you will need to pull the threads every few inches or pull it slightly so it puckers, then slide the thread and push the fabric repeatedly until you reach the opposite selvedge then pull the thread out. Cut the fabric along the pulled thread line and then fold it over selvedge to selvedge. I know it's too late for this garment but just a tip for the next one. I am positive this was not done. Something else I learned today. Have a feeling once this thread has finished, I will be printing it out and sticking it with my sewing stuff. I want to start again and there is a lot of knowledge here for me too.

Wait, do you mean that you didn't cut out the paper pattern to your DD's size before pinning the pieces to the fabric? That would make a big difference! She had her rough cut them and pin them on, while pointing out that she would be cutting on her size, so parts of the pattern were off the fabric. Wasn't like she pinned it on wasted a lot of fabric.

I can try to post pictures later. There is a jumbled mess left of the original piece. I did look closer at the pieces we need for the back and and at the additional piece I bought and looks like it will fit with the Grain with like 1/4-1/2" left over. I am still glad I asked becuase I am learning a lot. Thanks . I am just glad I don't have to go buy more fabric. I have sewn some over the years, but kind of did it on my own, and can remember if I worried about the grain line aside from lining the pattern up the way I was shown. I want her learning correctly. I am not sure what the teacher discussed with my daughter. I was in and out of the room. I try to stay out so my daughter is accountable more to the teacher than me, but the teacher wanted me there to see the issue with the fabric. I do know she stood there for a good 15 mins trying to get things lined up like it showed on the pattern and from my eye, there was no way that was happening. I am trying to have her cut it all out at home since she only meets every other week for two hours and I know this is going to end a lot of instruction. Up until now she has made a quilt, various types/sizes of bags, a couple skirts, and a lot of pillowcases. Introducing darts and zippers with this project. There are 6 kids she is working with, with my daughter the most advanced. $10 for two hours so I am not going to complain, I will learn when I can (like today) and fill in at home.

It can be a pretty big issue unless it is something like facings. The garment will not "give" properly and will be uncomfortable to wear. Also, depending on the fabric there could be a color/shading issue. Shoot. I was afraid of that. I did realize that it is not cut down to her size yet, so there is a slight chance it might fit, but it is going to be tight. Color/shading shouldn't be an issue. If it does fit, I am going to be thankful I went with 1/3 yd extra, rather than the 1/4 her teacher told me to get. So, for further/future learning, if the pattern on the fabric is directional we will need to make sure the grain line will work. I do know that directional will most likely require additional fabric depending on what she is making. Thinking ahead because the store is getting Doctor Who fabric in May lol.

My 11 year is making a dress in her sewing class. We started cutting out the pattern at last week's class and for some reason could not fit all the piece on the recommended yardage. This was with the teacher's assistance.
More fabric was bought and washed and today we are trying to finish, before class tomorrow. We are down to the last pieces to cut out - 2 for the back and I realize that the pattern won't fit the way the grainline shows to lay it.
How big of an issue is this?

My vent is weather related... It is beautiful outside, and continued to last throughout the weekend. We are in the PNW and this is rare for February. We made plans to go the beach this weekend and play around with time lapse photography of the sun setting. I ordered the part I need for time lapse and just found out it might not make it in time . Amazon prime showed delivery for tomorrow, but I just got an email that due to the bad weather in Kentucky, it is stuck, and might not make it. They could not give any more info than that, so maybe it will before we leave, but I am not getting my hopes up. Frustrated because lately I have been choosing the delayed shipping for my packages to get the MP3 credits for free music. The one time I need it in two days, it is delayed beyond anyone's control.

I made $10.50/hr working child care in a center and that was with a degree. Raises were pathetic... .11 or .23. Yes, that was 8 years ago, but looking at job postings now, it may have only gone up a dollar or two. The only thing that made it worth my while, if my daughter attended free anytime I was working. Yes, that adds something to the hourly wage, but if iwa s childless, I would have made the same starting. The insanity of it hit, when I decided I would like a night out with my husband. I asked the high schooler who helped me in the afternoons if she would watch my daughter for a few hours. She charged $10/hr. I had to say no, becuase there was no way I was giving over 100% of my hourly take home to a babysitter.

Yes, I absolutely would gently ask if she (or he) needed something, and if no, I'd just walk away knowing I had tried to offer assistance to someone who was clearly in distress. When my mom (and most recently my dad) were gravely ill and dying, and I was desperately trying to get home in time, I found myself both times in the airport crying and alone. A kind word form anyone would have been very welcome. I think everyone has had a moment like that. I usually respect people's privacy but I imagine if you are upset enough to openly cry like that, you may have a problem. Maybe you need to borrow a phone to make a call, or maybe you just need a small assurance that it'll be ok. This almost word for word. This was me when I was flying home shortly after my mom was diagnosed with full blown leukemia. I cut another trip short the second I heard she had a fever, and on my connection layover heard they were taking her to the hospital. I knew she only had 1-3 months based on the type of leukemia. I never felt more alone, so the kindness of a stranger or even Kleenex from someone probably would have been appreciated. I would rather err on possibly embarrassing someone, than to leave someone who could have used someone to talk to alone.

My favorite passing was 5 years ago. We saw the ISS pass with another light right behind it. It was the space shuttle getting ready to dock with the ISS. On the next passing, it was docked and the ISS was even brighter.
This is one thing I really miss about moving from the high desert to the PNW. Out star gazing nights are a lot less now.

Very funny! Be warned tho some of those things smell as bad as the real thing. Oh, no! All I've ever smelled is the fruity ones. We switch my MIL to one when she moved in with us. We only allow the tobacco flavored and the one she uses smells kind of like graham crackers.

I have not seen anyone that I can remember, but I would probably see if they needed something.
I know how it feels to be there and feel so alone. Three years ago I had found out that my mom's leukemia had progressed and I knew from research that she only had 1-3 months to live. I ended up cutting a trip short and was flying home (where I grew up, not lived) when I found out they were taking her to the hospital due to fever. I was in the Denver airport and lost it. To me, I knew that meant the end would come sooner. Quietly crying for an hour waiting for my connection and not one person said a word.

My daughter will be 12 next year and I know my dad will be asking for her Santa photo. I bet she will do it, so he can add it to his wall. He has every single one from the time she was 3 mos old up on the wall. We joke that he only has room for one more but he says he will figure it out. I think as long as the kids are willing, there is no "too old". Your question made me remember these boys that I read about in 2013. 34 years of Santa photos

Allowance is not tied to chores here. When she first started getting an allowance (age 6 maybe?). I set it up so she got 1/2 of age in dollars and on her birthday, she would get a 'raise.' I am sure this will change as she gets older and her needs change. She does have the chance to sometimes earn extra but that requires above and beyond normal daily/weekly chores.

I suggest you email or telephone them and ask. Please let us know what they say once you find out. I had looked through everything too and had tried searching. Honestly, I thought about contacting them but was afraid that they might say no... Silly I know...or that they would realize that they did allow it but shouldn't....
