she could get the shot next week when we are there but it won’t be in time How can you get vaccinated here?? You're from Canada...just curious There are lots of stories of Canadians getting vaccinated/boosted while travelling to the US. Not sure if the pharmacies are supposed to be validating residency, but it sounds (anecdotally) that it’s rare that they are.

I know you’re talking about Disneyland and not Disney World, but I’ll share our experience. We went to Disney World for 5 nights - 4 days in the parks from December 19-22. We did no indoor dining or shows and wore masks at all times they were required, plus some (crowded outdoor areas, etc). We now all 4 have Covid. DH brought it home and our entire household has caught it, despite precautions to isolate him.
We tested negative and thus were able to travel back, and he came down with it a few days later - but we didn’t see anyone in the meantime so it’s definitely a result of our trip.
We are all vaccinated but not boosted (not yet eligible).
I would assume you will catch Covid if you go to Disney. Make sure that you can live with that outcome if you decide to go. I don’t regret going, because it’s a trip we had paid for and put off, and frankly the mental health boost was good for us. But we gambled and lost on the physical health front.

I would hope anyone coughing up a lung would not end their quarantine just because their fever is subsiding. I don’t think fear is stunting my intelligence in saying so.

Yet the CDC says 5. No wonder why people are confused. The CDC says 5 days for people who test positive but are ASYMPTOMATIC... they have no symptoms. People with symptoms quarantine for 10 days from the start of their symptoms. I am amazed at how hard the distinction is for some of you. Asymptomatic, “or their symptoms are resolving”… which opens up a wide range of interpretation as to what ‘resolving’ means. Respectfully, I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault but the CDC’s that this is unclear. Edited to add full CDC text: Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation for the public. People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.

I’m really curious to see how this all turns out. My entire family is currently Covid positive, likely with omicron. 3 of us were able to get PCR tests before the government shut them down for non essential workers due to lack of availability. We want to travel for March Break and I’m already worried about it. My daughter wasn’t able to get a PCR so if she tests positive prior to travel, we won’t be able to prove that she’s recovered. And the test results that I got off the government website for the rest of us today don’t contain enough information to pass as travel documents. This is going to be a shitshow.

I was never a fan of tea until I got the David’s Tea advent calendar last year, and loved it. Now I drink their tea pretty much daily. The fruit infusions are my favourites and I had a pitcher of their iced tea in my fridge all summer long.

SOL DE JENIERO BRAZILIAN BUM BUM BODY CREAM I buy it at Sephora. I give it for gifts with the Brazilian bum bum body scrub. I also like the bom dia bright body cream scent as well, same brand. The lush sleepy mentioned above sounds good too. I’ve been wanting to try a lush product after they pulled out of all social media. Maybe I’ll buy it for dd. She loves sleepy type products. I was going to say Bum Bum Cream, too. If you can get over the name ( ) - the scent is just heavenly.

We are scheduled to leave on Saturday for Florida, and after an incredibly stressful week of changing our position on it at least a dozen times, we're going to go. Our reasons are as follows:
We think we will actually be safer in an environment where we'll spend most of our time outdoors, not cooped up indoors with poor ventilation; Our health insurance is still valid (confirmed after 2 calls to the insurers); We are driving across the border and flying from Cleveland - and we have a rental car booked as backup to drive back to Cleveland in case any of us test positive, so we won't be stranded; We are working from home and our kids won't have to return to school for 11 days after we get home - i.e. we will be set up well to quarantine if we need to; Our trip is happening soon enough that while case numbers are rising, they are not yet totally out of control. If we weren't due to leave for another couple of weeks, I wouldn't be as comfortable.
We've had a hell of a year from a mental health perspective. We need this. We'll take every precaution along the way, but we don't intend to cancel the trip.

We have a slab foundation. I suspect the mouse got in near our back steps where those little holes that allow ventilation into your foundation are - there's been a couple of times we've seen mouse droppings on the steps. I've read that I should plug those holes with fabric (so the air can still flow). But do I want to do this if it will potentially trap the mouse inside the house?

We have what we are pretty sure is a mouse in our walls. We've heard it 3 times, in 3 different walls, both interior and exterior walls. Who knows - there could be more than one mouse (shudder). The problem is that we've never seen it, nor any evidence of it (chewed food, droppings, etc.) For all intents and purposes, you'd never know there is a mouse, other than a faint scratching noise coming from inside the walls that is driving our cats completely bonkers. We baited a few traps and set them, but no luck - then again, like I said, if the mouse isn't coming out of the walls, then there's no way to catch him.
Has anyone had a similar experience and what did you do? I've read that we should drill a hole in one of the walls and leave a trap right next to it. Before I go drilling holes, do you have any other tricks for me to try?

I am dealing with this firsthand with my family. Never thought we’d be here, and yet we are.
The first two professionals we’ve seen have not worked out for us and we’re on a 3 month waitlist for a third. They are completely backed up because of the numbers of people desperate for help.
We are fully vaccinated and we are starting to make choices that are more risky from a covid exposure perspective, but that will bring us moments of joy to help stave off some of the despair we are dealing with in between. We have been very risk averse up until now and I can’t help but think it’s exacerbated the situation.

I agree with AussieMeg’s interpretation of the numbers, but I would also add that if I wanted to emphasize a negative feeling about how small my number of friends is, I would use ‘few’. If I wanted to emphasize it as a positive, in that I do have some, I would use ‘a few’. I think this one is more about context than the literal number.

Dad is getting a year of Amazon Prime and a power bank that jump starts his car. FIL is getting a year of Portal of Prayer (Lutheran prayers), a page a day prayer calendar, and a book of old west stories. What about a Man Crate? A subscription for unlimited car washes in town? oil changes? I like the Prime idea and may steal that for my hard-to-buy-for parents. How do you 'wrap it up' to gift it to him?

We are going to Walt Disney World right before Christmas, a trip deferred from last year. We are planning to use Genie+/Lightning Lane to cut down on time spent hanging out in lines next to groups of strangers, no indoor shows and no indoor dining, though we probably wouldn’t do that even without covid. I’m ok with outdoor activities like parades and fireworks and will mask up anywhere I feel uncomfortable.
This will be our first international trip since 2019 and on the one hand it feels weird to be planning it, but on the other hand, I feel like it’s time to get back out there.

I was just going to ask if the Disney trip prompted this thread! Lol
She has not been stalked, at all. She posts her personal shit all over the internet and then cries foul when people notice it. Case in point, this summer people figured out that she traveled to Europe because she was constantly gushing about her Peloton stats and they were reporting in a different time zone. Figuring that out was in no way stalking her.
She is entertaining in a train wreck, schadenfreude kind of way.

We gifted our parents a Skylight frame at the start of the year. It wasn't cheap, but they are technology impaired and it is very user-friendly. My sisters and I are all able to email photos to it (none of us live close by) and for them it's just plug-and-play.

I am intrigued, but I hate gore. Is it gory? Scary? I don't think it's too scary; you pretty much always know what's going to happen (at least, after the first game, you do). There is certainly a lot of blood, and I can think of at least one scene with brains ... but otherwise not too gory, either.

I loved it and binged it, too. It very much reminded me of the movie Parasite - kind of a horror-slash-dark comedy that sends a message about social status/class. I started out watching with subtitles but switched to dubbing. I found I missed too much of the emotion on the actors’ faces when I was reading along.

I work in the energy industry and am on a task force dealing with supply chain problems. Many of our suppliers are facing shortages due to covid outbreaks at production facilities. Today we found out there is a rubber plant in Malaysia that’s been shut down by the government due to a large outbreak, so those components will be in short supply for goodness knows how long. Even items that can be produced are still facing shipping delays dating back to that freighter in the Suez Canal backing things up. It’s a mess and it’s going to get worse.

Have you looked at Nordstrom.ca? They don't have the full range of what Nordstrom.com offers, but at least shipping and returns are free, are there are no duties.
I also find The Bay to be surprisingly good for dresses. They have lots to select from online, and then I return to store whatever doesn't work out.

Thanks!! tallgirl & paigepea How far in advance did you get to Pearson before your flight? Their website is recommending 90 minutes but not sure if that's enough. We're flying Air Canada to Vancouver I think we were about 2.5 hours early. We come from southwestern Ontario, and our main concern is always hitting bad traffic on the 401 right before the airport, but it was clear. Lines inside were short at both check-in and security. We had plenty of time to get something to eat (though many places were closed) and get ready to go. We flew WestJet to Winnipeg.

I have a domestic flight out of Toronto next week, and I'm already dreading it. I've heard the airport is just a mess For what it’s worth - we flew domestic through Pearson last week (first flights since covid started). We expected the worst and were pleasantly surprised. I hope you are, too.

We are travelling right now - in the Canadian sub-Arctic for wilderness tours. It’s the riskiest thing we’ve done this whole pandemic. We haven’t even eaten in a restaurant since covid began, until this week. The flights were a bit nerve-wracking but now that we’re here, we feel very safe. However, we are supposed to do Disney at Christmas, and I think we’re going to cancel for the second year in a row. I can’t imagine going to Florida right now, even though we’re all fully vaccinated. Maybe Christmas 2022?
