Wait - just realized - the garden meatball recipe linked here is different than the one posted here. Which one is yummy? Both?

What a great video! I'm curious about the concerts. What groups were they? The 1975, One Republic, Tegan and Sara, and The 1975 again (I am kind of obsessed with them right now. ?) Too funny - that is totally not the right emoticon! That's what I get for choosing it through my keyboard rather than on the site I guess.

I am going to give it a shot. I just finished my 2014 year edit video… 2014 Year Edit…and I had been wanting to do something similar yet different for 2015. If I can keep it up, I think the one second per day format might be a fun change. I got a clip at midnight last night so right now I am one for one. Woot! I don't think I'm going to use an app though, since I want to mix in footage from my GoPro and DSLR too. I am just using iMovie. What a great video! I'm curious about the concerts. Yes I am planning on doing it too. So far so good - it's day 2 of the year and I have 2 videos already - yay me!! I downloaded the app yesterday. I think it's a great idea to have a thread to check in and see how we're all going. I am not going to be anal about it though - there might be some days where I don't do a video and other days where I do 2 - I'm not keen on putting in shots of "Oooops I forgot" in the middle of the video, I personally think it ruins it. It's not like anyone is going to be watching it and marking off 365 days to make sure I didn't miss one!! I agree with this. I have done Project 365 a couple of times and it honestly doesn't matter if you have two pictures one day and none the next. Nobody will ever know. Makes it a lot easier to manage, too.

OK, I'll play. We go to a house party every year. The kids are allowed to shoot silly string in the rec room at midnight. My kids look forward to it all year. I think it takes our friends most of the year to get the silly string out of their carpet! Sadly this year DD got sick partway through the night and DH left early to take her home, so no family photo ringing in the new year.

I figure today is as good a day as any to make the crab legs I've had in the freezer forever. Plus, I'll be happy to have my freezer space back!

The breakfast at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom is my favourite, for the food, ambience, and characters (Disney classics - Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey. I made a reservation for Tusker House! I also made one for 1900 Park Fare and Garden Grill. I think. We'll stick with 3 character meals. I also made one for 50s Prime Time Cafe. Ill be honest. I think it's silly to have to make dining reservations 5 months out. I totally understand that it would be important for the character meals. When we went 5 years ago, we went in October. We had reservations for character meals, but nothing else. Due to it being the off season, we were able to call places in the morning and get what we wanted. I know things will be different in June and we are adjusting our expectations accordingly. 50s Prime Time is absolutely my favourite place to eat! The CM interaction is awesome. When we went in August, the waitress had the restaurant give my son a round of applause for cleaning his plate, and when my DH asked for a drink refill, she brought him half a dozen, along with "the Bedwetter's Guide to Hollywood Studios" - a park map with the location of every restroom circled. It was a hoot!

That is so cool! I'm working on my 2014 year edit video, but this is such an awesome idea, I may need to copy you for 2015. Thanks for the inspiration! I will also say, what is mundane to you is fascinating to me.

Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.
I love this movie. One of the most quotable ever!

I am the same way (avoiding confrontation) and was told at work that I need to speak up more. It doesn't come naturally but I make an effort now to do it. The most liberating part of it has been seeing that it doesn't usually end up escalating -it's very possible to disagree on an issue and still be on good terms. I am lucky in that my job usually requires me to disagree with someone 'for the record', I.e. Someone else may have ultimate decision making authority, I just need to register my opinion. Likewise when I make decisions, I take into account others' opinions, but ultimately it's my call to make.
What has helped is practice, practice, practice. You do it once, the world doesn't end, it's easier to do it next time. But I get where you are coming from. It's not easy for some of us.

I get up at 5 several days a week. On those days I have been known to sneak home on my lunch hour for a half hour nap before going back to the office. I live less than ten minutes away from my office, and I rarely get to go to bed before 10-11 at night. A half hour of sleep at lunch is enough to take the edge off and get me through the day.
A few years ago, I tried getting by on less sleep than I really need. I wound up getting run down, didn't fully recover from a cold I caught, and was then diagnosed with pneumonia. It was a valuable lesson about taking care of myself and ensuring that I get enough sleep.

Re-caulking my shower.
And once those are done, I give myself permission to finish my 2014 family photo book.

I was talking about buying a potato ricer a few weeks ago,and DH gave me the whole "don't go buying yourself anything new right before Christmas" routine. So I specifically said I would not buy one but need one for Christmas dinneR so... Santa had better come through.
Guess what? No ricer. DH 'forgot'. Not my fault if our mashed potatoes were lumpy.

I don't do my pages til the New Year, so I can't really comment; but would it help if you just copied Ali's. That might get you started & on your way? I do sometimes do that, but she uses fewer pictures than I do and never really has used much of the kits. I love the look of her pages, absolutely, but, honestly, I could buy a Handbook and not buy the kit and probably get pretty close to most of her layouts . I did not buy the kit this year, though I thought it was lovely. I did buy the kit last year and I have gobs left over. (The problem with that is that I don't want my album to look identical 2 years in a row!) You raise a good point though - I include way more photos, and way less artsy stuff, than Ali does, and when I buy a kit I want the kit to do it all for me - I don't want to have to supplement with anything else.

I would just extend the black background by an inch or so top and bottom to make it a 5x7. It's easy to do in Photoshop.

Yay, another GoPro thread! (I am obviously an enthusiast. ) I have the Hero 3+ black. The "+" really just means that it's wifi equipped. If I were going to buy one today, I would go with either the 4 Black or, if that weren't in the cards financially, I'd probably get the 4 Silver over the 3 or 3+ black. While the wide angle of view gives you a good chance of capturing the footage you want even without having a preview screen… I would take the preview screen, now that it's an option. Yes, I can rig up my GoPro to my phone to get a preview of my shot, but I have only done that in testing. It's too much of a pain when I'm actually shooting. And I shoot the most when I am on vacation and don't want to be paying international wifi charges on my phone. Having said that though, I've shot all my videos without the preview, and still think they turned out pretty well. My videos are linked in the threads linked above.

In about 1984 my dad gave my mom Chinese cooking lessons for her November birthday. That year she made us chicken chow mein and chop suey for Christmas Eve dinner, and we've done it ever since. She cooked it for a number of years and then moved to takeout, and now we do takeout with our kids before going to church.

…my son has no idea what he wants, and he cried his eyes out last night, worrying that he doesn't have time left to get a letter to Santa, and even if he could send one right then… he had no idea what to ask for.
I tried to calm him down, said he could write anytime, we can email Santa, and it's OK if there is nothing in particular he wants - he can let Santa pick out a few gifts to surprise him with. I don't know if he's feeling any better about it or not.
We have a few things we have picked up for him, but not everything. I guess I've been holding back a bit though, figuring that sooner or later he would find something he wants. Now I am not sure that will happen.
So… what does your 10 year old want? Because I might need to figure out what my son wants for him.

Haven't done it before, not sure if I will going forward. But, I really respect Ali's parenting. Not to say we do everything alike, because we don't, but I think she strikes a really great balance between work and play, responsibility and fun, etc. Plus, don't even get me started on her relationship with her ex; I really admire the environment they are raising those kids in, at least from what I see of it. She seems to have her head screwed on right so if she's good with it for Simon then so am I.

Epicurious recipe - with horseradish creamI used to make this every year until BIL developed Crohn's and couldn't eat beef any more. I still miss having it for Christmas dinner. It's hard to justify the expense otherwise! The cream is OK, but not a standout. It's the rub on the beef that really makes it.

Count me in the camp of those who think the elf is more trouble than he is worth. Last year our cats (who love to play with the kids' stuffed animals) must have absconded with the elf. I spent hours turning the house upside down looking for him. If he wasn't found, my daughter would have lost her shit in the morning. Finally found the elf behind the door in the master closet - huh?? I now ensure I don't do anything with him in reach of the cats, but that cuts down considerably on our options.

I guess I was hopeful, in the beginning, that they would find the magic bullet that either exonerates him or proves that he did it. I suppose I even thought in the beginning that that must be the reason why they're doing the show, because they have unearthed some really compelling evidence.
It's only in the last few weeks that I really got the sense that they are just making it up as they go along, and did not begin with the ending in mind.
On the one hand, that has made for some effective storytelling, because it really feels like we have learned the facts right along with the show host.
On the other hand, I expect the ending to be anticlimactic.

I just finished listening to this week's Serial podcast - episode 11 - "Rumors". It was really interesting.
At the end of the show she said that next week will be the last episode. (sad face) I really don't think there is going to be anything that proves or disproves whether he's guilty; it's just been an interesting story to listen to.
I will be mighty sad if there is a long lull in the action before they come back with Season 2!
