I often wonder what people think when I have busy alert nights. Honk honk all night. 😄 They are probably very unhappy about the bursts of this loud noise. Be kind to those who live around you and make the alert noise as low as possible. I wouldn't find this *funny* at all. I have people who live above me who are noisy and sometimes there is a crying child as well. The noise from their Romba is weird as it sounds like a bowling ball going down the lane, only for a very long time. Most of the people are quiet and polite. I live very quietly so very little noise from my unit. I don't play music or watch a lot of tv and the volume is always low. I mute commercials because I can't stand them. Well I said this kind of tongue in cheek, but it is not louder than a regular TV and I am not blasting it. It is just a strange sound to probably hear. I am a good neighbor and not overly loud or obtrusive. If you live close to others you will hear the sounds of people living. We all do not sit quietly in our houses…we live. There is a fine line to normal living and being a bad neighbor. I am a very good neighbor. 🤷🏻♀️

I will say that now that we are work from home one of my alerts that I need to monitor has an audible truck air horn sound and during the summer when windows and my slider is open I often wonder what people think when I have busy alert nights. Honk honk all night. 😄

I live in a townhouse style condo. I have lived here for over 25 years. Some neighbors have been better than others, but I really don’t hear a ton other than relatively quick bangs, barks, drops, etc. Nothing really on going.
I am a night owl so I am up late. Up until a couple of years ago I was gone most nights to work and I didn’t get home until after midnight so noise wasn’t really an issue then. The last few years we have been mostly work from home and I hear a bit more activity through the night but still don’t really hear very much. I also usually have Music or the Tv on, so that may mask it some if there is some.
I wish I had some sage advice for you, but it really is you just have to put up with it. If you think it is more than normal “living” noise from neighbors I would suggest talking with them or approaching your association/property management company if you think bylaws are being broken. Good luck. Sorry for your noisy situation.

The board is often slow before a holiday (probably as it should be. Hahaha). As a way to procrastinate and to try to do my part, I thought I would start a thread. I could not come up with anything really thread worthy or that needed its own thread. 🤷🏻♀️😄.
Then I saw these stories on our local news: Montreal criminals targeting local travelers with AirTags.
Syrup producers branch out to birch trees I love to hear/see different headlines of stories that people are talking about in their areas. Feel free to add one from your area or anything else that you want to say...or not. 😄

What I have started doing with leftovers that I want to freeze is to put them in a container the shape and size I want them frozen in. I put them into the freezer until they are frozen. Then take them out and pop out the frozen portion and food seal it in a bag. I do it with stews, slices of pizza, etc. I’ve done stuffed shells, meat pie and other weird items.
Then when I take them out I can either thaw them as is or in an appropriate dish. Some things are just put on a plate and microwaved.
The same concept as the Souper things but I like flatter bags as they stack better and take up less room. I also just use a sharpie and mark what it is and the date made/froze.
ETA- the short version 😆. Flash freeze and then food saver seal them in bags.

All I have seen so far is that they raided 2 of Sean Combs’ houses at the same time, LA and Miami maybe? The Harry element is interesting. All kinds of breaking news today…truthfully I so much prefer dull and slow news days. 😔

It was exactly like watching a domino display go down. That was terrible, traumatic, and just totally wild. Holy moly. So sad, as they are saying there has been some casualties. Wow, if I didn’t know better and just watched the clip I would chalk it up to a movie scene.
Thanks for the link, I had just seen the video on our early morning news but missed part of the story of where and what happened so was just on my way to find more information.
It is extremely lucky that it happened in the middle of the night though. I think the death toll could be much higher if it was a busy part of the day or evening.

DD and her roommate are at an impasse because the roommate was passed out on the bathroom floor several weeks ago and DD called a mutual friend to ask her to come over for support. According to the roommate, that was totally out of line. I tried to reassure DD that she did the right thing, asking, "But who would be the first person to be blamed if something tragic had happened to your roommate?" I honestly don't care if they ever speak again. Roommate has been merciless with DD, who is heartbroken. I feel for so many of those involved in Riley Strain's situation. It's never the wrong thing to do to look out for your less-than-sober friends. My DD lives in an apartment with 3 other girls. She will comment that she is alone, not sure where the other roommates are. I was shocked, I said, "don't you all discuss schedules or let each other know where you are heading out?" She said she stopped bc the roommate before them basically accused her of being nosy, in her business, acting like her mother. When Laken Riley was murdered and then Riley Strain became missing, I reiterated with both kids the importance of having a buddy or at least letting people know your plans. This is one of the reasons I keep Find My Friends on both my kids, and my parents. I don't use it to be nosy, but kids always seem to think "it will never happen to me" or "I'll be fine." Im sure Laken thought she would be fine running in the middle of the day - if her roommate hadn't alerted the authorities so quickly, they may not have caught the guy so quickly. While I agree in theory with your comment, I do not think it is really realistic to think that college (or after) roommates discuss daily schedules or where people are going. I didn’t do that 35 years ago and we were all good friends. That was also before the day of cell phones so there wasn’t even the option of messaging, texting, etc. However we did let each other know if we were going to be away for a few days, but there were many times that someone stayed over somewhere else or at a girlfriend/boyfriend’s place, etc. Big trips or weekends away were usually communicated. I am almost 60 years old and my brother, my mother, and I all allow tracking of each other on Find my Friends. It was mostly so that I wouldn’t have to call when I got home after leaving their houses or our camp at night. It is not to be obtrusive, it is just to be able to make sure people get to where they are going. My parents have just turned 80. When we leave our camp I go 1.5 hrs in one direction, my parents go 2.0 hrs in another direction, and my brother an hour in another. I typically always called or FaceTimed my parents when I thought they should be home to just make sure all was well, now I can just do a quick look.

Such a sad sad situation. As someone who has said numerous times (as have all my friends) that I feel so lucky making it through some of my teen and earlier years alive and with not a lot of trauma, but it is totally luck.
At anytime and in a matter of seconds there could have been a completely different outcome. It is very hard to navigate this anytime but even more so as a young person. And typically as the night wears on all the thoughts and plans that were agreed on/made earlier seem to fade away. There really needs to be not only a designated driver but also a designated manager when out in groups, especially at vacation places. Someone who will agree not to drink (or at least more than a couple of drinks) and keep an eye on everyone. Not an easy job though.
His family and friends’ lives will never be the same and my heart goes out to them.

A brunch buffet at an upscale restaurant. Reservations have been made. Easter is the most important religious celebration for me. There is Maundy Thursday (celebration of the Last Supper), Good Friday (Crucifixion of Christ), Easter Sunday Sunrise Service (Resurrection of Christ) and then regular morning church service. I'm grateful that I live in Ontario, Canada as Good Friday and Easter Sunday are Statutory Holidays (Federal & Optional Provincial) and most stores and businesses are closed. Easter Saturday is a horrible day for shopping as everyone is cramming in what they would have done on Friday and can't do on Sunday. I think that this is great because as Statutory holidays, they are paid holidays and employees (especially retail) can spend the days with their families. There will be arguments that stores should be open every single day but I'm glad that Canada is an outlier in this situation. This provides a work/life balance. Schools are closed on Good Friday as well as Easter Monday. And again, there are some exceptions to these rules; areas that are designated Tourist Destinations have the option of being open and what the local municipal jurisdiction by-laws have mandated. Easter Monday is a weird holiday as schools in Ontario and Federal/Provincial government offices are closed as is Canada Post (Crown Corporation) but Banks and retail are open. Apparently financial institutions cannot be closed for more than 3 days in a row. While I don’t totally disagree with you, the problem is there are a lot of other non-critical industries that will be open. So why not make it that way for all non critical places of work? And not everyone is religious or celebrates Easter. What about the work/life balance of all the people that are working in the restaurant that you will be having dinner at? I work for a health network so many will be working. I am not this year. A (extra) discretionary holiday was added to our paid holiday list this year (because of different cultures, religions, etc). I took Presidents’ Day as a way to use it up as I really had nothing else I could think of. I was going to take Bennington Battle day (a Vermont state holiday that only state workers seem to have off. 😆)

I’m Catholic. My family celebrates Easter as a *bigger* religious holiday, holy day, than Christmas. I can only speak for myself, of course. In fact, oddly though it may be, I have always had deep feelings for Good Friday. And everything it entails. I try real hard to attend the Stations of the Cross. Palm Sunday is also important to our family. Again, only speaking about how me and my immediate family feel/act about Easter. I grew up in a religious Catholic family. On Good Friday we had to stay inside from the hours of 12-3 (hours of Christ’s agony), no tv or radio, just read the Bible. The Easter season is arguably the holiest Catholic holiday, beginning with Ash Wednesday, Lent, Palm Sunday and Easter week - Washing of the Feet, Last Supper, Good Friday and the Resurrection. Grew up in a French Canadian Catholic family. Ham was the main meal at both sides’ (mother and father) meal. Since Holy Thursday and Good Friday are not holy days of obligation I don’t remember that we had a strict church schedule (plus my father does not attend church), and I didn’t have to do stations of the cross, etc. My mother attended but I wasn’t always required to. There was a bunch of us that did have to go to Ash Wednesday mass and had permission to leave, attend mass, and then we all Went back to school. You could always tell us Catholic kids walking around with the black ash crosses/smudges on our foreheads. 😄 I am not working this year. We stopped doing the large extended family Easter dinner during the Pandemic. And now that my grandmother passed away in October, sadly I. doubt we will ever go back to doing that. My brother’s family and I will go to my parents. Ham is on the menu.

I buy the Costco box of frozen unbaked croissants. I leave them out for about 20 minutes and then bake them. They are amazing. I can just do a couple or sometimes 4 and reheat them for a few minutes if I eat them later and they are just like when they were first baked. Interesting. I have never seen these in my Cali Costco. I am also intrigued. I have never seen them in my Vermont/NewEngland Costco either. But I am sure there are a ton of things I am missing that I would love. 😄. I love learning of these things. Does anyone in the US know if they sell them this way here and if so where do you typically find them?

I agree with others that I would only do them for 5 minutes or so and would only do them right before, but I never tried it. I typically cut them and then pan fry them if they are not fresh. Good luck. I love chicken salad on croissants. 😁

Good luck with your situation. I would not feel pressure from Peas/anyone to file. You are the one in the situation and the one that knows all the little nuances of your job, needs, coworkers, leadership, etc. When, and if, you feel comfortable file. If you don’t want to or don’t feel comfortable then I wouldn’t and I wouldn’t feel guilty. I would probably be someone who wouldn’t file unless there was really egregious actions by some.
While I know this will be frowned upon and I know it is not what many of the Peas would support or what they say they would do…but filing a complaint to HR would be the absolute last resort for me.
I wish you the best with your terrible situation and hope that you get a new company, a new job, or just a resolution to your ongoing issues.

I am going to repost my opinion on this again I am not sure that you saw it. 😉 IMO, absolutely. I agree that the “bloodbath” comment was said when he was talking about the auto industry and not just a general comment…HOWEVER if you think that when he said it he was only speaking about the auto industry and that he was not trying to insinuate anything else than I have a bridge to sell you.Listen to his comments: "Now, if I don't get elected, it's gonna be a bloodbath for the whole -- that's gonna to be the least of it -- it's gonna be a bloodbath for the country. That'll be the least of it," he said. for the whole??? Industry ? That is what he knew he should say but purposely made it a comment that is not just talking about the car industry. And anyone paying attention or who knows Trump’s m.o. will have a hard time denying that…or at least they should. 😉 Despite your insistence that "you can only see it one way, or at least you should" Not just the auto industry but the whole economy of the country. He is not calling for violence. Well I guess we are disagreeing but I did preface it with IMO. But thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay in responding. I ask earlier and was wondering if you agreed with Trump’s thoughts on Cheney that he posted: SHE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE TO OUR COUNTRY! SHE ILLEGALLY DESTROYED THE EVIDENCE. UNREAL!!!” Do you believe this to be true?

Not my thing and Teresa Collins is not anyone that would have anything that I would want or that I want to learn anything from, so it would be a hard no for me. At the beginning I thought it was just 280.00 to be able to pre shop her sale or whatever it is and that was a oh hell to the no, who would be crazy to do that. But after looking at the schedule she is offering other things and I assume it includes at least one really good meal…so if this type of event is your thing or you like Teresa, I don’t think it is that bad of a deal. I pay quite a bit for concert tickets, others might think it is crazy but it is my thing and worth it. This wouldn’t be something I would be tempted by, even for free. 😆 I was wondering what the moving sale end of it entailed. Is she enticing people to a crafting event and then giving them an option to buy stuff in her house just so she can get rid of her furnishings, or is the moving sale scrapbooking items that she would like to not have to move? Ah good point. I assumed it was a warehouse of new products. Even worse if it is crap from her house. I would then add you couldn’t even pay me to attend that. 😆😆. I hope someone has some more information because I am really curious now.

I would offer help or to make something but I certainly would not fault/judge anyone who didn’t want to.
Usually I am the one feeling bad because no one is stepping up to celebrate whatever (I have a small multi shift department where the majority wouldn’t even think about having a party for some things 😄). My manager is the only other one that would probably plan something and we are close so she would include me in the beginning and it would probably only be on us. It would be great to every now and then to just pick something to contribute and let the rest be on someone else.
ETA - so I answered no for should you donate (the poll question), no I think you have no obligation to. But I would answer yes to the question would I offer to donate. Clear as mud? 😆

No, I would not attend. I would decline the invite or e-mail my regrets (however you typically do it).
I work 2nd shift but often have to attend meetings before my shift. I make every effort to attend but when there are sudden changes or added meetings there is no guarantee that I can make it and do not feel the least bit guilty if I can’t. They are more than welcome to schedule them during my working hours and I certainly will attend.
