Finish my week's grading for University of Phoenix, laps at the pool, and get my four online classes ready to open Monday for my full time job. DH is taking DS shoe shopping to get them out of the house so that I can concentrate with no distractions.

At least your (Texas) guy has hair. We have a cadaver that I call "Governor Voldemort." I don't like him one little bit. Here is hoping that our Governor Voldemort is also indicted soon. That man is sooo sleazy and abuses his power, too. Not to mention that he models his governorship on Rick "Good Hair" Perry's style and keeps introducing similar uber-conservative legislation.

Mine just made himself Velveeta and shells to match up with leftover crowder peas and roast venison. We always try to keep chicken salad, cooked chicken breasts, and salad fixings in the fridge. If you do a couple of casseroles and/or crockpot meals per week, they can add a salad. With the leftovers they will have plenty of options.

I am so sorry about your loss. My own aging kitty (17) is reclining on the back of the couch, leaning against my head as she does every chance she gets. Although I bitch constantly about having to wear her tail as a mustache or headband, I know that when she's gone I will miss her horribly.
Let's hope that all our beloved pets can hang out in fur baby heaven together.

Pick a team pro sport, ANY team pro sport, and mine will watch it. He's also a fan of tennis and has been known to watch golf, too, if there's no baseball, football, hockey, soccer, basketball, water polo, rugby, cricket (okay, he really doesn't watch the last 3). Because of his addiction, I know far too much about far too many sports that I don't give a crap about.

It depends on the time of year. During the summer, whenever I feel like it, often after 2 AM. Once classes are back in session and I have to be in my office or a classroom by 8:30, I'm in bed by 11, 11:30 at the latest.

WTH is this test you're taking??? I've never seen anything like that. With the cultural questions, I think that all the answers should be Agree, but with the top section, those sound like questions asked in an interview to get an idea of your personality. I don't know that there is a definite right answer for some of them.

During high school and college, I worked for (what is now) Dillard's. At the time, it had a "you can't ask for a receipt policy" coupled with "we will take anything back, no matter what." I remember vividly having one woman pointed out to me. When her son was born, she'd bought him several full outfits, including shoes. Every time her son outgrew an outfit, she returned it, pointing out a frayed seam or hole in the sock or the like. The store then allowed her to replace the outfit in a bigger size. They didn't force her to stick with same brand or figure out a price point or anything. She did this for 18 years, until her son graduated from high school and joined the military.

Thanks for posting this! I've signed up as well--and am really glad it's using the Canvas platform, which is so much easier than ed-X'. Is it? How is it different? I've done a couple edX classes, so I'm curious. The discussion boards are MUCH more user friendly. The module organization is more transparent; in general, it's easy to figure out how to find, use, or get anything you need within the course. I just started teaching in Canvas. Compared to the other two platforms I've taught in, it has more bells and whistles. It is closer to a Coursera feeling than edX.

I have purged cookbooks in the past as I get most of my recipes from Pinterest or other online sources. However, if I really like an internet recipe, I print it out and add it to one of the five HUGE binders in which I've been collecting recipes since I was in high school. So I don't think I will ever be completely paperless.

Anyone who wants to see any HBO programs, old or current, if you subscribe to HBO, you can automatically access HBOGo. It has all episodes of all series streaming, including True Blood, The Sopranos, Big Love and Sex in the City. It's how I managed to finish Big Love and get caught up on True Blood. I second All in the Family, The Crosby Show, and China Beach. I loved all of those programs. Is Oz available on HBOGo? I ask because Verizon gave me a month of free HBO and I looked on HBOGo and I didn't see it. I would consider subscribing if we could watch Oz. What I wish they would put on Netflix streaming - Oz and Friends. I've seen it there!

From my own experience back when we rode dinosaurs to school, that is pretty typical. After a week, I still didn't want to open my mouth very much and it took some more time for full mobility to return.

I have problems sometimes with words that I learned by reading, not hearing. The biggest one that gets me is "wholly." When I was a kid reading it, that looks like it should be pronounced "Wally," so I have to be careful when I'm speaking not to say it incorrectly.

Sometimes, yes. I always have a student or two, generally online, who just will not pay attention to the instructions, announcements, and personal emails about his/her poor performance in a class. At the end of the semester, there's an "OMG, I'm FAILING! If I don't pass this class, I lose my Pell Grant (or loan, GI Bill, whatever)" phone call, begging for another chance, extra credit---basically to let him/her get a passing grade for not meeting the requirements. While I feel sorry for them, . . . NO.

How horrible that a man who made the world laugh was so profoundly depressed. I hope he is peace now, but his talent and great heart will be missed. Robin Williams IS the comedian of my era; no one can replace him.

We enjoy cooking and there are three in our family with occasional guests. There is no way we could live with four of everything (or even eight or twelve), primarily because I'm NOT going to be hand washing dishes because we've run out of forks or glasses, but the dishwasher isn't full enough to run. As it is, we bought extra spoons because that seems to be the utensil we use more than any other.

I'm on my second Nook, the Simple Touch with glow light. DH has the Nook color (not the tablet). I also have an iPad, so I have the Nook app loaded on it as well as the Kindle app and can read there as well.
I'm a huge Amazon fan; however, I just didn't like the feel of the Kindle when I was first in the market for an e-reader. Now that I have so many Nook books, I don't see changing.

I gave those garcinia cambogia pills a month before calling it quits. If you are feeling stronger and have more energy, I'd keep on with the exercise routine and maybe visit your doctor for advice on a diet to add to it.
Have you made sure that you aren't eating too few calories and throwing yourself into starvation mode so that it's harder to lose weight?

The RATT isn't as dated as the Barbie dolls with their legs stuck through a roll of toilet paper and wearing a fugly crocheted ball gown sitting on the back of the toilet. I swear every house had one of those things in the bathroom when I was growing up.
As far as the RATT, we have a rug in front of the toilet to keep our feet off the cold tiles, but it gets washed every week, along with whatever towels haven't already made it to the laundry and the bathmat. Before we remodeled, there was carpeting in front of the sink (tub and toilet were in a separate room); that was disgusting! How does one clean hairspray and powder out of shag?

I haven't, but my mother is starting her third series (one for ovarian 20 years ago; one for breast cancer two years ago; current for breast cancer in other breast--yes, she has the BRAC mutation). After the first 20'years ago, we didn't notice any memory issues. However, after the second two years ago, her memory got horrible. Now, she was also 79 and the chemo threw her into a-fib, so we don't know that we can blame all the forgetfulness on chemo. Age and other health issues probably are involved, too.

It's not just universities, either. My community college has a "tuition-drop" day for those who registered but haven't paid in full. And then there is the same scramble to re-enroll in the same class for most of those students. Unfortunately, many of ours are waiting for loans or Pell Grant monies to be placed in their accounts, so they literally CAN'T pay the tuition. They don't have the money yet.

Do I think that the pastor was thinking, "Oh, I hate the gays"? No. Do I think that he had no idea that the deceased was gay and went into shock when he found out, based on his congregation's belief system? Definitely. Anyone in the South can tell you that a "missionary" Baptist church is NOT gay-tolerant, much less gay-friendly.
I still think it was crappy of him to cancel the funeral the day before it was scheduled. On the other hand, I have to wonder what the family was thinking to schedule it at a church of this denomination. Was he a member? I am not trying to blame the victim or excuse the pastor---just seriously confused about the choices all the way around.

If I'm alone, I listen to a course from The Teaching Company on a subject I'm interested in. That way I can get in some professional development on my commutes. DH finds them boring, so if he's in the car with me, it's either radio or his iPod in my car or Sirius radio in his.

Although we HAVE a checkbook, I haven't carried one in at least five years. We have a couple of bills that we must pay by check (because the charge for electronic payment is higher than the inconvenience and postage of paying by check), but all told, not more than five per month.
When we send monetary gifts, we do so in the form of gift cards to a specific store like Target, Best Buy, or Amazon.
Every service person we use allows us to pay by credit card.
For that matter, most of the things we used to use a check or debit card for, we now put on our credit card, so that we earn points and then make one electronic payment per month.
