can you get a rental car for a few days? We could, but I'll survive. I just drive the Suburban as little as possible because it is in almost every way the opposite of my current car - a prius - and is just so dang huge. And I'm sure that if I explained to my parents they would tell me to just wait. But I know they need my car desperately and I know I will be fine driving the suburban for a couple days. It is just annoying. I don't understand how they didn't notice the chips/dents till 5 o'clock tonight. But I guess that it is nice that we will be getting a brand new hood out of it. The other odd thing was that the car was listed as a local car. But in the email the guy said that the chips are a common issue with cars coming from the North East. Now I'm worried about salt damage and the like too, which would never occurred to me since I assumed it was a California car so that wouldn't have been a problem. Silver lining, I know the company has crazy good customer service and we have another car on order from them (a new one) that will be coming sometime in the fall. And their main plant isn't far so if we have issues I do think they will take good care of us. I was just so excited to be finally getting the car tomorrow. Like i said...total first world vent. But I do appreciate the sympathy and the comments!

We were supposed to pick up our new to us car on February 20th. But we had a delay with a stock sale and the transfer of the funds. Due to scheduling issues on both ends the first appointment we were able to get was for tomorrow. I got an email 20 minutes ago saying that they just realized that the car arrived with rock dents in the hood and they want to replace the hood before we take delivery. And that it will take a week or so to get it done. I know we screwed up the first appointment, but in theory they have had the car since at least the 20th, if not before and they just realized tonight that there was an issue?!?! We are gifting my current car to my parents as they are down to one car and they really need a second car and have been so patient waiting for it. My mom was so excited that we were going to drop it off tomorrow night and sounded so relieved when we talked about it earlier today. We do have a third car, but I have to drive in San Francisco on Saturday and it is a Suburban, which is the last thing I want to drive up there and I can't take dh's car.
And I'm also stressing because I am due with baby #3 on March 27th, my last baby was 10 days early. I want to have this over and done with before the baby arrives, since we both have to go to the pickup and I just don't want to have to try to reschedule again. Appointments are at 4pm during the week or on weekends. We have events every weekend day till this baby comes and dh had already scheduled to take off early for tomorrow - since the dealership is 30-45 minutes away.
So really not the end of the world, but really, really annoying.

Woo Hoo!! Thank you! Can't wait to start reading! However since I'm 26 days from my due date I don't know if dh is going to appreciate it!

I've learned that the cheesy/smutty shifter romances I've been reading lately are often free with KindleUnlimited! It's like the universe *WANTS* me to read this shit. I must know what books you speak of! I am in need of some new ones!

I second a Garmin. I love mine. I just look down and I can set it to show me whatever metrics I want. Sometimes I run based on heart rate, other times by time or cadence.

I'm 36 weeks and have one scheduled for Tuesday. I can't wait! The last one I got was right after Christmas. This is my 3rd child and I had them more frequently with the other two pregnancies and never had any problems, I just didn't have as much time this time around to get them.

I wish we had solar panels! We are on a North West facing mountain in the middle of a redwood forest, so no go. We plan to eventually get a real charger since we will be getting a second electric car 3rd or 4th quarter of this year. But we are (hopefully) about to start a remodel that will require a bunch of electrical work. So I didn't really want to spend the $1,000 now when we will possible have to redo it in the next few months. I figure I don't need which charging, I'm home by two at the latest most days as don't tend to leave the house again after that (we live 20+ minutes from anything, so once I'm home for the day I don't usually leave again), so it can charge from 2pm-8am. Once dh has his, he will be able to charge at work (i think for free?). I just had someone recently tell me that when their dh had his electric car a few years ago that their bill shot up, so I was curious. I'm super excited!

I'm surprised they are hard to find. They are everywhere out here in CA or maybe it's just that dh gets them at work and is constantly bringing them home so it feels like they are everywhere. I am pretty sure they have been handed out at a couple races (5k/10k/half marathon) that we have done as well. I'm not a fan, but dh loves them. The bottle says they are in San Francisco, so they may indeed be everywhere out there. I am in the midwest, though. Things take a while to get here. That makes sense! We are 45 minutes from SF. So that is probably why dh's company stocks them.

I'm due next month with number 3 and we may or may not be done having kids after this one. But we are considering doing the cord blood banking this time around. I have a friend that works for Cord Blood Registry so I get the friend's and family discount, but it is still pricey. I have been doing all kinds of research, but I'm wondering if anyone has any expereince with it.
Thanks!

For a small dog I would go with one that has more of a "maze" with close posts/walls to the maze. Like this: linkMany are made for big dogs with bigger mouths so the parts intended to slow the dog down are far enough apart they don't slow down a small dog. we used a maze one for our beagle that would make herself sick by eating too fast and it was awesome. we had this onedog maze bowl gives you good results.

I'm intrigued! Thanks for the recommendation. There is a store locator on their site. A local store to me had just a few flavors available as single bottles, and that store does not show up on the store finder, so they must have been testing it to decide whether to carry it. You might be lucky and find some locally.

We are getting one next week and I was just wondering a couple things.
1) how much did your electric bill go up monthly (ballpark)? 2) did you go with an installed charger or are you just using a regular outlet to charge? 3) anything else you think we should know?!?
Thanks!

I was going to recommend the Stokke, but you said you weren't a fan of the infant thing. Did you have it with the tray? We got our second one super cheap on Craigslist, I have learned you have to stalk CL to get a good deal!

We have a Suburban which we love for long trips that we need to take tons of stuff. We are getting a Tesla S next week with the jump seats in the trunk - seats 5 adults and 2 kids total. And we have configured, but are waiting on our Tesla X that seats 7, since we didn't get the D version we won't get ours till probably late 3rd quarter, early 4th quarter.
Others that we drove and liked - Liked the space in the Ford Flex, but thought it was horribly ugly. Liked the Highlander hybrid and the new volvo cross over. I think it was the Acura MDX that was also nice and the GMC/Chevy Acadia (sp?).

At 35 weeks pregnant was trying to clean some stuff that I could (should) have added the house clearer to do the next time they came. And in doing so fell down three steps straight on to my belly (since I couldn't see my feet because I had stuff in my hands). Thankfully everything seems to be fine, but I had to spend five hours hooked up to machines at labor and delivery to make sure. Now I'm paranoid about every little twinge.

I know it drives DH nuts when his family comes to him with computer problems. Yes, he is a software engineer, no he will not set up or build a computer for you. He works for a large tech firm, don't ask him how to trouble shoot your issues with another firm, he isn't familiar with their stuff.
One of my bil's is a pediatrician. I have emailed him a couple times with quick questions on whether he thinks I should take the kids into the doctor. I have always been really apologetic about it (because I do feel bad at times asking). But the last time we were out visiting he pulled me aside and told me that I could ask his advice anytime. Apparently his wife's sister (my other sil) who lives nearby is having him look at one or another of her kids constantly. He said that answering a couple questions over email was totally fine and he knew that I would never take offense if he told me to go get it checked by our doctor.

With DD we told my parents around 6 weeks. I was supposed to do a 10 mile training run that morning with my mom and was feeling horrible. Figured I should tell her in case I couldn't do all 10 miles, cause otherwise she was going to be very confused. We gave my mom a sewing for baby book and my dad a shirt for a little kid that said something about having a rockin' grandpa. We told dh's parents a couple weeks later.
With ds we told parents earlier than we would have otherwise, my parents were temporarily living 5 hours away and dh was having his PhD graduation. There was champagne and I couldn't have any!
This third time around we still told a little bit on the early side. We did get mad at mil. We told them and let them know that we were going to call and tell dh's sisters. Well they went out to visit my sil's a week or so before we had planned on telling them (we were waiting till 12 weeks) and my mil tells them within minutes of walking in the door that they really need to facetime us because we need to tell them something. Which isn't something we really do much with them. Apparently one of my sil's figured it out immediately and point blank asked mil, who failed miserably at even attempting to make her think otherwise.
If we do a 4th I'm really hoping I can get away with waiting longer to tell the inlaws. But who knows!
Oh and to answer about telling my own children. Dd was only 22 months old when ds was born. She would wave and say hi to the baby during ultrasounds, but who knows how much she understood. This time around we told them around when we told the grandparents. Partly because dd was confused by my throwing up and kept asking if I was going to get her sick.

I'm really surprised that your OB can't help you! That is something that they should be trained to look for and help you figure out how to fix. I would also suggest looking up your local baby boot camp or stroller strides chapter. If they are a certified personal trainer they may be able to help you or they can point you to someone who can, since they should be familiar with it and know how/where to get people help for it. Also a physical therapist might be able to help!

Dh does ours. My guess is he will do them when he is home on paternity leave, end of March/early April. We thought we had deductions figured out, but then last year we owed 20,000. We adjusted to highest withholdings but when we got his forms this year he made a significantly higher amount last year than the year before, so we will probably owe a bunch again this year. State we usually get a couple hundred back. California lets you donate straight from turbo tax, so we usually just donate that money back.

July 13, 1996, I was 14. I only know because my bff teased me that my first kiss was on her birthday. Last day of church summer camp. I very much enjoyed it and did lots of kissing the next five years, not much more than kissing. Meet dh at 19 and had great kissing chemistry. Still kissing him 15 years later!

Here is the link too what I purchased. dh messed with it and couldn't figure it out either. I guess I was confused by the box that popped up saying how to adjust text size? Oh well, the ones I was able make fit everyone loved. So not a total waste, but still a little annoying!
