Considering that the dealership will have the gas tank filled for you when you pick up your new car, call it an even trade I have bought a lot of vehicles, and one has had a full tank of gas. Most had fumes only. I had to barter and bitch to get that one filled up too!

Do you have ability to *freeze* holds? I wait until I'm first in line then freeze them until I'm ready to read them. It has been a great help since I started doing that! That is always the case for me! My library has an option to delay the delivery. I can pause the hold. It puts me back on the list, but at the top. I have done that if I know I am not going to get the book done in time. I have to wait for it to come available again, but I don't have to wait too long.

I wasn't able to get a card, so I wonder if they put the brake on it. Understandable.
I usually have all 5 available holds going at my Library's service. Then it seems they all come available at once!

Only whole cows milk at my house. Thankfully we have never had an milk allergies. I was a strong believer in whole milk while my kids were growing up. I will alternate between whole and 2%.
We don't consume nearly as much milk now that it's just my DH and I. I still use some for cooking, and DH has some in his coffee. I prefer the whole milk for soups and puddings, but those are not every day foods anymore.

My MIL talks in a baby voice. Not baby talk per se, just a baby voice. Not super extreme, but once you realize it, you cant stop hearing it Do you think she even realizes it? I, for sure as a daughter-in-law, would not point it out. LOL When my kids were younger, high school age, I would point some things out as nicely as possible, in the right situations. They all used "like" in their speech heavily. I even find myself doing it too! But I gently pointed it out and had them count and even to count me over-using it. I am even bad about saying "like, you know" frequently in speaking. Some habits are hard to break!

Baby talk to your fur babies is 100% okay.. or to babies. Fur babies yes! Real babies NO! I say this with some humor, so don't anyone come at me. But baby talk to babies drives me batty. I wanted my kids to hear the words correctly and not in baby talk. I did use works like "tinkle" - so maybe that is baby talk? But I wanted them to start speaking somewhat correctly. LOL I also dialed back the profanity when my kids were growing up. It's back now, but I really didn't want that to be a part of their everyday speech. That doesn't seem to happen so much anymore. Whew...the mouth on some of these kids!

A pen with a light in the tip of it. Best.pen.ever. Especially if you're over a certain age and have problems seeing to sign the check in a dark restaurant. Definitely my favorite, most useful swag. These are awesome! We got those in harvest bags a couple years ago. car dealers, insurance agency, radio stations bring out snack bags to the fields during harvest. I have one truck that the air tag axle gauge doesn't light up in the cab. I use that pen to see if my air is good before I leave the field! LOL If it's beeping I know I'm low on air, but sometimes I just want to see if I am dropping air before I pull out and have a catastrophe! I've pretty much quit hauling that truck in the dark now though. I tell them they can fill it, but I am not hauling it to town. I'll come out early in the morning and haul that one in. They don't argue with me! LOL

Most of the 'swag' we get comes from Farm Shows and seed dealers.
My husband passes most of it by, as we don't need anything else for our junk drawer! LOL He does get USB drives (we use those SO much for data transfers with our GPS units), good pens, insulated lunch bags, mini coolers, and insulated grocery bags. One of my favorite things was a computer mouse that had a floating tractor in it! LOL Insulated/stainless steel cups are nice, but lord, my cabinet is FULL. I am usually pedaling these off to anyone that stops at my house.. ."Need a cup?" Take as many as you want...
Seed Dealer swag is usually sweatshirts and coats. Pioneer always used to have nice little paring knives and my most favorite insulated coffee pitcher is from Pioneer. It rides with me all harvest as my mobile coffee shop.

I think social media has caused people to totally lose their minds. I agree. I understand the want and need to "out" someone for their behavior, but the way people, en masse, go after someone is scary. I have seen it go horribly wrong on TikTok in the past when the person who did the wrong was mistaken for someone else with the same name. It's pretty hard to take that back after the cats out of the bag.

I missed the original post. My daughter bought a house that had 2 very large dogs. Mostly wood floors, but carpeted upstairs. The condition of the house and the yard factored into what they offered on the house. They knew they were in for some serious cleaning, and had all the floors refinished and pulled all the carpet and replaced it. One of the biggest moments was when they checked the furnace filter a day or so after moving in. It was inches of dog hair and it looked like it had never been changed. The HVAC system was just over a year old, and it was possible they had never changed the filter. Yard was a god awful mess. The walls in the house had a stripe about dog high of dinge. It was something, but the seller lost money on the house by not taking care of their dogs. There was a lot of other housekeeping issues, but it was all good in the end.

If you are not a catholic in good standing, meaning you do not go to mass regularly and in a state of grace, you may also place your arms over your chest for a blessing. Former Catholic, and the "state of grace" thing can really be up to interpretation, according to what I see in my still practicing friends. Divorce, birth control, IVF, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, etc. can remove you from "a state of grace" ... but some priests/churches look the other way. Some come down hard on it. And for many, it depends on who you are.

All I hear now is Mom's having epidurals for birth. I never had one with any of my kids. I know I had a local numbing injection for the first one (episiotomy area). I remember my husband looking at that needle with a side eye (and he can handle anything). I have no memory of anything for pain on the second, and the third one barely made it to the hospital, so I didn't even have any labs done. LOL But young Mom's that i talk to are dumbfounded. I said I don't even have a memory of one even being offered. I also had 1 ultrasound ... for all three pregnancies. Only 1 done on the last one to find out sex. This was all early 90's. Which is eons ago!

I can, I can... (The Mayflower that is) Only found out a few years ago. My cousin did it, the research. Do you watch Finding Your Roots on PBS? Angela Davis was recently featured. Her ancestry was traced back to the Mayflower. The look on her face was ... well.. interesting. She was quite obviously upset about this. Angela Davis - Finding Your Roots

This is what we just got and I haven’t noticed any problems at all with clothes not getting clean and my DH and kid spill stuff on EVERYTHING. My laundry would probably make your shudder.. LOL My husband actually fell in a manure pit one day. Yep. That is par for the course. He spends the winter working on our equipment, so heavy greasy dirty.. ugh! I am sure the technology has improved since I bought my LG HE. I still have it and do use it occasionally. But when I use it on farm/ranch clothes - I can still see actual dirt on them, in creases and folds. I don't have the 'add extra water' option. So I have to let it fill. Shut it off to clear it, then restart it with water in, so it refills with more water. It's ridiculous! So having the 'add more water' option would certainly make it a better machine!! Mine won't actually fill with straight hot water either. Even if I have it set to HOT, it still adds cold water in. I have sat there while it filled and shut the cold tap off, so it wouldn't mix it in. I am sure that isn't the way with all the models - but dang - that is frustrating!

If we end up replacing it, do you have one you love? Old school Speed Queen. I've had mine for a few years, so they don't have that exact model anymore, but they have similar. I also have a LG top loader/no agitator. Stay away from these, no matter the brand. It is an HE (which, I think all machines are now) and it does not get clothes clean. It takes over an hour to do a load, unless I do quick wash - which is even worse at getting anything clean. It is often hung up in a cycle because the load isn't right (even though I do know how to load that type of machine). My husband bought me the Speed Queen and it is AMAZING! It does a load in about 30 minutes. I don't have to load it in any special manner. It doesn't get hung up because the load shifted. It can use HOT water, and LOTS of it! LOL I know this isn't efficient, as far as energy use - but I have dirty greasy bloody ranch wear to wash often. I need to be able to get that stuff clean. I recommend the Speed Queen TR5!

As long as Covid has the potential to cause death or long Covid, we cannot treat it like a cold. My meaning wasn't that we treat it like a cold. Probably more like the flu, which can be mild, awful, or deadly. I hope it spurs on more and better treatments for flu and Covid.

You sort of can...they aren't free but if you have the Kindle version you can buy the audiobook for only a couple of dollars...not the full price or a credit. I saw that yesterday when I went poking around! Yea! I have really gotten into Audiobooks in the last year. Makes my day pass so much better. I loved them during harvest when I was trucking grain. I also utilize my fantastic Library audiobook service, but they don't always have what I want at the moment. I learn so many great things here at the Pea's!

Use canned frosting to make the cake pop itself. Use something you like and tastes good to you...I like Pillsbury Cream Cheese flavor (not any other brand for me though). I use a small portion scoop to make uniform size balls. Roll them around a bit to keep round. I dip my stick into some of the melted chocolate before sticking it in the cookie ball. I refrigerate the balls before dipping. I gently melt the 'chocolate' wafers in the microwave in a thick glass, like a pyrex measuring glass. It seems to hold the heat better. Don't over heat!!!! That is important. Start with 30 seconds and stir. If they are almost all melted, stop. Let the residual heat keep melting them. If you over heat - it can sieze, and then you are done. Don't let any water get it in either. If you have a coffee cup warmer, you can place your melted cup of chocolate on that to keep it warmer! Or put them on a warm electric griddle or mini skillet, if you have a smaller one. Have a sheet of parchment paper to set the cake pops on. I like mine with the stick up. If you want stick down, you'll need something that can hold the sticks. Some people can make them look SO cute. Mine are 'homemade' ... lol! The best tasting melts are the Ghirardelli! Easy to find also. I love the white chocolate ones. They have milk and dark too. You can color the white with OIL based food color, but do not use the water based drops!

Ugh Jury duty. I haven't had to serve in a long time (knocking wood here now)... but I have had several jury duty notices. Haven't been called in, in at least 25 years or so. You couldn’t possibly have Covid. My DD says there is no such anymore, it’s gone now it’s just a plain cold I do think Covid is going to be the norm, somewhat like the 'plain cold'. I had it in early December. I didn't go to the doctor, as mine stayed pretty mild. I was tired for a while after it though. I know it can be much worse (or much lighter) - but I think it is here to stay. I was responsible and stayed home and away from people while I had it. I feel like that SHOULD be the norm for any illness! I just don't get people that have to be tough and go to work, or worse socialize, when they are sick.

ALSO I am PRETTY SURE the pizza hut personal pan pizza/reading program was predominatnely a 1980s thing. It started in 1984. It is still ongoing in some form. I think I read about Camp Bookit as a summer type program. My kids had BookIt pizza's in the late 90's into the 2000's - at least to 2003 or so for us, maybe later. That was when Pizza Hut was actually pretty decent pizza and we enjoyed going. But that free personal pan pizza usually cost us a lot. LOL We went as a family, so one or two of the kids got their free pizza while we paid for a couple big pizza's for the rest of us. Our pizza hut would give the kids a big paper star for them to write their name on, then they would hang it from the ceiling on the restaurant. So many stars hanging from that pizza hut ceiling! Pizza Hut pizza is yuck now.

After it came out that the mysterious 'older woman' who took his virginity was just a girl who worked in the stables with him was only a couple of years older I was just done giving this guy any benefit of the doubt. I mean, he let the speculation go on and on about who this woman could have been like Victoria Beckham etc. He's such a douche. That's what made me change from "leave them alone and give them the benefit of doubt" to "what a douche" ... lol

I was at book club last night and a discussion started about which version people have. I was surprised at how many people still used Windows 7. I loved Windows 7! I hated to have to give it up as my daily computer. I have: A desktop with 11 A laptop with 11 A Surface Pro with 10 A desktop with 7 - it's failing, but I hooked it up in the basement to use occasionally. A laptop with 7 A laptop with XP. DH has most of the laptops, and I am trying to condense everything down to the new one with 11. He runs some older software like Works that he loves. I found a way to get them installed onto the 11 laptop. I just need to get all the files moved over. He keeps using the old XP so I need to out to the shop and back up those files again. I did get all his GPS software on the new one, right before harvest, which is why we had to get it.

Do your senior citizen parents text you? Are they using technology? My 82 YO monther-in-law has always embraced tech. I see her showing very young people how to AirDrop photos. She wirelessly prints, can search for ANYTHING online, lol. Get's her eBooks from the Library... she is GOOD! I would start simple with your Mom and let her get comfortable. I see people get overloaded at first, because there is just so much you can do!

You will be in my thoughts. If you can, have a friend with you. Is there any chance he will bring the other woman with him? Because if there even an outside chance of that, you need someone on your side too. Strength in numbers. Hugs If he does, he can't enter the house as I have that order from when she threatened to kill me. I wasn't going to have anybody because I didn't want him to think it bothered me. I do have cameras placed around the house and can record on my phone. My dad has offered, but I'm not sure HE could keep his mouth shut. I don't know who xh is bringing. I assume at least the one friend I know and his dad, but other than that... I would absolutely have someone there. After reading about the death threat, I would have Law Enforcement there. That is what they are here for! It is NOT a sign of your weakness or that you 'care' ... it is a sign that you are NOT going to take any BS from him or anyone with him. Tell him when he can come. Not "today" at any time. I would give him the specific time and amount of time when you have someone there. I would let him know when you will have LEO there and that is when he can be there. Period. I hope to goes well for you and you can close that chapter! ♥

My DH did this about a year ago (March). Pretty major break with surgery, 2 plates, a rod and screws. 2 surgeries; one to fix, the other to remove rod and screws. One plate stays in forever or until it bothers him. He finished working a pen of cattle after he broke it. Called me, so I could call in to the hospital to get him in. Saw the doc, and not an ER visit that way. Had consult with surgeon a day later, then different surgeon a couple days after that, with surgery following the next day. So that part wasn't great. But we did end up with the best surgeon. DH did work all through this part, but a little lighter duty. Took the surgery day off, and stayed home the next day. Took a couple pain meds the first day, and one the second. But was back at it after that. His goal was to be able to be planting in April. He did. Had second surgery to remove most of the hardware and did DIY physical therapy (farmers!). Second surgery was very smooth. Didn't take any pain meds at all. His goal was to be back 100% by harvest, and he was. Last surgery was in July, and surgeon fully released him in September. He still is doing his "physical therapy" to keep the range of motion going in his wrist.
