I was started out on an accordion, then a piano, then an organ, and than a guitar. The accordion, organ and guitar are still in my house.

Lawrence Welk!!!! Does anyone even know who that was? Of course, I know who Lawrence Welk was!! My uncle played the accordion for house parties and wedding dances (and he had groupies, lol). At my parents' wedding dance, my uncle played a waltz that is played in the Gundbrandsdalen region (where both my grandfathers emigrated from) in honor of my mother.

Early in my university career, I met a student named Chrry. Why would a mother sentence a child to a lifetime of being asked "Is your name misspelled?"

You all may throw me off this board, but I have never eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My mother often made cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. Or cream cheese and olive sandwiches. Neither buttered… I didn't have a PBJ until two years ago. I wasn't missing anything.

I am a tablescape junkie. I have multiple sets of dishes, glassware, flatware, etc to set my tables with. So I also have lots of linens, napkin rings, chargers, centerpiece items, and so forth. It’s kinda my jam. My maternal grandmother, my mom, and I loved dishes and accompany things, so I love this.

I am the third Hilton Township (North Dakota) woman to own my table. Underneath it has a stamp that says “1917,” and my dad refurnished the table for me. Generally, I use placemats to protect it, but tablecloths are used for special occasions or holidays (my mom loved sewing so I have many). Generally, no centerpieces because my mom’s youngest sister hates them and removes them to the floor, lol. No rug underneath.

I have a Ring doorbell and love it. But cold winter weather drained the battery quickly, so I had it hard wired.

I hate when they’re placed on the side of a plate and all the pickle juice ruins the rest of the food. Hamburger buns just sop up that juice. 🤢 That's why one of my friends always asks that the pickles be placed on a smaller, separate plate.

Congratulations on the new baby. One classmate called her German grandmother "Oma" and her Norwegian grandmother "Bestemor." I loved that it meant "best of mother."

When I was pregnant with my oldest DD (she is 17 now), I was living on the other side of the planet from my family. I had a strong connection to my grandmother, and was naming my baby after her. My sister filmed out grandmother, sort of like an interview, asking a lot of questions about how she felt about the baby coming, how she felt about the baby having her name and other things. My sister sends me the video in the mail, and while it's in transit my grandmother passes away. And the tape never made it to me. The package containing babyclothes and my grandmothers thoughts on my baby has been lost since. I gave birth five days after she passed. There is nothing I wouldn't give to watch that tape! Even once! This was in 2005, and filmed with a camcorder on a tape, so no copies. She came to me in a dream a few years later, and we've talked, so that gives me some peace 😊 I love watching film from my uncle's 1960 wedding. The "film" has been converted into a few formats, and a little is lost each time. My grandfather died in 1963 at the age of 60 (I was three, so I have some memories.), and it helps his children to see him laughing, dancing and playing the accordion. He worked so hard supporting his large family through the Great Depression and building his farm, that they feel "guilty." There is also a short glimpse of my 31-year-old father.

Things: The pearl necklace my father gave my mother for their wedding day. It disappeared from my house.

I had a close friend, who died of cancer at age 23. Her favorite song was their "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and it was played at her funeral.

Have fun in your search. I am a third-generation dish lover. Out of the newer Correlle patterns, I have and love "Splendor." I still love the Correlle "Morning Blue" that my mother started me out with in the '80s. For "good dishes," she set me up with "Old Country Roses." Growing up, our everyday dishes were Homer Laughlin "Harlequin" dishes, so I loved collecting certain Fiesta ware colors.
