Never stop grifting! I can't believe we've got people tied up in knots over Biden kissing babies when this stuff is going on. The Republican Party’s new motto - We are the party of smoke and mirrors!

It is illegal to park in the Smoky Mountain National Park for more than 15 minutes without a parking tag. Since there was no one available to sell those tags, people who moved those cones and parked did it illegally. I have a lifetime access card to National Parks that does not require renewal. Also, day passes can be purchased in advance in some parks, as well as annual pass holders. The Smoky Mountain Park parking passes are separate from National Park access passes.

I remember on one of the prior shutdowns, the govt specifically had employees put cones out to block the pull-offs so that people could not pull off to the side of the road on the free national parks--like the Smokies. Instead of "doing nothing" they inconvenienced people more. So people just moved the cones so that they could park at the pull offs. That really PO'ed me that they would specifically do that. It is illegal to park in the Smoky Mountain National Park for more than 15 minutes without a parking tag. Since there was no one available to sell those tags, people who moved those cones and parked did it illegally.

Will the parks shut down immediately? Ugh. Unless they have surplus funds from previous years (not likely) to pay operating costs, yes.

National parks will be closed. This. National Parks will be closed. That will impact your trip more than airport issues, I fear.

We. are. doomed.
Because we have seen here that people will vote Republicans in no matter how much they demonstrate that those Republican politicians hate military so much that they will prevent active duty military from their hard-earned promotions and now deny them their paychecks while collecting their own $$$ as members of Congress.
The lunatics are literally running the asylum. The modern-day Republican Party hates the military and their families.

Trump admitted PUBLICLY to wanting to date Ivanka and remarked that she has a “nice rack” and wondered what it would be like to have sex with her, but crickets about how disgustingly creepy and incestuous that was. Multiple times. If you have nothing to say publicly about Trump’s incestual fantasies, you have no weight on this thread.Per your own standard, if you have nothing to say publicly about the on this thread claim that the Biden video is fake, and the on this thread outright fabrication of something said, YOU have no weight to set any off topic standards on this thread. *yawn*

Do you carry your purse and tote bag, etc., on your right shoulder? Are you lugging things to kids’ sporting events now that school is in session?

How they figure out inflation rate isn’t equal across the board.
For instance, staples that most households buy are weighted more heavily than items a limited number of consumers purchase. So, for example, eggs have actually dropped in price over the past year, along with milk. Both of these items are weighted much more heavily than Quinoa or dog food.
Gas goes up and down, but overall isn’t rising steadily at 5% per year. Gas has a strong impact on the overall inflation rate calculations, since many people buy gas - exponentially more than items such as brown rice or wheat gluten.
Yes, prices of many things have risen, but it isn’t across the board and therefore doesn’t impact what some people are experiencing.

No.
If Biden chose not to run, Harris would not automatically get the nomination; and, I would guess, in that instance, wouldn’t. I don’t think that the Democratic Party would choose her for the Presidential candidate.

Sore throat, and some fatigue. The sore throat lasted 2 days. Then some congestion, nothing crazy, for a few days. The a slight cough that slowly got worse and then better. Fatigue the whole time. I think day 6 or 7 was the first time I stayed up past 8:30pm. thanks for taking the time to share the deets elaine - that sounds terrible. Why do you have to go in when feeling awful? Because my students are falling behind. When one doesn’t know who/if one will get to substitute teach, new material doesn’t get taught. In elementary school, there just isn’t enough flex built into the curriculum pacing guide to take a week off. I missed 3 days that first week because it butted up to a weekend, covering my 5 days per CDC guidelines, and my class is behind the other 6th grade classes in Math and Social Studies.

I came down with it exactly 2 weeks ago for the first time even though this is my 3rd year teaching in an elementary school. It has been awful. I ended up in the ER on an IV for dehydration. Then after I finished Paxlovid (after which I never tested negative), I had a virus-load rebound and have been testing strongly positive since. I lost my sense of taste and smell on Friday (1.5 weeks after initial diagnosis) and that is ongoing. I am so tired all the time - it is hard to make it through a school day. I am back at work and masked, because those are CDC guidelines that we are expected to follow. (I don’t mind being masked at all, I hate that I need to be back at work even though I feel crummy).

Given the choice, I would pick a women’s cut t-shirt. But, if I have to wear a men’s t-shirt, I get a Large so that it is long enough to wear with leggings and have it cover my butt.

I have been teaching elementary for over 15 years. I have had my fair share of children with IEPs. All of the children I have had with IEPs came to my classroom with them. I have a student now I think needs an IEP. I am surprised he didn't come with one. I know I am not qualified to make a diagnosis. But I believe this child has autism. The problem is that his parents are both teachers and I am kind of in disbelief they don't see it. The child has a very flat affect. Does not engage with other children. Ever. Fixates on certain things. Does not respond to their name. Has no ability to focus on work longer than 30 seconds. Cannot participate in group time. Always removes themselves to book area. There is just a general similarity to other children with autism I have had. A lot of things I just can't put my finger on. Obviously they would be considered high functioning if they do have autism. The problem I have is I want to approach parents about having the child evaluated. I have never had to do this before. I can handle behavioral conversations. This is different. I can't even have someone from our SPED team come in to observe without talking to parents first so I am not sure how to approach them. The child's former teacher is no longer at the school so I can't speak to them to see if they approached parents or not. Parents have older child I also had. That child is reserved and quiet. It is different with the one I have in class now though. I think if any teacher peas could be in my class for a short time you would have the same gut feeling I do.i just don't know what to do. Wow! What a difficult position. In our school, any teacher can come in any classroom to work without parental permission. There would be absolutely no impediment to having a SPED teacher and/or school counselor and/or school psychologist come into my classroom and observe the whole class, while paying specific attention to one or more children. I had this happen a few times last year when I had challenging students that I brought to our Local Screening Committee (and one was the child of a teacher). I have a SPED teacher that pushes into my math class, she helps ANY child who needs it, while paying closest attention to the kids with IEPs, but she works with all my students - again, no parental permission needed. If I were to refer a child to our LSC, her observations of that child will also be used - I say this because I will be referring one who currently does not have an IEP. Teachers also can refer the child to Local Screening without parental permission. The meeting will take place - parents invited, of course - and formal assessment cannot happen without parental permission - and the committee decides whether to further evaluate only with parental permission. The observational data gathered by other staff (SPED teacher/counselor/paychologist) is often very important in this process. But, it is awful that you need parental permission to get another set of eyes on the child before talking to the parents about your concerns and referring the child for discussion and/or assessment. If I were you, I would start with discussing with the parents that you have concerns about there child - share your concerns - and ask permission for someone else to simply observe your class. Once you have observational data, if the specialist has the same concerns, have a small group discussion. Hopefully, when it is more than just you with concerns, the parents will be open to local screening and assessment (if your staff determine that assessment is necessary). I guess my other question would be how are the child’s grades? If the child has a C or better average across subjects, my school would not recommend school conducted assessment - it is costly, and only happens for children whose issues are preventing them from accessing the curriculum.

I have to say that the comments regarding Brittany Mahomes also seem pretty disparaging and sexist/misogynistic. They started dating in high school and are still together a decade later. I’m not sure why she is the butt of the jokes, other than she is a woman. You would think there should be many more comments about Patrick being upset about being upstaged by Travis and/or envious of Travis landing Taylor in his Box Suite, than Brittany being envious of a woman spending time with the mother of some other player on her husband’s team. Except, well, they are both men, and it is much more the societal norm to paint things as a cat fight to the detriment of the women involved. I don't understand the hate.. but I guess she has said and done some things that pissed off the fans. I don't get it... But Travis and Patrick are great friends.. he wouldn't be upset.. But pitting the two women against each other is just typical sexist behavior... and not ok in my book. I honestly don’t think that anyone in that situation was remotely upset, including Brittany Mahomes - although, if I were her, I’d be upset by all the shit coming my way for absolutely nothing that I did or said. My point had nothing to do with whom Mahomes is friends with, but that if we were going to go by who might be more realistically envious, it would be a guy who might be envious of the guy who is (maybe) dating Taylor Swift, not the woman married to one of the top athletes in the country who by some mental gymnastics is jealous that the mother of another player on the team spent time with another woman. Who honestly thinks that any of the wives of the Chiefs team members care who the mothers of any players (other than their husbands) spends time with? Why would they? (Not saying that you do!)

well it won't be the first time and she's certainly used her former relationships are inspiration for very popular songs. why would this be any different? i think it's the running joke when it comes to her relationships. It is a "running" joke but is disparaging to her. She like many song writers writes about her life. Perhaps because she started so young.. people often dismiss her and do not give her the respect she deserves. So comments like this just seem to be an unkind unnecessary put down. She really is a remarkable artist and advocate for herself. Love her music or not, she has accomplished a lot! I have 30% all purchases online available when I login to Old Navy site. Along the bottom there is a row of today’s deals and 30% applied automatically to my cart at checkout is one of them. I don’t have the credit card and this discount is separate from that. Interesting. I wonder why you have that offer and I do not. Maybe because I shop there and at Athleta too often. 😝 Old Navy is my go-to for cheap work dresses and Athleta is for leggings.

I have a few things (fleece leggings) I'd like to purchase at Old Navy. I haven't shopped there in probably 15 years, so am unfamiliar with their sales. Right now the only discount I can find is 30% off if I sign up for their CC. I don't want their CC, so tough luck for me. I'm wondering could someone who is familiar with Old Navy tell me about their sales? Should I go ahead and pay full price, or are they one of the places that has a sale every other week? Also, any other Old Navy "must haves" for staying warm while lounging at home...if so, I'm all ears. I live in a very drafty 116YO building and my place is nippy in the fall/winter/spring. Thanks for any insight you can share! I have 30% all purchases online available when I login to Old Navy site. Sorry if this wasn't clear from my post. I've got the combo smoke and CO detectors so that was what I was looking for. I'm still no seeing any combo smoke/CO ones with the 10 year battery (only hardwire linked options).
Maybe I don't need them all to be CO.
Or you can get separate CO detectors. Ours are separate from our smoke detectors.

“Do I think there should be a maximum as well as minimum age to be president” (picotjo didn’t correctly use the quote feature - ktdoesntscrap said this) There is a minimum age. It's 35. (<= Picotjo said this) Given her regular participation in political threads, I think that she knows that. Maybe her statement would have better worded “a maximum age *to go along with the already established minimum age* to be President.” We are talking about whether Biden and Trump are TOO OLD to be President, rather than too young. Cawthorn, however, is a prime example of the detriment of electing politicians who are too young to show good judgment. What do you think? Who do you think should run for President? Who do you want to vote for and why? I haven’t seen you on political threads before, although I have been busy since school started, so may have missed your posts. I’d like to know more about your views.
