I've been working on some vacation photos using Amy Tangerine's Oh Happy Life collection that I had purchased specifically for this set of photos. I've ended up buying more wherever I can find it because I've also used it for spring break and a couple other sets of photos. I ended up thinking to myself that it's in my top 5 all time favorite collections. Which made me wonder what my others are, and here's the list I came up with, in no particular order: Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life - I love the bright white and clear images without being juvenile or over the top themey. I LOVE that there are so many multi colored papers in the collection! Shimelle Starshine - again, the bright clean white, and the selection of multicolored papers. The embellishments are definitely harder for me to use since they are very space themed and the phrases she uses are hard for me to find a use for, but OH those colors, the coral, and navy, and the floral is gorgeous. Glitz Design Uncharted Waters - a bit grungy but not over the top, again with my precious navy, and coral, yellow and touch of aqua..not over the top nautical themed but just enough. It was so easy for me to mix and match with a couple other collections out at that time and made my Cruise album probably my favorite album I've made so far. My Mind's Eye Collectible (?)- it's an older collection, and not themed at all if I recall, but just a great set of blues and yellow and neutrals together that I mixed with several other collections. It had a blue/yellow collection and a pink/orange collection. Basic Grey Spice Market - Oh how I miss Basic Grey....This one....it had navy and coral and aqua ( holy crap I just noticed the trend in my favorites!!! Amy Tan is the only one without Navy blue!) and I love the Moroccan designs, they could be used with any subject and not be out of place. I have SO MUCH of this.....I bought a ton of it to use for a Cozumel vacation before we even left for the trip! I just instantly fell in love with it and wanted to do my entire album with this line. I've stolen bits and pieces for other projects but haven't broken out the entire project yet. Bonus collection - Crate Paper Craft Market - tons of useable stickers and embellishments that weren't themed, cleaner than other collections they had out at the time. My first jump into glittery accents, LOL! So what are your top all time collections, why did you love them, and what did you use them on?

FYI, The Silhouette Store has all fonts on sale for 30% off. I haven't looked at their fonts in quite a while....there are so many new options, as far as pricing.....I understand the dingbat fonts being more pricey, but what's up with some of them being almost $10?! is it a commmercial vs. private use thing, or are some fonts just really that much more expensive than others? What in the world do you get with a $10 font that you don't get with a $2 font? I know the answer has got to be obvious and I'm missing it, so apologies for my short sightedness! Cindy in Texas

It's time.....we are having to revamp the way I store my photos on my computer and I don't know where to go! Do y'all store all your pics in Photoshop, or do you just import the ones you want to edit? I hope there are many more options than PS, because we do NOT get along. It isn't intuitive for me, and it's brought me near tears out of frustration more than a few times! Is Lightrooom that much different?
I've been using Picasa for years and between it not being supported anymore, and my storage/duplicates mess I've made, since I have to revamp it all I might as well start with something new. I just want a simple place to store and sort, a little touch up editing. Geez, if I could store ALL my pictures on my iphone that would be the ideal set up for me! Sort into albums, minor editing capabilities....sigh.
So help me out, where do you store the majority of your photos?

LOVE the idea of a swipe of paint on the paper where I plan to place the stickers! I can't wait to try that idea!!

Since purchasing some of the AC big sticker books, and a few of Amy Tangerine's books, I've accumulated quite a lot of the stickers printed on clear plastic. I LOVE them......when I put them over white cardstock. But that's really limiting me to many I can actually use. How do yall use your clear stickers? I'm thinking of just sticking them on white cardstock and cutting them out, THEN attaching to my pages. But I don't see myself doing that for all of them! Kinda bummed because they are so cute but just don't show up how I like on anything other than plain white.

This is going to be a long shot, considering my weak memory and description, but I'm thinking of a scrapbooking website that had page formulas, and scrapbooking articles. Not necesarily classes, that I can recall. The only "formula" type thing I remember is for the "shelf" style scrapbook page. I don't think it was a site you had to pay a membeship or class fee to view the articles. I'm wracking my brain for more details but this is all I can recall right now! I've gotten myself into a bit of a rut and for some reason this site popped into my mind. It gives you different design patterns if you will, and I thought it would jog my brain more than just going by sketches, which because of my rut, I keep ending up with variations of the same couple of basic designs. I'd love to hear any of your suggestions for what this website could be! Cindy in Texas

oh my gosh what an awesome idea to bring something for them to throw in the crockpot later! I'm definitely going to do that!
I thought about lasagna, I'm not sold on it mainly because of the mess involved for me, isn't that terrible!?

I am taking dinner to my niece this evening, and probably another day or two within the next week. Her husband just had surgery. I haven't done this in a long time, and can't think of anything to bring! I know that sounds ridiculous, but what are your go-to meals to help someone out? No allergies, nothing weird I have to steer clear of or consider. Easy transport, easy re-heat, tastes decent as leftovers. I guess something on the mild side, considering her husband's surgery situation.
Give me some suggestions, ladies, please!

well hmmm....very insightful, thank you for sharing your experiences! We do have a dog, and he's usually either in our son's room or the foot of the bed, unless there's a storm. Then he's on our head. Literally. I have pictures. LOL!! I thought yall would completely talk me out of it...but you failed. What I'm pretty sure I've decided to do is go for it, but not with an expensive one. If/when it gets dirtier than I can clean, (main concern is body grime, hair oils, etc) I'll try my hand at re-covering it. I'm pretty handy and love to do that kind of thing anyway. If it works, yay, if not, we got to have an upholstered headboard for a few years, and I'll replace it then. I'll just make sure to balance cost/value, to make sure I feel like we got our money's worth for the time we use it, and not get upset when it's time to replace. Thanks so much for all your input, it was really valuable to me!

Looking at getting a bed...we've always had a mattress, but when we went from Queen sized to King several years ago, we didn't purchase a headboard/foot board for it, waiting to find something we loved. The mattress and box springs have just been sitting on a basic metal frame. Welllllll.....a lot of years and another kid later, I'm back to looking for something to boost our bedroom from looking like a newlywed's first apartment into a master bedroom, lol! Several of the upholstered headboards have caught my eye, but I have to wonder, do they get dirty, and how do you clean them?? I would imagine they'd have some kind of slipcover you could take off to wash and replace, but I haven't come across anything like that. They are gorgeous new, but after a few years, don't they start to just look grimy? My niece and her husband actually built and made their headboard, and she upholstered it with that leather looking material. She even tufted it, it looks awesome! I'm wondering if I should go that route and not the linen look of most of the manufactured ones. But I love the look of the linen ones. Ugh. THIS is why, after 15 years, we STILL don't have a grown up bed! I've had a blast and been so bold in decorating my kid's rooms through the years, but doing ours for some reason has always paralyzed me... I just can't commit to buying something significant for our own room. Can't wait to hear what ya'll have, what you like about it and what you don't! Cindy

LOL! I love the "Whale Watching? I don't think so." but I don't have enough room for that...maybe I could shorten it to "I don't think so" and include the specifics of it being a whale watching cruise in the journaling.....
I like "camera shy" also....
still wanting to play with using "whale" in a pun, though, that's what I keep coming back to, but can't come up with anything! Urgh
Thank you so much for your quick ideas!!! You rock!

Working on a page for the whale watching cruise we took in Hawaii.... since so many of the pages in this album are pretty self explanatory, I'd love to come up with a fun title for this one! We spent 4 hours on this cruise and didn't see a single whale, dolphin, or fish! Had a wonderful time anyway. All I can come up with is, "Whale, Crap!" but if you miss the comma, it'll come across as whale crap, which is a different kind of funny, lol!!! Anyone have ideas for a silly title for this page? I'd appreciate it! Cindy

Oops, I forgot that part, they are the clear cling stamps. And that's good to know about taking them off the acetate....I keep my collection in the clear DVD cases, so it won't be a big ordeal to just pull them off the acetate and put them back in their case. Thanks for the tips!

I love the designs on my cling stamps but don't use them as often as I'd like. Last weekend I pulled out a set and it was difficult to get it off the clear backing(acetate? Thin plastic?) And the stamp itself was gummy....It took a little bit but I finally got some useable pieces.
Are they deteriorating? Are they salvageable? Is there something I should be doing to prevent this with my other stamp sets? Ugghhh!

Well, I did it, I updated my stupid software to whatever version was available back in September. Things were going "OK" til I started noticing weird random things....a file would show up more than once in the folder I'd organized it into....the number of files I had in a folder didn't coordinate with the actual number of files in the folder....and more recently, most of my files aren't even showing up in the folders.
If I do a search for them, they will show up, ( if I remember the name of the file!) and when I do a generic type search, say for "banners".....I guess all the files I've purchased will show up, but some of them how up more than once...sometimes right next to each other, within the search...but still don't show up in the folder!
My summer/beach folder, I KNOW has about 3 times as many files as are showing up in that folder. If I choose the "show all files" at the top of my library, again, lots of files show up multiple times. And, I have a lot of files. A LOT. I've owned my silhouette for about 6 years and have used the fire out of it! So, it's unreasonable for me to have to go through all, um, lots of them, with several duplicated, to find the one file I'm looking for every time.
I looked over the FAQ on the website and followed the directions for resetting the library and that didn't help from what I can tell.
I've emailed customer service, but of COURSE I did it on a Friday, and have to give them 1-2 BUSINESS days for a response.
Any suggestions, ladies? I'm off to search youtube now.....

all done...I'm happy with it! I used gold glittery thickers to spell "'Ono" in the main part of the layout, and used an asterisk stamp next to it. At the bottom of the page, I did a little embellishment cluster and with another asterisk stamped near it with little tile stickers spelling out "delicious!"
I've done this album in all sorts of out of order, but this page is near the front, so I may use this way of translating any Hawaiian words I use in the title for several other pages throughout the book. Thanks for actually solving a bigger problem than the single page title!

I think I have it....simple is best, yeah? I came across the word 'Ono which means delicious, or tasty. I think since the pictures are from three separate days, I'm gonna go with this. Then explain much more in the journaling. Thanks everyone for the push and ideas! I now have a list of Hawaiian words I want to incorporate into my album! Most of my pages in the album right now are mostly done, except for.....can you guess?? S!!!!

Gah! I don't know why I didn't think to use hawaiian words...I've already done that a couple times in this book. I'm having to choose wisely, though...some of these hawaiian words will suck up my entire Thickers collection! I'll let yall know what I come up with....as soon as that happens

Aloha! Working on my Hawaii album today, and have a set of 3 pictures taken inside my Dad's condo in and around the kitchen. One has my step mom and my 2 yo son making salad, one has my 9yo daughter eating a banana at the counter, and a smaller photo of 2yo sneaking a taste of cake icing. Can't come up with a cute title for anything! This is and always has been one of my biggest scrapbook weaknesses. I can journal like nobody's business, but titles, man, always stump me! Any ideas from the creative peas? Cindy in Texas

Like most any collection, there are some papers I would use, and might purchase. It's pretty rare that a collection comes out that I *must* have every bit. But I totally agree with Sarahbee in the fact that the vintage vibe and modern phrases and fonts don't click for me.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! There's a floor and decor not too far from me and i had planned on going this weekend. I'm glad I have some specific things to look for, instead of just wandering around. I have a good idea of the style and finish I'd like, just not the material or construction. Thanks for giving me a new starting point!

We are finally going to replace the nasty carpet in our living room, dining room ( who DOES that?!) and staircase! My dream is to have the entire first floor ( which would include foyer, kitchen, a small hallway and guest bathroom) all the same flooring throughout. We want a wood look, but nothing I've seen so far, I trust in a kitchen. I wouldn't mind the wood look tile in the kitchen, but don't want that for the whole house, and besides, how would you cover the stairs in tile!?
UGH so many choices and none that I've found are exactly what I want - wood style (probably not solid wood, don't want to mess with sanding and refinishing) sturdy and tough as crap for high wear and tear, a dog, and two boys, tougher than water and food spills in the kitchen, and not tile.
Is there such a beast?

DUDE, I like the fly paper! It's the ANTI-"best-day-ever" paper!!! Think about it....page titles could include, "Well, this just stinks"....."Crappy day"...."Something stinks"...."Ain't no flies on_____" (that's something my dad used to say!) Heck, I want it just for that paper alone!

I had bloodwork done recently and was told I should start taking vitamins, mainly low on vit D. A few years ago I was taking a women's daily pack, it had a few different things in it, one was a fish oil capsule for the omega 3's. I can't find the brand I used to take. Anyone have a multivitamin or pack they'd recommend? Holy crap there are about a gazillion choices out there right now!

Dude..... I am in love with Maggie Holmes.....one of her first collections is what got me back into scrapbooking after a couple of years long dry spell.
But DANG. Horses. Bows. Pink. Ribbons. Swans. and there's a few patterns that I swear have been in every single CP collection since the beginning. The B side of the "Festival" paper....it's in poolside, journey, Oasis, and Gather off the top of my head. In the beginning, I loved that each collection could work together with the others, but Man, it's really getting to be too much for me, and Crate has been one of my all time favorite Brands. I know she has a daughter, but seriously, even if you could design your own private collections, how many horses and award ribbons and bows and swans can you use?
I do appreciate and am happy with the new line, she did break out of her tradition a bit with the carousel and kites, so I do feel like a jerk for calling out all the other repeats. And I understand designers wanting a signature look, and that some icons like cameras are universal and versatile. But the swans and horses always make me wonder!
