I'm a teacher in Australia. We call them coloured pencils, the waxy paper coloured ones are crayons (although you can buy twist up ones also) - definitely only pronounced cray-ons. I have never heard anybody say it with one syllable!
And while I have heard of people using the term felt tip pens, we usually call them textas.
I live in South Australia though - maybe people in other states/territories use different terms. We say grarfs for graphs- In Queensland they say grafs! My daughter spent several terms there when she lived with her father and came home with lots of new pronunciations!

Looks amazing! Your wall looks so similar to our hallway to our family room - we have just finished renovations so have absolutely nothing up on walls at the moment. I was planning on a picture wall but was worried about getting all the designs in proportion. These look really good. Do you live in Adelaide?? I do. Corinne

Our linen cupboard is still being maintained by my daughter who introduced it to me. I still do t-shirt, nighties/pyjamas and my bras and knickers. By moving them forward in the drawer I am actually wearing more items. Before I am sure I was wearing the same things over and over again as they were always put back on top.

Love these! I can't imagine how many hours in the cold/heat these photographers spend to get such amazing shots. Thanks for sharing.
And as a bonus it then went onto Beautiful libraries of the world. I'm a teacher/librarian in a primary school and know how long it takes to re-shelve books for 600 students each week. Not to mention the cataloguing and covering that would need to happen!

I clicked on your link out of curiosity - had no idea who she was. However, her story sounds very interesting so now I am going to go and look her up. My nephew was born premature and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy by age 4. He had his struggles at school with being teased for "running funny". When he was about 11 my mum saw an article in the paper about tryouts for children with disabilities for different sports and encouraged him to enter. He already swam regularly but decided to give running, soccer and athletics a go! He went on to travel interstate for soccer but soon discovered he enjoyed and was successful with running and long jump. Long story short - By 15 he had travelled to Switzerland, England and Dubai to compete in World championships. He even walked the Great Wall of China to help raise funds for children with Cerebral Palsy. His dream was to be chosen for the Australian Paralympic team and walk into the stadium for the Rio 2016 Olympics. We were beyond excited to watch his dream come true as he made the team and did indeed walk into that stadium aged 18 years old. We stayed up late to watch his event - Long jump - his performance gave him his personal best, Paralympic record and a GOLD medal! He was heading to Tokyo before Covid and has not decided whether to continue with sport or focus on his university studies. We are so proud of him and I enjoy reading other stories of people who faced adversity and achieved great things. Thanks for sharing. Corinne

I know I saw a template that was made up of letters for each month - and you coloured in each section for each day- eg 31 days in November. I have just spent a LONG time sorting, culling and re-organising my whole craft room so feel a bit optimistic about actually completing lots of the pre- prepared packs of layouts I have ready and waiting! I have searched here and on Pinterest but obviously do not have the correct key words - does anybody know what I am looking for? Thank you Corinne

If I knew how to embed a video I would show you the koala that ran across our front lawn while we were having dinner the other night. He climbed up a tree, started eating leaves immediately! We had one on our back fence outside my daughter's bedroom growling too. She hates them. I think they are pretty cute. Corinne Just realised this is an Adelaide koala! I live in Adelaide. Probably a stupid American question, but for those who live in Australia, is it common to see koala's in residential areas? I live in the the suburbs , but we are referred to as the "foothills". Gumtrees, creeks everywhere. We had a pair of ducks bring their 5 babies down into our cul-de-sac a few weeks ago. We see koalas all the time- even have street signs with a phone number to ring if you injure or find a injured koala. Adelaide is one of the smaller capital cities ( nothing like Melbourne or Sydney!) and it only takes us 30 minutes to drive into the city.

Mine is from one of our Halloween fancy dress parties. This particular year we decided to have a theme- Favourite song/band. I managed to find some orange material that had little umbrellas and raindrops all over it, so made myself a dress, wore a yellow raincoat ( that I used at school to do crossing duty) and rainboots. Then I laminated lots of men I liked and attached to my umbrella with fishing line. It was a fun night - we played all the songs that our guests represented! Oh and my husband loves the B52s so he was a Rock Lobster!!

Loved it! We have just spent part of our evening going through Randy Rainbow's songs on Youtube. We thought we had seen them all but we hadn't! Of course we watched Kamala again and now I can't get the "you can't stop the tweets" out of my head. ( I had to go look it up because I KNEW the tune- it's from Hairspray!)

What's under-represented? Anything non-American! No football, no rugby, no cricket, no netball, not a lot of summer Christmas kits, school years not named correctly for Australia / UK / NZ, lots of mis-spelled words . I was pleasantly surprised to find a digital kit recently where they offered non-American spelling of Mum, and another school related kit where they offered Prep, Year 1, Year 12 instead of Kinder, 1st Grade, 12th Grade etc. I always make my own lettering for those words that don't match. And even though I am in Australia too we haven't called it Prep for ages- It's Reception for us in South Australia. As for Australian Christmas Paper I find Kaisercraft put out some suitable collections - love the one with emus and kangaroos and all the Australian plants. Although, sadly it seems like they are no longer selling collection packs any more. Corinne

It is pretty much the norm in Australia to have it this way and I've never lived in a house in my 54 years with a toilet in the main bathroom. We built last year and set it up this way. The main bathroom is right next door. As pjaye said we survived just fine. Me too! However our current house has only one toilet- in between the laundry and bathroom so 2 places to wash your hands. We are currently renovating and have put an extra toilet in our bathroom as there was plenty of space so for the first time I will have a toilet in the bathroom as well as the single toilet. Corinne

I do not have as many stamps as many of you do but after starting to stamp each stamp set onto paper I gave up- too time consuming. I ended up taking a photo of each stamp set in the packet or set out on table. Bought a cheap photo album, with slip in pockets- small 1/2 A4 size. I have them in themes so I can flick through the album a lot quickly than looking through my stamp tubs. This helps is I am away from home scrapping - just leave space on the layout and stamp when I return home. Photos cost 10c each so it probably cost me under $10 AUS and very little time to be organised! And I left a few pockets in each section so can add new ones as I buy them. Now.... if only I had time to start using them all! Corinne

Thanks for sharing this- I used to have links to Sketch Savvy but lost them when my computer died. I have about 10 Allison Davis sketches that I use over and over again. Different topics, photos and albums and to be honest not a lot of people even look at my albums and wouldn't notice if they did! If I get time this week I will try and take some photos. Corinne

Okay, I joined the original 2peas in early 2001? but never posted. But boy, do I remember all these stories! Scrapper Jess (?) who homeschooled and also had a foster child she "nicknamed" Latte due to the colour of his skin? And one day she posted asking for recommendations on backpacks that were bulletproof because she was being forced to send the foster children to a "public" school. And the other foster parent - maybe Sass/Sassafrass? who fostered several children with behaviour issues? I always thought someone rang her husband for some reason and he told them she was dead?? I can remember such random bits and pieces - maybe someone will remember the bits I have forgotten. I remember the Hall of Fame dramas - who was the young male scrapper who caused controversy because his photo was of him on his horse and apparently you had to take the photo yourself? Like the women canoeing who allegedly used a camera in a tree to take her photo?? Corinne

Try searching for 2 gallon zipper storage bags. I could find them on US amazon. They're a little bigger than 12x12, mostly they seem to be 13x15, but they'd need to be about that size to fit the paper you want to store. I can find them at the Dollar tree here; I think there are 2 or 3 bags in a box for $1. Oh that makes sense! I was looking for 12inch x 12 inch ziplock bags! Never would have thought to put gallon in the search. Wish me luck! Thank you Corinne

Several years ago I bought some strong ziplock bags on ebay that I use for storing paper packs in once a collection has started to be cut out so I don't lose all the bits and pieces. I have just been searching and cant seem to find anything similar.
Does anybody know where you can buy these? I did find 18 at a scrapbook shop here in Australia- 50c each but with postage added quite expensive. I would like to buy 30-50 if possible.
Thanks Corinne

When I was 15 I was going through a hippy phase and on this particular day was wearing a very floaty, long silk skirt with a jumper whilst riding my bike. Now , my bike happened to be a boys racing bike so had the crossbar. I was riding down the main road that led to our capital city, very busy 3 lane road. I could see the traffic lights ahead turning orange so was about to start slowing down, when all of a sudden my bike came to a very, abrupt stop and I landed right onto the crossbar. My skirt had gotten caught in the spokes of my bike! I tried to entangle my skirt- no luck so I had to hobble about 15 feet to a traffic island in the middle of a 4 way intersection, CARRYING my bike with my skirt hiked above my waist. It was winter so luckily I was wearing black tights so no showing of underwear at least. Then I spent 10 minutes trying to get my skirt out without ripping in while people stopped at the lights just sat in the cars and stared at me. I eventually managed to wrap my skirt around the front and tied it in a knot above my knees. And yes, I continued riding another 15 minutes into town and met my friends, then rode the 45 minutes home again. Corinne

I watched it when I was a kid, my mum was a big fan of Raymond Burr. A random fact- Raymond Burr lived in Fiji and he loved orchids and the famous Garden of the Sleeping Giants was started to house his orchid collection. My mum lived in Fiji for a while and loved the garden. ( her garden back here in Australia had quite a collection of orchids)On our 5th trip to Fiji we actually stayed at the Orchid which was his original home. It is very 70's and has lots of photos and memorabilia. Only 6 bures so very private. Now after all that I shall definitely check out the new series! Corinne

If you loved the original novels, Scholastic Book club have brought them out in graphic novel form. Our students are loving them! I still have some of the really old novels on the shelves ready for culling, but I think I shall bring them out and put them alongside the new versions.

I recently started subbing to Uniquely Creative Kits (Australian): www.uniquelycreative.com.auI am blown away by the beautiful quality of their papers and die cuts. And the amount and variety of products in their monthly kits is so good for the price. I think their international shipping rates aren't great (thank you Australia Post) and I don't know if there are any international suppliers. But for my fellow Aussies (and maybe Kiwis) I'd highly recommend checking them out. Uniquely Creative are based where I live ( one of the owners was in fact a classmate back in year 3!) and I have been buying many of their kits over the past year or so. I never subscribed because sometimes the kits were not my style and I didn't think I would use them. I would just order from their website or buy from a local scrapbook shop. However, due to great demand with their subscriptions, they announced they may have less kits available after subscribers get theirs. So I signed up for my first ever scrapbook kit subscription! Their paper is really beautiful and very good quality and I love all the little bits and pieces that I would normally never buy but get to try in small doses. And I really like their versatile dies ( add ons) Their customer service is great too- I bought something online from them, forgot an item and then added it later. I sent an email to see if they could put it in the same order to post and I wasn't fussed about the postage I had paid. They immediately refunded it anyway and I received the items together. I will just challenge myself to use any paper/kits that are out of my comfort zone or gift it to friends. Corinne

We watch it every week. It's probably the only program we have on reminder. Even though it is left leaning, Chas certainly does his research and will include information to show that sometimes it is the way in which polls/questions are worded that provide a different view and he presents a realistic view of how we perceive what we here in Australia see through our media/internet. I am quite fascinated with all the information and opinions I see on this website and am probably more invested in US politics than Australian.
It's 11pm here for me too, so I hope I make sense!

Kaisercraft- Uncharted waters- lighthouses, rope, nautical, some crabs/fish, shells, ships anchors etc. Lots of soft blues, browns and greens. Sorry not sure how to link pictures. I love tropical beach papers because we holiday in tropical places but I too wanted some less "beachy" paper for our home beach holidays which are more rugged and rough.
