I use her sketchbooks for 99% of my scrapbooking so I will definitely check out her videos. I paid a lot for them originally as I had to pay postage to Australia - was so glad when they started doing E books and I could download and use within 24 hrs.

I just read the article. I wish them a lifetime of happiness. But I just can’t get past the idea that weddings larger than the officiant, the couple, and two witnesses are banned, but school is still in session. What the heck? Yes, our state has decided that we will still teach till NEXT Friday and then staff will be required to go in for 4 pupil free days to work out online teaching options for next term. We will have two weeks of holidays after these pupil free days. Our numbers have decreased during the last week or so - my team (3 classes) had the highest attendance - approx. 20 per class but today (still the highest attendance!!) but only about 12 in each class. Some of the students told me that today was their last day - so they will have 3 weeks off from school. We will probably double up classes so we can start preparing online learning stuff early. Our govt is still saying it is safe for them to be there - we have several pregnant teachers who are entitled to special leave and finished up today. We are preparing for term 2 to be combination of online learning and in school learning for parents who wish to send their children and their is a big push to stay open for children of essential workers, particularly health care workers. Interesting times indeed!

Kaisercraft are only releasing one collection per month now which I'm a bit sad about. I love their collections and subscribed to my first kit club because they used Kaisercraft exclusively. Releasing 2 per month meant usually I liked at least one and often both.
I do like native breeze though. Living in Australia it's nice to have plants/animals themes based on our surroundings. Just about to scrap my Christmas photos with kangaroos and emus in Christmas hats! I do live close to one of their stores and buy my calendars and diaries from them each year. I'm glad I stocked up on extra sets of some of my favourite collections before Christmas.
Although I bought about 10 kits, I confess I have only made 2 layouts so far! Guess I now have the chance to catch up on using them!

Afghani- we love their eggplant/ curry dishes and their charcoal dishes are yummy too. Another vote for Filipino - adobe pork belly or chicken wings. Easy to make and very delicious. In our house we have several cultural backgrounds - Indian/Burmese, Filipino, Welsh and a bit of Australian thrown in as well! My daughter loves experimenting with new dishes so I shall challenge her with some of the ideas in this thread for sure. Corinne

I bought the Google Pixel 2 last year purely so I could leave my SLR camera/lenses home when I went on holiday. Love the quality of the photos. However, I still don't have a cover! I cannot find any store here that stocks them and have found one on the internet recently which said it fits the 2 and 3 but I'm worried that it will slip off mine. And I have not yet sat down and worked out how to download my pictures to my computer so that I can print them out. I had an iPhone before and I loved how easy it was to just connect to my computer and it downloaded automatically. I know there must be a simple way - I just cant seem to work it out! So if anybody has any tutorials to recommend I would be very happy! Corinne

Back in the old days, I would often print my title in connected italics, in reverse, on the backside of my paper, and then cut it out by hand. It took forever, but I liked the look. I remember using the latest font - Scriptina! It was SO thin and I used an Exacto knife to cut it out. Reason 1001 I bought my first Cameo! Corinne

I agree, I wish they still made the MM trimmer. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I still use mine every day!! I'm sure I have mentioned this story before- the plastic ruler broke about 10 yrs ago and it was going to cost me over $20 shipping from US to Australia. (ruler was only about $7) and I whinged on 2Peas about it. A lovely lady who ran a scrapbook store in Western Australia kindly offered to order one in to her shop, alongside her order of MM paper etc. She also ordered me a blade even though it was self sharpening and not meant to get blunt. Then, she refused to take any payment whatsoever from me, just said drop in if you are ever in WA. About 2700 km away!! I have drawn new lines and numbers on in sharpie as they had faded away, the ruler doesn't stay in place down one end ( usually just hold it) and it is gaffer taped along the bottom as I dropped it in a carpark. Lately the blade was tearing paper, so I got out the "new" blade and it works perfectly. I have been checking out the new Creative Memories or Cutterpillar cutters with the light- but will wait until my MM really doesn't work any more. Best $100 I ever spent. Corinne

Yes, there have been a few discussions about this, but they might have been easily missed. When I had the issues, I decided to use it as an excuse to buy a Cameo 3, which I have loved. However, I have friends come over for card making once a month, and I provide the kits for the cards. After the new year, I may do the firmware update for my original Cameo and connect it to my older laptop, so I am glad to know that it is working for you. It would be nice to be able to cut two things at a time and still get more use out of my original Cameo. I think I did see one of those threads. Like you I bought another Cameo - I bought the 2. But I too am hoping to do the firmware update and then have two machines to use. I'm a librarian so I would probably take my older one to school and keep it there to use. Fingers crossed it works! South Australia is bad now. A cool change is apparently moving over right now but unfortunately it's bringing dry lightning as well. One dead in a vehicle accident, one person missing, 4 firefighters and 3 police in trouble with smoke inhalation. Do you live here? Yesterday was so hot, dry and windy - 45 degrees! I just read that Cosi and his family lost their farm near Woodside - but luckily all but one of their 400 sheep survived. A few years ago we were just 1k away from the evacuation zone but sadly the cattery near us did not make it and all the cats and most of the dogs perished. I still remember standing on my in laws property and watching the fires reach just across the road and listen to the houses go up in a nearby suburb ( where several people perished ) during the horrendous Ash Wednesday fires. We love living in the foothills of Adelaide, but it is scary during these dry summers- also knowing that many of the fires are believed to have deliberately lit. Corinne

My nephew (23) and my niece ( about to turn 18 on Christmas Eve) are in London right now. So glad they met up a few days ago to travel together for the rest of their journey through Europe.
They are okay, but so scary to see the news. This is their first trip travelling by themselves. We live in Australia so they are such a long way away. I cant even begin to comprehend the bravery of people who run TOWARD the attacker when every sense would be telling you to flee.

I read this story with a group of Year 4 students last year (10yr olds). I brought the video up on screen for them to watch and they all got teary- in a good way!
I also bought a lovely ( but sad) picture book about Cecil for our school library - you have now reminded me to share it again.

Oh, your cat layouts are so cute! I always stick to neutral, grey, kraft etc but I just might start using some bright and light backgrounds. Most of our cats were tabby/black and a few grey. And I love your use of the cut files- I actually have quite of few of them and haven't used them. I love the speech bubble one- can see using it with our current cat and put in all the quotes we imagine her saying!! Thanks for sharing. Corinne

I just read a recommendation for a Sephora lip mask on another thread, but was wondering what other things people have tried and would recommend. A Sephora has just opened up in our city and I will be going there to check it out in a few weeks, but don't want to go crazy and just buy everything! I'm 56 and don't wear a lot of makeup but would like some nice everyday stuff. I have pretty good skin for my age- but do have dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. Any suggestions very much welcomed. Thanks Corinne *It is nearly midnight here in Australia so will come back tomorrow !

Milk is what most people put in their coffee. ( says my husband! ) I don't drink hot drinks but have made them for others.
Milk and sugar in coffee or tea. Some people may use skim milk, but normal milk is more common I think.

By strange coincidence I just changed out the blade on my Making Memories big black trimmer this morning. Back on Two Peas in a Bucket I mentioned that is was going to cost me $7AUSD for a replacement plastic part but $36AUSD for the postage!!(from US to Australia) A very kind pea who owned a scrapbook shop in Australia (other side of the country to me!) offered to order it in for me. She also included a spare blade and REFUSED to accept any payment whatsoever for them- even mailing them to me. The blade is self sharpening but was catching a bit so I unwrapped the "new" blade. I know that one day I will need to buy a new trimmer but have been able to keep this one working thanks to her kindness all those years ago. Corinne

Last year I read this story with a group of Year 4 students in an extension reading group. ( we read lots of history, and non fiction texts) It was such an interesting story and yes, led us into discussing how health and safety laws are so important and how lucky we are to live in a country that (generally) has quite high levels of responsibility for companies. We even connected to our rules at school about keeping us safe. Corinne I'm going to go in search of this book now!

Definitely check your bags! We could smell something vile coming from our pantry and thought they were potatoes gone off. Nope! A pack of beef mince that had been left in a green bag for a few days. Corinne

When I was about 10yrs old, hotpants were all the rage! (the ones with a bib). I knew my mum kept our Christmas presents hidden at the top of her cupboard. I climbed up and reached into the shopping bag and saw/felt navy blue vinyl and a buckle!! Told all my friends I would be wearing hotpants with my white lace up boots on Christmas day. On opening my present I discovered a navy blue vinyl SHOULDER BAG!! I did love the bag and the Avon SSS powder inside. It also contained a hard cover book called Minnow Vale. I have looked all over the internet, found a picture of the cover but cannot find a copy of the book. I would love to find it one day. I do love Pinterest- I have found images of so many things we had in our house during the 60's and 70's and I am printing them off and making a childhood memories scrapbook album. Corinne Oh, the other thing- I was given a diamante cross necklace that had a little hole in the middle. When held up to the light you could read a copy of the Lords Prayer! I am an atheist now, but would buy that necklace in a heartbeat if I found it!

Unfortunately mine is one of the models for which a firmware update is not available. So for me personally, I have a very expensive paperweight sitting on my desk.
Do the newer models still rely on generic windows drivers? Or have Silhouette built their own drivers for new models?
Thank goodness I haven't thrown mine out! I think I will try and set it up to my work computer. I'm a school librarian and use it all the time for school and having it setup at work will be a bonus. I am just about to start setting up my Cameo 3 at home. It is so much physically bigger- am having to move my whole table setup to fit it in! My husband had made me a little shelf/hutch where the other one could slide under when not in use-this one definitely won't fit! Thanks for all this advice.

Take those worries right of the equation. You will be good for a very, very long time with a Cameo 3. Probably a decade or more. Silhouette still supports all their older machines and even when technology out dates them they help find workarounds. Actually, they don't. I have a machine that is less than 10 years old (edit: I purchased it in 2013 so it's 6 years old) that works perfectly well. But it no longer works with either of my computers. Silhouette have acknowledged that older machines (original silhouette and original silhouette cameo) are no longer compatible with the latest Windows 10 update and that they are not able to support these machines anymore. I believe the quote from them was something along the lines of 'technology changes and we're unable to continue to support our older products'.
I love my Silhouette and I have a 4 on pre-order, so I'm not trying to bash them at all. Just providing some clarity as it may influence a purchasing decision.
Oh, I wonder if this is what happened to my Silhouette Cameo ( bought in Dec 2011) It refused to connect to my computer - I spent several hours going painstakingly through their list of troubleshooting ideas but finally decided my machine had just died. Pretty sure my computer automatically upgraded recently. I just bought the Cameo 3 so fingers crossed! Corinne

I started watching last night. I'm half way through episode 3. So far it's even better than the first season- which I loved! However it could be a bit slow at times, these new episodes are not.

Hi all,
I am trying to cut a Movie Night file out for some invitations ( needed asap of course!) it is from the Silhouette store.
When I put it onto my mat and try to resize it like I normally do - pulling the corners in, it only makes part of the file resize, the outer mat stays the same size. It seems that it is not welded at all!
I have no idea how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

At a scrapbooking day on Saturday I sat next to someone who I think I have met before but never really spoken to. She was similar age, worked in education like me ( in fact at a neighbouring school). We were talking about growing up in multicultural neighbourhoods back in the 60's and 70's ( we grew up in close suburbs) and I mentioned how we were Indian, my best friend was Dutch/Indonesian when she suddenly said "what was their name?' As soon as I said their very unusual surname she started naming the whole family! She was my best friends' cousin! My friend whom I met aged 5, went back to Holland at 16, returned for a few years (bringing back an older boyfriend!) who she married - My partner and I were the only guests at their wedding apart from immediate family. She went back to Holland to live and our only contact in 30 years was a few postcards, a few emails at one stage and recently reconnected on Facebook. She is not that fluent in English and rarely comments on there. We had such a lovely time chatting and of course took a selfie to share with my friend in Amsterdam! Corinne

We went and saw it this afternoon and really enjoyed it! I definitely liked it more than the animated version and I loved Timon and Pumba, Seth Rogen was awesome. It was also the 1st movie we took our 2 oldest to when they were little. The reviews that weren't favorable what were the complaints I'm curious? We just got home and I agree with you. My husband had NEVER ever seen the original movie and he really enjoyed it. I'm also curious about why there were negative reviews. I think it followed the same storyline and I loved the look of it all. Corinne
