Sorry for your loss. My mum loved Elvis Presley so we played his version of Amazing Grace for the background music along with "arms of an Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Family was everything to her so we chose Celine Dione - "Because you loved me" to honour how much she loved and supported us all. For my dad's - 'This guy's in love with you" musical version by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass- I remember Dad putting us on his feet and dancing around the living room with us. We chose "pictures of you" by "The last goodnight" - it has a mention of the cure in the lab - my dad had Parkinsons and Altzheimers. I wrote and presented both eulogies and have written up a document ( which I update and change occasionally!) listing my song choices, notes about my life I want mentioned etc. And I loved putting the powerpoints together- we moved to Australia many years ago so most of our family live overseas - it was lovely to share photos and memories with them. I made a powerpoint for my 50th so I just add a few new photos each year so whoever has to do mine won't have a lot to do! Corinne

cadoodlebug - Hinterland is also one of my favourites - probably as the locations are close to me corinne11 do you mind sharing which part of Wales 🏴 your husband is from? He is originally from Crumlin- South Wales but I think he holidayed in some of the locations. He is asleep now, I'll ask him where.

We loved Hinterland- I think I mentioned it on a thread before. My husband is Welsh and loved pointing out all the places he had been- in fact he is going back in 2 weeks time for the first time in 45 years so hopefully will get a chance to visit all the places!
I think I watched the first series of Wanted a few years ago but didn't realise there was another series. Must add it to our list.

I just saw the other thread and only got as far as the first post which had links to bathers- which I am always looking for! They look great- I'm guessing there will be a measurement guide on their site? I'm in Australia, so will investigate further. I'm looking for light cardigans too ( Modcloth seem to be phasing out my favourite cardigans.) Just posting so I can keep my spot! Corinne

Yes! We bought one a few weeks ago and absolutely love it- mind you, we haven't yet explored all the ways it can be used!! A friend of my husbands lost heaps of weight using one- he loved chips and fried chicken, steak, still eats them, all cooked in the air fryer. We bought a large one ( on special $360AU) so they are not cheap. Easy to clean, all 3 pieces go straight in the dishwasher. I love fried chicken wings - a little bit of salt and straight in- 30 minutes later, done! We have made chips also- crisp but soft inside. I am going to look for a Facebook group to get some more ideas, Corinne

My husband is a scuba diver and has dived in in Bali, Hawaii, Komodo Island, Bali and of course Australia.
We have been to Fiji SIX times because it is still his favourite place to dive. He loved this video and could identify features and places he has dived in Benqua Lagoon in Fiji.
Thanks for sharing it- I have saved it. He takes photos and some film footage but nothing beats a professional!

My mum passed away the week before Mother's Day, 4 years next week. We always got together for a Mother's Day lunch at our home or my sisters.
We couldn't face lunch a few days after her funeral and we kind of haven't really gone back to our family tradition since then.
My sister did ring yesterday and we are meeting for a casual dinner at a trendy outdoor eatery place the Friday night before Mothers Day- very different from our home lunches. But you know, it will be a nice evening and I am quite happy to have a low key Mothers Day at home.
I miss my mum, but am glad she is no longer living in a nursing home with dementia. She knew us right up until the end, when she basically just slipped away. It was a life she had always dreaded and we really believe she just had enough- refused to eat and passed away a few days later.
We were so lucky to have her as our mum and have so many funny, treasured memories of our life together. So Mothers day is more bittersweet than sad for me.

I clicked on this thread because I was intrigued to see how it WAS pronounced! Here in Australia I have only ever heard it pronounced Ki-oat-ee. To be fair, we don't have much call to talk about them - The only wild dog on our continent is called a dingo - ding-o Corinne

I actually liked some of the features of the house - but yes, the ad is very lame. It was on our news last night. I can't believe he left his car parked OVER the footpath!! Great way to get your car keyed. Especially when he had a driveway and a carport to use. Corinne

I'm in Australia and have just placed my first order with them. They had Echo Park under the sea collection, which I really wanted. I bought 12 x 12 paper pack and 2 embellishment packs. Amazon was the same price but only one embellishment pack. They shipped within a day and my shipping update tells me my package is in California. (4 days later) Estimated time was 8 -30 days I think so I will be interested to see how long it does take. They do seem to sell some nice things. Corinne Update- my package shipped on the 16th of March and has arrived today on the 26th March!! 10 days including a weekend. I will certainly be buying from them again. I don't know whereabouts in the USA they are based but I am in Adelaide- so it also had to come from Sydney. Corinne

Love Ricky Gervais- he was on the Graham Norton show last night. We have put this on our list to watch. I'm not sure if I can watch it right now- a very close friend is doing it very tough with cancer and I don't know it will be too personal for me. Corinne

Mine was taken at one of our Halloween parties. We decided to have a theme that year- Come dressed as a favourite song title. (it's a bit difficult to see but I managed to find material with little umbrellas all over it to make my dress! ) Corinne

Yes, I am pretty sure it is still on the shelf on my library! And I read it back in the 70's with our school librarian.
I must get it out and make a classic display- I know we still have Ping and I am looking for an original version of Ferdinand the bull.

"This scrapbooking message board I go on" - only really mention it when talking about USA politics strangely enough! Mainly because this board gives me so much more "real life" opinions and details about all the stuff going on. We get the simplified version on our news and most people don't talk about politics.

I think you must be thinking of someone else, I’m FB friends with Kristen/KikiNichole and she’s definitely not divorced. Oh, carp, who am I thinking of? Longish brown hair, thin, one daughter. She came back, wrote about changes in her life, but didn’t stick around long. She was a frequent poster on the old board. Tangent: there was somebody else who came back for a short time. Single, Chicago, regaled us with stories about a mysterious “Mr. Darcy” from her work building she had a stranger crush on. She left suddenly because of online security concerns, deleted all her posts, came back a couple years later and said everything was fine, posted up a storm for a couple days, and disappeared again. I want to say “Delilah” but I also think that could be totally wrong... I remember the "Mr Darcy" poster! She was a librarian in a big city ?? Dark, curly hair- I can picture her but not her name. Oh yes. Scrapper Jess WAS the backpack mum! Corinne Corinne

That second woman you mention was a nutball. Wasn't she the one who posted how sad it made her, or how awful it was that mothers were glad when the school year started back up. I can't remember her name but I can picture her. I don't remember that lady's name but her thread was "I have a bee in my bonnet!" And she vented about moms who were so eager to "get rid" of their kids by sending them off to school every day. And then she went on to detail all the fun, quality time she'd be spending with her kids that summer...as she drove them around to different activities where she could dump them off! lol the irony was fabulous. I remember the "bee in my bonnet" thread title, because several peas eloquently told her what she could do with that bonnet. I don't think they were the same person- "bee in my bonnet" was not a regular poster- bulletproof backpack mum was. She was very vocal about home schooling and I feel that she was blonde and relatively younger. I always thought "Bee in my bonnet" was a thread someone clever made up to get people riled up! Corinne

What about the pea who faked her own death? She either lived in Kansas or was a Kansas University fan. Oh I was just going to mention this- she had several foster children. And someone phoned her home and her husband answered- she was alive and well. (Sass?? something) I think she came back later on and it was all kind of forgiven- she seemed a lot calmer. And there was the Pea who also had foster children that she home- schooled. One child was having to attend school ( not her choice) and she posted asking for advice on "bullet proof backpacks". ! And I think she nicknamed the little boy "Coffee or Cocoa" which caused mayhem as it seemed to be based on the colour of his skin. There was a lot more to these two- hopefully someone with a better memory than remember! Corinne

Does anyone remember a guy who used to post. He had a blog, too, and was an IT guy from AZ IIRC. I think he stumbled in here for the photography board and got sucked into the NSBR and always had something good to add to the conversation. It was a time when everyone listed their cameras and lens in their signature and he listed a Fisher Price model along with his SLR. Chris the photographer (ZDY) passed away in 2010. His mom was (is?) still here. But he wasn’t from Az so I’m not sure if that’s the same person you’re thinking of. That's whom I was thinking of-had the beautiful photo of New York(?) as his avatar. And yes his mother has posted on this thread.

I miss the layout gallery. In the first few days after the shutdown I went in and copied and pasted all the layouts I had saved. I still have them in a folder on my computer under 2Peas. And because I am a simple scrapper I still them for inspiration! Now they are all printed out in categories 1 photo vertical, 2 photos horizontal, tags, patterned paper etc and put into display books. I know I have a lot of quotes/titles from Pea Soup printed out somewhere in my filing cabinet too. Corinne

I read about it last week with my 4th graders. Scholastic News had an article about it. My kids had an omg reaction to it. At first you think it might be a funny story about a weird incident and then you find out many people died and it just shouldn't have happened. I also read it last year with my students through a Historicool Magazine I buy. I had never heard of it before - of course we had to spend a few minutes discussing what molasses was first. It was a terrible tragedy and we related it to how important health and safety laws are now. Corinne

We have one from Ikea which cost maybe $3? We thought it had died after a few years but put a new battery in and it's all good again! It is directly above our vanity unit and I look at it during blow drying, straightening and doing my makeup. I haven't worn a watch since I went on a tropical holiday back in 2005 so I am used to looking for clocks to tell me the time!! Corinne

I was just talking to my husband about unsolved crimes and I mentioned the news that one of the missing children had been identified from the story of the mother that drove her 6 children over the cliff. What? How did I miss that?!? They found a foot/shoe , part of jeans wrapped in net(?) washed up in October and the biological mother gave her DNA to be tested. It is the missing girl. Sadly, still no sign of Devonte - he's the boy photographed hugging a police officer that was all over the internet. I can't find the link now , but it was on our local news internet news feed. THEN I was talking about this story and how unlikely it was now that this girl was alive.
10 minutes later, I logged on to see it on our news. ( Australia)

NPR.... “After the 2016 presidential election, teachers around the U.S. reported seeing increased name-calling and bullying at school. Now, a new study confirms that areas where voters favored Donald Trump are seeing higher rates of bullying within the classroom.” For background - I teach primary students ( 5-13 yr olds) and have done so for nearly 30 years. (Australia) Our kids do not ever mention politics and if questioned can't always tell me who our prime minister who is. ( to be fair on this one, it changes very often!!) in 2009 I put a picture of Barack Obama in a quiz- they thought he was George Bush! I can't say politics in the USA have influenced name- calling or bullying- BUT many of my students mention Donald Trump quite regularly - in a negative manner, which means they are watching TV and seeing a lot about him on social media. I have a couple- one is my childhood/family photos. I have first job ( all journaling), teaching photos, events and I do try and have photos of just me with random journaling- Me at 21 etc. I do have the Book of Me! I was tidying/culling my craft room this morning and came across it. I threw 10 other books out but couldn't part with this one as the ideas are still relevant along with a Simple Stories Quiz one which has ideas for questions to ask, of yourself or others. I really like the idea of taking one photo a month and journaling some thoughts- maybe take some more creative photos rather than just head shots- eg maybe at a scrapbook class, maybe reading a book. Mmm- will think about this one a bit more! Corinne TFS. Do you have a link to the SS quiz you mentioned? I looked a bit, but am not finding one. Sorry, I just checked - NOT simple stories, it is a Simple Scrapbooks magazine, special issue called scrapbook shortcuts with quizzes and questions. I will take some photos of some of the quizzes tonight and post them to give you an idea.
