I know it is expensive, but the peloton is totally worth every penny. I'm 2.5 years and 1,050 rides in and I've tried other bikes and it's a totally different experience. Our family pooled to buy one for my sister-in-law that had been using a cheaper bike and she was floored by the difference and is so happy to finally have a peloton.

SF Bay Area.
Summer of 2000 I was paid $8 an hour to watch 1 kid.
I haven't used teens with my kids. I have only used older women. I pay $25 an hour for 1, up to $40 an hour for all 4.

I have 4 kids too young to be vaccinated yet. We will continue to mask indoors, only go out to eat where we can do it outdoors, and avoid crowds. We haven't been so careful for the last year to throw it all away when we are so close to the end of this. I really worry about my kids getting it now because people are being so much more relaxed. I have been vaccinated since April and we did venture on our first plane flight since April 2020, I have no desire to do that again any time soon.

I homeschooled mine for the first time. I did it with one other mom that has girls the same ages as my middle 2 boys. I taught language arts, she taught science and social studies, her mom (a former middle and high school math teacher) taught math. My kids were in preschool, pre-K, 2nd, and 4th grade. Before having my own kids I taught Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th, so I, in theory, knew what I was doing.
We literally bought our house for our school district. Our plan at the moment is to send them back in the fall. But I now feel comfortable that if I need to pull them out for some reason that I could handle teaching them.
We had a great year. The other family was as covid conscious (if not more) than we were, so we felt safe. All 6 kids got along really well. We actually spent last month in Hawaii with the other family and had a blast. I would do it again with them in a heartbeat. At the moment the plan is to send them back, mostly. because our pre-K kids will be in Kindergarten and we want them to experience Kindergarten at their school. The teachers are wonderful.

I didn't want to love them, but I really like the Ruby Ribbon ones. A woman I used to buy fabric from sells them. I have 5 now and really, really like them.

I pay $250 a week. They do 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths and a half bath. 4,000 sq feet. I try to pick up as much as I can before they come, but I have 4 kids, so there is always stuff. It is 2-3 people that come it takes 2-4 hours.

We did this today and I wasn't super impressed. The line was insanely long, it was hot so they melted quickly. Of the flavors we had I liked the guava, liliko, yuzu, pickled mango. Not impressed with the raspberry, lemon/lime, lime, or cherry.

DH and I are going to Honolulu in July to see our son. While we have always *wanted* to go to Hawaii, we weren't planning on doing it this soon so I feel like I am late in planning. But here we are and I need some guidance on what to do and what to skip. I doubt this will be our only trip before he moves back stateside, but just in case it is, I'd like to get most out of this trip. We are there for a week. During the day, its just DH and I and DS2 will join us on Friday/Sat/Sunday all day and every night after he is off work. Right now, the only *must* do that I have booked is Pearl Harbor. Getting the lei's at the airport? Worth it? Dole Plantation? Worth it? Luau worth it? We'd like to hike to see a waterfall. Any recommendations? Whats not worth the effort and time? Restaurant recommendations? Our hotel is on Waikiki Beach. I think I'd like to send DH fishing one day we are there, but then Im not real sure what I would do while he is gone. So, throw me anything you know or suggest. On my potential list of things to see/do: Manoa Falls Diamond Head Halona Blowhole Hanuama Bay for snorkeling Iolani Palace - not sure if its worth a tour or not? Waimea Valley Toa Luau - not sure if its worth the $$ Ko Olina Lagoons - for a sunset Rainbow Drive In - supposed to be good local food Ala Moana Center - shopping Leonards Bakery Sharks Cove - not sure if its only for scuba or also snorkeling Manoa Falls - currently closed. It has been closed for a while, it was supposed to have been reopened by now, but isn't yet. Hanuama Bay for snorkeling - Totally worth it!!! You have to make reservations online, 2 days before at 7am Hawaii time. You need to be on and refresh right at 7am and book immediately. They will all sell out in less than 2 minutes. They have it spaced out well and it doesn't seem too crowded. We did it at 7:30am and it was perfect! Waimea Valley - beautiful. They open at 9am. Get there before they open, be in line and walk quick to the waterfall. Then you can enjoy it before the crowds arrive. We did it a couple weeks ago at the end of the day and there were a lot of people. But we did it again today and got there at 9:03 and walked quick (as quick as we could with kids ages 3, 5, 8, 10). There were only a couple people in when we got there, we got in, over to the waterfall and got pictures and enjoyed and got out. By the time we got out there were a lot of people and they were running low on life vests (everyone that gets in the water needs to be wearing a coast guard certified life vest, they have them there for you to use for free). Both times we really enjoyed walking back slowly reading about the flowers and the cultural/historical/spiritual significance of the valley. Thursdays they have a farmers market in the afternoon that was lovely. Dole Plantation - I had never been. It was fun and interesting, but crowded! We did the train and maze and it was hot! The dole whips are delicious! Get there when/before it opens. If you are going to do the train send one person to get in line for that and the other in the tickets line. The line for the train took forever. Luau - we did the one at Sea Life Park. It was fun, the food was okay, entertainment was fun. Book it asap. Everything is booked weeks, if not months out. BOOK EVERYTHING ASAP!!!! I called Duke's on May 6th to get a dinner reservation, they let me know that they were booked for months out. You can show up at 4 to put your name in and then they text you when your table is ready. We've been here since May 6th and go home Thursday, it has gotten a lot more crowded since we arrived. Please feel free to ask me any other questions, I'll do my best to answer.

We're on Oahu right now. We tested before we came, we did it with the company affiliated with the airline. I haven't heard anything about testing being dropped. We are vaccinated but still tested.
If you haven't already, book things asap. Restaurants are booked out months from now, same with luaus, tours, cars, etc.
We are lucky we are staying with friends at a house, so all we had to worry about were flights and car. But the car situation was a headache and it took forever to get it at the airport.
People are pretty good with masks. But there are a lot of people here. We are staying in a nontourist area and our friends have taken us to do things that they normally see no one when doing and it is packed.

At the risk of bringing down the wrath of the peas on me, I just want to politely note that the author of that blog has no medical qualifications whatsoever. Our best epidemiologists agree there is a risk of these variants beginning to spread, but they're not nearly as alarmist about the possibility at this time. They also don't agree with her about the effectiveness of masks. And they remind us that more vaccinations mean fewer transmissions, even if the vaccines aren't perfect. Just something to consider in your calculus. Agree that she isn't a doctor. The issue with masks is that what we have seen is that people that don't believe in them/don't want to wear them are the ones that are engaging in the riskiest behavior and are at the greatest risk of spreading it to others. The adults in our house are vaccinated, but the kids aren't old enough. So we will all continue to mask up and be careful and thoughtful in our excursions out of our house. I haven't been super anal and careful for over a year to blow it now.

I have 4 kids, so no laying around in the sun. That said we are 3 weeks into a 4 week trip to Hawaii and we are all really tan. We all have sunscreen on from 10-3 and the kids wear rash guards. But we all tan pretty easily. We were really careful the first week, since we were all pretty pale (for us). No burns so far!

My vent is selfish and whiny. I hate that my birthday gets forgotten. Only one sibling texted me a HB. I usually never work on my birthday but boss asked me to, so that we could “celebrate at work” with a “wheat free cake or something “. So I broke my personal rule of working on my birthday. I actually changed a hair appointment that I made for my birthday to go into work. He wasn’t there nor was most of the people I worked with, they were working at another location. I worked alone at my desk the entire day, one staff member came down an hour or do before end of day and said “today’s you’re birthday?” He had just saw it on our daily planner that we all check in on—I said yup! Boss texted later and wished me a HB (he forgot) so that was a bummer. I did receive a gift from hubby/kids, and he said we’ll go for ice cream too. That didn’t happen. But then it turned to what’s for dinner? And I made dinner and went to bed. So then my friends realized a day/days after that they too missed my birthday (it does appear on Facebook) and that’s where they wished me bday wishes. Late. I never forget theirs. Our dog’s birthday is a few days after mine and I always post a picture of dog with birthday 🎂 and I swear to god my dog got 40 happy birthday posts!!! So then, in my glorious pity party, I was thinking of things that happened recently. At work, when we have a busy time or will be working nonstop, I always coordinate lunches (like I’ll make mini charcuterie boxes or a bunch of salads) and I pay attention to everyone’s dietary restrictions (we have a vegan, a vegetarian, one allergic to avocado, another who does not do sugars) and I’ll specifically make and tag their food accordingly. I keep 3 gallon dispensers in the fridge filled with tea and iced coffee. On the one day where another girl does the lunch ordering (I wasn’t aware that they were ordering anything that day), I’m not even asked if I want anything—she orders. (It’s pizza) so an hour or so later, someone mentions to me if I’ve eaten lunch, that they ordered in and it’s upstairs, I ask if they ordered any wheat/gluten free (everyone at work knows I’m allergic to wheat) but nope. It’s all normal pizza. Forgotten again. And finally, sibling/relative having a little outdoor, immediate family only, small graduation from preschool party and they say they are ordering pizza. I inquire as to where do I can check out menu. Figures. Only chain pizza place who doesn’t do GF pizza. So I have to bring my own food. They don’t want to change places as they love the one they chose. Gaaahhh. A pathetic whiny pity and petty vent. You are completely validated! All of that totally sucks. I think as moms there is just something that makes our birthdays no fun. We always put in so much effort for everyone else and then when it is our turn we always get forgotten. Hugs!!

PolarGreen12 Just curious, do you use all these tumblers or just collect? I actually use them. I have a few dozen so I rotate them. And some are seasonal/holiday. I always have one at work, home and in the car pretty much.
I am a water junkie and can't stand the metal tumblers so these are perfect for me.
I am a total water junkie too! I had been using Contigo plastic ones, they are made from a heavier plastic, but the straws kept breaking. I am on a group that is obsessed with them (the group itself isn't about the cups, but a lot of the members love the cups). I have 3 or 4 at home and didn't bring any on this trip. We are here in a house for 4 weeks, so I figured I needed some here. But of course my daughter stole the ombre one and is trying to convince me that I need to buy her a pineapple one too. Usually I prefer the metal ones, but I love the texture on the pineapple one!

I haven't seen that one. But we are in Hawaii and I just bought 3 Hawaii-only ones! There is a pineapple one (yellow main part, green lid), a blue/green ombre with a coral reef top, and one that has tropical fruits on it. I am in love!

We are in the SF/Bay Area and Zillow, redfin, and truillo have our house at $2 million over what we paid 3 years ago. Realtor.com is only $600,000 over what we paid.
We have considered, but can't find any where that we like as much as here that we can get a house we like as much as ours. But is is tempting!
I just looked and there is a house on our road that is pending for $800,000 over what they paid for it 2 years ago. Sold in less than a week.

9.6 miles. I delivered all 4 of my kids at the same hospital that I was delivered at. 19.1 miles from my parents and 4.7 miles from my inlaws.
But we live in the SF Bay Area, which I tend to think of differently than a lot of the US in terms of living where you grew up. A lot more people and towns between us than in a lot of areas.

This is very timely for me, because I just ordered a weighted blanket last week. The recommended weight for me was 25lb, the recommended weight for me was 25lb, which does not come in a twin size, which is what I wanted. So I had to get a queen size, and I’m not sure how that’s going to work on our king size bed. DH doesn’t want it on his side. I keep wondering if I should return this thing before I open it! I have a feeling it’s just going to be a winter blanket. Fold it on half on top of you. I sleep under 3 (more than the recommended weight for me, but I love it). I have a single 20 lbs, a single 25 lbs, and we share a 35lb queen/king. Dh uses the other half of the queen/king and a 20lbs one. We have the cooling covers and I feel like they work well. We have sheets, thin blanket, queen weighted, then our twin ones. All of ours are from Gravity Blanket. We got our first when they were on kickstarter and we love them. We even have a set out in CO at dh's sisters'. During summer we try to keep our room 66ish for sleeping. I don't usually have a problem with getting too warm.

We haven't done it, but it is on our list of things to do.
We were told to set up 2 lines of guardianship, one for physical and one for financial. For each of those we were told to list 3 people in order of preference.
We have my sister for the first physical, good friends for 2nd physical and another set of friends for 3rd physical. The #2 physical is the #1 financial, #2 financial is my sister's husband, and #3 financial is one of dh's sisters. We plan to also set up the 1/3 at college graduation, 1/3 at 25/30, and the last at 30/35. They will all have funded 529's that should cover college, but we will also have plans for that as well.

Oh gosh...I did not need to read this thread. Our Peleton is supposed to be here Friday and now I am afraid. I adore my Peloton. I have had it since January 2019 and I have done over 900 rides. If you can't figure out your fit, Matt Wilpers has a whole crew of bike fitters that you can make an appointment with. Worth every penny!!

They only sold the cones that are more cylindrical than the traditional 31-flavors cone shaped cones. The cylinder that came out of the scoop fit perfectly in the shelf of the cones. Like a DQ or Fosters style cone. Ah, that makes sense! Because the way she did it on the video was kinda silly - one big cylinder of ice cream plonked precariously on top of a cone. No thanks, I want ice cream all the way down to the bottom of the cone! So now beaglemom needs to find us some Thrifty cones. Maybe someone will come back in a few years when they find them online! lt looks like I can Instacart them from RiteAid cones

i may have to get this for my kid's easter basket! where is thrify's? Ive never heard of that brand. Looking online it looks like they were a drugstore company 1919-1992. Now the Thrifty name and logo live on through Thrifty Ice Cream, sold in West Coast Rite Aid locations and various ice cream shops in the southwestern United States and over 200 across Mexico.
