Joining in here to bask in the glow of my two cleaned and organized bathroom closets. I’ve got a big bag of stuff to donate, much went in the garbage, and my closets look beautiful! I hope to keep the momentum going.

I just learned that I too have them. Not sure who gifted them to me bc my parents don’t have them. Has anyone had surgery? I’m not there yet, but I can see it happening. I had bunion surgery this past summer. I did both feet at the same time. It was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. I couldn’t fully bear weight for 8 weeks so I basically “walked” on my heels and the outsides of my feet with the help of crutches. It was totally 100% worthwhile.

This SHOULD be shocking, but unfortunately it’s not really. With gun laws practically non existent or unenforced in many states in the US, this is going to happen more and more often. Same with the 6 year old shooting a classmate. It’s the inevitable end result of gun culture gone wild.

It’s definitely not for me. I’ve heard many horror stories. However, my sister in law just had cosmetic surgery in Tijuana and she’s very very happy with the results. Her surgeon lives in California and goes to Tijuana every day to his surgical centre, where he operates on one patient per day. He does “mommy makeovers” so multiple procedures on one patient at a time. I don’t know what she paid, but I know it’s a thriving specialty and I see surgical packages advertised for 7-10k.

I’d do hardwood everywhere, with a runner on the stairs and area rugs in most rooms. I’m not a fan of wall to wall carpet at all.

I have long hair and I’m 52. I think as long as your hair is well cared for and styled, long hair on older women is great. However, when it’s gray or partially gray, long and wiry and frizzy with no discernible style, it’s terrible. You know the look… aging hippie with grey hair in a centre part and long loose braid, half falling out and really scraggly looking?? That is going to make you look really old.

Do you think William is similarly damaged? After all, their mother’s tragic death and the aftermath happened to both of them. No. Different children have different inherent levels of resiliency. It was horrific, when I was 9, to come home from a sleepover at my friend Tracy’s house one afternoon to find out my father died doing something he did regularly. My sister and I suffered the same tragic death of a parent, but we responded and moved forward throughout our lives very differently. It is naive to think that all children in any given family - royal or not - will/should respond to tragedy identically. Do you respond to every given situation exactly how your siblings do? No need to be snotty, I simply asked you a question. My only sibling is deceased.

I just keep wondering what huge, horrible event happened between all of them that made him say "fuck it - I'm burning allll the bridges." What was the straw that broke the camel's back? Because surely that has to be why he's doing this, right? He could have written a memoir without throwing his father and brother under the bus. He claims he hopes they can all reconcile, yet he just poured gas on a fire? He has to see what he's done? All I can say is that my older sister a number of years ago (long after she was an adult and practicing lawyer) gave my mother - on Mother’s Day - a short story that she had written as part of a writer’s workshop she enrolled in, blaming my mom for everything wrong in my sister’s life. Our father was killed in a freak scuba diving accident when she was 12, I was 9. So, we aren’t completely dissimilar from Harry in that one little aspect. My sister was so damaged by her childhood that she absolutely did not/does not see that there was nothing positive to be gained by sharing that. She had some fantasy that my mother would read her story and see the errors of my mom’s ways. (I’d put the laughing emoji, but it is too tragic since it is my family). She 💯 % believed it would change everything for the better. Instead, I was left to pick up all the pieces of my mother who raised us as a single parent after my father died without the luxury of the British Royal coffers. Damaged people are damaged. They don’t see things realistically. Harry is very very damaged. Do you think William is similarly damaged? After all, their mother’s tragic death and the aftermath happened to both of them.

I have zero desire to downsize even though we are currently in 4100 square feet for 3 of us plus our dog. We would want to stay in our current area, which is all single family housing of generally the same size (or bigger) than our house. If we did find something suitable it would likely require a gut renovation, so we wouldn’t be ahead financially. Our yard is gorgeous and full of huge trees. We are steps from the river valley. Great neighbours. I feel like I need a lot of room to spread out, and I feel very uncomfortable in cramped spaces.
FWIW, my parents, both turning 79 shortly, have not yet downsized from their 5000 square foot home. Their winter home is smaller, and feels cramped to me but they don’t mind it.

This reminds me of the episode of Servant (does anyone watch it???) where Leanne makes a king cake and eats the entire thing with her hands while trying to find the “baby” 😳

The prices of Chanel etc have gone up a crazy amount in the last couple of years. I don't own Chanel ( I have a few vintage LV) but am in a few high end bag groups on Facebook - many are stating the bags just aren't worth the money any more. Hopefully you will get a good deal with the strong dollar, however. I've been seeing the same thing, complete with photos to show the differences. The second hand market for Chanel bags is really heating up as a result. nine - When you get closer to your trip, it can be worth reaching out to the shops you are interested in to set up appointments to look at purses. Having that appointment set up can make the whole process a lot less intimidating than just getting up the nerve to walk in off the street. It's pretty much a necessity to have an appointment at Goyard these days. I know they have appointments at Hermes and next time I go I may set one up. I'm not purse shopping though, I'm trying to corner the market downstairs in the scarf department! Also, do you know where you will be staying for your visit? samantha25 - I'm curious what year you visited Paris and had a bad experience? Sort of get the feeling it was many years ago. Paris can be a difficult city, but in years past it was much worse. The first time I visited 20+ years ago it was that way. When we moved there about 10 years ago things had changed quite a bit. They seemed to be more open to Americans and we found more people who spoke/understood English. There are so many intricacies to life there that the average American doesn't understand. Chanel quality has taken a nosedive at the same time that their prices have increased dramatically. My friend just paid over retail for a preloved Chanel, knowing that it’s so difficult to buy new these days due to lack of inventory. Have you been collecting Hermes scarves for long? I’ve been buying them for about 15 years. A scarf and a cashmere sweater has become my fall and winter uniform!

For me, it would be more meaningful to buy a bag in Paris than just order it up online because…it’s Paris. There will be memories associated with a significant purchase in Paris that will make it special. It’s springtime in Paris, you’re shopping with your husband, you can browse in the boutiques and pop into a cafe for a glass of wine. It’s a lot more memorable than whipping out to the mall to hit Neiman Marcus before you have to get the kids from school and start dinner! Yes, so true. Thank you for sharing. I didn't have a great experience in Paris, so maybe I'm tainted. Paris is unlike any other. It can be difficult!

So what is the experience of buying a purse in Paris vs. US or any where else? It's still the brand. What would be the experience in Paris? I could understand if someone has explored the world for a specific purse and have experienced the thrill at a specific place. Can you expand? For me, it would be more meaningful to buy a bag in Paris than just order it up online because…it’s Paris. If you shop in one of the brand boutiques or a high end department store, they are going to be authentic. Most of the imitations or fakes are sold on the streets or in markets. Maybe- but why can't you get that experience in the current market where you live? I would go for more of a dining, food experience in Paris. Customer service in Paris doesn't guarantee a great experience. I guess it does depend on their reputation and history of purchases. Fine dining in Paris doesn’t guarantee a great experience either 🤣🤣

Chanel has had major price increases that put them nearly on par with Hermes. Availability is an issue as well. I’d check out Goyard, Celine, Dior and YSL. Goyard doesn’t sell online in any capacity, so it might be fun to get a “hard to get” bag from them.
In the last several months, with the USD and the Euro nearly equivalent, luxury goods actually end up being less expensive in Europe. Of course, who knows what the exchange rate will be in April.

I got it about 2-3 weeks ago. It was fairly mild, but I’m still a bit congested and fatigued. It seems to be dragging on and on! Same! I had a very mild case but I'm still blowing my nose! Especially when I’m out in the cold walking the dog! I swear I have Kleenex in every pocket.

I always buy salted butter. If I bake with it, I will slightly adjust the amount of salt in the recipe. When we eat out, I love to get the unsalted butter with the flaky sea salt sprinkled on top.

It’s kind of a shit show here because we were supposed to be away, but due to weather cannot fly out. So we dragged out our tree, it’s lit but no ornaments 🤣 Today is our daughter’s birthday so we just had brunch and mimosas. Going out for dinner tonight. Ran around getting groceries etc yesterday to put together some kind of Christmas dinner. Need to wrap a few more gifts. Luckily we can laugh about it all.

Yes, Covid is kicking my ass. I thought at first it was going to be very mild but I feel like someone beat me up one side and down the other and my sinuses and throat are on fire, my head aches (though that's true every day so I probably shouldn't count that), still fighting fevers and chills when the Tylenol wears off. But, my breathing is ok so I'm sure I'll be fine eventually. I only get 5 days off officially but we'll see. I have to go back the 26th but just office time so I could skip it until the 28th. ETA the worst part is that I have 100 things to do here at home and I can't get any of them done, I'm too weak. Weak! Me! I'm not used to this! 🤒🤧😓 The sinus burning when my meds wear off is a new one to me! It’s awful. And our cold and flu medication aisle at the grocery store is decimated, there is literally nothing there. Luckily I think I have enough to get me over the worst.

This sounds delightful! I need to investigate. I’m recovering from Covid and those night time fever and chills are brutal. It's the worst. I hope you're better soon! Tylenol usually does nothing for me but for this, it's the only thing working on the fever and chills and body aches. I’m much better, thanks! Tylenol has really been helping me too. Feel better ☺️

Potato gratin is the only option with ham! Sautéed green beans, glazed carrots, and corn go well as far as veggies go.

Our flight out of YVR was cancelled (no surprise) so looks like we won’t be having a sunny California Christmas after all. Aww, sorry. That’s so disappointing. 🙁 Thanks, we will survive! We go regularly to the desert, so no huge deal, but I’m sad I won’t see my parents.
