I would absolutely hold her back - kindergarten and first are the best times to retain and it sounds like she would benefit from both social/emotional and academic points. There is something called Light's Retention Scale - it is a researched based method for determining how strong of a candidate a child is for retention. It's pretty much a survey - I'm sure you can find it online. You mark the characteristics of your child and there is a point system to see how effective retention may be. It was developed based on research of children who were retained, and the qualities that made for a successful retention.
Best of luck in your decision!

Is anyone watching? I'm trying to, but the broadcast has been really choppy/not good! Wondering if it's a CMT thing or a time warner thing. Also, do we really need to see the middle of Erin Andrews' bra? I think I'm getting old...

I am last-minute planning a girl's trip to DC for mid-June with a good friend from college. I have traveled a lot, she has not. I lived in Northern Virginia when I was in elementary school, but it's been a good 18 years :-). I'm thinking we'll probably do a hop-on/off bus tour, then one day of monuments and one day of the spy museum and newseum. Any suggestions of hotels to look into?

Ahhh... Last day of school was yesterday and my classroom is almost completely packed for the summer. I'm working on a few lists - books to read, crafts to do, places to go... What's on your list?
So far - some more exciting than others - - Take a craftsy class - Organize and purge scrapbooking stuff - Organize and purge teaching stuff - Organize files on my google drive - yikes!!! - A LOT of pool time - I'd love to take a day trip to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame - Possible quick jaunt to DC
What about you?

I've had a Flex for a few years now, and overall have been pleased with it. It died a slow death over the past two weeks, and a new one arrived through warranty replacement today. However, even before it died, I was thinking about upgrading to the Charge or Charge HR. It seems silly to not spend the extra $30 to have the heart rate component - if (big if) it's accurate/reliable. If you have one, do you like it? Find it reliable? Anything you don't like?
Thanks! Taylor

I went on a whim because I happened to be up early this morning... I got to the store around 7:50 and was probably about 40 people back in the line. I ended up with the giraffe shift a size larger than I would have liked, but it was the only one hanging there so I snagged it - even with $20 of alterations of an inch down each each seam, I'm considering it a bargain - two scarves, a phone case, and two beach towels. I would have loved to have gotten the navy and white print dress, but did end up with that print on the phone case and a scarf. All in all, I'd say it was a success for me - but I certainly didn't have my heart set on anything, and the crowd at my Target was at least pleasant!

Silent spring is a good suggestion! I had to read it in AP Lit in high school. What about something about body chemistry/the way the foods we eat impact our bodies? Maybe too biology-ish...

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean your son is only reading his second book of the year, or second book the same as the rest of the class? That majorly changes my answer :-)

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look for those UDI's brownie bites since they're already packaged, I hadn't thought about that. Saved me some time, too ;-)
Thanks!

Any suggestions? I could do a boxed mix or not... I have a few GF mixes, but they're all potential cross contaminated with nut products.
Thanks! Taylor

Anybody else sick of the Game of War ad on there? The blonde with the rather, um, perky chest? I'm considering paying the $2.99 just to not have to watch her and her assets bounce across the screen anymore!

Background: I have a cameo, but not much experience using it! I have cut large letters for my classroom, but never attempted anything with vinyl. I am eyeing this wall decal on etsy (I found it on pinterest). How time consuming of a project is it to do this myself? Also, can I buy colored vinyl anywhere? I would love to do it in a sky blue. If I do it myself I could change the font, which could be kind of fun. However, if this is a time-consuming project, I'll totally just order it :-). Here's what I'm talking about: www.etsy.com/listing/165716922/wake-run-lift-eat-sleep-repeat-wall?ref=market (Sorry, I'm on my phone and not sure how to make a clickable link!) Taylor

For a long time on the old board, there was an active WW group with a daily/weekly thread. Would anyone be interested in reviving this? I would be willing to post the threads and some discussion topics if so!
