Panic is never a good strategy. On the other hand, education and courage sometimes serve us well.

I don't like them either. Went to one as a young teen and got groped by one of the staff. Yuck! Never went to another one again.

Had a fall-themed baby shower for DD (does that count?).
Oh, and we made chili on Sunday.

Mine was a brand new 1979 Chevette (I know all of you are so jealous!).
I paid for it myself, and was all stressed out how I was going to make that $85 a month payment.

I haven't yet read replies (but I will), so my first thought is:
It was bound to make it here sooner or later. People travel, pick up things, and take it home with them.
Has nothing to do with government, terrorists, etc. It's a virus and they spread like crazy. Viruses are awful, tenacious things.
And as far as I know (and I could be wrong) there isn't a vaccine for it. So until one is developed and people get vaccinated, we have to figure out how to deal with it.

Or the one with the grandma smashing candies gleefully with a hammer while her brilliant grandson attempts to educate her. Yeah, I guess if you're female and old enough to be a grandparent, you must be extrememly stupid!

Why oh why?!
First that stupid shoe commercial and now the I Phone commmercial. Who thinks these up anyway? Some dude from the 50's?
I find them insulting and old school. Anybody else hate them?

I learned how painful it is to numb up your big toe. I learned that awhile back when I got "black toes" from poorly fitting hiking boots and had to get my big toenails removed. Right before she numbed my toe, my doctor said, " You're not going to like me very much", and she was right!

I feel sorry for my nice craft supplies because somebody talented didn't buy them and make something awesome.
Instead, they got scooped up by someone with more enthusiasm than talent and will forever be part of a mediocre creation or they will molder in the craft cupboard, never to see the light of day again.

I was at work in the medical records department of a hospital. When it happened I was up on the floors charting. In the stairwell on my way back to the department I ran into a nurse who was crying. I gave her a hug and asked her if I could help. She said, "A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center and it's burning." I thought she was talking nonsense until I got back to the office and my coworkers confirmed it. I just felt numb.
At the time we had an interim manager who was not a real people person, and very unpopular. I overheard her complaining to one of the supervisors that not much work was getting done that day. The supervisor just stared at her and said," Really?? I can't believe you just said that!" The rest of the day was a blur.

Cracker is a racial slur. It is as bad as the N word. A hateful thing. It has no place in civilized conversation. Yeah, I disagree that it's just as bad as the N word. The N word has a historical context that is not there for the term Cracker. But to the OP...sorry you were called a cracker. And I'm sick of B and Jay too.

Stores want you to wander a bit, just in case you stumble upon something you might buy on impulse.
I hate it. When I shop, I want to get to what I came in there for, and leave. I hate searching around for it!

I so agree with you.
DH was diagnosed with sleep apnea. At first he used his machine faithfully, and it made such a difference in how he felt.
He stopped using it because he got tired of having it adjusted, and now he is tired all the time and just feels rotten. I hate to think of how this is affecting his heart. There is a very strong history of heart disease in his family, and he has many other risk factors for heart disease (diabetes, overweight, etc.). I constantly worry that he will have a massive heart attack. Yet, he interprets my suggestions for getting things readjusted as nagging. It just tears me up. I just wish he would take care of it for the kids' and my sake.

My take on it is that he was telling you that there is nothing wrong with how you look (to him). I think he might have interpreted it as you wanted to give up sweets as an effort to lose weight and look super modelish. It seems to me as if he didn't understand it was about health, but about appearance.
So I would have interpreted it as "You look great; why are you trying to get skinny?"

Once "I" bought gas and groceries in North Carolina. I live in Michigan and have never been in NC (although I would love to visit some day). Not a lot of $$; whoever got my number must have been testing it out. Luckily I caught it and it all got resolved.

MY opinion: people want good healthcare but do not want to pay for it. They want the best doctors but do not want to pay for them. They want good insurance but do not want to pay for it. They say they want healthcare for everyone but they do not want to pay for it. Still my opinion: healthcare costs have spiraled out of control because of the insurance and pharmaceutical industries. I agree, especially with the part about the root cost of out of control health care costs. I think more than healthcare reform, we need insurance reform.

Living paycheck to paycheck means to me that if the next paycheck doesn't come, you have no means to meet your basic necessities.
Having savings that would tide you over does not fit that definition.
We lived that way for a few years due to unemployment and health problems. Not a good thing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who dreams about extra rooms.
Here's one interpretation that I found:
"To dream that you find or discover a new room suggests that you are developing new strengths and taking on new roles. You may be growing emotionally. Consider what you find in the discovered room as it may indicate repressed memories, fears, or rejected emotions. Alternatively, such rooms are symbolic of neglected skills or rejected potential."
Interesting.
