I agree! Our peas are so good about sharing their knowledge! And I want to give a huge shout out to a non-pea who has helped me a great deal as well. Heather Cox Richardson, professor of history at Boston College, and her almost daily Letters from An American, as well as her twice a week YouTube videos, have taught me a lot and helped keep me somewhat sane. Agreed!! I live for her nightly posts. They are so well written, documented (annotated), and spot on!

So when I am eating strict Whole30 I sleep like a baby. Out when my head hits the pillow till my alarm goes off. It's hard to stay strict, but the sleep factor is huge for me.

We love it! We are actually watching it right now with our kids. They are 9, 7, 4, and 2. Somehow this is their first time seeing it. It's dh's favorite!

yes, all 4, it also happens to be the same letter as dh's name and my name start with. We knew our first son would have my dh's grandfather's name. When our 1st was a girl we decided that her name should start with the same letter since we knew we wanted to have more kids. Second baby was a boy and was named for dh's grandfather, third baby was another boy and since the other two had the same we figured he should too, and then with number 4 there was no question. We all have different middle names so our monograms are different. Dh and fil have the same initials.

No term limits. First of all, I believe it would take a constitutional amendment. Second, I want to retain the right to send someone I like back to Congress for as many terms as they/I can stand. The fact that YOU don’t like MY representative is irrelevant. Even including goddamn Mitch McConnell. I don’t begrudge former presidents the cost of security and support staff for the rest of their lives. It’s an imperative in today’s world. But I have no intention of being ripped off by the grifter-in-chief, either. Limitations are fine. VOTING RIGHTS: for the love of God, pass a new John Lewis Voting Rights Act and make it Supreme-Court-proof. Make sure it includes rules not just to protect racial minorities, but political minorities, too. No more closing down poor people’s polling stations while leaving them open in wealthier neighborhoods. Stop demonizing early voting and vote-by-mail. Make voter intimidation a crime with real teeth. Do something once and for all about gerrymandering abuses. DARK MONEY: we need a constitutional amendment for this one. Hard, but we should at least try. Citizens United has done more to destroy this country than any other SC decision of the last decade (that I can think of ... someone will correct me, no doubt). EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT: revive it, call it the RBG ERA, and get it passed ASAP. It’s an embarrassment that we’re still fighting this battle. THEN I want to see a whole series of laws designed to prevent another unethical president from breaking down our norms and traditions the way this one has. Things that never needed legislating before clearly do now. Independent watchdogs in every department that aren’t beholden to the White House. Requirements that executive branch employees show up when subpoenaed, with criminal charges to follow if they don’t cooperate. Make it a crime to try to use the military, treasury department, justice department, or HHS as a political tool. Rules/laws to prevent a repeat of Mitch McConnell’s years-long, successful effort to pack the federal courts with often unqualified, far-right judges. (If the President makes an appointment, and the Senate Majority Leader cannot produce a truly legitimate reason to hold up the appointment, then after a certain number of days without a vote, the appointment is assumed to be approved. If 9 months is too close to an election in 2016, then 2 months is way.too.close in 2020.) After that, I’m happy to let nature take its course. I know we are localish to each other. I really hope that once this pandemic is under control I get to meet you in person. You always post the most thoughtful things and I always find myself nodding along with what you have written. Thank you for always having compassion, reason, and using facts to support your views. I think you are awesome!

We want to build out under our house, I guess it is like a walkout basement? We are built on a hillside and there are 2 floors that are wall framed out with foundation and dirt. We want to finish out a floor to add more space. The current office is now where dh is working full time and it is also where all our exercise stuff is. Before it wasn't a problem because he never worked in there, but now that he is working in there full time it would be nice for him to have his own space. Also, my sewing stuff is all in one of our bedrooms and our youngest is almost old enough that her being in the crib in our master closet isn't going to last that much longer. So we would be adding a workout room, a sewing/craft room, a media room, a mini-kitchen, wine cellar, a guest room, and some needed storage.

I'm seriously tempted to upgrade mine! I've had it since January 2019 and I have 650 rides on it. $700 toward the new one. It means I have only paid $1.84 a ride. If you decide to upgrade I would consider private selling- you could easily get More than $700. Yeah the more I thought about it what we would probably do it get the new one and take the old one up to dh's family's mountain house. Because I haven't wanted to go because I don't have a bike there.

We have gravity blankets. I have a 20lbs and a 25 lbs. They are the best things ever! We have had them since they did a kickstarter a number of years ago. I LOVE it. I just got my 9 year old the kid's one and she loves it too.

There’s a 45,000 acre fire outside Yosemite’s south entrance as well. The Ring camera on my place in Wawona shows it’s hazy and somewhat overcast too. Scary. So scary about the fire....but can I say I am so jealous that you have a place in Wawona! That is my dream. We usually go every year to Wawona for the 4th of July. After last year being disappointing (the new management company stinks) we hadn't booked for this year. And then they ended up not even being open because of Covid. It is my happy place. We had our rehearsal dinner at Wawona and got married at the Ahwahnee. I am really hoping that they get the fire under control. We always worry when it is burning near there!

I’m not sure if there is an all-electric AWD car, is there? We’ve had hybrids since 2003 and love them. Most of ours have been FWD, but I did have a hybrid Ford Escape with AWD. In addition to the RAV4, Toyota has a hybrid version of the Highlander in AWD Subaru has a hybrid version of their Crosstrek. Tesla's are all wheel drive! We have a model X and and model S. My X is all wheel drive! We have had them both since March 2016. They are fantastic cars! We bought my mil a model 3 - which they also have in all wheel drive. No complaints!!!

It is miserable! We got up to 107 and air quality with smoke over 150. I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life, it has never been this bad.

How cool. I will check it out. Glad you guys survived the fire. ugh Thank you! How are you guys doing? Is the smoke still bad up there? Today is miserable! We don't normally get that many hot days and we are at 106 with air quality over 150. Even if covid and fires hadn't happened I don't think we could have held the fair today! Too many of our volunteers, shoppers, and artists are on the older side and it wouldn't have been safe for them!

Do you have a virtual booth? I do not this year. I am just helping on the back end with the marketing, social media, and trying to get the word out. I have been doing a lot of shopping though! I love B2Glass, California Jade Carvings, Fritz and Mischell Jewelry, and Marna Schindler, to name a few!

Three weeks ago tonight, we had the largest lightning storm I've ever seen. I stood in our bathroom and watched as lighting strikes flickered across the sky for hours right over the forest that surrounds our house. I have never been more frightened. Two weeks ago, we sent the Suburban packed with art, photos, and other irreplaceable things down to my parents's house. We had our cars packed with suitcases, the kid's favorite stuffed animals, and important documents waiting for an evacuation notice resulting from the ensuing CZU fire. Last weekend, we finally got to relax and take a breath — although not of the outside air which only started to clear up in the last few days. It's been a surreal month in a surreal year. Today, my community is doing what it can to get back to a feeling of normalcy, launching our 57th annual Art Fair. The Art Fair was born from fire, the first one in 1963 raised the funds to help create a volunteer department after a local fire exposed the community's vulnerability. The Art Fair remains a primary funding source for our volunteer fire department and a key reason why any of us can continue to live in this beautiful area. Artists donate 15% of their sales back to the fair. The Kings Mountain Art Fair then uses those funds to fulfill grant requests from the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Department - like helping out with their purchase of a new fire truck, the Kings Mountain Elementary school - helping with funding for an additional teacher and support staff for the very small K-5 elementary school, and Venture Free - an outdoor based after school program on the elementary school campus. I have been involved in the Kings Mountain Art Fair since we moved to the area in 2007. Early on I had a booth in the Mountain Artist section selling everything from handmade cards (when my scrapbooking stuff was getting lots of use), tutus, hair bows, aprons, to lavender sachets. Then I transitioned to volunteering, first with the Information Center, then the Art Fair Board of Directors, and now my current role helping with social media and marketing. Thanks to Covid, we are going virtual this year. Every day of this Labor Day weekend from 10am to 4pm pacific time, anyone can interact with dozens of amazing artists (a heavily curated list every year), purchase great art and support our community. What we lose in homey mountain feeling, we hope to gain by reaching the global community. Please come join us in the virtual woods tomorrow and Monday. Go to kingsmountainartfair.org to sign up now. If your seat is still bothering you after a couple of weeks consider going to a bike store (if/when safe) and have them measure your sitz bones to make sure that the seat is the right size for you. I did 100 rides before I got measured and it made a huge difference in my comfort!
Do the beginning/welcome to peloton series. It will expose you to different instructors and help you with the basics.
Try all of the instructors, at least a couple of times each, they are all so different and what one person may love may not be your cup of tea.
If you are interested in really tracking and improving your endurance and strength I would highly recommend the discover your power zones program under the Programs tab. There is a group called The Power Zone Pack that works with the power zone instructors (Denis, Matt, CDE/Christine, and Olivia) to make 6-8 week challenges that are all Power zone rides. I have been doing the challenges since last fall and have seen huge improvements.
There are tons of FB groups find your tribe - kind of like here!
