We had a friend that had these beautiful antique looking cut glass bowls filled with candy for their favors. At the end of the night a bunch of people didn't take theirs, so we grabbed some extras. We have 6 (and we are now a family of 6) and 15 years later they are our favorite ice cream bowls.

beaglemom what shoes do you have? My feet are wide-ish and I hated the peloton shoes. Currently using Bontrager which is better... I got Torch 2.0 Road Shoes we stretched them too and they are working well. I got them at about 150 rides in because I was having some numbness and discomfort in my toes. They have worked really well!

I LOVE mine. Dh bought it for me in January 2019. I've done 638 rides. I have ridden 2611 miles so far this year. I had never ridden a spin bike or taken a spin class before we got it. I had done road biking but had never been interested. I have 4 kids (ages 2, 4, 7, 9), so being able to work out at home has been huge.
Personally I think the bike is worth the price tag. Yes it is totally doable with a less expensive one. The metrics and feedback on the actual bike are what makes it worth the price.
Peloton has also done an incredible job creating a social community around the bike. I am only on facebook still because of those groups. They have groups for everything you can imagine, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, mom's, triathletes, regional groups, nutrition, instructor specific groups, cocktails, book clubs, and on and on. I am a huge believer in the Power Zone Pack, which uses the power zone rides - coached by Denis, Matt, Olivia, and Christine and creates 6-8 week challenges to promote endurance and performance improvement. I have seen huge gains in my fitness and love it.
I have ridden every day (except father's day) since April 1. It has allowed me to remain sane with 4 kids and a husband working from home. I'm happy to answer any questions! Also if anyone needs it, any of us owners can give you a code for $100 off the accessory package!
Additional note!! I had to switch out my seat - I have wider sitz bones than the seat is meant for, I went to my local bike shop and had them measure my sitz bones and got a seat based on their recommendations - game changer for me. Also I have really wide feet, so I had to get different shoes.

We are in between one that is saying 428 and one that is saying 335. But that is much better than it was earlier today when it was in the 5-600 range.

I have lived in the Bay Area my entire life (except for college). I have never been this scared. We live right above where the Santa Cruz fire is, we'll be the next evacuation zone if the fire turns north. The storm was terrifying. There was a period of time when the strikes were happening every 10-15 seconds. I was just watching them out the window coming down behind the tree line. We moved all our irreplaceable down to my parent's house. Our go-bags are packed and ready. We are watching all the alerts carefully.
I just got an alert that there is possibly another monsoon storm (more lightning) coming Sunday-Tuesday. Hopefully, it will contain more rain and less lightning.

It's horrible here. The sky is the weirdest color I've ever seen and the smoke is so thick makes the sun look like a cherry sourball in the sky. We've been evacuated from our homes since late Tuesday night. I live in the redwood forest near Big basin and the fires seem to be everywhere and the fire fighters are having trouble keeping up. Containment is still at 0% for our area. We got out with pretty much ourselves, my SO's mom and her med supplies, the cats, and a few random things we grabbed in the panic of heading out the door. I'm seeing on Nextdoor that some people didn't even get their animals out which is heartbreaking. No concrete news on our neighborhood today, though it was still intact last I heard yesterday. They shut power off so the trail cameras people have set up aren't working anymore to give information. They keep enlarging the evacuation area because the fire keeps spreading. This is all so surreal. I've lived through the Loma Prieta earthquake, been in a tornado, survived countless western New York blizzards, hurricanes, etc, but they all come on fast and without much warning. This is a completely different level of fear. Stay safe fellow Californians and help each other out if you can. Hugs!!! We are just to the north of you. If it turns we'll be in the next evacuation zone. I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life and have never experienced something like this. It's heartbreaking on a whole new level.

We're a zone over from the current evacuation warnings in the San Mateo/Santa Cruz fires. I'm officially freaked out. The lightning the other night was terrifying. We live in the middle of a couple of the open space preserves and are surrounded by forest. I have never been so scared. If we get the warning we'll leave. We have go-bags packed and we'll head down to my parents. I keep telling myself that stuff is replaceable. But it's still hard. Stay safe everyone!!

We allowed our 9-year-old to go back to horseback riding. I only take her, she is in a mask except when she is on the horse in the outdoor arena. I watch with my mask on, 10+ feet away from others.
I have been using instacart and good eggs for most of our grocery shopping. I do run into our small local grocery store once a week or so, with a mask. They only allow 20 people in the store at a time.
We waited till June, but we are seeing the grandparents. Dh's parents come over every Sunday and we go for a hike with them. We all wear masks and hike from our house. We have had dinner outside with my parents a couple of times.
On Tuesday we got the phone call from hospice that my grandmother had taken a turn and didn't have long left. So I hopped in the car at 6pm with my parents and we drove from SF/Bay Area down to Santa Barbara. We stopped once to use the bathroom with N95's and gloves and hand sanitized as soon as we got back to the car. We arrived at 11:45pm. After a strict screening we were each allowed in one at a time for 15 minutes to say our good-byes. And then got back in the car and drove back home. We got the call in the middle of the night last night that she had passed. She was already declining, but while I recognize that it was totally warranted, I believe the isolation hastened her decline. I am so glad I got to see her one last time and got to say good-bye. But it was stressful.
I have 4 kids (ages 9, 7, 4, 2) I do not want them going back to school right now, I do not think it is safe for them or for their teachers. I will probably end up having to homeschool them, which I am totally okay with.

I’m doing week 3 of the Pelothon challenge. Work out 5 days of the week. I usually ride everyday but I’m going to add in some stretching and perhaps some yoga Me too! I just finished an 8 week Power Zone Challenge and was struggling with what to do next (well till the next challenge starts in 4 weeks). Matt Wilpers posted on his instagram that he is doing Training Camp for August (starting today) and has workout suggestions. My plan is to try to do everything he suggests over the next 4 weeks!

For the experience, Mi Casa and the Office are a lot of fun. If it is an adult trip or if the kids are older and foodies Flora Farms is lovely. We stay at one of the Pueblo Bonito resorts - they have 2 on the Sea of Cortez the Blanco and Rose and then on the Pacific coast side they have Sunset Beach (very family-friendly), The Pacifica (adults only), Monte Cristo estates (3-5 bedroom houses with their own small pools and hot tubs), and NOvaspania (larger 4 bedroom homes with large pools at each house and beautiful yards). If you are staying at one you get access to the pools and restaurants at all. I believe that you can come to the restaurants if you aren't staying there - our favorite is La Frida at Sunset Beach, adult only, best margaritas and food in Cabo.
Todos Santos is a fun day trip up the Pacific Coast to where Hotel California is located. Cute town!
San Jose del Cabo has an arts district and for parts of the year Thursday nights are a big open arts festival with booths, food, art, and fun.
We go for Christmas every other year, I haven't been any other time. We have lucked out with amazing whale watching a couple of times.
We are now a party of 18 when we go with a lot of kids. So our trips might be every different than what you are looking to plan. But if you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

I'm on team #breakthroughcrew. I finished week 1 today and nothing is showing up yet. Maybe they will do it late Sunday when the week ends? I'm team #breakthroughcrew too! It was an easy decision since I am finishing up the most recent power zone challenge and most of the rides are with Matt. I also love JSS. Badges should appear monday, week 2 you have to opt in under challenges.

We were really strict at the start. Then my mil was going insane being "locked up." Under the guise of wanting to see the kids, they asked to come to do a driveway visit, within 5 minutes she wanted to go hike - since we have access to private trails and at the time all public stuff was closed down. So they come over on Sundays and we go for a hike. She says a handful of words to the kids, but it is mainly about her getting her "exercise" in and her picture of the kids so she can post them on social media to pretend that she actually cares.
We didn't see my parents from less than 10 feet from March - June. At the end of June we started doing outside meals with them. They are being really careful and so are we.
I do walk for 2 hours on Sundays with 2 friends. We wear masks and where we hike the road is wide enough and there is no traffic so we walk with one person on either side of the road and one in the middle of the road.
I am doing all of our shopping and was doing it for my inlaws as well. But they decided a month or so ago that they are fine doing everything except Costco. This annoys me because I have been doing mainly instacart because I don't want to go to costco either and my mil is the stingiest person ever and never contributes toward the tip and she won't place her own instacart order.

I should add though that now I am sitting on thousands in Disney gift cards that I had bought to pay for our trip that didn't happen. So I guess at some point we'll do it again. Or maybe in a year or two we'll go to the Disney Hawaii resort.

Won't be going. We were supposed to go for Spring Break. It was scheduled for the last week of our annual pass. We will not be renewing. It was a one-time thing for us. We went April 2019, February 2020 (princess Run), and had planned for April 2020. I am all about the reservations. We had all the dining and fast passes I wanted and I was really excited. There was a bunch of stuff we didn't do in February because we planned on being back 6 weeks later. We will probably go in 3-4 years from now. Then our youngest will be 5ish and can do all day and we'll go spend 2 weeks between there and Universal. Hopefully, we will be safer then!

We did ours and turned them in before the date got changed. Dh does them on Turbo Tax. Thankfully after upping all our deductions we only owed about a 1/3 of what we did last year. Still a lot, but not nearly as painful.

I have a Covid closet in one of our guest rooms. I just buy an extra of something when I see it. My husband keeps trying to use the stuff in there. Men. I tell him we'll break out the TP when there is a vaccine. My kids were making fun of the 13.5 lb bag of baking soda (from Costco), I bought recently. If the world comes to an end, I will have clean bathroom sinks, tubs and sparkly clean kitchen sink... I bought it and the 2 pack of white vinegar and my kids are having a blast making water bottle rockets with them. Toilet paper seems to be in stock here. Rubbing alcohol is still next to impossible to find and I haven't seen cleaning wipes in stores, but my Amazon subscribe and save ones are back. But my baby wipes (1 child left in diapers) is out again, thankfully I have enough to last at least another month..

Peanut Butter on its own should be GF, if it's not then there has got to be all kinds of crazy in yours!
I have learned that in baking - ALWAYS - use the commercial (skippy is my brand of choice) peanut butter. The natural/organic versions separate and don't work well.

I would highly recommend reading the Whole30 book and doing a strict round of Whole30 for at least 30 days, if not longer. Then slowly do a strict reintroduction, see how your body reacts to different things.
I'm in my late 30's and after having baby #4 my weight was out of control. Almost 2 years after she was born I was 10 lbs heavier than when I delivered. I got my Peloton Januart 2019 and had been riding faithfully at least 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes and usually hitting over 15,000 steps. I wasn't losing weight, I was using chocolate to relieve my stress.
March 1 dh and I decided to do Whole30 (45) till Passover/Easter. I lost about 10lbs. We have been doing whole30/paleo since. We do 2 weeks on, 1 day off. For me, it usually just means dinner off with a little bit of chocolate throughout the day. I've learned that gluten aggravates my asthma, so if I am going to do any working out I need to do it before I have any gluten (hence usually just having some at dinner on my cheat day). Sugar and dairy can bother my stomach, to the point that as I am slowly gaining a better relationship with food I am doing a better job or really assessing if it is worth the discomfort to have something.
Starting April 1 I committed to myself to ride at least 30 minutes a day. Most days I am riding 45-90 minutes. I am doing a zoom Bootcamp workout with a friend M/W/F focusing on strength and core for 45 minutes. May 1 I added 10 minutes of upper body strength. I'm currently 3 weeks into an 8-week bike challenge. There are 4 45 minute, 1 60 or 90 minute, and 1 optional 30-minute ride assigned. So I am doing all those plus a couple of extras each week. We have been hiking 2-4 miles on Sundays with my inlaws and then I do another 3-5 with some friends.
I am down 25 from my highest in January. I still have another 50-60 to go, but I feel like this is sustainable. I really believe it is all about food. I think the exercise I am doing is just an added bonus helping to tone things up and to help me burn a little bit more. The great thing about whole30 is there is no counting, just things that are off-limits, and proportions to be aware of.

I think that if you are a sewer/sewist you see it as that. If you aren't you see it as the other. It never occurred to me that it would be able anything other than sewing/fabric - but 90% of what I look at on social media involves sewing or fabric.

We have been SIP since March 15th. I was the one doing all of the shopping for our house, my inlaws, and a couple of older/compromised neighbors. We have 4 kids (9, 7, 4, 2) they have been at home the whole time. Yesterday we went to school to pick up their things. There was a one-way path through the campus set up, boxes on the ground 6 feet apart for families to wait in, everyone was wearing masks, teachers were behind desks in their classroom doors. When they saw you they brought your bag up to the table and then stepped back. They also had dentist appointments on Monday, I would have canceled, but 2 of them had things I was concerned about and the dentist was super-efficient. They came out to the car and took everyone's temperature, everyone was wearing a mask, those working on teeth had face shields, the kids wore their masks till it was time for their teeth to be done and they went right back on as soon as they were done. My oldest did get to go back to horseback riding on Tuesday. Masks were required until they were in the outdoor arena, they had to tack and untack their horses, all equipment was being sanitized in between riders, hand washing and sanitizing stations were set up.
My mil has been over it for a while now. She retired a year ago and she is going insane being stuck in the house with my fil (who has been retired for 20+ years and rarely leaves the house). At first she pretended that she really missed our kids and wanted to come do a distance visit. But less than 5 minutes into the visit she said enough of this we are going for a hike. We have access to hiking from our road that was closed to the public, so the only way she could get to it was by coming to us. So they have been coming once a week to hike. They bring masks and put them on if they see anyone else on the trail. But we are far enough out that we have only been seeing one or two people when we are out.
Mil also had their masseuse come over, which I was appalled over. They have also started doing more of their grocery shopping. Which is fine, but if they are going to do that I would rather they just do all of it because I am over her passive aggressiveness when I don't/can't get to the store she wants right when she wants it. Dh is working from home and is super busy. So I either have to wait till he is done for the day to go shopping or try to get the younger 2 down for naps and then go and hope the older 2 don't destroy the house while I am gone.
My parents have been very careful (they are 10 years younger than my inlaws). My mom had to go back into the office at the beginning of the month. She goes M/W and every other F, she has her own office and doesn't leave it unless absolutely necessary and is wearing a mask when she isn't in there. She is desperate to go see my grandma, who is having a hard time with the isolation in her assisted living facility, but we don't know when that will happen.
My SILs in colorado seem to be over it. They also want my inlwas to drive out there to visit. They all also want us to commit to going to Cabo for Christmas, which I just think is crazy.

Finish line = 14 days with no new cases (my definition) I can't tell you who is out and about because we are still SIP. I'm past 70 and he is past 80. Grocery store, meal PU and very important items are all we are going out for. I don't know why, but I never thought you were past 70. I have this picture in my head of you being this 30 something hipster librarian. Doesn't really change anything - you're a hip 70-something librarian, but I read this post and thought "Oh, that's interesting!" Me too!!

I'm 99% sure that if Trump wins another term we will move out of the US next summer. Dh's company has offices all over the world and in theory, it shouldn't be too hard to transfer. California is home, both sets of grandparents are here, we were both born and raised here.
