Hugs, so sorry for your loss. What a blessing that she had everything planned out. We can't even get my inlaws to discuss anything about what they are going to need in the future. They seem convinced they will live forever.

Does anyone have a good Amazon vendor they can recommend? Or maybe Etsy? I placed an Amazon order for my mom back in April. The elastic was supposed to arrive yesterday. It was a no show. Amazon says that after June 9th I can ask for a refund if it doesn't show up. So, I started looking around and can't find any online from a US store. Joann's says it is not available for shipping and not available in my local stores. How much do you need and what width? I just got 100+ yards of 1/4 and I would be happy to send some to your mom.

I probably answered this the first time this thread came around...but I'll answer again.
NO.
My parents could live in a home on the same property. My mom is a very good cleaner and I have 4 kids, my house would never be clean enough for her and it would drive her nuts.
My in-laws NEVER EVER. I am doing all of their shopping right now since they are in their 70s. My mil is a condescending, judgemental, self-righteous pain in the rear. I could never ever live with them. Thankfully DH knows it and agrees. Also thankfully mil's plan is that fil will die and she will move a couple of states away to be with her favorite daughter who will take care of her. And it will destroy sil's marriage.

I have these specialized shoes.I was fine with the Peloton shoes till about 100 rides in and then started to have issues. Going wider made a huge difference. So did getting fit well. I had a local bike fitter come out and fit me. It made a HUGE difference in my comfort on the bike. I rode 408 miles last month, my most miles in a month to date. I got mine in January 2019 and I have done 516 rides. Totally addicting and worth every penny!! I had never taken a spin class before getting it, just some outdoor road biking. I love my Peloton!! #craftymomof4 How did you find someone to fit you on your bike? I'd love to do that. I'm not sure I have exactly the right position. I contacted my local bike store. Most bike stores have bike fitters for road bikes and mountain bikes. I asked and their guy also fits people on Pelotons. So he came out to our house and fit me - and fit me on my road bike again too. I would also suggest to everyone to go to a bike store and have your sitz bones measured to see what size seat you need. I changed my seat (to a less padded one than the standard Peloton one) and I am so much more comfortable with one that my sitz bones fit on than I was on the other one.

I only wear makeup a few times a year for special occasions. Me too. Maybe 3 times a year...maybe? Anniversary dinner, dh's company holiday party, and a fancy night out? Even then it is eye makeup and maybe lipstick - but the lipstick never lasts long and I don't usually reapply.

I think that they used to only allow 10 users, but now during the quarantine, they are allowing unlimited users. Once you are logged in on the bike as a user you will also get free app access as well. There are tons of great Peloton FB groups that are very supportive.

At this point, it is all getting donated. I just don't want to deal with the hassle. The nice kid stuff I am saving in case my sister ever has kids. Everything else is getting donated. Our babysitter's old church does a lot of immigrant outreach and has a "store" that families can shop at. She has come by twice and loaded her car to the top with boxes. I am just so ready for stuff to be gone.

I’m not sure it’s an appropriate expectation to want an 8 yr old to do his work on his own. When people ask this question in homeschool groups, the unanimous answer is parents sit with elementary kids while they work. I don’t expect him to do the entire day on his own, but if I could get him started on something and then be in the vicinity while he finishes so that I could answer questions, that would be fine. That is how it was for the most part (besides the hugs during the videos) in the beginning. Maybe in the beginning the concepts were things they had worked on at school and now it is new, especially math? But that doesn’t explain why he doesn’t want to watch other videos, read, write spelling words, etc. As of right now I do still sit with him but he is refusing to start or complete the work. Last night I tried to have dh work with him since he had refused all day, but that didn’t go well, either. Their day looks like this: Daily video from the teacher explaining what they will do that day and a question of the day to respond to. Reading (for today)-practice spelling words, watch a video about possessive nouns then do the accompanying worksheet; read a story from their anthology book; read 20 min; optional videos about being an astronaut. Writing—daily journal prompt Math—watch video and do worksheets; math facts practice Social/science—watch a video about seeds and how they travel; check in on the seeds the class is growing Specialists (music, reading and gym) all have activities to complete. Besides the videos, their work is all done on paper. This looks like what my 1st grader is having to do daily and it is killing me. I am a former elementary school teacher (k, 2, 4, and K-5 pull out). I adore his teacher. But I am so over this. Their big end of year project is a research paper on a rainforest animal. I am so over it. In theory we should be done in 2 hours max - which really is more time then he should be spending. But it is taking us 4-6+ hours to get stuff done. I have 3 other kids (3rd grader that is taking forever to finish her stuff too) and then the 2 littles that just want to play and a husband that is working 8-10 hours from home. My house is a disaster and I am so ready for school to be done. I know the teachers are doing their best, I know this sucks for everyone. But man I am so over it!! I think the lower grades are so hard because so much of the learning in the classroom is normally whole group. They are sitting and working together and learning together. That doesn't translate well to online learning. Hugs, I feel you and hopefully we will make it through the next couple of weeks without too much yelling!

So I'm using my peloton a lot. I set a goal for myself April 1 so ride every day in April, completed that, and did 377 miles. Then I decided to do the same for May, at 13 days in I am at 177 miles so far for the month. For May I added in a 10 min upper body toning/strength class daily as well. I am also doing 45-60 minutes of core and strength M, W, F with a personal trainer friend.
March 1 dh and I decided to start Whole30 again. We did it until Passover/Easter and then have done it since then except for Cinco de Mayo and Mother's day. The next planned day off is Memorial Day. So no gluten, no grains, no legums, no dairy, no sugar, and no alcohol. Which has been hard because normally I stress bake and I haven't been able to, because I know me and having stuff around is too tempting.
It is such a freaking slow process. I get very frustrated at times. But I am slowly seeing progress. I am down 15 lbs since Feb 1. But I realized that my body fat percentage went from 40% down to 27%. So things are happening, just not as quickly as I would like.
I still would like to lose at least another 60lbs. So I still have a long, long way to go.
I am not sure how it would work on the elliptical, but I would highly recommend checking out the power zone training program. I have seen huge progress since I started with it. Not in terms of weight, but in terms of strength and output.

A peloton and dh is building me a patio. How do you like the peleton? I never liked exercise bikes, but with all the controversy about their ad, I did some research and thought it sounds like a great way to exercise!
Your husband sounds very handy! My husband has been wanting a patio near our deck, and I wish I was handy and could build him one! Post a picture when he finishes. I hope it warms up so you can enjoy it (still "winter" here in southwest pa).
I'm obsessed with mine! I got mine January 2019 and I hit 489 rides tonight, 934 total workouts (yoga, meditation, strength, stretching, etc). I had never taken a spin class. It has been my sanity saver during this time. I have 4 kids, 2 elementary age that are schooling from home and 2 too little for school. It is hands down the best purchase we have made!

I've been using the Peleton app since December. I do the cycling workouts while on my elliptical and have also started doing some of the other workouts as well. When I started, I told myself that I would give it 6 months and then decide if I wanted to switch to a spin bike or keep the elliptical. I am really surprised that I have stuck with it. Like you, I don't like to sweat or work hard during workouts, but I am really enjoying the classes, the sense of community, and the instructors. I still can't decide if I should save for a bike or stick with the elliptical. beaglemom I am so impressed that you rode 300 rides in one month! How did you do that? I just made 100 last Saturday. I rarely do warm up or cool down rides, so I am typically just getting 1 in each day. I thought I was doing well but wow! You are impressive. My goal was to reach 100 before my birthday (May 16) and I reached it 3 weeks early. Sorry I may have miss written. I did 385 miles, 60 rides. But 32 of those were part of a challenge - Tour de Peloton. You do one ride from each of the 32 instructors, most have a 5 minute ride, but there are a couple that have 10 as their shortest and Christian Van de Velde's shortest is 30 minutes. My other 28 rides were mostly 45 or 60 minute. Congrats on 100 rides!!

I made the goal to ride every day in April and hit 385 miles for the month, which isn't as much as lots of people, but my best month before that was January with 300 rides. Find your "tribe" the new hashtags make finding people to ride with easier. There are tons of great facebook groups that are super supportive and run fun challenges and do group rides.

#craftymomof4 here! I love mine. I have had it since January 2019 and I had never taken a spin class before we got it (but had done some outdoor road biking). I hit 476 rides yesterday (900 workouts total). I am admittedly not a music person, so ride type or instructor dictated what classes I picked before last summer. Then I found Power Zone Training and I am addicted. I find it very interesting how everyone has very different tastes in instructors. With power zone I am mainly riding with Matt Wilpers. But I also like Denis, Christine, and Jen Sherman.

Yes!! I am used to having 2 kids at school and the 2 that are at home napping for at least an hour a day. So I have an hour to reset, get stuff done, etc. But now all 4 are home all day and I am trying to help facilitate school for the older two, keeping the younger two entertained and away from the working two, cooking 3 meals a day, keeping the kids from bothering DH who is working from home. And grocery shopping for our house, my inlaws (who won't just give me a damn list, but ask constantly what store I am going to, even though I have told them numerous times to just tell me what they want from where), 3 older couples on our road, and another friend of my inlaws.
I'm also overwhelmed by the not knowing. There is a part of me that is not minding all of this. Not rushing around, spending lots of time together as a family, more cooking together. But I would like to know a date. I'm okay with it being 12 months, but I just want to know.
Hugs to you!!

I'm not sure what I am. I am spending way too much time on social media, I think because I miss people. But at the same time, I love that we don't have to leave the house. I like having connections with people. But I really don't miss all the driving around and activities that come with 4 kids. I haven't quite figured out my balance yet.
I LOVE having DH working from home. I get kisses throughout the day. I enjoy (most days) getting to make him breakfast and lunch. He is helping with dinner way more than normal. The kids love having him here, we get him an extra hour or two a day since he isn't commuting. He just walks out of his office and is ready to help cook or play video games with the kids. It is going to be a hard adjustment for all of us when he has to go back into the office again. My youngest two (2 and 4) will miss him the most. They love that he will come kiss them before nap and give them a quick snuggle.

So dh and his sisters just realized that their parent's 50th anniversary is on the 12th and they have done nothing.
We are the only ones that are local and have the ability to get anything to them for it.
We are doing an online family dinner either Saturday or Sunday and the thought is that we will "surprise" them with a virtual anniversary celebration then.
Any and all suggestions on how to make this special for them would be greatly appreciated.

We're hosting. Dh is going to figure out how to live stream it for my inlaws and my sil's. I'm doing a porch delivery of Matzoh ball soup and brisket to my inlaws. My mil will make the charoset.
My sil threw in that we should also turn it into a surprise 50th-anniversary celebration for my inlaws. Since their anniversary is on the 12th and no one has done anything about it. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Our state is expected to peak around May 1, with the next state over set for late May. I'm on the board of a major local festival that takes place over Labor Day weekend, and we are guardedly optimistic that we'll be able to carry on. If I had to guess at the earliest things will be back to approximating normal, I'd say mid August. I think expecting anything normal - no restrictions on eating out or gatherings - before July 20th or so would be WILDLY optimistic. I hope I'm wrong. Me too. We are a local art Festival that funds the Volunteer Fire department in a fire region in California. We are also Labor Day. Thankfully most of the expenses happen in the last month before the fair and we have a good endowment that we could skip a year if we have to and still fund things. But more than that we won't be able to.

In the Bay Area as well. I am the only one that has been leaving the house. I am trying to minimize my errands. I am shopping for our family of 6, my inlaws, and 2 sets of my inlaw's friends.
I go to the grocery stores, drop off and go home.
They are being stupid!

We are in Silicon Valley in California. Our last in class day was March 12th. The first date given was March 30th, then April 14th (returning after Spring Break), now it is May 4th.
I don't think we will go back this school year.
My 3rd grader has an hour or so of stuff to do every day.
My 1st grader has 4-6 hours.
I am a former teacher and it's killing me. I know everything the 1st grader has is good stuff and he is learning and I am super supportive of all the work his teacher is doing and trying to maintain normalacy for the kids. But it is taking all day to get stuff done and his sister is done and doing other stuff.
I am going to email my oldest's teacher to ask for more for her to do, mostly to help keep me sane, since I have the 2 little ones that I am also trying to entertain and keep quiet while dh is working from home. It's been cold (for CA this time of year) and while they are getting outside some I am looking forward to it being warmer so they can spend a lot of time outside.

This has been a week of birthdays in our house. Our youngest turned 2 on the 17th, my oldest turned 9 on the 23rd, and the second middle child turned 4 today.
The 2-year-old doesn't understand/know any different.
The 9-year-old was bummed. They are in their second week of distance learning with lots of online time a day. Her teacher never acknowledged her birthday, none of her friends did either. I didn't realize that I should have reached out to all of their moms to ask them to have their daughter's reach out since she knows when her friend's birthdays are and is already planning stuff for them. I blew up a bunch of balloons after she went to bed and snuck them into her room and decorated her door with streamers. I felt bad, her presents were things that I could get my hands, so mostly lego sets. She was okay with it, but I feel bad for her. She got to pick what to eat all 3 meals and got good facetime with her cousins and grandparents.
The 4-year-old keeps asking when he gets to celebrate with his friends. He has never had a friend party before and this was supposed to be the first and he was/is so excited. We did the balloons and streamers for him as well. He got to pick what to eat all 3 meals and got good facetime with the cousins and grandparents. So now I really want to plan an epic party for him, but don't know when that can happen.
Our county board of education announced we will not go back till May 4th at the earliest. I really doubt we will go back this school year.

My dh and I were already on a Whole30 round when this all started and we are very glad we have kept it up. I LOVE to bake, especially when I am stressed. But when I am doing Whole30 I avoid making as much as possible because I don't want the temptation around. We have had 3 birthdays in the last week (17th, 23rd, and today) and I feel sort of bad for my kids - I bought them store-bought treats, which I have never done because I always bake from scratch what they want. I'm down about 10 pounds from the beginning of the month. I have a lot more to lose.
Our plan is to Whole30 till Easter weekend, indulge then and then go right back on. Easter would have us at 45 days.
I'm also riding my Peloton and we have gotten the older 2 kids doing 50 min of strength/stretching a couple of days a week.
Fingers crossed I get to walk out of this at least 20 lbs lighter!
