I love this one with casual summer tops. I was shocked at how supportive it actually is for what it is. That said, I wouldn’t wear it with a look that needed everything hoisted as high as possible. a.co/d/4puzh8sMy other strapless is the Wacoal Red Carpet. That one is for more formal or dressy looks. It’s not as comfortable as the first one, but it’s the most comfortable structured strapless I’ve tried. a.co/d/8KpN6nD

I hope he wins and wins big. People who believe anything Kamala has to say are crazy. If you want to keep your money and be able to have your investments grow you best vote for Trump or don't whine about being poor. If Trump wins and implements his across the board tariffs, there will be economic hardships for everyone, and not just in the US. My investments will not keep growing. For one, prices will rise on just about everything. Second, it will take years for American manufacturers to get up to speed to produce what is now being imported. And say goodbye to coffee and bananas. Third, lot of American corporations are global enterprises. They will not be able to export goods because other countries will put retaliatory tariffs on American goods. Oh, and where will the labor force for all these new American manufacturing jobs come from? Don’t go using reason and common sense now.

FYI, I happened to be looking around on Poshmark and there are lots of Blundstone boots there, NIB, for significant discounts.

I've read that honey that doesn't crystallize is usually mixed with syrup or otherwise adulterated. So there's that.
I love those boots, but can't really justify the expense in a climate where I'd only wear them a couple of months out of the year (and then only sporadically).

We had a protein bar each for dinner last night. Try not to be jelly! 😂 We’re empty nesters, and I teach lessons from 4-7 Monday through Thursday, so dinner is often something DH can manage. HEB has meals ready to cook that are simple and healthy - we usually choose salmon and a vegetable or chicken and a vegetable. We probably have those twice a week on average. They just pop in the oven. Other days, I might make something I can cook in the afternoon and reheat for dinner after I’m done teaching - soup or a stir fry works well. Or I might pre make a salad. So there aren’t really a consistent three days I can point to, but it’s all pretty low key these days. ETA: OK now I have my groceries here, so I've planned this for the next three days. Tonight - Crispy sheet pan black bean tacos, carrot and celery sticks with salsa ranch. Tomorrow - Sheet pan Italian meatballs like this www.themediterraneandish.com/baked-meatballs-recipe/#wprm-recipe-container-42746 except that I'm using frozen meatballs and then following the rest of the recipe as written. Probably a salad to go with. Monday - Protein bowls from HEB with southwest chicken and vegetables. Typical breakfasts - DH usually eats toast with peanut butter and some fruit. I often skip breakfast and just have a cup of tea, but if I eat it, I like greek yogurt with fruit and granola. Typical lunches - DH often makes a turkey sandwich or will eat leftovers from dinner. I will also eat leftovers, or will just grab a protein bar or put one of those little tuna packs on some salad.

Trump will never willingly give up power or the chance of power. I think he'll lose, but if he wins then I imagine the Republicans will either let him stumble on as a puppet president, or they'll 25th amendment him and we get Vance. I think the latter is unlikely as the RNC and its purse strings are basically controlled by the Trump family now.

I’ll be turning 52 in a month. My body is a riddle of medical issues, a couple of which may seem incompatible with heavy lifting. I’ve been a weight user since middle school but stayed mostly 15 pounds and under. Then I broke my ankle pretty badly 2 years ago and vowed I’d never feel that helpless again. I lift weights 3-5 times a week, depends on what I’m working on. I cycle thru doing cable machine, kettle bell and dumbbells rotations. I worked really hard thru the summer to break a couple plateaus. I’m lifting the heaviest I’ve ever been able to, had a giant thrill when I broke thru 40 pounds with bicep curls. I’ll second getting some professional training to learn proper techniques. Not just to stave off injury but to get the most benefit from the work you put in. Being able to do intensive physical things despite all my medical conditions spurs me on. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my 30’s along with Rheumatoid Arthritis so I’m determined to do what I can to keep moving and strong. I encourage all woman to lift and/or body weight. I do various forms of cardio 5-6 days a week but nothing gets my endorphins going like weight lifting Inspiring! TFS!

I lift what I guess is considered heavy. I do try to go to failure and I do look to continually increase how much weight I'm lifting. Our DDs wedding was this past Friday and with that and having the house in an upheaval because of new carpet, etc. I haven't lifted in a month- until last night. I've missed it and really do enjoy challenging myself to see what I can do. I have a saying up in my workout room that is "be obsessed with your potential". Ooh, I love that!

Whether you believe abortion should be a thing or not, this part of their filing should outrage everybody: I thought teen births were a bad thing all around? This is absolutely infuriating. It was always all about the domestic supply of [healthy, white] infants for Christian couples to adopt. Pre-Roe, teenage mothers were the primary suppliers. Out of my 37 first cousins on my mom's side, six were easily adopted in the 50s and 60s from agencies that took in "wayward girls." That doesn't exist any more because it doesn't need to and shouldn't have to. The idea that women and teens exist to bolster population numbers at the expense of their own bodily autonomy is, indeed, outrageous. We have millions of people from other countries clamoring to come here and work and have a part of the American dream that our ancestors immigrated here for 100 or more years ago. A robust guest worker program with a path to citizenship would solve any and all population concerns (and would reduce exploitation of immigrant workers in the bargain), but there's a problem with that according to the right ... they're not white. And, of course, they're supposedly all murderers and rapists, but why let facts get in the way of a good scaremongering narrative.

I don’t lift particularly heavy but weights/strength training and protein consumption are key for women 50+. Yes, I’ve been focusing heavily on protein as I ramp up my weights. Not my favorite macro as I find it difficult to get enough without eating a lot of animal product, and I’m not a fan of protein powder generally.

Thanks all - “heavy” is going to vary by person but generally seems to mean that you should be lifting to muscle failure within fewer than ten reps. So if you put the weight down and feel like you could immediately do another set, that’s not heavy enough.
I am trying to get an appointment with a trainer at my gym to get a routine established and double check my form.

I've rekindled my gym habit in the last few months. The difference between now and previous times in my life is that I'm over 50 and approaching menopause. I've read in various places that lifting "heavy" is ideal for women my age. This article outlines the benefits: www.feistymenopause.com/blog/liftheavyweights. So is anyone here lifting heavy? Are you seeing the results you want?

Maybe change your focus from talking less to listening more?
IDK, I tend to be the opposite, and have to force myself to talk in many situations. I think you'll find that many people enjoy having a friend who carries the bulk of the conversation, as long as said friend isn't interrupting them when they do talk.

I am also a fan of online retail therapy, but I'm really trying to curb that impulse as having too much stuff in our house - including my clothes and shoes - is also stressing me out.
A small new packet of flavored tea or an audiobook will sometimes do the trick, without adding to the clutter.

We've been instructed as faculty not to use the AI detectors (or, at least, not to accuse students based on the AI detectors, you can obviously do what you want) because they generate a lot of false positives. We're asked instead to design assignments that either make sensible use of the possibility people will use AI or are constructed in ways where AI won't help or can't be accessed. So once again, teachers are being asked to solve a societal problem created by someone else. Nice.

Public manners aside, to me, basic courtesy between spouses requires us to be supportive of each other with things that we actually want to do. It didn't strike me that WCD's husband was particularly interested in voting, so why would she waste mental bandwidth making sure he could/did?
A better example to me would be - for DH and I, who share a car - for me to share that I plan to vote on X day and DH's making the effort not to schedule something for work that requires the car at that day/time. He will do that even though he may not agree with who I'm voting for. That's basic courtesy.

I had one where I waited well over an hour in a freezing cold room in nothing but a paper gown and underwear. I didn't go back there. If you as a physician can't be bothered to see that your office has basic time management skills and respects patients' time, how can I trust you to thoughtfully manage my healthcare?

Even if you can't pay online through the internet company's website, you should be able to use your own bank's online bill pay to set up a recurring payment to be sent on a certain date.

In my syllabus, I add that use if Ai is cheating and will be scored a zero. Using Ai and turning it in ad your own without citing it, is plagiarism and we are currently struggling with the debate of how to use it as a tool vs outright cheating. It sounds like the school offered an alternative and the student didnt want to take it. I'm actually going to have this conversation with a student tomorrow. These parents suck. My daughter teaches HS English. The parents are relentless when she gives no credit for AI written papers. So far her principal deals with it after the parents get nasty. I’m not sure if she puts that wording in her syllabus. Nothing new in parents making excuses for a kid who cheats. My first year of teaching was a in a small town in 1996. I taught a section of music history (high school) and assigned a short research paper at the end. Small town, small library, internet in its infancy. So when a kid turned in a paper that was clearly plagiarized, it was super simple for me to find the book he'd copied it from in the library. I failed him on the paper and stapled a copy of the plagiarized pages to his work. The next day, the principal called me in and said the parents had called him. He wanted me to change the grade and give him credit for "trying." The parents were freaking out that their kid wouldn't graduate on time if he failed my course, and of course the parents had some power in the politics of this small town. I was already on my way out the door in part due to the nasty attitudes of the parents in that town, so I told the principal to do whatever he wanted with the grade. AI is a new spin on the ways that kids try to get out of doing work, but sadly, entitled parents are nothing new.

I guess we can be grateful that Trump has no control over any actual military group at the moment. But Republican governors can certainly call up the National Guard at his bidding, and of course there are various right-wing "militia" groups ready to start an armed conflict if Trump says the word.
Republicans will, of course, make the argument that Democrats have been using government "retribution" towards Trump all this time, in holding him accountable for his crimes. In their minds, if their guy committed crimes, the other side must be committing them too and thus they deserve the retribution. It's all projection.
My faith in my fellow Americans is at an all time low.

Oddly, there are AI-driven tools that teachers can use to determine whether the paper was written by AI.
But often a teacher can just tell. AI writing is often described as stilted. The paper may use vocabulary the student is unlikely to know, or turns of phrase that aren't typical for the age group.
Our state-appointed superintendent is having the curriculum department create many district learning materials using AI-generated passages and poems, and it's very obvious and awful.

TBH, the only non-Mac laptops that operate as well as a Mac and last as long are those that cost as much as a Mac. So if cost is your driver, you might want to consider that.
If you just prefer the Windows platform, I'd starting looking around the $1200 range in laptops for the best quality.

Insane. Those parents are doing the kid no favors. The elite schools he hopes to attend won't accept his AI-written papers, either.

I recently started using Gold Bond Crepe Corrector a couple of months ago, got it on Amazon. It has 34K reviews but I'm not sure if it's done anything about mine yet. I was going to recommend this. It's inexpensive and does the job. I agree with keeping bottles around the house. That helps me remember it.

Yep. This was my brother in 2020. "What are you going to do when Trump is elected and the world doesn't end?" "He just says that stuff. He doesn't mean it."
Fortunately, January 6th and some other things (he lives in Georgia) caused him to re-examine his views. I doubt he'll vote for Harris but at least he won't vote for Trump.
ETA: my brother is definitely among the socioeconomic class that likes their Trump tax cuts. I've tried appealing to him on behalf of his four nieces without much result. As he and his wife have remained childless by choice, I hope that JD Vance's rhetoric about childless women and people is a big turnoff for them, though.
