You can't take the monorail to the Boardwalk - other than that, sounds like an awesome day!!

We love eating dinner at both 'Ohana (Polynesian resort) and Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge). You can watch Wishes from the beach at thePoly after dinner, or at least you could before the construction. If you can't watch there then watch from the TTC dock. It's a great view, not crowded at all and they pipe in the music.
You can also stroll along the Boardwalk at theBoardwalk resort. Entertainers (magicians etc.) come out starting around 5 pm and they are fabulous!

I'm surprised to see so many say they have nothing personal on their work computers. Nothing? Really?
I don't have anything on my work computer that I would be devastated to lose. And I wouldn't expect to be allowed access to it again, were I to be let go. However, there are a few personal photos that people have sent me. There are drafts of my resume; I have worked at the same company for 18 years and have moved around the company during that time. There is nothing damning, illegal, or that I would be embarrassed to let my boss see; but there are certainly a few personal things.

Oh wow... I just read the carpool thread. Is that what started this? Because in that case I would have no problem saying EXACTLY why I wouldn't be carpooling anymore!
Guess I have a little backbone in me after all!

Because it bears the potential to lead to confrontation. Which I avoid at all costs.
Not saying it's the right thing to do... It's just the way I'm wired!

Vote for Chatham Memorial Arena!
My little community is a finalist in the Kraft Hockeyville 2015 contest. Winning would mean $100,000 worth of upgrades to our local arena, which is woefully out of date, and an NHL pre-season game here in town! I would so appreciate any votes you might be able to spare, as would my 9 year old DS, who plays in that arena twice a week. Thank you!

We always do the week before Labour Day and love it then. Crowd calendars are around a 5 out of 10. Yes it's hot, but there is air conditioning and swimming pools, and I'm in a tank top, so who cares?
Your baby won't remember it, but you will. Parents shouldn't have to put vacationing on hold until their kids are old enough to remember it. Disney is a very family friendly destination even for very young kids.

Ok, so it's not actually scrapbooking, but I love it when the terminally ill Susan Sarandon makes her kids the photo quilt in Stepmom. I cry like a baby at that part. I am thinking of trying to make one for my mom's milestone birthday next year.

It's totally the couple getting married's prerogative to pick a date that suits them.
That being said, I find it odd that they wouldn't make some effort to pick a date suitable for their immediate families. You'll never please everyone, but in this case it sounds like they didn't try to please… anyone. If it were me, and I couldn't make the date work for everyone, I'd go ahead with what worked for me and my fiancé. But I would at least run it past my parents and sisters first.

My Dad was born in 1905, so would have been 110 this year. Sadly, he died young - at 62. I have to admit that I was so relieved when I [and then my younger brother] turned 63! It was sort of a superstitious thing, but I just couldn't help it. Must be the Irish in me! I remember the year my dad turned 58. On Christmas Day he took my older sister and I into his home office and laid out his funeral plans, where the safety deposit box key was, finances, etc. His father had died at that age and he clearly thought he would follow in his footsteps. I am happy to say that my dad will turn 70 next week.

Final bill, taxes and antibiotics and painkillers in, $1886. Gah! This kitty had better live a long and prosperous life! She is soooo snuggly now that she is home. I think she knows we did her a solid.

The cat is out of surgery. I had a voice mail from the vet saying it was a very long piece of string so the surgery was not as quick as he'd hoped, but not as bad as the worse case scenario we had discussed. He inititally quoted me $1000-$2000. I'm hoping we come in at $1500. Of course, that's in addition to the $500+ we already spent on xrays, blood work, drugs etc. before we confirmed that the string was the problem.

I despise springing forward. Like, loathe and despise it. I'm an early riser and I hate that it's getting dark in the morning again.
Also, it's the same number of hours of daylight no matter when they fall. People who gleefully claim that we're getting more daylight are just... wrong.

I go to Planet Fitness. The first Monday of the month is pizza night, and the first Tuesday morning is bagels. Guess what? You don't have to eat them. Ok, I do find one aspect of it odd then. If they have two food days per month, why put them back to back like that? (Maybe they want to get the carbs all over and done with in one fell swoop? )

I actually see this as a good thing. I think it encourages a healthy lifestyle. There are lots of people who go out for pizza with their friends or family at night. I think the gym is trying to offer up some incentive to people - you can still have your pizza, but you can fit in a workout at the same time, too. It's like my cycling club. We go out for long rides on Sunday morning and stop at a diner at the halfway point for breakfast. When you start to mix social outings (that involve food) with physical activity, I think it's more enjoyable for people, and more sustainable overall.

...what happened?
Long story, but to put it as briefly as possible: last Sunday night, I moved my sewing to another location, and when I came home Monday it looked like our cats had been into it.
I also found several puddles of cat vomit (just bile, really) around the house. Witnessed our cat Lucy vomiting and knew it was her. I suspected she may have swallowed some thread clippings from the floor.
Tuesday, more vomit, and still not eating.
Wednesday, took her to the vet, who didn't think she had anything in her belly as she was still a happy cat. Ran some bloodwork and gave us anti-nausea meds, sent us home. No more vomit.
Thursday, I woke up to find Lucy hiding in the basement, drooling profusely. Back to the vet who now deems her to be constipated. She has an x ray taken which does not show anything foreign in her, and is given an enema, and the look of relief on her face is hysterical. At least the diagnosis was correct. We're sent home with laxatives.
All weekend, she is much happier, but still not eating anything. She is drinking, though.
Yesterday I was back at the vet's again for an appetite stimulant drug. I gave her the first dose last night. Still not eating anything, but now she is like a cat on hyperdrive. She's wired.
This morning, the damn cat still has not eaten a single bite of food. But lo and behold, I discover about 3" of thread sticking out of her backside. Clearly the little bugger did eat some after all. Not sure if it should have shown on the x ray or not. I mean, it's thread, not a tennis ball. I've heard it's dangerous to pull on things sticking out of cat butts, so I just clipped it off. I will leave it for the vet to deal with, because I already have an appointment to take her back in this afternoon - the vet says she will need to be force fed if she has not eaten anything on her own by then (which I am pretty sure she won't).
Anyway. Just wondering... for those who have cats that have ingested foreign bodies... what did they eat, and what was the outcome? i.e. did it work its own way out, or did you have to go in after it?

I smoked probably half a dozen cigarettes in high school. To be cool, and because everyone else was doing it. I never did like it and eventually stopped.
Today, I am so so thankful that I quit before I got hooked on it.

I usually buy 1-2 a year on clearance and use them the following year. Lands End is my favourite. I also buy Speedo performance suits to swim through the winter with my master's team.
It makes me sad when people think they can't wear a swim suit, or a particular kind of suit. The beach is one place where everyone should be able to feel the sun and water on their skin free of judgment. It shouldn't be about flattery or appropriateness. If you are fat... We know that you are fat, whether you are in a two piece or one piece or shorts or whatever. Don't worry about what you look like. Worry about how you feel.

I probably wouldn't, unless it were a big ticket item. How big? Depends on how far out of my way it would be to make the return.
I find the comparisons between this and shoplifting to be a stretch. I could 'live with myself' for keeping a small item I got in error without considering myself a shoplifter.

On the bright side, we have fewer hormones etc. in our milk and meat… so we pay more, but (IMHO) it's higher quality. lol, they do sell organic and almost organic in the states Of course they do, I just meant that it's not the standard grocery store meat counter fare.

I've been tracking since Jan 1 because it's obscenely high. Yes, my hunch was correct! About $250/week for 2 adults/2 kids. Pet food is separate and I'd guess that this includes half our expenses for toilet paper, dish detergent etc. I'm in Canada - wonder if that makes a difference? I'm also in Canada and it definitely makes a difference When we are in Washington state in the summer we always stock up on things like cheese because it is sooooo much cheaper On the bright side, we have fewer hormones etc. in our milk and meat… so we pay more, but (IMHO) it's higher quality.

Where is Adam Sandler or any mention of him? I think he's supposed to be on. I don't see Dennis Miller or Joe Piscipo in the line up. Or Rob Schneider. It's weird, like some of the big stars are no longer affiliated or something.

Grilled beef tenderloin and coconut shrimp for an appetizer - they are finicky but DH loves them and it's been a few years since I made them last. Then roasted potatoes and kale salad for sides, and heart shaped rice krispie treats for dessert.
