yes and yes
the make and takes are often cards, but different vendors show techniques. Especially loved Mon Ami Gabby's pull ribbons, and can always count on a lesson on color blending with the Spectrum Noir markers.

Dh calls all our animals 'rathumpers', well except his horse..he calls her 'beauty', I call her 'diva'
My kids named one of their cats "Nubz"...i guess that is a term used in the Marine Corps for a 'wannabe'(this is what I found in the Urban Dictionary...1. People, who despite any amount of time or effort in doing something/completing a task, fail miserably.) He is called 'chubby nubz'
My son in law calls my cats "Captain Wigglesworth' and 'Fatty McFatston' interchangeably.

I remember a lot of canned veggies growing up, even canned asparagus - and unless it is part of a casserole, we don't do canned veggies.. or frozen, we do fresh
also my mom used to put salt on fruit...I don't add salt to anything on my plate
I also remember eggs fried in the bacon grease - ick!
but I sure wish I could make her lasagna, chicken and dumplings, sugar cookies and homemade eggrolls!

Thanks for this thread, I'm thinking we all need some good news these days....
My dd and son in law, who have been trying for almost a couple of years are now 13 weeks pregnant (though she is not 'announcing' till next week) (so don't tell I told)
Funny thing, @6 months ago, son in law came to me, frustrated and said "We've been trying for almost 2 years now...why isn't it working" I told him that back in my day (late 70's) it was believed that 'tighty whities' killed the sperm and that "I knew I was in 'trouble' when (my) dh disrobed and had no underwear"...anyways, son in law thought that was the 'most ridiculous thing' he had ever heard...but decided it couldn't hurt and stopped wearing underwear. A couple months later....woohoo!!

DD is in HR also, she has been known to throw in a nonsensical question, especially for customer service positions, just to see how the interviewee handles a question that does not make sense. Because you know customer service gets them!

Clear stamps also. Have some in Sterilite drawers, by category ; some in binders, by manufacturer; one binder of itty bitty stamps; and some in baskets on my counter..most recent purchases and favorites.

our Winston's nicknames are "Kracken" and "Tyranasaurus Rex". To take him to the vet I have to take him for 'happy visits', they let him explore the offices while they are closed for lunch...before they can do any poking and examining. And that has to be split into a couple of visits
When I work out to the Wii, he attacks my feet. When I take a shower, he is 'peeking' at me from the bathtub in the attack position, and has been known to chase me to my bed. oh, and don't let your hands and feet hang off the bed! ...but never does these things to dh. DH calls him his 'trained attack cat'.
DH rescued him from a litter of barn cats when he was about a month old, it was a super hot summer, mom was failing and a sibling had already passed.
I do love the li'l stinker, when he is not in one of his moods, he is a LOVE, and actually a very good companion. (and thankfully no peeing issues) (that is him in my avatar when we first got him, now he is 18 lbs of trouble)

Bury Me Standing by Isabel Fonseca...actually could not finish it, it was so disturbing to me.
recently, Reforming Your Life by Candace Cameron Bure...helped me to put my eating/weight issues into a whole new light.

I am very organized with my job and do it well and in a timely manner. My boss asked me to help out another employee who is behind, 'whenever I have the bandwidth"...but she is behind because she spends most of her day 'gossiping' from one cube and office to another. I am NOT inclined to helping her catch up.

Singers who sing 'choo' instead of 'you'. Was listening to Michael Buble's, Haven't met you yet...and it sounds like metchoo yet. Love him, but hearing that just irritates the heck out of me.

DD and I made it through 2 episodes and decided to take it off the dvr schedule. For all the reasons above, just not worth the time.

I also like to get the 4 piece set at Macy's or Kohls...it seems the cups are a different size between the two stores, one has a mug, the other more of a teacup. I also buy salad plates. Our family tends to use them even more than dinner plates.
I have so many colors...could not list. (Gotta check out Poppy) Opening my cabinet makes me happy, happy, happy
Funny, my dd (27 years old) and dgd (5 years old) have a li'l 'rivalry' to see who gets flamingo at family dinners. Good thing I have 2 sets! And dd will only eat off the flamingo or turquoise even when it is 'just us'.

Depends on how long the trip is, if it is just a couple of nights - LOVE it, my cat and I get to spread out on the bed, run my essential oil diffuser, fall asleep with my tv shows on...close the windows...the little things I like. But if it is a longer trip....yeah, it gets harder and I start to have nightmares.

just clothes and toiletries...I have a soft tote that I use as a carry on, and it carries all my electronics, dslr, and even my gypsy goes in there!
Once I was in 'C' group for Southwest and the stewardess 'tried' to check my carry on - I told her no way, and luckily it did fit under the seat in front of me...even if my feet did not!
However, every time I travel with scrapbook stuff, that bag gets checked by TSA...I get the little note. Guess scrappin' supplies look suspicious.

It has been a while, I got one of those 'binders' off the hysterectomy site...the one where you can put a hot/cold pack..and LOVED it www.hystersisters.com/store/tummy-care/perfect-pocket-abdominal-binder-with-2-cool-packs/I'm not a back sleeper, so getting a pillow pet, so I could sleep on my side was a lifesaver Azo Cranberry Pills became an essential, esp the first few days as my body was relearning how to p** without my uterus's help. Tell her to take it easy, even if you feel 'pretty good' its easy to hurt yourself. I LOVED it, used the 6 weeks to read and scrapbook.

I'm a total food mixer, well not quite to the point of smashing ALL my food together on the plate...
but the rice/beans at a Mexican restaurant...and then scooped with a chip - yup
meatloaf and mashed potatoes become a mix on my plate
tuna loaf...mix that with rice and a touch of ketchup.
last weekend we had tri tip steak and mashed potatoes...can't smash it, but eat with a li'l bit of potato layered on each bite of steak... and of course the same with turkey and stuffing
the only thing I can't have on my food is syrup on pancakes...when it comes to that, I'm a 'dipper'..but only because pancake becomes to soggy.

The general rule is no gifts to adults, and that includes the kids when they graduate high school...though cards are usually sent. But my sister and I tend to give each other a small gift, we are both scrapbookers so in the past it has usually been a little 'scrapbook' something. Lucky for her, I go to the Expo in early August, her birthday is later in the month...so I'll pick up something for her there.

I'll also be cheering ya'll on! In 2009 I started a 'lifestyle change' at that time I was up to 3 to 4 cans of Pepsi per day. I started with Sparkpeople and their quickstart program of making a 2week commitment of stopping cold turkey. Then I started having one 'every now and then' (it was harder in the beginning to not feel dependent on pepsi for stressful moments) ...and before I knew it, it became about once a month.
And I cannot tell you the last time I had one, and it was probably only part of a can...as the taste is too sweet for me now. I think that is the good part, after a while, your tastebuds and body rejects it... whenever I did indulge the heartburn/gurgling from my tummy let me know my body does not like this.
I substituted with hot and cold tea for the caffeine. And Ginger ale for the bubbles. (but not very often)
About a month ago, after a scare ...had the caffeine jitters so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack. I went on a caffeine detox...and have not had any tea for the past 2 weeks. It was about 5 to 6 days of some pretty bad headaches, but gotta say, it has been a revelation as I have never felt better and more clear headed as I have these past 2 weeks. (Not saying I have no caffeine, as I still have dark chocolate)

Not a 'broken/destroyed' story...but a 'they are not welcome' story.
I have a gorgeous guest room we call the "princess room".. tiffany blue walls, dark woods, silver..all white plush linens.
Dh has a brother who is a former alcoholic/drug addict, he and his wife also smoke. We are all in our late 40's and 50's...and after a lifetime of abuse, well, some of you may have noticed that some people simply reek of the alcohol/smoke smell. That these smells start to pour from the skin.
At a family event at our home, they drank too much, so we could not let them drive over an hour home. So we offered our guest room.
The next morning, the stench they left was AWFUL. I cleaned and scrubbed and washed and aired out everything and even threw away the pillows.
Told dh, next time you get them a hotel room. Luckily, there has not been a next time.
