I do love the musical Into the Woods, and want to see the movie...but after how awful Merle Streep was in Mama Mia, I am real hesitant. I'm thinking musical is a different genre than Abba music, so it might not be as bad.... So any Peas that have seen it, is it worth seeing on the big screen, or wait till it comes out on T.V or cable. thanks

As a teen that is how my ds felt. He knew he wanted to be a Marine and felt that was not a life that was good for raising children. But in the Corps he met his wife, that he 'could not help falling in love with" (though he fought it) and now at age 30 he is the father to 2 precious, wonderful, adorable perfect little girls. He is out of the Corps and a law enforcement officer.
We always thought dd was going to get married and have kids right out of high school. She did too. She and her husband married after she graduated college and then waited till now, she is 28, as they wanted to finish getting their Masters, to have baby #1...a boy, due in 3 months.
We also have twins 'due' in this generation...I'm still hopeful for those twin grandbabies.
So, you just never know.

I'm in, I would love to figure out what to do with my acrylic stamps...so that is goal one. Right now they are in plastic drawers, binders and baskets all around my room and house.
And in a couple of months, I will have the in-law suite available to me, so I plan to make that bedroom an 'overflow' room. Yes, my room is so small I need space to overflow, right now it is the hallway leading to the scrap room. So, I'll need to organize that. I'm dreaming of shelving and a cricut workstation. But we will see.

Don't know of any book recommendations, but just wanted to say I am glad to hear you are stepping up as a parent. Too often, the parents of bullies make excuses and enable the behavior.

I plan for The World of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, to be my first read of the new year. It is sitting on the coffee table, waiting.

have been stalking pinterest, and making my lists, let's see what I actually do
planning to bake sugar cookies with the grandbabies Fri night, I'd like to encourage my 5 year old granddaughter to give some to a couple of their neighbors...don't know if that is really done anymore. (I live in the boonies, so no neighbors to speak of)
a cake for Sunday School kids, probably simple, yellow cake, choc frosting with crushed oreos on top
then Sunday afternoon some popcorn treats for the coworkers...also 'eyeballing' some Christmas crack for them
and Weds, a German gingerbread cake for Christmas.
tonight, dd is baking some maple/bacon cookies for her yearly exchange...can't wait to see how they turn out.

yes, our company pays for employee plus one. We are a smaller company of @60 employees. The party is held at the Silver Legacy in Reno...so we also comp a hotel room so there will be no drinking and driving.

This Spring dh found a litter of abandoned kittens on the side of the road. They were about 3 weeks old and needed to be bottle fed and litter trained... the whole 9 yards. And I LOVED every sleepless moment.
So I guess I am a nurturer to my core. And if allowed, I would foster baby kittens or puppies year round.
Unfortunately, dh was not as fond of the process and won't let me. So, I will need to find another outlet for my love of nurturing.

no, I am guilty of buying from the ones that pop up on my facebook feed. Though I hate them, and hate the fact that fb 'went commercial' Just yesterday bought a t shirt on LL Bean from one of them.

dh is also in charge of buying for his parents and brother, as I don't have a clue. He will also help bring my Christmas decor in from the garage, and when we host, he usually cooks the turkey in the outside grill. Other than that, it all falls on me. And I kinda like it that way

After my dad was killed in a car accident, the most remembered thing sent to me was a postcard from a friend of his I had never met. He told the story of how he and Dad were traveling and decided to pee into some hot springs to watch it 'sizzle'. Silly story, such a 'guy' thing, but it really helped.
The most comforting sentiment was a card rec'd from a family friend...she wrote, "though we cannot understand God's timing, we can trust in His will" As a Christian, that was the most comforting thing said to me. As a grieving daughter, it was tough, I went through some anger at God also....but those words did help me get through.

and of course my yearly foray to the Scrapbook Expo in Santa Clara is a huge shopping weekend for me.

ours is also at 18...then they join the adults. Which is no birthday gift (unless you find that something that is special)(and usually a small something), and Christmas when there is a relationship.
It may not have been that way, as some have mentioned...all the years there were no 'thank yous' or acknowledgement ...so we did start feeling like an 'atm machine'.

OP pretty much wrote my post. I did enjoy it also, but wouldn't call it a 'great' book. The fate of the children really affected me. I know 'real' life does not always have the happy, tidy endings.
For me, it started out slow...but it did become an easy read. It was interesting to get a better idea of society at this period of time, the mores and prejudices. Glad I wasn't born then.
The line that hit me 'between the eyes' was at the end, and she states that she has not written anything, because 'there is no creativity without a soul'...or something like that.

my walls are a violet color and the ceiling is blue - love it, my 'girly' space that dh had no say in. I have Ikea cabinets along the walls...with their butcher block for my work surface also 2 Ikea shelves and an older silver colored bakers rack for my cricut 'center' Right now I also have an 'island' created by putting 2 microwave carts back to back (where my cutterpillar sits) BUT that will change once my kids move out and their bedroom becomes my crafting 'overflow' room.

same here, and I also could have had the same question... I've been lucky, since learning of her feelings we haven't gotten together ...but holidays are coming up. And I just do not know how I am going to react/respond...maybe go up to her, 'so I understand you hate me?". I don't know why yet, I have guesses.
And yesterday my dh told me that she was in the hospital over the weekend. and I couldn't help but wonder if the 'worse' happened, if I should even go to her funeral. Would she not want my presence would it be hypocritical to attend?

I've been 'stalking' this sub board and really enjoying the conversations, inspiration and yes, enabling. I thought I would share my first attempts using project life.... I don't have many pages done, but boy, do I have supplies. I have 3 Iris storage cases with cards, punches and of course a variety of pages. but so far, gotta say though I find pl harder to plan out...I am enjoying it. so, have a couple of pics on my blog...if you have tips (esp ideas on what to do with my blank spaces) I would sure appreciate them. attempt at project life
and if you have pics to link back to me...would really love that..looking for all the inspiration I can find.

Did I miss a thread putting off reading this as a group? I've been looking for a thread.
I have read it, it took me only 3 days...it starts a bit slow but once you get going, it is a good book. Unexpected.
I stopped keeping books. Well, except those I just LOVE...so, if anyone would like a copy sent to you, just send me your address through this board's messages and I will send my copy out to you.
