This is tough, as my mom is going through Altzheimer's right now.
She is one tough cookie, smart as can be...she is a fun grandma to my kids...they loved her 'sauciness'. She pretty much says whatever she thinks.
But she comes from tough beginnings, her dad died when she was 6 years old, so her mom became sole provider for 6 kids...during post war Japan. She has memories of the war and bombings and food lines. They were dirt poor, And every child had to be a part of keeping the household. Even 'play' involved going thru bombed out buildings to find nails to sell. At 6 years old, she says she would come home from school and start the rice for dinner...and that all the kids would line up in the street waiting for their mom to walk down the street.
So, growing up she was very frugal. She made all our childhood clothes. Money was her barometer. She was a 'name-caller' and had a terrible temper. (I am part Japanese and Irish...never saw the Irish temper, my dad was so mild mannered, but that Japanese...whew, I even hid the fly swatter at one point...as she would hit us with it)
She was not a warm, fuzzy affectionate mom. Maybe now in her later years, I hear an occasional 'I love you'.
I do love her. I try to understand her and not take things personally. But like others, I have intentionally decided to treat my children better, no name calling, lots of love...now I am in grandma stage and absolutely love it and feel completely blessed.

also a morning person...just love scrapping in my pj's with a couple of mugs of hot Earl Grey teas to fuel me.
as mentioned, I start running out of gas by mid-late afternoon...and when the sun goes down, well, I am a bit worthless. LUCKY to get anything matted and on a page.

Busy, each day had a tight schedule, but...
Did squeeze in 3 hours (from 6am to 9am) on Sat morning, put layouts in dgd#1's book and embellished those that needed it.
Sunday, a little less time ...did make a couple of cards in the morning. After church, dgd#1 came over and I worked on a couple of layouts while she watched a movie. Did start putting dgd#2's layouts into her book...but not as much as I had hoped.
This weekend I am hosting a crop, hopefully will get more done.

I struggle with the embellishing part...I don't think I do enough. I try to keep the visual triangle, so tend to do 3 spots...3 of the embellie. But I find when I look back at the book, even though my layouts are simple, they are not 'as bad' as I thought at the time. I like the taking a picture idea...as it happened to me recently, while posting a pic on my blog..I 'saw' that one of the pages is top heavy...so I can go back and give 'balancing' it a try.

Mostly alone in my scrap room. But do go to crops 2 to 3 times per year. Expo and a couple of crop camps. We have a local group, but do not meet monthly as we once had. I do enjoy scrapping as a group, but also love holing up in my cave with a couple of movies or cd's
Companion pages must coordinate. They are not necessarily 2 page layouts, but I use the same paper line for those that face one another. A big reason why I tend to scrap chronologically.

I started out scrapbooking when I became an empty nester. Now I was a very involved mom and many, including me, wondered how I was going to handle empty nest. I think scrapbooking was my 'therapy'. I could still be involved, relive those moments. Now I do it with my grandchildren. As far as regrets or rethinking...maybe buying less. I really do not need every color of everything!! or maybe I do... As far as future, need to do more storytelling. So when the great grands look through the book they will know what was going on.

Also tend to be a simple, traditional scrapper...I wish I was more 'artsy'. and better at creating embellie clusters.

link to my blog with pic of this prompt. I don't know how to put pics in threads, so they will be on my blog...(disclaimer) my blog is not monetized or anything...so I am not trying to drive traffic. Just the simplest way to share pics Top of my desk...been unpacking from a weekend crop, but discovered I had a group of layouts out of order (try to put them chronologically in the book) so, on top of my desk is probably my first layout for May...as I now need one to insert into the order I had. does that make sense? probably only to a fellow scrapbooker.. Cool that there is a 'pin' from admin for these threads!!

yes, as a young family of 4 in a 2 bedroom rental...kids with crib/toddler bed/ toys were in the 'Master' while dh and I took the smaller. We figured since we only slept there, it made the most sense.

linkUp with a look at my scrapspace 17/21 No, still enjoying this. Kinda sad we are almost at the end. But I set the blog post up with pics the night before, then type it out that morning after I get to 'work' around 6:30 am. But then, I have not been able to scrapbook all that much. So it isn't scrapping and blogging.

Let's use something old... an old tool that has been sitting around collecting dust (I have a red sizzex) old embellies, can anyone say eyelets? or chipboard? (at least for me)... maybe paper you have had sitting around since the beginning...(in the beginning I bought a bunch of the nondescript packs on ebay)

Still primarily a 12x12 double page scrapbooker, now I mix pocket pages with them. Just try to make sure the adjoining pocket page coordinates.
But I know what you mean about the library of various sizes and fads. I have all kinds of sizes on my bookshelf...paper bag albums...even albums made from tracing flip flops, but never really did chipboard. Do have a collection of empty chipboard albums at the ready, though
Did do Smash for a couple of years, but have let that slide. Have last year's on my desk as a 'need to get to it'. Will not pick up a Planner, no, I will not.
also have a Bible that I was journalling in...but have not touched it since mid Feb...another 'need to get to it'. siiiiiigh

I would like to join, Also cannot do a layout a day...as I am a NannyGrammy and work 10+ hours per day chasing a toddler. BUT would love to be inspired to scrap weekends...
I am going to a weekend retreat 4-29 thru 5-1, plan to work on granddaughter books.
so for May, Goals are:
1) work on grandsons books
2) mini album for dd's mil (she requested one of their Napa trip)
I will have a crop at my house on Sat the 14th, so can use the prompts as inspiration that day. (Unless I am too busy 'hosting' to crop. or have too many beginners I will need to coach.)
4-28 edited to add a new goal...a Memorial book for my father in law
