Something similar happened in Wichita KS. Someone from California called it in (I think they played online games together). The man who’s house was swatted ended up being shot and killed by police due to not cooperating and if I remember correctly, he had “something” in his hand. (Maybe a phone). The guy who called it in is charged with something like 2nd degree murder. Scary stuff!

I am just shy of turning 52. That sees so old!! Shouldn’t I be 40? I feel a lot younger! Or I did.... until I fell roller skating and damaged my hip- I’ll be having surgery #3 in the fall. And in 2 weeks, I get to have a hysterectomy and have already started on the patch. Oh man I sound ancient! It always sounds so weird when I hear myself say that my kids are 31 and 32.! Like THAT isn’t possible!!!!!

So I went out and balled my eyes out at the cemetery. Got my self together, went and got some sunflowers, went to my therapist appointment then at 5pm (the time he died), met my mom back out at the cemetery. Lots of crying, hugging, talking and a little bit of Xanax. I’m wiped out, emotionally spent, and glad it’s over. Again, thank you for the kind words, shared stories and friendship.

I'm so sorry. The one year anniversary of my father's death is coming up next month. Seems like yesterday. Seems like forever. I hope that you treat yourself gently on the day of the anniversary. I went to lunch w/my son, had a session w/my therapist, and will go to the cemetery then to dinner with my family tonight. I wish there were magic words someone could say to minimize the pain. But we work our way through the grief. My new word is Adjust. I’m learning to adjust to life without my daddy.

One year ago today- I woke up with my dad in ICU, still fighting to live. At 2:30, we made the most difficult decision of our life- comfort care At 4:59pm, my life was changing forever. At 5:00pm my daddy died, as we held his hands. At 5:01pm my life was shattered.
I am 50 years old, but when it comes to my dad, I’m a 7 yr old little girl. I just need to get thru this day.

When we put my son’s show horse down, I had a friend use my semi-pro camera to shoot pics. The card corrupted. I was devastated. We finally found a guy who worked for a photo processing plant. He found and purchased software and recovered the photos. Well worth the $300 I reimbursed him for the software! (And a nice gift card for his time since he refused to let us pay). There are programs out there that the photographer can research and use to recover the pics. I’m so sorry this happened!

There is the new street car line that goes from City Market to Union Station. Union Station always has interesting displays and events! There is some kind of reflection display outside of the station. Legends Outlet shopping is in western Wyandotte Co. Lots of shopping and restaurants. The West Bottoms in KCMO has a lot of shabby chic type of shopping. Not all of them are open unless it's the first weekend of the month, but there are many that are open. In Bonner Springs, on Oak Street, there are several cute boutique stores w/everything from clothing to home décor (again kind of shabby chic). Those are off the top of my head. Some activities depend on the day of the week. Have fun and enjoy!!!

Watching from Ks. Please keep us updated. This has to stop. It’s been 12 yrs since our oldest was shot on duty. We are grateful to God that he recovered and was back on duty after 9 months of recovery. Praying for HPD! Oh my, I can't image getting that phone call. My daughter is an officer and on the bomb squad (they go out to most SWAT calls). Praise God your son is okay. Please thank him for his service from one blue family to another! Same to your daughter!!! When R got shot, both my DH and I worked for the same dept (I was a civilian crisis responder). I was on call so my pager went off..... I get ready and head out..... my DH’s phone rings and it’s R. He tells his dad that he hurt his leg but is ok and to go ahead and go out of town as planned........(we didn’t know WHO had been shot yet)...... he had called from the medic unit- he was shot 7 times, but trying to play it down so we wouldn’t worry. We laugh now and tease about reverting back to teen yrs and downplaying/lying about something. May you never have to experience such a situation with your daughter.

The search warrant that was being executed was the result of tips from the neighbors on suspicious activity that was handed over to narcotics to investigate. Suspect names have not been released, nor have the names of the wounded officers (and the officers' names won't be since they all appear to be in the narcotics unit and undercover). The five injured: 50-year-old sergeant 50-year-old sergeant 54-year-old senior officer (who has been shot in the line of duty at least once before) <- evidently this guy was the case agent on this investigation 40-year-old officer 33-year-old officer Joe Gamaldi, president of the Houston Police Officers' Union, had this to say at the news conference: "We are sick and tired of having targets on our back. We are sick and tired of having dirtbags trying to take our lives when all we're trying to do is protect this community and protect our families. Enough is enough." Thank you for keeping us updated!! I hope some moron doesn’t release the names!! It’s no one’s business, just tell us their condition and that they’ll be ok!! I watched the news conference where Joe Gamaldi spoke. Let’s just say that HPD officers are fortunate to have someone to speak up and say what has needed to be said about each police shooting ever!!!!! I could hug that guy!!!!

3 life flights, but they think at least one was because of the traffic. Ambulances are taking too much time... 10 miles, well over half hour.... Yeah, the location is near a major freeway interchange and it's a nightmare to get to the Medical Center at rush hour. Surface streets to TMC from there aren't any better (driven that route numerous times). They tend to use air transport in this scenario anyway.
ABC local just said SWAT there because there's evidently a 3rd suspect inside or in the area.

Thanks for all the well wishes, funny comments etc!! The name just isn’t growing on me. And she doesn’t “look like” a P!ckle- she looks like a Gretchen to me (no clue WHY). She is such a good baby and so dainty!! Now for DN’s parents- I hear from my sis that they are still very upset and refuse to even say the name! I sure hope they work it out.

She is here! Born at 0838 this morning!! Yep, it’s little P!ckle D3anna (spelled weird to protect privacy.) 7lb 9oz and 20” long. Her parents are not happy about the name- I don’t know them well, but I didn’t realize how ultra traditional they are! I feel bad for DN and wife- her mom told her she needs to pick another name. Nephew’s parents (my sister and BIL) were surprised and not thrilled, but just smiled and stayed in the background of the drama of her parents. I’m heading home in a few- been a long night. So welcome to the world little P!ckle.......

I would be grateful for prayers for my family. 2018 has been a devastating year. We have lost several family members this year, including my father. My sons are struggling badly, as they were extremely close to dad. Also for a smooth delivery for our niece in law as she is being inducted now. So grateful for this thread, and will keep all in my prayers also.

Well, we should know soon, as she is currently being induced! I didn't mean to cause such a stir, I thought this would be a safe place to release my shock. I hope the name IS a nickname or a joke, but knowing the parents, it might not be. Not the worst name, just unusual for our family.
SockMonkey, thank you for the terse post. I am well aware of glass ceilings, male dominated corporations and unfair biases that can prevent a woman with or without a name such as Precious, from being considered for a CEO position. And my relationship with the parents will be just fine- regardless.
Now I'm off to change the spelling in my post, then to the hospital!

It is definitely as much DN as his wife! He’s always been a different type of kid, real dry personality. She’s due any time now, and I pray they were playing a joke! I swore to my DH that I would keep it to myself and hope it’s a nickname or joke. This is going to be interesting for sure! If it IS her name, I’ll be calling her DeeDee or Ann/Anna. I absolutely agree that you don’t hear of CEO’s names Sparkle, or Desire or Precious. Our family, and as far as I know, her family, all have traditional/common names. And DH pointed out that IF it is Pickle, their last name starts with a D, so she would be Pickle D. D____ (pickled). Oh man I have a headache!!!!

Our nephew and his wife have lost their mind! She is ready to give birth anytime. We’re excited to welcome a precious baby girl into our family!! They have not shared the baby’s name with anyone- wanting to keep it a surprise- to the point that this weekend, they put the baby’s name on her wall in her room, so now, no one can go in the room. Whatever, that’s fine, and fun. So my DH had to go help with a repair, and got to see the baby’s room, with the name....... P!CKLE D3ANNA LAST NAME. P!CKLE! NOT A NICKNAME, HER REAL NAME!!! DH snapped a pic because he knew i wouldn’t believe him! I just can’t!!

The first time my niece met her now in laws, they had dinner at their house. Somehow they parents started talking about d!ldo’s. The mom goes over to the freezer and pulls out a glass one! My niece was horrified (somewhat sheltered)! It’s a big family joke with our family now! Anytime someone gets ice out of the fridge, there’s a great chance someone else is going to yell, don’t break the frozen glass treasure!

I keep seeing the weather updates. It makes me sad. Normally I would be calling my Dad to check on him, but he passed away a few weeks ago. His funeral is Saturday, so hopefully it will be gone by then. My dad would typically be calling to make sure we were all ok too. But he died 3 months ago. I’m so sorry about your dad- I wish I had words that could comfort you. You are in my thoughts and prayers= please reach out if you want to chat.
