I booked our airfare for a cruise- 5 of us. 3 days before we were scheduled to leave, I looked at the paperwork..... I booked our outbound flight for us to leave at 4PM THE DAY OF THE CRUISE!!!! I was so panicked, and mad at myself, and flustered. $1500 later, I got our flights all switched. I STILL get sick thinking about it!!

I am an only. I always loved it until my dad died. I realized that even thought my parents raised 2 of my cousins, it’s not the same. I wish I had a sibling. My DH had 2 brothers- 1 is 12 yrs older than him and they get along, but never talk. The other brother was 9 yrs older than Dh but died at 18 yrs old. We have 3 sons, 39, 31 and 30. The 2 younger ones live together and get along great. The oldest loves the younger ones, but the age gap is a little much, and he’s a police officer and confirmed bachelor. No grands yet.

Before we lost our horses, they had a chiropractor who came out once a month, wouldn’t eat their grain unless it had the garlic supplement in it, and had to have a peppermint after. For our dogs- my husband just bought an older SUV that he will use to take the girls on outings, to training and competitions. He refers to it as “the girls” truck. Treats are appropriately placed in different compartments and they know and expect when to get them (for getting in the vehicle, for sitting during their trip, etc). We love our fur kids!!!

As the wife on a retired LEO, mom of an LEO, and civilian administrator for an LEO agency who lost 2 LEOs in June (one was one of my best friends), my heart is crushed for his family. Many prayers for his family both blood and Blue. I also pray that those on the manhunt are safe, and protected while searching for the bastard that did this.

We use the prong collars on our dogs, but they are 80 lb German Shepherds. I won’t take them outside if they don’t have those collars on because they are so strong, I’ve been hurt (pulled to the ground) if they don’t have them on. When they are on, I can control them, and they behave perfect. I’d be leary about using them on a small dog, BUT I’d talk to the trainer to see what his plan is, why he feels it is necessary..... AND is the collar sized and used properly.

Duct tape- things rip, zippers break (suitcases). Take a crossbody purse- easier to deal with, take a bag for any beach excursions, Royal Caribbean is one of our favorite lines- make sure you get back to the ship in time to go up top and watch the dock runners! (People who wait until the very last minute to return- sometimes the ship leaves without them- which is sad). Don’t worry about the internet package unless you HAVE to have it. It’s overpriced and slow. There will be many locations in port where you can use the internet for free. Most of all- relax and have fun!!!!

I am so sorry about your mom. Losing a parent is the worst pain, so be good to yourself. Let yourself grieve, cry, whatever will make you release some of the pain. Maybe you could do a special service with just your family. Plant a tree or bush, make a donation to some place special. Love and hugs.

Oh I am so sorry. I just lost my dad 3 weeks ago. I was a daddy’s girl too. I wish there were magic words to make your heart feel better, but I don’t have the words or advise to offer. Just know that I am walking the path with you and would be glad to hold your hand.

1975, I was 6. My aunt owned a small mom and pop store. Two guys came in to rob her, she opened the floor safe, and they saw a play gun my little cousin had (he was about 6) with his other toys, and they point blank shot her. They were caught and prosecuted.
Working in law enforcement, our county lost 4 officers/deputies within 2 yrs. I was very good friends w/one officers wife. It was awful. Then this yr one of my best friends, and her partner were killed when an inmate got the partner’s gun. Devastating for all.

I am so sorry about your puppy. Are you near a university with a vet program that could offer treatment? One of our horses had a catastrophic injury and we were able to get him transported to a vet school, who treated him successfully and at a much more reasonable cost. Just a thought. Prayers for you as you make hard decisions.

My dad died Aug 15th. We’ve held the visitation, celebrated his life, and spent time with friends and family. I have been a daddy’s girl since day one. To say I was his princess, is an understatement! Even at 50 yrs old, he still treated me like his princess. (I am an only). My 2 adult sons are beyond devastated. He was truly my oldest’s best friend. He even asked his grandpa to be his best man when he gets married.
He was 73 years old, but lived life as if he was a lot younger. He and my mom were very active- car shows w/their street rod on display, taking off on bike trips, planning family trips. Life is forever changed. My heart shattered in a million pieces.
Not sure why I’m posting this here. Maybe for guidance on how to live without him?

Our agency just lost 2 deputies two weeks ago. One was a very dear friend of mine. It's gut wrenching and we are devastated. But I will tell you, the love that has surrounded us from our community has been wonderful. I hope that during this dark time, you will see a glimmer of civility. Holding your hand and sending hugs to you, your family and the troops blood and blue family.

Thank you for the kind words. I spent time with my staff this afternoon. Then my friends family came to the department. What do you say to an 8 yr old when she says "my mom died because some bad guy killed her". She wanted to lean off her moms cubical, so the guys got boxes and she had a ball digging thru her drawers, while we pasted on fake smiles and laughed with her.
So as administration, we have to be strong, take care of our people, do what needs to be done. As a cop's mom, I'm terrified even more, as a cop's wife, I've never been more happy he's retired. As a friend, I'm numb.

I am beyond broken hearted. We lost two deputies in our county yesterday. Shot and killed by an evil man who has committed several murders, been acquitted on two, charges pending on others.
The he female deputy was my partner in crime. We were instigators of practical jokes, solving the worlds problems, and finding the wildest socks to wear. I am sick for myself, for our coworkers, and mostly for both families.
Here is is a link. http://Www.kctv5.com i can't think of how to add a link right now.

My boys loved the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado at that age. We also went to Chicago for a long weekend, we did L.A/Hollywoo/Anahiem for a week once. Hubby took the boys and did the boundary waters up north.

This happened in my home state. Yes there are flashing police lights, an officer on the loud speaker telling him to keep him hands up. Which he did, but if I understand correctly, put them back down, reached for his waist, and is shot. I am NOT blaming the victim. I am NOT blaming the officer. He was doing his job based on the info given. They have arrested the caller. Arrest is pending the other gamer. As the wife of an officer, I can assure you that I have little doubt the officer woke that day and thought "what the heck! I think I'll kill an innocent man". Please remember he is human, and will also live with this awful tragedy.
