The videos are from a list of LMPD officers who worked the scene on Elliott Avenue while Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, was being served with search warrants as part of a drug investigation. The list of videos in question are not believed to include any from the scene at Taylor’s apartment on Springfield Drive. According to Sam Aguiar, Taylor’s family attorney, the city admitted the additional body camera videos existed this Thursday, months after they did not disclose their existence in their response to Aguiar’s subpoena. That subpoena was filed in June 2020. It included a list of body camera videos from several officers. Aguiar believes they hold critical evidence about the case, including what officers were told about Taylor and Detective Jon Mattingly being shot.

Every time I see the him mentioned, I can't help but wonder how we as a country got to the point where a guy who makes and sells pillows is a trusted advisor of the POTUS. What a bizarre time we are living in. From where I sit mediocre white men have always been placed in roles they are undeserving of. Society basically refuses to give anyone else a chance. I liken it to being apart of a losing team that benches it’s greatest minds. |

I started a thread about black business to support and my sense is no one did*. Now is a great time to start. Begin with your consumables. Spices, TP, laundry detergent etc then your household services. A lot of those small business owners are incredibly racist and can’t hide it in traditional employment situations so they’ve flocked to those professions. *namely the Spice Suite. Her stuff is so amazing if anyone had purchased they would be raving about it. I leave room for me being absolute wrong. If your bought Black during the holidays thanks a bunch. , love everything I see on the Spice Suite website. A couple problems though. While I understand the thought behind only offering their collections and boxes online, they are all over $100 and that is a real stretch for many. I see that things are available individually in person, some of us are not going into any store in person right now. I could always call and ask if paying ahead and doing a curbside pickup is available, but I would have no way to know what items were a possibility. The other issue is insurance for shipping is limited to $50, and there is no option to pay for additional, and they only offer USPS. So at least half your purchase is a total risk when it comes to shipping. Perhaps when covid is under control, I can stop in the shop and get something. It looks beautiful, just out of my comfort range for now. I have found nearly all small business owners to be lovely people, so haven't gone out of my way to patronize Black owned ones. Sure, a few are real pieces of work, but I have kept a list of local places who were displaying MAGA banners, so I can remember who they were in the future once they work to blend in. Regarding the Spice Suite boxes...Understandable. And to be a bit more clear I meant a lot of racist people have flocked to service related small business because they couldn’t mask their racism in a traditional work environment. I was thinking of lawn care, tree guys, pest control etc not brick and mortar small business. I say this because in the area my sister lives they will come to the job site confederate flags flying and then be pissed when they find the household is Black. |

Not to be that person, but it's both this dramatic footage/photos AND the fact that we have hundreds of thousands of deaths attributable DIRECTLY to the fact that this president was never interested in serving the American people, and was willing to lie and do nothing in the face of COVID. I’m okay being dramatic and even robotic with my message....Racism was the root cause. I’ll also add good people could have intervened. |

A good listen. I’m personally not there yet. I think for my safety it’s necessary to remove the humanity from people who’ve never recognized mine. If anyone can get me there though it’s her. I completely understand your perspective as a member of a race that was horribly dehumanized and you can see from the study she cited in the podcast, there is a segment of the population that is open about dehumanizing you. In addition to the institutional ways you are still being dehumanized by even people who are trying to overcome their bias. I see your point of view in that respect for sure. I do not think the alt right and the far left (white mainly) can appropriately as a group hold to any sort of victimhood when it comes to dehumanization. So outside the context of race, neither side has the moral high ground on *not* dehumanizing the other. In the context of race, it is very clear that one race has dehumanized another for centuries and continues to unjustly do so. I'm glad you found value in this podcast Thank you for understanding. And again thanks for posting I regularly listened to her audiobooks but had gotten out of the habit. She is so impactful. |

I would start an intentional living community for Black people to come live in peace. Maybe in Belize or Guatemala. Teach people how to retire early and be financially independent from systems that don’t mean them well.
I’d also love to be a hotelier or have a zero waste store.

The level of personal responsibility White people don’t feel in tackling racism always baffled me. Or the insistence that in order to hear me out I must be meek mild and leave room for the “good white people” when relaying my own lived experience.

Seeing that they were heading towards the open Senate chambers, Capitol police officer Eugene Goodman took control of the mob, giving its leader a shove to get his attention and then drawing them away in pursuit. In short, he tricked them, willingly becoming the rabbit to their wolf pack, pulling them away from the chambers where armed officers were waiting, avoiding tragedy and saving lives. Lives which include their own. An Army veteran who spent time in Iraq, Goodman’s actions bring a measure of honor to a police force that saw some of its members acting in a questionable manner. Calls have come for him to receive national commendation for his actions, perhaps even the Congressional Medal of Honor. Now, that’s not my call to make, but this man deserves far more than our praise and thanks. Maybe our soon to be President will award a medal to someone other than a radio talking head, sympathetic politicians, or a few golfers. And also, maybe a little pay increase. We saw the worst of our nature on display Wednesday. Many people immediately stood up and said, “This is not who we are!” History tells us, this is exactly who we are. Running from this fact won’t change it. But at the same time, we’re also Eugene Goodman. A people who will put themselves in harm's way to protect others. Even those that wouldn’t do the same for us. It’s a constant fight for the soul of this nation. Here’s hoping that this example by Eugene Goodman, one of our better angels, can serve as a reminder of what we can be, and help lead us in that direction. Thank you for your service sir. |

I can certainly understand why some people feel that way. I had a pretty rich year full of personal growth. In my heart it was kinda my last year for “traditional” so that hit me hard but it also gave me the freedom to leave the country before the shit show. I’m of course excited for when this is all over so that I can find a new home.
