I'm very disappointed in my 24 year old son right now, so that I can't speak to him right now. He is married to a wonderful woman and has two beautiful sons and put it in jeopardy recently. They are seeing a counselor now and I pray they make it. But I'm just so sad and heartbroken.

That happened a few times when we lived in Wisconsin and New York and always when it was extremely cold!

Napili Kai for us too, it's my favorite place to be. We've had family reunions there several times, absolutely wonderful. The beach is right there and the waters are calm, you can walk to another beach at Kapalua that is good for snorkeling too.
I love Maui, we plan to go back this summer and I can't wait!!

We have gone to a wonderful place called Napili Kai for family reunions. The rooms have kitchens and there are grills on the property so we do a lot of our meals there. It's right on the beach! It's very nice - not a five star resort or high rise - many of the rooms are just a few steps from the beach but it is absolutely lovely and my favorite place to be. It's about 15 minutes beyond Lahaina.

I too am praying for your family now, that's just way too much. I'm asking God for His mercy and grace and peace right now. And healing for your husband now too.

Thank you everyone! After two very rough days, my father in law is improving. His speech is much clearer, he wasn't confused at all last night and for that we are so grateful. He's still not out of the woods but we were just so glad to see him in better shape.

Both of my parents died at Christmas 7 & 8 years ago. Now my father in law is in the hospital having had a fairly significant stroke and this is devastating to my mother in law who has Alzheimer's disease, she's so confused. Our hearts are breaking over it all. My father in law isn't doing well, there's no way he can return home like this. My husband and I are their caregivers and we're exhausted and getting sick with colds. Prayers would definitely be appreciated now.

Yes, here too. I have a wonderful young friend whose husband is a police officer with the Newtown CT police and was a first responder two years ago. He was with one of the children when she died. My heart breaks for so many.

My3freaks, I make peppermint meringues, here's the recipe, which I double now with my Kitchenaid 2 large egg whites, room temperature 1/8 t. Salt 1/8 t. Cream of tartar 1/2 cup sugar Crushed candy canes Line 2 cookie sheets with foil. In large bowl beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar and beat until the mixture is very stiff, smooth and glossy. Drop by teaspoonful onto prepared cookie sheets then lightly sprinkle crushed candy canes over the tops. Bake for 1 and 1/2 hours at 225 degrees til meringues look dry and white. Turn off oven, keep oven door ajar and let meringues cool.

I love mine, it's a 5 quart artisan that I got last year for Christmas, although I used it before Christmas cookies, I couldn't believe how easy it all was! We make meringue cookies, I could easily double the recipe and it was just so easy. I love that you can add ingredients as you go without having to stop. I use it for many things, quite often. I wish I had one long before last year!

I'm in Marin County and the wind is picking up now with no rain right now. Last week we had a storm that brought with it flooding and major traffic headaches; tomorrow's storm is predicted to be much bigger so I'm glad schools are closed.

December is a hard month here too, my dad died on December 30, 2006 and my mom died on December 31, 2007. Now my mother-in-law and father-in-law are both struggling with major health problems. This time of year just isn't very kind. I'm sorry you're struggling too.
I'm thankful tho too for the hope that Christmas holds for me and for my family and friends who have been an encouragement through the hardest of times.

Our grandson Teddy visited us a couple of months ago, he was 18 months at the time. He was trying to get my husband's attention and kept saying "Gampa! Gampa!" Well, Gampa was talking with someone at the time and didn't hear our little grandson. So Teddy tried another approach and said "Hey Steve!" That worked

We live down the street from where Robin Williams lived, and died we never met him but saw him often riding his bike. We've heard from neighbors who lived next to him that he was very approachable and a great neighbor. I wish I had said hi!

A small resort in Maui called Napili Kai beach resort. It's my favorite place on earth, on a beautiful, calm bay overlooking the islands of Molokai and Lanai. It's not a high rise or a 4 star kind of place but it's so nice and perfect for families. We've had 7 family reunions there and plan to go back next year too, when we were there this summer there were 17 of us between the ages of 16 months and 88...4 generations! We are scattered all over the country, with one nephew living in Japan, so it's very special to be able to get together.

Our little grandson is 18 months old now and talking up a storm. He was trying to get my husband's attention recently but my husband was talking to someone else and didn't hear him. So when saying gampa didn't work, he said Steve! Hey Steve! That worked!!

NOT MUCH!! My husband and I are caregivers for his elderly parents who have a number of issues and that has kept us very busy, but my husband broke his ankle and had surgery a few weeks ago so now he's very dependent as well. So the responsibility is all on me now. I joke that I'm running away once he's back on his feet!

This is just so very sad. I loved him in so many movies, such joy he brought to us all!
We live down the street from him. When we came home from an appointment this afternoon we saw many helicopters and news trucks. I wanted so much for them to all leave and give his poor family the space and peace they need now.
I never met him but saw him riding his bike a lot and that always made me smile.
Peace to his memory.
