The Mister retired from the Navy last November and started a traveling job. Since June he has been working 3.5 hours south in Florida. He and a roommate are renting a condo on the beach.
The roommate is going home to AL for the holiday. My girls and I are driving down to spend Thanksgiving on the beach with DH.
DH has made reservation at a restaurant we like that is literally steps from the ocean. I don't know what's on the menu, they advertised Thanksgiving dinner, works for us.
Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!

I leave a week from Monday on a Canival cruise with my daughter. This will be our 3rd spring break cruise in so many years. We have only ever cruised Carnival because their dates work for us. This will be my 7th and I have 2 more booked this year.
We have always had a great time. I only got sick once and it was from food I consumed in port not on the ship.
Most ships have 3 smoking areas. Two out on deck and 1/2 the bar area in the casino. Smoking is not allowed in staterooms or on private balconies.
The food is good in the main dining room, not gourmet, but good stuff. Guys burgers and Blue Iguanas mexican is really good. 24 hour pizza is well pizza. Love the 24 hour ice cream. Some ships have a specialty steak house and a couple of other specialty restaurants available for an upcharge. Seldom do we eat at the buffet, usually breakfasts.
Go and have fun. There are some really awesome people who cruise Carnival!

Yeah, because everyone in the military loves it when they have to be part of the Rent a Crowd for some ceremony they could give 2 shits about. They also hate the days upon days of cleaning so some high ranking dude can tour their command for a hot minute. But they will do it.

Try going to their website or on the app and opting in to emails. I have heard that is the trick to getting the all thr emails they send out.

We bought the boys nice sweaters and a shirt and 1 of the Kohls blankets. Both DDs are in college and have been dating their fellas for a year or more. We really like these young men. When the girls were younger we did more tokenish gifts, but there is a good chance that these young men may eventually become oir SILs.

My daughter Quit her junior year to pursue dual enrollment. Her director would not work with her to be in the band class she needed to be able to take the college classes she needed. She is happy with her decision. She is graduating a semester early and moving on to a 4 year school in January. She will be a college junior at the 4 year school. Band is an awesome extracurricular, but regular school trumps it.

Put-up-manship...relationships are about give and take. How much are you willing to give or put up with in a relationship? Somethings are small others are huge. Put-up-manship speaks to how much is too much.

Thank you Mommy. We are in the very beginning stages of all this transition stuff. The area sounds a lot like where we live now, except no beaches. However, we may consider buying a second home on the gulf for vacations and eventual total retirement. Even if one of these jobs don't work out, we may need to go visit the area. I will keep you posted!

Are kids are in college, and we plan to rent for the 1st little bit, to make sure it's a good fit for us. So tell me the good, bad and ugly, please.

Amazon has a couple different brands with decent reviews for under $100. They look almost identical to the Go pro and even use the same accessories.
I personally bought the Lightdow LD4000 1080P HD Sports camera. It works great. At $42.95 It was perfect. It comes with some accessories and I bought an additional accessory pack.

Cabins on Liberty are 185-220 sq ft. 120sqft would be tight just for 2, couldn't imagine packing in 3 or 4.

The liberty also sales to Half Moon cay and Princess cay. It just depends on the sailing that you choose. The Liberty is a beautiful Ship. The Hub app is $5 per device for the cruise.
Have never sailed RCCL, but have sailed Liberty 2x, most recently at Spring break.

We used to visit family, now we do our own thing. Family never visits is so...
We've done the teacups, visited Harry, but we are also 2 1/2 hours from Orlando. Our latest thing is cruising. My kids are older and soon will all have familoes of their own. Cruising works for us. We did a 7 day Carribean cruise at Christmas that was quite the hit.
DH os retiring from the military later this year and the youngest will be a junior in college. DH has promised to take me to some of the places he has been the last 30 years and I can hardly wait. I have my passport and an awesome suitcase!

I use a washcloth.
Navy boot camp decreased my shower ritual immensely. 80 women and 20 showerheads, 30 minutes. We were sometimes 4 deep around a showerhead. One gets wet, one lathers, one rinses, ect. It was an experience.
Then im A school, same gang showers, but with more time. It became a social sometimes.
Shipboard life we had private shower stalls, but underway everyone was in there at the same time. Also, no hollywood showers. Ships at sea make their own water, they only make so much a day. You got in wet down, turn off the water, soap up, then rinse. Sometimes they would go to no showers if the evaps couldn't keep up with water consumption. Good times.
I can still shower and be out the door in 15 minutes. I prefer not to be that rushed, but I know it can be done.

My daughter went through this. It will work out. After a miserable first year of her own making, sort of, she figured out tat she is better off where she wound up. Her 2nd choice school has afforded her so many opportunities that would never have been possibe or offered at her 1st choice.
We had tears, and she was set on transferring when she could, she was miserable that 1st year. Now, as a senior, she couldn't be happier. The best friend she could not stand to be separated from, who went to the 1st choice, is no more and she has made new friends she will cherish forever. She has grown up so much. Not sure the outcome would have been the same had she gone to the same school with beastie.
It all works out for a reason! Good luck!

I own a glass shop. I hope you'll consider helping the small guy, they all are going to be able to take your insurance. If your insurance has a $0 deductible on chips then it will be taken care of by the ins company. Most do! It will only take you a couple minutes to go through the claim process on the phone. Safelite is a mega corporation. Not only do they own glass shops, but they also manufacture the glass they put in your car. ALSO, they own the network that dispatches your insurance claim! (there are a couple). I'm sure you can see how this can be a huge conflict of interest but somehow they still do it. If you decide to pay cash, call around. We do chip repairs for $39.95 in shop and it must be smaller than a quarter. I worked for Harmon Glass in my past life. Safelite was oir biggest competitor. We had shops and affiliate shops all over the US. We also contracted with insurance companies for replacements. If there was not a Harmon Glass in the area we would send them to an affiliate shop. I worked direcrly for the man who would set up contracts with prospective affliates. It is a very interesting industry.

Currently he is in Nuclear Propulsion on a Nuclear Submarine. He is retiring this year with 30 years in the Navy. He is planning to work in a power plant somewhere. He is basically going to go work for whoever offers the best deal. However, he really would prefer a no nuclear plant.
