Early in DH's Naval career as a submariner we went 120 days without contact. I could send him a 50 word "Family Gram" once a week, but he could not reply. You weren't allowed to put much more in these missives than I love you and miss you.
Some of us would make a game out of coming up with things to say that would not get us in trouble. The best one I remember was "It is Thanksgiving, the turkey needs stuffing and so do I." Of course we also told our guys we loved them and missed them.
These days we have email, sort of...it is read by several people before it gets to the mister. Email is unlimited though, but you still can't really tell them anything that could possibly upset them. But they can reply at least.
So yeah for the last 20 years or so I have gone a lot of time not seeing or talking to the mister. We give each other a stack of cards to be opened whenever or on special days before he leaves and check email often for those messages. And look forward to homecoming and retirement.

They get away with it because they aren't hiring the individuals, they are signing a contract with another company to use their employees. When I worked in staffing we had several of these contracts we serviced. It is cheaper to use a service in the long run because the service carries the liabilities. These people are not Disney employees. The work site maybe Disney but they are not on Disney ' s payroll.
These kinds of contracts have been happening for years. The immigrants are just a new twist. We serviced many large corporations at the agency I worked for and we weren't the only company many of them used.
Amazon staffs their warehouses with contract labor. It is one of many ways they keep the prices lower.

So I live in GA 3 miles from the FL/GA line north of Jacksonville FL. We spend a lot of time in FL as the beach in Fernandina is the closest and I love the beach. Where I am at in GA is a big military community - big as in the Navy is the largest employer, the town is small. Anyway a lot of the military here choose to live in FL because of the no tax thing.
The schools in Nassau County are pretty good from what I understand. Duvall County can be hit or miss. Duvall is Jacksonville, FL. Although Jacksonville is a huge place and there are several counties that are considered part of the Greater Jacksonville area.
As mentioned earlier there is a lot to do within a couple of hours from anywhere in FL it just depends on what you are after.
Finding good medical care has not been an issue here. The military takes care of me and mine, but when my mom lived here we had no problems getting the care she needed.
Is it hot. Yes. Do we have bugs and snakes. Yes. We also have central air and exterminators. We use our air like people up north use their heat. Personally I would rather go to the beach or pool to cool off everyday than shovel snow. Dealt with the snow growing up in MI NO THANKS.
DH is retiring from the military in 2 years and we are looking at moving to the Cape Canaveral area where he does. We like the area and he has a job opportunity down there.
We have stayed in this area for the last 15 years because it has been a good fit for us. We like it. DH is from PA and I from MI. We will not willing live up north ever again. We might visit but only in the summer.
One thing being a military wife taught me is that you blossom where you are planted. I suggest you do some research and them visit the area. If you decide to come visit north east FL let me know and we will meet up.

We have lived in GA for the last 15 years or so. I am from MI and DH is from PA. I have always been Momma, DH is mostly Daddy but I have teenagers now so sometimes it is father or dad. It just depends on their mood. I would prefer they refer to me as Her Royal Highness Princess of My Destiny, but it is not gonna happen. I prefer princess because queens are old and dowdy. I don't wish to be called old and dowdy. Princesses are young and beautiful. I am young and beautiful. They don't agree. I should have sold them when I had the chance.

Define purse. I have 4 or 5 in rotation currently. Some are just wristlets, and then I also have a Navy Coach, a grey and white chevron Dooney, and a straw bag from Old Navy. I also have an Otter Box phone case that will carry my license and 2 additional cards. It just depends on what and where I am going. I have a bunch in storage bins under my bed too if those are not what I need that day. I love purses and wallets.

He lives in my hometown, is married with 2 kids. He currently is working at the local Sears and is supposed to start as a FedEx driver soon. Kind of dodged a bullet with him. Our lives have turned out very differently.
Now, the guy who was my best buddy in high school is the 1 I would like to find. Lout touch with him his senior year of college. Last I heard he was a professor at a college in Indiana. He has a very common name. We hooked up once when I was on leave from the Navy, but lost touch soon after.
It's all good though. As I have gotten older and wiser I realize I married the best man for me. I love him dearly and he loves me. I recently got a visit from a guy I dated briefly before meeting Dh. He is a good man, but my life would have been drastically different with him.
Yep, made the right decisions.

Not really sure about the catch, but from my research they seem to be one of the feW if not the only one that still does unlimited data. So far they haven't made me give up my 12 year old family share plan with unlimited data. We have all upgraded our phones several times too. My latest phone only cost me .96 at Sams club. It is a Galaxy S4. Three of the five of us have them.
We have been very satisfied with Sprint. We initially went with them because they were the only company at the time that had a BlackBerry without a camera. DH could not have a camera on his phone for work. Now he just can't have a phone at all at work. If they want him to carry a phone they issue him a flip phone. We just stayed with them and they have been good.

I remember it well and don't really miss the mean girl pile ons that were the cause of it. I saw the whole situation in a different light than someone 'faking' their own death. Sass was a good person playing out of her league. She was ill equipped to play on the same level as some of the people on the old board. I like this gentler version better.

Couldn't graduate Navy boot camp if I couldn't make a regulation bed to include. Folding down exactly 6 inches of the top sheet. Of course my mom and dad made us make the bed regulation style when growing up. Long Navy tradition in this family. Now the bottom gets tucked and the corner news are made, but I leave the sides untucked.

My Dd bought a North Face. It is teal and she loves it. She is in downtown Atlanta and walks everywhere. She claims it is perfect. I think she spent $65 on it. She must be my daughter's twin! DD has the teal North Face and is downtown Atlanta and walks everywhere and claims it's perfect. Dd is at Georgia State. Where is yours? They very well could be twinning.

My will be heading home on the 1st. We visited 2 weeks ago and brought home everything she didn't need, everything else will fit in her car. She has about a 5 hour drive to come home.
I am happy she will be home but also anxious. We have had an interesting 1st year of college. Hoping the new norm will continue through the summer.

Hoping to have pictures in a couple of weeks. DD'S guy asked her to go,but informed her after we bought the dress and his flower that they may not go afterall.
It seems he applied for some scholarship and if he wins he has to go to Atlanta to play in a concert the same night. I wish he had told her about the scholarship before he asked her. She is a freshman, so she can't just go with friends. She is so disappointed. We will know on Wed.
I know he needs the money for college, but dang it he made my baby girl cry.

Farther back than Ladystars even. There was this crazy woman who used to buy torn bear paper piecings from EBAY. She would drive up the price like crazy. She would pay $200+ for these bears. The peas noticed it was the same woman buying them and a thread got started. As usual the woman showed up on the thread and the pile on began. She threatened to sew everyone and to file harassment charges with the Altoona police. It was classic two peas drama. She claimed she was wealthy and could afford whatever she wanted, posted pictures of her fancy watch and home. It was classic.

My friend's daughter got arrested for eating chicken from the deli. Her and her friend got 10 days in County lock up. The judge decided to make an example out of them. If more places did this it would not be as prevalent.

I feel you. I am tired. Tired of being the strong one tired of explaining why dad isn't there I'm just tired. I hear you on the FRG. We had one, it was disbanded right before the deployment because the president is a psycho b**** from hell. She's now stalking me and several others. By stalking I mean driving through our neighborhoods. She doesn't know anybody in my neighborhood but it doesn't stop her from driving by my house about 3 times a week.
usually Dh, makes arrangements to have flowers sent, leaves cards and letters for us, and during deployments that are over holidays gifts and such. Well this time he's gone for Christmas Thanksgiving Halloween god knows how many more holidays and we got nothing. He's at a level now in his career that if something tragic were to happen they may or may not send him home even if I did request presents for a Red Cross message. He has to leave on the books as a matter of fact by the time he's home he's probably going to lose 10 days.
it sucks I hear you. And yeah we chose this life but that doesn't mean we always like it. I've always tried to grow where I was planted but like I said earlier I'm tired. I'm like that plant in the garden but it slipped past its lifetime. I'm counting the days to retirement we're at 27 years.my girls are in college and high school and sometimes that makes it even harder because they do know what's going on at this point.
it used to be when they were little I could play it off for the most part. We didn't have daddy dolls and all the other stuff they do for kids now we just got through we made chains that they took a link off every day until he was home. But now well they're older and they don't buy that bullshit.
when is gone we get very little if any communication from him we have a email but that's about it submarines don't have telephones that reach the land. It sucks.I've enjoyed being a Navy wife I wouldn't trade this life that I've had for anything in the world. My husband has seen some pretty cool stuff me I raise the babies.
all this to say girl I'm right there with you I've had just about as much fun as I can take and I'm ready for the fun to be over. I'm ready to retire to some beach somewhere.
go do something for yourself and try to have a Merry Christmas we're doing the best we can here. Hang in there the light is at the end of the tunnel and I promise its not a freight train.

I saw him in October in Jacksonville Florida. He did 6 shows I believe in Jacksonville and the show we went to was I believe the 5th. It was a much smaller venue because fewer tickets were sold for the show. I saw the entire show.I was 12 year up from the floor and about seven rows back from the front of that level with no one in front of me.
He performed most of his old songs, and one of his songs off his new album that came out this month. He played for two and a half hours with about a half an hour break in the middle for Trisha Yearwood to do six songs.one of the members of his band opened for him. She had written songs for Tricia and others.
The last time I saw him he was 33. Just like me he's put on some pounds since then, and unlike me his hair has gotten a little thinner. To me he was still as amazing as he was back in 1993.he was very energetic but he has slowed down some.as always he was very appreciative of his fans.
