Can you elaborate? I’d like to get a sous vide. Restaurant Prime Rib (the really GOOD kind) uses an oven called an Alto-Shaam. This cooks the Prime Rib really slowly, and holds it at the temp it is set to. They put the Prime Rib in the night before and set it to a rare temp. It can cook, then hold it at that temp for 24 hours. That makes the Prime Rib amazing! Of course it has to be a high quality cut of meat for that most excellent meal! Sous Vide is somewhat similar, in the fact that it can cook and hold food to a certain temp. You seal the cut of meat in a plastic bag. You can get sous vide bags, or use a freezer zip bag. I prefer the food storage bags that you vacuum seal. You want all the air out, so it will not float in the water bath. The Sous Vide stick will bring the water temp up to the degree you specify and circulate the water. Prime Rib would go for 8-12 hours in a Sous Vide. If you want a sear on the outside, you can broil, grill, or sear it after you remove it from the Sous Vide bag. I do mine really rare, then it cooks a bit more with the sear. Sometimes I do not sear, and it will cook it to Medium Rare - tastes great either way. If you need a slice more well done - just put it on a heat safe plate and broil a bit in your oven. You can set the temp to whatever doneness you want your Prime Rib - but Rare is good and you can always cook a bit more under the broiler for those who don't do rare. ** You can over-cook meat in a Sous Vide. It will still be the temp you set it at, but it can get too tender, believe it or not. It starts to get a mushy texture if way over cooked in Sous Vide.

I tried this, but couldn't get his phone to show so must be missing a step. He will have to do this with his phone: Open the Find My app and select the People tab. Tap the Add button . Select Share My Location. Enter the name or phone number of the person that you want to share your location with. Select Send. Choose to share your location for One Hour, Until End of Day, or Share Indefinitely. He needs to have Family Sharing turned on as well. You do not need family sharing on.

"Find My" on the iPhone. You have it on your iPhones already. They don't have to be on your plan. I have a couple friends that sent me theirs, so if they lose their phone, we can use mine to search. They aren't even on the same carrier that I am. You can always see their location when you look at it.
Works great. I lost my phone in a river bottom pasture in tall grass. No ringer on, phone was face down... but using my husbands phone I was able to drive my Gator around until I was right on top of it. Whew! Wouldn't have found it until that pasture was grazed down, and it would have been toast by then. I use it for my AirPods too.

One year DH got pissy about what I was spending. He didn't have a clue, BTW That's the one thing DH never questions. He doesn't want to know - but he doesn't question. LOL If he gets involved in picking things out, he is forever getting the most expensive option.

I have lost enthusiasm over the years. I think some of that is just me getting older. I have alsways been a SAHM, but when the kids were young I actually stayed at home! Now I am pretty much full time on the farm/ranch - so I am working long days from August through November. December is book work and end of the year stuff, and that just kills all the joy. Blech. DH has never really done much for Christmas, but he has given me many nice gifts over the years for Christmas. I am to the point now where I don't really want anything. I'm full. I don't like jewelry. I don't want more stuff to sit around. So now I get things like a new Deere mower (the BIG whopper!). He gave me a pickup one year. One year I got a rifle (but I actually asked for that one). I know some of these things are tax right offs, but damn. I'm good with that! LOL Tonight I was wrapping presents. I asked him if he wanted to know what 'he' was giving everyone, since I put both our names on presents. He said "Oh no - I like being surprised" ...HA! This still makes me laugh.

I suggested this on a different thread, but these battery jump packs are SO nice to have. You can get different amperage size, depending on your need. The one I have pictured/linked will start normal cars and trucks easily - up to 20 times on one charge! They re-charge fast and also have a flash light and USB chargers in them to charge devices/phones too. You can get smaller amp or different brands for less. My husband has the really big amp ones and he starts tractors with them! But they are small, so you can pop it in your glove box. Jump Start battery

Be careful purchasing gift cards as some have been used already. I saw a newsblurb where people were stealing the gift cards - opening them up to get the activation code, the resealing them to look like they were never opened. Then, when purchased, the card was activated and they had the numbers off them so they could then spend them. Something about they would run the gift card numbers through a couple times a day to see if they had been activated. So you don't want to grab a gift card that has been hanging out in the open!

I used to love potato chips, but it seems anymore they just taste awful. I guess that's what healthy tastes like - But ever since they banned transfats, etc., yuck. Nothing tastes good anymore. Remember how good McDonalds fries used to be, until it was leaked that they cooked them in beef tallow. Which is probably better than a lot of the manufactured/processed oils, but not to keen for vegetarians and others who do not eat beef, I get that. But potato chips in particular lately are just awful. I loved Ruffles. The last bag I bought, I threw it out. Nasty. I bought some Club Cracker Crisps to have on hand for the Holidays. I'm going to have to get some more! I have found my chip replacement! Oh lord they are GOOOD! Just plain, I don't need anything with them. I'm going to need to pace myself.

Does she have a car? These are my go to gifts this year: They are small batteries, but enough power to jump start a car. Depending on the amperage you get, most can start a car many times over, before needing a charge. They can also charge cell phones and other devices, and many have a built in flashlight. Easy to use, and pretty foolproof. Even if you are not familiar with jump starting - these are easy to use. Easy and fast UBS chargers to recharge them. My husband has a couple of the really large amp ones to start massive tractors with, and they are small enough to pickup in your hand. He says everyone should have one of these. I've seen prices from $50 on up. The one I am gifting this year, for general car/light truck users is this one: NOCO Boost

For me, I think that the busyness of getting it all together before Christmas and then making the day special for everyone is just a lot. I often wonder if we just make it harder than it needs to be, in order for it to be perfect. Yet it is never quite as perfect as it was when we were kids. And looking back, it was far from perfect I don't think I ever got what I had on my Santa list - but what I got was just perfect! Now it seems that kids have lists, and it MUST be that item. And maybe it isn't the "kids list" but the list that their parents make for them? I am lucky that my kids let me get what I want for my grandkids. I do consult a little, to make sure they don't have it already. I agree with them to not go crazy. Just a couple things that are fun to play with and maybe an outfit. We put the majority of money into an investment account for them. So maybe I spend around $100 per grandkid and we invest $1000 on their birthday and $1000 at Christmas in their accounts. I feel like we are so lucky to be able to do that for them. My inlaws did this and my kids have a nice nest egg. None of them have dipped into yet, and it continues to grow nicely every year.

That is so funny! I pride myself on my tech savvy... but sometimes I have to go in a dark room and google how to do things. LOL I still have the 12 Max Pro, but I love it. Best thing I did was change my camera and video settings to the highest quality possible. I did put a case on right away, but didn't put the glass cover on. Dammit - scratched it within a couple days. Why do I think I can have nice things?

Funny to see this - I have ribs in my oven now for dinner (that is lunch for you non-Midwestern folks) Mine are pretty much made in a way everyone tells you not to do, but everyone that has ever had them say they are the best they've ever had. LOL I buy good quality baby back ribs. Hormel is the brand I prefer. Open the package and pat the liquid off with a paper towel. Flip the ribs over so the bone side is showing (the back side). Take a dull knife like a table/butter knife and push it under the 'silverskin' at a bone. Gently push that dull knife under the silver skin until you have enough popped up to grab it. It is much easier to grab and peel it off if you use a paper towel to hold it. It's slippery! One you have the silverskin off, I like to season mine lightly. If your seasoning is salt based, and most are, go easy on it or you will have some really salty ribs. I sometimes use a bit of liquid smoke, but go easy on that. No more than a 1/2 teaspoon per side, or less. You can also use hickory smoke salt or other seasoning that has smoke flavor to it - but go easy if it is salt. Don't over do the smoke flavor. My favorite seasoning for ribs right now is the Pampered Chef Smokey Barbeque - but there are SO many good rubs out there. Again - I don't go crazy thick on this stuff. A light sprinkle on both sides. I then take about a half cup of my favorite BBQ sauce and brush both sides and edges. You could mix the seasonings and everything up in this and do it all at once. You don't need to coat it thick - we will do more sauce later. I first wrap in parchement paper, then wrap in heavy aluminum foil. You want big heavy foil. After I have it wrapped in both, I put on a big sheet pan. I bake at 300º for 2.5 to 3 hours. Low/Slow. About 15 minutes before I serve, I unwrap and broil. You want to watch the parchment paper so it doesn't go up in flames. Either remove it, or trim it way back. The ribs will have quite a bit of moisture in them, so be careful unwrapping. I use the foil/parchment to make a cradle for them. I start brushing my sauce on them and use the broil feature of my oven. I have a 'low broil' setting and that works great - but whatever you do, keep an eye on them. It can go from perfect, to BLACK pretty fast if you have them too close to the broiler. I keep adding a new light layer of sauce and broil a bit to caramelize that sauce. Mine are totally fall off the bone tender, so it can be a bit difficult to remove them from the pan. I cut them into 1 or 2 bone sections and move to a serving platter. I usually go ahead and make 2 racks, if I am serving more than 2 people. And these go GREAT with a baked potato! LOL Of note: ribs should NOT fall off the bone. They should pull away easily, but have some bite to them. If they fall off the bone, they are overdone. I know this is the standard for competition ribs, but from "real life" ... everyone LOVES and RAVES about the fall off the bone ribs I make. They are not dry. These are the ribs I buy. They are packed in a brine solution (a lot of pork is).. this is why I back off drastically on any salt based rubs. A little is OK, but man - it can get really salty if you go overboard. The packer brine solution makes them really tender and tasty though! Pork Tenderloins are packed this way too.

So I am seeing everything today mentioning The 12 Days of Christmas, because I guess it is 12 days until Christmas - yikes! But honestly - The Twelve Days of Christmas doesn't start until December 25! December 25th is The First Day of Christmas. The 12th day of Christmas is January 6th, the Epiphany. I am not a practicing Christian, but to me, that is how Christmas is. Now days, it seems like Christmas starts the day after Halloween, and by December 26, people have everything down and put away. I'd be sick of it too by then, if I put it up in early November - lol But I love to enjoy "Christmas" once the big rush of getting ready for it is over. The somewhat quiet days between Christmas and New Years ... which really aren't that quiet for us on the farm, because that is the last days we can get our inputs purchased for tax reasons. Make me nuts! LOL I love it when everyone is home and little kids are racing around. But I love it when they pack up and leave, I have the mess put away and I can sit quietly and enjoy the memories. Welp.. that's my rant.... the Twelve Days of Christmas doesn't start until December 25th!

Oh no! The trauma for her makes me nearly weep. It is such a shock to the system and so hard to get off your mind for many years.
I witness a shooting, but not nearly as close quarters as your granddaughter nor did I personally know the victims, and it would flash up on me at times for years afterwards. I can only imagine how it will be for her. My thoughts are with you and I hope comfort for her.

I only use Hobby Lobby wrapping paper if I can. It is so nice!
But everything seems to be of the cheapest quality anymore.
I unwrapped some old silver silverware that was packed up in my china hutch. One of my old aunts had stashed it in there years (decades?) ago ( it was her hutch). I unwrapped it to see what pattern it was and was AMAZED at how thick and pliable that plastic wrap was. And she wasn't one to go buy anything expensive, so I know it was the cheapest one from the grocery store. Man, I wish I could get some like that now! I get Sam's clear cling wrap, and it was always good, but it's not nearly as good as it used to be.
Aluminum foil is the same. I never buy regular - it's so thin! I get the heavy duty, and even that is pretty thin how. You used to be able to practically build something structural with it! LOL

I have had a couple things I ordered from Etsy that never showed up. I am sure one of them was a flaky seller that was from China, but I didn't realize that at the time.
I contacted Etsy and was refunded.
I had a couple other things I ordered through Facebook that were a Chinese seller situation (before I knew better - "if it is too good to be true" kind of situation) and PayPal refunded me. I know better now - lol

My nephew-in-law owns a quartz company. He installed mine in my last house. He recommended using a cutting board under the crockpot. He said do not place hot pans directly on the quartz. My friend had a brand new countertop and used her crockpot. It left a terrible mark, she was just sick about it. I have seen people get a cutting board with little bun feet that elevates it slightly - that way there is air movement under the cutting board - just keeps it a little cooler.

First off - it needs to be a Russet potato! Those are the best for baked potatoes. Never use red ones.
I love them in my air fryer. It's the same process as the oven, it just is quicker, and I'm not heating my whole oven for a couple potatoes.
I wash and dry, oil and salt, and put in my air fryer for about 30 minutes. Longer for a really large potato. Check with a thin bladed knife to see if done. I always forget to poke mine before cooking, but you should do that.

I hold the tissue in the middle with my fingers (making a pointed end) and kind of *shake* it. I put 3 or so in the gift bag with the pointed end into the bag. Does that make any sense? Is that what you needed to know? If I am in a boujee mood ... I iron my tissue paper. LOL It really looks nice. Doesn't always happen, but if I have time I do that.

but have you had Stouffer's lasagna lately? My SIL made one not that long ago and it was terrible. I've always thought Stauffer's was beyond terrible! I can make a lasagna quicker than I can go to Costco! LOL Even if I lived in a town that had a Costco (I have to travel a minimum of 2.5 hours) ... Have you tried the no-boil noodles? You can even do regular noodles without cooking them. I prefer the regular over the no-boil. Do add a little extra water to your sauce if you are not cooking the noodles first. You can prep it a day or two ahead and leave in fridge until you are ready to bake it. You can also freeze it, if you are way ahead of when you need it. Put frozen lasagna in the fridge the day before you need it to thaw. Then bake regular. I am not a lasagna purist though. I use store brand spaghetti sauce and cottage cheese instead of ricotta.

And yet they do nothing to save a VIABLE child, outside the womb, in a CLASSROOM! NOTHING. Thoughts and prayers, I guess.
And I am a gun owner who does not want a lot of government interference with my guns - but COME ON! They can't stick their heads in the sand over kids getting murdered by guns in schools (and elsewhere) but have a conniption fit about a woman's right to choose.

I have been a Keurig gal since they came out. But last last few have soured me on them. I went through 3 in very short succession. Each one replaced by warranty, but what a pain. I switched to a Ninja Dual Brew and I LOVE it so much! It can do a lot of things, but I admit I pretty much only use the KCups. But you can also easily switch to grounds. It also has a hot water features, which all the machines can pretty much do, but this one can do up 60 ounces at a time! It can do Hot or Boil, so if you need really hot water fast - it's great. It has a frother, but I don't use it. It's $179.99 if you use the code DEC22 (until December 14), but I paid $140 for mine a few months ago. Amazon and Target have it for $179.99 also. It has the multi-stream brew for KCups that make them taste so much better. Which is what I liked the KSupreme for -but damn, it would take month to burn out a machine. We love iced tea made with it. I use TAZO black tea KCups and just brew a 12 ounce and sometimes brew another small brew off the same cup, into the carafe, then I pour over ice in a pitcher. Best iced tea!! Ninja Dual BrewI really wanted to get a Nespresso machine, but still love my Ninja Dual Brew, so I got the Essenza Mini. LOVE IT! It's tiny, so it doesn't take up much counter space, and if you wanted to put it away in a cabinet, you could easily. It is super simple to use. I mostly make latte's with it. Nespresso EssenzaThis milk frother is great, and not so expensive as some. It does 2 types of hot froth, one really frothy, one light froth, it also has just a heat selection, for lattes, and a cold froth. It really works great! I've had mine a few years. Miroco Frother
