We have purchased brand new homes twice. Currently we are in a 30 year old home in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Our house had been renovated and updated before we purchased it seven years ago. With a brand new home you have a lot of up front costs...landscaping, irrigation, deck, fence, window coverings, possible basement finishing, etc. With an older home you have stuff like roof, windows, eavestroughs, etc. So it’s expensive either way, there’s really no getting around it! I will say that in my city, we have had such a construction boom that the quality of new construction is generally inferior to that of existing older homes. Unless, of course, you build a custom home with an excellent builder.

This makes me sad. Venice is such a magical city. It’s hard to believe that with all that acqua alta life just carries on as normal!

I think the sterling silver greenhouse is kinda cool. I tried to interest my husband in the motorcycle, but no dice 😂

My daughter has attended a private school since kindergarten (she’s now in grade 12) that has a no phone policy for all kids in all grades, meaning phones are to be kept in lockers during the day. Of course, as the kids get into the upper grades they usually have their phones on them, but in silent mode. Some teachers are stricter about enforcing the rule than others. I’ve never had a problem with it. Of course, if she needs to reach me she can use the phone in the office.

I don’t understand something. Doesn’t the anonymous author supposedly detail conversations he/she had with Trump? Won’t that make it relatively easy to figure out who he/she is? I heard on the news that he (or she) deliberately clouded some of the events/conversations, in order to stay unidentifiable. Makes perfect sense, I hadn’t heard that.

I think you would be giving him too much credit... I don’t think he has any idea what words come out of his mouth about a nano second after they leave his lips. And by the time it becomes news he claims he said something different. I cannot imagine him accurately recalling a conversation the next day, let alone months or years later. And anyone around him would have to have their head spinning 24/7 trying to keep up with all versions of any story he is involved in IMO. You’re totally right 😂

I ordered a couple Christmas gifts for my daughter - the Milk Makeup MVPs set and the Morphe Jeffree Star eye brush collection. Now I just need to prevent her from buying them for herself before Christmas. I had the Pat Magrath Labs eyeshadow quad in my cart too but at $86 (even with 15% off) it seems like a LOT of money. The colours in the Nocturnal Nirvana quad are stunning though. I Really want to love Pat Magrath stuff but it just doesn't do anything for me when I put it on (if that helps you any?) Thanks! My daughter and I definitely don’t need more makeup, so if you could save me from myself, that would be great 😂

If they, as legal adults, want to drink, they will drink. Set expectations, lay ground rules, have discussions, but the bottom line is that they can’t be prevented from drinking (unless the bar/restaurant declines to serve them). I think it’s naive for anyone to think that you can do anything to prevent a legal adult from drinking. And as legal adults, they are responsible for themselves, their behaviour, and any consequences that may arise. That is the conversation I’d be having with the travellers and their parents.

Not if they’re conversations where more than 1 person was present/listening in. Also I would not be surprised if this person changed key info about those convos. Things like gender of others present or whoever was being spoken about. Or subtle changes to the actual topic. Like if they were discussing the color purple, maybe instead of saying the shade of plumb, it’s changed to lavender. Both still purple, but not quite the same. Makes sense! 👍🏻

Well last year I did nothing because we went away for the holidays, so this year I’m looking forward to decorating and baking. I’m going to decorate our outside fireplace with a wreath and garland, since we can see it out the family room windows. And I think I may get a new tree, a tall slim one.

I may have watched 3 episodes last night. I really need to start stretching my shows out to make them last longer. I really don't do network TV at all any more, so I feel like I have short periods of binge watching followed by long periods of nothing to watch. Anyway, the first 3 episodes were great. Can't wait to watch more! This is what we started doing. The new season of Peaky Blinders is only 6 episodes, so we watch one every weekend. I’m actually enjoying stretching it out. I usually rewatch the episode during the week with subtitles on because their accents are so thick I feel like I miss some stuff 🤣

There are lots of keto friendly sweeteners and tons of recipes that will allow you to eat treats and not feel deprived without eating sugar. And you will be amazed by how good you feel when you can get sugar out of your diet. Don't take this the wrong way but in my opinion switching cane sugar out for fake sugar isn't going to help. You are still feeding the brains sugar needs. And who is to say in the long run these fake sugars are healthy? People jumped on sweet n low and that other non sugar and look what happened? I guess from my perspective if I am able to eliminate sugar by replacing it with a plant based substitute that doesn’t cause an insulin reaction in my body, that’s a win. Being able to treat yourself occasionally without getting back into that whole sugar addiction cycle makes a low carb diet much more sustainable for the long term. Do do you feel the same way about subbing nut flours and other “fake” flours for wheat flour?

Ok here goes. My husband is a chef. I like my beef medium well done +. He knows this but he always makes mine rare 🤬 I like Kraft Dinner and Stovetop stuffing. Oh, and Pop Tarts. We are keto so that stuff isn’t on the menu, but I would eat like garbage if I could 🤪

I enjoyed weed a bit in college back in the late 1970's and early 1980's but stopped and didn't try it again until last year when my neurologist suggested I try getting my medical marijuana card to help with my migraines. I can't begin to tell you how much it has helped me with my migraines in the last year. It has made an incredible difference in helping me not only prevent my migraines but also to stop the pain when I get them. Because my insurance was limiting the pharmacuitical meds that stopped my migraines to 6 per month and I was having migraines every other day to every day (15 to 25 per month) 6 meds per month weren't nearly enough. Medical marijuana saved me so much in pain, frustration and anxiety. My favorite way to enjoy MM is to use oil filled cartridges to vaporize it but since the problems lately (which have only occured in folks using product bought on the street) I'm now turning to vaporizing flower-another term for weed. You don't have to smoke flower. You can also vaporize it using special vaporizer units that are made just for this purpose. That way it's healthier for your body because you are inhaling vapor instead of smoke. You can buy a vaporizer online from $60.00 to over $250.00. A very helpful site for all things about this subject (weed) is leafly.com Edibles are very strong since they are concentrated and take awhile to hit the body since they have to go through the digestive system. The effect also lasts longer-4-5 hours so it's very important to start very slowly with these. Different strains give different effects and leafly.com is a great place to research different strains. It is very individual too though-different people will have different experiences with different strains. I've found for my migraines what works for one person wonderfully doesn't work for me and vise-versa. All strains have terepenes and it's the terepenes that have the different effects and properties. Belgravia-Humulene is the terpene that is an antiinflammatory and it can be found in the strains Girl Scout Cookies, White Widow and Sour Diesel. If you go to a dispensary the budtenders (that's what they call the people who work there) will help you find what you need. Just tell them you are looking for a strain that helps and is an antiinflammatory. In addition to helping me with my migraines I've really been enjoying using weed again. It relaxes me at night (one of the biggest triggers for my migraines is stress) and I don't drink at all so for me this is all I need. I'm so grateful it's been made legal again in my state at least for medical purposes. Thanks for this info! I just had lunch with a friend who wants me to go with her to a pot shop next week, so I’ll check into those strains.
