When we got our Golden retriever, my mother wanted to name her Duchess. I wanted Libby. So when we registered her, her name was Duchess Elizabeth of <last name> called Libby

That doesn't sound right... They will deny it of course. And I don’t think it is right. When you hand them your drivers license for that test drive, they run the complete check on you. I know a couple of realtors who do the same thing. My husband is a salesman at one of the largest dealers in our state, and he said that this is absolutely untrue. Even if it wasn't illegal and unethical, they don't have the time.

It is going to be extremely hard for me to give up our 1999 Grand Caravan when it dies. That van was given to me, fully paid for and with only 9000 miles on it, by my grandfather in 2002. My husband and I had just found out 8 days earlier that I was pregnant with twins and looking into buying a van when my uncle, who took care of my grandfather, passed away and my grandfather needed to go into a nursing home. Not only am I attached because of all it's been through with us, but because of how I got it.

My husband's "language" is movie/TV quotes, so all of the above and many, many more!

I feel your pain...my mother is exactly the same. My brother is the golden child who can do no wrong despite basically being a screw up. I was the good girl who can't do anything right in her eyes. She only treats me kindly if it brings her attention or recognition. She relished the grandkids I gave her until they didn't bring her attention anymore. Now that they are teens, she rarely interacts with them. It's hard not to think about why I am never good enough. I can't think of a time I felt genuine love from her.

I do, but then my dad is a mechanic who was on several race teams, so I know how to do quite a bit on cars. When I was a kid, if I wanted to spend time with him, it was out in the garage.

My worst gifts were nine of the cutesy wedding themed photo frames from Hallmark. I kept the one I liked best, and regifted the others. The worst of the worst was from my MIL. She gave us one of those seen on TV pans for cooking pancakes. You know, the ones with a "lid" so you don't need a spatula to flip, you just flip the pan. I used it once, and the perfect pancakes from the commercial were obviously TV magic

My vent? My DH got a raise. I assume because of taxes, he now brings home $250 less a month. When we have been working so hard to pull ourselves out of a tough spot, $250 is a LOT of money that seems super weird. Did his 401 k contribution raise since it is a percentage? I'd look over those paystubs both before and after with a fine tooth comb The only deductions he has are taxes. He isn't offered a 401k, and we don't get insurance through his job. His district manager is in the building today, so hopefully he will be able to get it figured out.

Mine is alcohol of any kind. The Halloween after I turned 21, I mentioned to my friend that I'd like to try a Long Island iced tea. In about an hour's time I sucked down three, plus at least four other drinks because the friends I was with thought it was funny to keep giving them to me. I passed out on the table and woke up just in time to vomit everywhere. It's been 20 years, and I still can remember the hangover that took almost three days to go away!

My DD was diagnosed with a 47 degree curve when she was 15. Since she wasn't finished growing, she needed to have surgery. She's now a year post surgery and has no problems other than a little loss of flexibility. It was scary for me, but it went incredibly well and she bounced back quickly.
If there is less than a 45 degree curve, they will just keep an eye on it's progression. If it looks like it's worsening, they will fit for a brace. Surgery isn't recommended until 45 degrees.

I used it at Christmas time. The $50 kindle fire I was planning to give my DS for a gift was out of stock until two weeks after Christmas. I checked the Now app, and had one in an hour! Loved it, but haven't used it since

I live in the same house as my mother, and she shows very little interest in my kids now that she isn't able to dress them in matching outfits and get herself attention. Even when they were small, she acted like she was doing us an immense favor by watching the kids so DH and I could go out to dinner. She took them for a weekend only once in their entire lives.
My dad is the opposite. He's not much of a small kid person, yet he is getting a kick out of hanging out with them now that are older.

I was in my early 20's when I realized that you could make mashed potatoes out of real potatoes! My mom was not a good cook and always made mashed potatoes from those potato flakes from a box. I was at my now husbands house and his mom was making mashed potatoes from real potatoes. It totally blew my mind!! My DH was 34 when he found this out! Around the same time he found out that food that came in a can didn't have to taste like a can. His mom is not a very good cook

Not in a purse, but a book I bought at Goodwill had someone's paycheck stub tucked in like it had been used as a bookmark. He's lucky I'm not dishonest because it had his full social security number on it.

I'm not fond of Aldi. There are quite a few around us, and they are all at least a third of the size of my regular grocery store. Plus, a third of that is non grocery items like lawn furniture and toys. The fresh food selection is too small for a family of six. I will go occasionally for fruit and vegetables because they are cheaper, but the quality is usually hit or miss.

If you are using it for dipping, I'd go with the 4oz cup. A 2oz cup is the size salad dressing comes in when you order a salad.

I thought it was good. I noticed also that everyone seemed so unaffected emotionally.
I had tears, but the bit that made me cry the most was when Tony passed the title of Very Special Agent to McGee.

Ours doesn't, usually. They started recommending blood tests for cholesterol once the kids got to age 14.

Our application for a payment plan with the hospital has been sent back for the 8th time in six months! I can't tell if they are just incredibly picky (they wanted copies of all the blank pages of our bank statement), or are trying to wear us down so that we give up and they can send this bill to collections. I don't understand why we are having so much trouble getting a PAYMENT plan. We aren't asking them to dismiss the bill; we will pay it. We just can't pay it in one lump sum like they prefer. I've applied for much bigger things before and never had to jump through so many hoops! Even if you are on a payment plan, they CAN still report it on your credit history--it just has to be true. They can state that your bill is 6 months past due, and legally be within their rights even if you are in a payment plan I guess I don't understand what you're commenting on. I'm not concerned about my credit report at this time, nor did I mention it. I want to pay a bill that I owe. The hospital will only accept a full payment unless you are on a payment plan, which we are attempting to set up. But when we keep getting the application back for reasons like blank pages needing to be copied and needing copies of our mortgage papers and property tax forms (which we don't have because we rent, and stated that), I think frustration is warranted. Especially since I could have had it paid off by now. But, they will return any payment if it's less than the full amount unless you are on a payment plan. The problem I dealt with today is that the bank account numbers on our tax return don't match our bank statement. After hours of speaking to my bank and then tracking down my CPA who was on vacation, I found out that the numbers they are so concerned about are IRS routing numbers for direct deposit. They were thinking that we were hiding bank accounts, which is not the case.

My Dodge Grand Caravan is the Family Truckster.
My DH's is Daddy Car. Our DS named it that when he was a toddler. He even sang a little song he made up about "Daddy Car".

DD#1 is Shelby and has been Shelbelle since she was a toddler. Lately though, I've been calling her Turtle Shell. She had a spinal fusion and when she lays on her back, she gets stuck like a turtle on it's back. I thought it was cute. Her, not so much My twins are Schmoo and Doodle...together they are Schmoodle My son has always been The Boy or Buddy.

My DH started a new job 6 months ago and it was supposed to make life better. Unfortunately, even though he has gotten through training, he can't make his full salary and bonuses until he takes the three final tests. The tests are each only held once a month and they are so backed up that it could be months more before he can take the tests. We are trying to survive on 2/3 of his previous pay. My 17 year old car, that we were hoping to replace with job, just had $1400 worth of work on it and is now dripping oil. So now we are back to job hunting for DH, and I am trying to figure out how to get less money to stretch even further.

I tried Costco and the price was about $100 higher than just going to the car rental's website. I don't know if I did something wrong, but I was quite shocked that it was so much higher.

I'm testy because no matter how much weight I lose, I will never be a size 4. I've come to believe that my bones by themselves are a size 8. I have never been smaller than that, even when I got down to 135 pounds at 5'11".

Stick to your guns. It's worth it. I truly had very little self-respect until I had kids. I knew that they would model their behavior on what I said and did, so I learned to behave like I deserved respect and then to insist on being shown it. I would not hesitate to apologize for any harm I had caused or offense I had given deliberately, but I'd be damned before I'd give an apology just because some asshat was demanding it. I would also be having some serious conversations with my mom, especially if you have kids watching what's going on You know, I was always the reserved kid, too afraid to say boo to a goose. This situation has really taught me to stand up for myself. My mother's martyrdom and idolization of my brother dissipated when I started speaking my mind. Even if I had to yell to get her to hear me. I've always been honest with my kids. They know the deal. It's been really liberating to be able to say what I need to without fear, and my relationship with my mother has been so much better. I'm a little afraid that my brother being back in the picture will derail that. I can't/won't be that meek person again, though.
