My MIL isn't "bad", but she makes me scratch my head sometimes.
The visit that steams me the most is when she came to "help out" when my son was born. She arrived at 5am the day after I was released from the hospital after having a c-section. She never helped with anything. She sat on the couch and watched television the entire time she was here. A big deal was made on her part about finally getting to know her grandchildren. When I asked her to watch my twin 3 year olds and my newborn for 15 minutes so I could run up to the school and pick up my eldest from kindergarten though, she didn't think she could handle the responsibility. She made me wait on her hand and foot...still only days post c-section. She also refused to shower while she was here because she doesn't like to shower in strange places. Eight days with no shower! I finally told my husband that she had to go. She was supposed to stay three weeks, but I just couldn't take anymore. My birthday was 5 days after she arrived and she insisted that I cook her Kraft mac and cheese with hot dogs for dinner. I am so glad she lives far enough away that I only have to put up with phone calls.

I am so angry with my mother!
My husband and I bought this house with her because it was mutually beneficial. When we moved in, my oldest was 5 months old, and she was happy grandma. Since then, we've had a set of twins and one more. Now, she acts like she only tolerates having them around so she can brag to her friends that it's "such a joy" to have her grandkids so close. Seven years ago, it was her decision/choice to have the kids do an activity that she paid for. My oldest, with whom she has bonded with the most, does Irish dance. The school is 35 minutes from our house, so my mom has always taken her so I could deal with the younger kids. Over the last few weeks, my mom has decided on her own that she doesn't want to deal with it anymore and has pushed a great deal of the dance stuff to me. She'd rather sit and play Candy Crush. Last night, I insisted that my mom take my daughter to dance because I was too overwhelmed with everything else I had to do. My mother drives about a mile down the road and basically told my daughter "forget it" and came home. My daughter is veryinvolved with dance. She joined the competition team, and last night was a team class, and there is strict commitment involved. How on earth am I supposed to teach my children to honor their commitments if my mother is going to be teaching them how to flake out?
I wish we could move, but financially it's so not possible. I am so furious with my mother and her increasing narcissistic and selfish behavior.

I so need this post..... I have recently joined the workforce and have been hearing this expression/phrase an awful lot.... "do what?" I guess I know what it means...but it isn't really a thing is it? It seems to me that is used instead of excuse me?, pardon me?, what?, sorry, I didn't hear/understand you? Am I nuts?? My dh does this. I had never heard anyone use it until I met him. I don't know if it's regional; he's from Iowa and I'm from Minnesota.

We have hardwoods in our living room, dining room, hallway and stairs. There are rugs on all, and I HATE them!! They have an odor to them that has been there since right after we bought them. It has gotten worse even though I have had them professionally cleaned several times. Sometimes in the summer, the smell is so bad that we can hardly stand to be in the living room. I would take them up, but I have no place to store the 13x9 rug from the living room, and my dh won't let me get rid of them when they cost so much.

I am a MUCH better cook. My husband had never seen anyone make mashed potatoes from real potatoes and not from a box. He also didn't know that Spaghetti O's could be made and not taste like metal, and that fresh/frozen veggies were much more tasty than canned.

We met over the phone. I worked at a food distributor and he worked at one of the restaurants I called for food orders five hundred miles away. We talked on the phone at home for 5 months and got engaged the weekend we met. Our 15th wedding anniversary is in two weeks.

My mom, absolutely not. She is a nurse who worked the night shift for twenty years and never saw the need to wear makeup, jewelry or fashionable clothes. She has literally had the same hairstyle since 1984.
Me, I've tried as hard a possible to be the opposite. Sometimes it's hard though. Even when I'm casual, my mom will snip at me and ask why am I so "dressed up". Oh gee, Mom, maybe I don't feel like looking like I just rolled out of bed and put on mom jeans and a threadbare t-shirt. Sheesh.

Last year the same thing happened to my husband. Only his upper lip, and it swelled considerably. Turns out it was a reaction to one of his high blood pressure meds.

My parents were so much into their 50s and 60s music that me, born in the early 70s, had NO CLUE that any music existed beyond that point until 1985!! To this day, I can't tolerate too much of their music before I have to get away

Mine is that I want to catch up on previous seasons of my shows on Hulu and my internet is not strong enough to support it. They can't come out to do the upgrade until the 11th.

My schedule doesn't change much, we just add school. I actually prefer the school year because I thrive on routine. The loosy goosey of summer kind of stresses me out!

Yay, I'm excited! I've heard so much about Urban Decay on two peas, but haven't wanted to spend the $$ and not like it. Or like with the Bare Minerals 5-1 that made my eyes burn and itch.

I'm the neat one, husband and 4 kids are of the mind: "Mom likes it done, she'll just do it". Three weeks ago, I went on "strike". I made up a chore chart. Kids rotate weeks doing the bathroom, the dining room, vacuuming, and dusting. The three older kids each do dishes twice a week and the youngest empties the dishwasher. I do the laundry, the mopping and our mud/laundry room. Husband takes out the trash and recycling.
The first week took a lot of reminding and the kids lost their bonus, or allowance. The second week they worked harder, but only earned half of their bonus. We are on week three, and they are doing pretty well. Sometimes I still have to remind or call them back to finish, but not as much as the first week. It's been working for us so far. Hopefully once school starts and we are busier I will stick to my guns to make them keep it up! This week has been so much less stressful.

I definitely would choose something different. Mine was all satin but had cutouts that looked like lace and long sleeves. I could barely move my arms! I might change what shoes I wore too. My husband is only an inch and a half taller than me, so I wore Keds.

As soon as some people find out that my 14 year old son and daughter are twins, they ask if they are IDENTICAL. Still! After 14 years. Don't they LOOK different to you. I just smile and say no, she has an innie and he has an outie. I had a woman try very hard to convince me that boy/girl twins could be identical! She refused to believe that there was absolutely no way.

My 8 year old DS is recently gotten interested in Harry Potter. The other day at Goodwill, we found all seven books, hardcover and practically new, for $18. I also found a new, with tags, Columbia jacket for my DD for $2!
