My husband started making spiral hot dogs about 2 months ago. It's the only way he will grill hot dogs and the kids absolutely love them. The dogs are crispy and juicy. We use beef dogs.

I read the text messages that TMZ has. I've never had any experience with abusive and or controlling relationships but from reading the text it didn't feel like a message that an abuser would send. It seemed to me that it was heartfelt and from a person who was hurt by a cheating partner. On a side note, I had no idea a text could be that long!

Does he watch lots of crime tv shows like Forensic Files? Maybe he secretly freaks out about the possibility of you being kidnapped and is being protective? I watched an episode of Forensic Files about a teenage girl who was kidnapped and killed. The next day my daughter walked to a friend's house. It's a pretty long walk. I don't usually use the Find My Friends to track her but I was thinking of that tv show and then I freaked out so I obsessively used Find My Friends to track her walk to and from her friend's house. I went a little overboard! I have to not watch crime shows that involve teen girls.

We used Bay Medical for my mom. She didn't like wearing the necklace at first but after she got used to it she forgot about it. There are different types of systems. She never had to use it so I can't really say how good it is. Bay Medical link

I would take them with me.
Would you be able to purchase a cremation niche at a cemetery? That would be another option.
Good luck with your move and job hunting.

I'm pretty sure he is dead and the show is looking back from before he was shot by Charlie. On an episode of Talking Dead, Chris Hardwick said that the actor who plays Nick left the series to pursue other acting jobs.
I agree, it's very confusing and my husband is so confused that the show has made him mad. He probably won't watch it much anymore because he hates all the "backward looking" story. He's ready for The Walking Dead to return!

I thought she looked great today too. She wrote a children's book called Tea for Ruby. It was my daughter's favorite book and it's one that I have saved. My daughter's name is Ruby!

My 9 year-old dd looked at her wedding dress and said, "That's not very royal looking." I have to agree. It was a nice wedding gown but just too plain for a royal wedding. I did love the veil. It was beautiful.
There will probably be copies of the dress on store racks by tomorrow morning!

So, I went through my hoard supply of October Afternoon and discovered that I have the Summertime paper but not the puffy stickers, die cuts or journaling cards so I went ahead and ordered the deal from Peachy Cheap. It got me thinking about which lines I would most like to see again. I loved all of their collections.
The line I would like to see again would be Rocket Age because I was just getting to know October Afternoon at the time and I only bought a few papers from that collection. Which collection would you like to see again?

I'm 52 and I'm good friends with a gentleman who is 100 years old! Having a friend that is almost twice your age makes you feel young. He is amazing. He lives on his own and has a party every Tuesday night from 5:30 to 9:00. Usually between 20-30 people show up to his weekly party. He supplies all of the beer, wine and food. Even at 100 he drinks plenty of beer.
Every person that meets him asks how he has made it to 100. His answer is to try to be positive, see the beauty in simple things and most importantly, have lots of friends and go out and do things. Be as active as you can be. He has a calendar in his kitchen. Let me tell you, that old man has more social engagements than anyone I know. Not too long ago there was one week where there was only one free night/day! He doesn't let being blind on one eye and deaf in one ear slow him down. I agree with his philosophy but I do think good genes help him.

I love those books! I have two of them and they always gave me great quotes for my pages and cards. I know there are quote web sites like quote garden link which I like but those books always had an appropriate scrap page quote! I still scrap but I haven't made a page with a quote on it for a long time. Delta Dawn Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to get those books out and make a page with a quote!

Thanks Tammi, McCormick always is great. I'll try it! If you use vanilla in baking, I really recomend Louann's Butter Vanilla emulsion. It's $3.99 at Walmart in the cake decorating aisle, and I think $6 on Amazon. I brought cookies to a crop, and had the ladies (including lucyg ) taste-test it. Was preferred over costco vanilla amongst my neighbors and family, too. And yes, I paid $29.99 for that vanilla. A lady at costco a few years ago saw my vanilla in the cart and warned my husband and I to stock up! The crops are bad! The sky is falling! Vanilla will skyrocket! We joked for two years as vanilla remained at $9.99......until it was $29.99. She learned me! I've never heard of vanilla emulsions. I'm just googled it and I think I'll try it. I learn so much from this board! Thanks PrettyInPeank!

The chocolate/mint cookies and coconut/caramel cookies at Aldi's are just as good as Girl Scout thin mint and samoas. My girls and I did an experiement. We bought both and did a blind taste test. We either couldn't tell the difference or both brands were just as good as the other. Don't tell anyone that I'm a Brownie Leader!

I would not be hurt at all. I don't make a big deal out of birthdays. I guess it's because that's how I was raised. Mom never did parties or dinners or anything really. I just got a card and some money and all was good! So, yes it's time to pull out the big girl panties.

There is a corner market down the street from me. It's a very small, tight market. They make and sell small pizzas. One of the employees brings his dog to work with him. The dog is behind the counter. They are lucky somebody hasn't called the health department.
My youngest daughter is beyond scared of dogs. She was knocked down a set of concrete steps by a boxer. She was never crazy about dogs before that incident but now she is terrified of dogs. Terrified isn't a strong enough word. Her older sister plays soccer and it irks me when people feel entitled to bring their dog to the game. There are signs that state "no dogs" but they are ignored. About every third game there is some kind of altercation between dogs. It ranges from growling to outright dog fights. It's hard for us to find a place to set up our chairs because she refuses to sit next to someone with a dog. There have been times when we have to move because someone with a dog comes and sits next to us. It has become such a hassle that she doesn't even want to go to the games to watch her sister.
Why, oh why, do people bring dogs to soccer games (or any sporting event). It's not like they watch the game!
I have to be honest. When I was a child I was bitten by a "friendly" dog. I get a little nervous around large dogs but I don't show it.
ETA: The league president sends an email at the beginning of the season with location information, parking instructions. He includes park rules which covers the no dog rule.

I feel your pain! We're at 47 hours of the 50 we need and that has seemed like an eternity. It helps that my daughter's school is 40 minutes away (including picking up a friend) and during the winter the morning drive was in complete darkness, so we've covered most of the practice hours just to and from school. But since I do the car pool and not my husband, that has been all with me. It was a seriously stressful way to start the day most times. She's practiced maneuverability with her instructor and has passed it each time, so I don't think we're even going to practice that together. I just want it to be over already! Wow, I'm impressed. Your daughter must be driving through rush hour traffic in order to get to school. You must have nerves of steel. My 16 year-old is learning too. So far my husband has taken her out for most of the 11 hours that she has. I will only take her very, very early on Sunday mornings when there is hardly any traffic!

GamGam Please let us know if you like your new 2018 Speed Queen. The washer I have now is over 20 years old. It was here when we bought the house 20 years ago and it was at least a few years old then. It's starting to make an awful lot of noise in the spin cycle. I think its days are numbered. A repair man told my husband that they don't make parts for it any more and to just buy a new one once it is unusable. My husband is looking for a 2017 or older used Speed Queen for me. He found one but it was super expensive (and it was 17 years old). The lady selling it knows that people want the older ones. I saw the bad reviews on Youtube and I'm hesitant to get a 2018 so I'm really curious about your new machine. Good luck. I hope it works out for you and that you love it. Please let us know.

I'm just sick over the closing of Elder-Beerman. So many sweet memories of shopping there, clear back to my bridal registry days. Very sorry to see them go. I have good memories of shopping there as well. It was my mom's favorite store. I remember going to Elder-Beerman and Rike's with my mom and grandmother during Downtown Dayton Day. It was a day when all of the stores (when there were actually retail stores downtown) had big sales. I also remember going to Elder-Beerman with mom so she could pay her store charge card bill at the customer service desk. That was back in the day when she had a "plate" as she called it. It was a charge card made of some sort of metal not plastic.

As others have said, I'd be looking for something else. Stat! In the meantime I would be saving as much money as I could just in case they let me go.
I'm sorry to hear that you are in this situation. It must be stressful.

My mom passed away 6 months ago and her funeral/burial was around $11,000. She already had the plot. My dad passed away three years ago and was cremated. Mom insisted that his urn be put in her casket and they be buried together so that's what we did. Dad and mom were penny pinchers even after they died!
When I was growing up both sets of my grandparents died one by one and they were buried next to each other. I grew up thinking that all families bought plots right next to each other! It wasn't until I was a young adult that I realized my grandparents were the exception not the rule! Duh. When my dad's parents went to buy plots they asked my mom's parents if they would like to get plots too, right next to each other. They all agreed and bought a total of 12 plots. They got a discount because they bought so many next to each other. All of my grandparents were death penny pinchers too!

librarylady that's how my mom made it too - dipping white bread into egg mixture, cooking it and sprinkling it with cinnamon and sugar. She would mix the cinnamon and sugar together and put it in a special sprinkle container. I think it was a very early Tupperware container. She also put butter and syrup on the French toast. It's about the only decadent thing she made (well, pineapple upside down cake but that's for another thread). It's how I make it for my kids.

When I was a teen I worked in a snack bar at at a pool and ice rink. This was in the 80's. I worked my behind off making popcorn, hot dogs, cotton candy, shaved ice cones, changing tanks on the drink machine, serving people, closing out the register and then cleaning everything up. Many shifts I was by myself. I made minimum wage. The thought never crossed my mind (or any of the other employees) to get a tip or have a tip jar out.
No, I don't tip at quick service restaurants and I don't at the ice cream shop, coffee shop etc. And, I don't feel bad no matter if it is an adult or teen working the job. Tipping had gotten out of hand and I wish it would stop.

The older couple who lived in the house directly across from mine painted their house purple. Not a bright purple. It didn't bother us at all. When the house sold the new owner painted over the purple with brown.

I detest the "buy 5 save 5" type sales at Kroger. Gah! I'm usually shopping with at least two kids and they are talking and asking for stuff and wondering off. Trying to keep track of them and figuring out if I have the correct 5 items in the correct size with the correct variety etc. is so overwhelming that sometimes I just don't even try to fulfill the store's demands. I'd much rather shop at Aldi's, Wal-Mart or Costco. Unfortunately, Kroger is the most convenient.
