I ordered several things on December 30. They are set for delivery next Monday... January 9. This is ridiculous!

I'm done with cookbooks (famous last words!). There is just so much available online, and I end up googling most recipes anyway.

I haven't had 2 day shipping in a couple years - before COVID, so that can't be the excuse. It takes a week or longer sometimes. Never ever in two days.
But yet, I can order from Walmart and Target (don't have a membership, but do have a Target credit card) and that stuff is always here in one or two days. Ships free if I order over $35 from WM - Target ships free because of the credit card. So ... eh... Amazon kind of frustrates me with that. I am making more of an effort to not buy from Amazon.
If it wasn't for Prime and the free Kindle book every month - I would dump it.

I haven't had to call 911 in many years. Had to call for a car accident that I witness way back in the late 80's.
I do call my local law enforcement Comm Centers. I live really near the county line between three counties. When I want a specific sheriff, I call that county's Comm Center. We had a combine/corn field fire starting and wanted a certain fire department dispatched, and if I had called 911 it would have taken much longer to get them in motion. We wanted a quick attack truck sent out ASAP from the closest FD and if I had called 911 it would have taken a lot longer to get things right and in motion (also knew the guy who drove the Quick Attack - so my husband was on the phone with him, but I called the Comm Center so he could get the official page). He was rolling our way before the page even went out to him. Lordy - those situations are S T R E S S F U L .... the adrenalin is pumping, as we are fighting the fire and trying to get our local department on the scene ASAP!
Around here, the ambulance response time is going to be a while. So, unless I am actively doing CPR or can't physically get the person in a vehicle, I'm loading them up and headed to the closest ER. I call ahead and tell them I am coming in. I have those numbers pre-programmed in. Luckily - nothing has ever been super serious for us.

NOPE! We had enough expenses in 2022, so we had some major bills (chemical, fertilizer and a major machinery repair) deferred to January. So I am looking at writing about writing 170K in checks on Tuesday. Yea.

DH & I tried. We just could not get past some of the absolute ridiculous 'ranching' practices. Granted, we don't ranch on a big spread in Montana, and we are farmer/ranchers - so that's a whole 'nother ball of wax. BUT - oh lord! I think it was the first episode, and they stopped to 'rescue' a calf being born. They jumped the fence, yanked the calf out by hand and the calf jumped up and sprinted away. WTF - that's not how it works. AT ALL. I laughed and told DH to rewind it, because it looked like a week old calf and possibly was born with the ear tag (not, but yea...ridiculous)
And the violence. I just don't care for it.

I use a very old Microsoft program called Money. I think it was MS Money. You can still download it. It's free.
It is so simple to use, and I have been using it for probably 20 years. I do download my bank transactions. This way I can make sure I have my numbers right... I have a lot of numbers! Jeepers - I about loose my $h!t this time of year. I get all my income/expenses broken down and sent to my CPA before the end of the year so he can estimate for us... Then we know what we need to spend to keep us in the tax bracket we want to stay in.
Since I need to categorize all my expenses - this works great. I have had my categories set up for years - so when I enter the payee - it automatically sets the category (I can edit it if I need to) But when I enter my fuel supplier, it automatically puts it in my FUEL category.
Reports are super easy to print out. It's simple, but it works so good!

If no one is driving after drinking - enjoy the fun!
I have never made alcohol a taboo in my house. I let my kids drink alcohol from a fairly young age (15-16 ish) at home. Maybe a half glass of wine, or a cold can of beer after baling hay. That is not illegal in my state - as long as they are at my home under my supervision. I NEVER let anyone else's kids have any alcohol though. This was strictly when they were doing things with us as family time. I felt that by not making alcohol taboo - they would not go absolutely nuts when they did have access to it unsupervised. And that approach worked! My kids have always been responsible about drinking. Not that they didn't do their fair share of partying - but they made sure to be with trusted friends and to Uber or call for a ride.
There have been a few NYE parties at my house, thrown by my kids. No one drove home. The deal was that they had to hang out with me for a while the next day and have brunch... LOL
My kids are all adults now and their friends frequently drop by when they are in the area. We really developed a deep friendship with all of them. Now the talk is of careers, weddings, babies and life. OH the JOY!
Embrace this experience!

I have been using a similar bag for several years! I have to order new ones every so often, because they get repurposed for so many thing, I suddenly don't have enough to take shopping! Things I use mine for: • Organizing my freezer - I sort my beef into roasts, steaks, ground beef in these totes. Also sort off chicken, pork, etc. This way I can just pull out totes to get to what I need and not have things slide. •Crock pot carriers. I move a lot of food around during harvest, and it gets tough to carry crock pots when they are hot. I put my crock pots in these, and just grab the long handles to carry. • "To Go" bag. Since I am always hauling meals out to the shop or other locations (plus I am the truck driver for all the grain) - I keep one of these packed with my forks, napkins, plates, cups, and condiments. This way I can just run in and grab it! • Laundry! I now use a couple of these for sorting socks, etc. So handy! I have found a bigger version that I use for laundry baskets, that makes it easier to haul my laundry up. I have a basement laundry and our bedrooms are on the 2 floor. I'll link those below! •Winter car kit - I keep a small blanket, some water bottles, granola bars and hand warmers in a tote in my pickup, incase I get stuck in the snow and need to hang out of a bit! Oh gosh - I just use them for EVERYTHING! I had a wrapping kit in one before Christmas - tape, scissors, bows, tags, etc. XL Collapsible totes - great for Laundry!

I also hope for mild symptoms and speedy recoveries for everyone.
I think it is our new normal. I escaped everything for over 2 years. I got really sick before the "Pandemic" officially was on the books, but I am so sure I had Covid. I can actually trace the steps back to a person traveling to the US from Europe and finally ending up with me - through MANY steps along the line.
But mid-December my DH and I both got wacked again. I did not test. We both felt pretty rotton for a couple days, then tired for a couple weeks. We are isolated in our lives anyway, and while we were sick, we passed on going out with friends, etc.
But I think Covid is here to stay. I am hoping it is milder and not lethal, but things are sometimes, depending on your overall health.
I was interested to see that the Spanish Flu is actually still going around. Much milder, but still strains of it.
It's time to not be afraid, but also please learn from our past and STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK! Good golly.

I wish people knew how to get along! Yes, you have your political and religious beliefs. I have mine. They are probably not the same, but I'm a nice person. I can respect your need to believe what you believe. Respect mine, and leave your options out of general conversation. Seeing people blame Trump or blame Biden for the most RANDOM shit that has nothing to do with the conversation or occasion at hand. WTF do you need to say that now?

Charging cords are way better than the genuine Apple ones.
I have bought a few other things and been very happy with them. I need to check out the batteries.
I think almost any clothing, especially as you go to larger sizes is really off. I read the sizing chart carefully and measure myself. What size I wear sometimes is completely off from what the sizing chart on that item shows.

Oh! I'm going to see what he does. Not that I'm going to try it from some random but I can check with my pediatrician to see if it's ok. Makes it go down easier. I'd 100% verify with pediatrician and/or pharmacists! Here is his website. He has TONS of great info!! Phil's My Pharmacist

Thankfully his doctor told me that I can split an adult Tylenol or Motrin and crush it to give him pain and fever relief. There is a pharmacist that makes TikTok videos, and he has been showing how to correctly make a suspension of powdered antibiotic from capsules for children. How to get the correct does, and how to mix it in a strawberry or chocolate syrup to make it palatable. This has been an ongoing shortage for quite a while. Hope your tot is feeling better soon!

A couple months ago I bought a new Keurig and the descale light is already on, won’t turn off for anything - have descaled it twice. Do I dare try another machine, or try something different?? The descale light came on a few months ago, so I did the descaling process- twice because the light stayed on. It's still on now. As long as she keeps working, I'll descale her every few months and keep using her til she dies. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a Keurig that has the descale light on regardless of how I clean it. I ignore it. I really love my Keurig. I've been through a few over the years, but I don't want to change. I also had the Descale light on, on my new K-Supreme. I love this model, but I could not get the Descale light to go off no matter how many times or ways I descaled... .so I read the instructions. Last ditch effort, I know... but it worked! Here are the instructions - and you have to follow them to-the-letter! It took a couple of tanks of clean water brewed (after following the cleaning instructions EXACTLY) and the descale light went out! Just dumping cleaner in and brewing, then rinsing did not shut the light off - all the steps have to be followed! Keurig Descale Instructions - FOLLOW EXACTLY!

We only have barn kitties and one dog at the farm now. They all have access to very warm shelter and always fresh water.
We upped our feed for the cattle on stalks. Started day before yesterday with extra feed and also made sure they came up to water. They have wind shelter and can move to different locations depending on the wind. It is quite amazing how they instinctually protect themselves. We just need to make sure they have plenty of energy (through high quality feed) and always fresh water. DH is out in the -14º (actual temp) making sure everything is fed, watered and sheltered. It's a very hard day on him!

Neither myself or DH have any. 1 of my kids has at least one and I wasn't pleased when I saw it. Grown adult though, so that is their choice. They knew I was displeased, so if they have anymore, I haven't seen it.

I have a friend who dumped her fiancé for a guy she met at CrossFit. They are married to each other now, have a few kids and are super happy. Both still majorly into CrossFit together. All in all - it was a good choice. I didn't see the other relationship as a healthy one.

I only use Crisco in my chocolate chip cookies and they always are a hit! I use Butter Crisco, and use the (old) Crisco cookie recipe. They changed the ratio of flour in it a couple years ago. I couldn't figure out why the cookies that were always so good, now were ... not. I would just use the recipe card that came in the package of butter crisco sticks. Then I dug out an old one that I had saved, and voila! The recipe changed! Back to the old recipe and all is good.
I have a couple other cookie recipes, including my yummy sugar cookie recipe that I use half butter and half butter crisco in. Yummy - with cream cheese frosting on them. So soft and perfect sweet. Not hard and crunchy.

Not a big fan of peanut butter blossoms or whatever they are called with the Hershey kiss in the middle. Peanut Butter Blossoms must only be made with Brach's stars. Hershey kiss isn't right. Please don't pile the peanut butter cookies and mint cookies on top of other cookies on the cookies tray. Biting into a gingersnap cookie with essence of mint and peanut butter is just gross! Peanut butter cookies need to be sealed away in their own container for sure! They overtake every other item!

THere are quite a few Facebook groups dedicated to sublimation. I have converted an Epson printer, but I honestly don't do it much. One of those things I wish I had not though I needed You sound like you would have more of a use for it though. Remember you need sublimation blanks. The items have to be specially coated - you can't just sublimate onto anything. Cups, signs, etc - have to be sublimation ready. Not hard to find blanks though! Any shirts, etc. need to be polyester - or at least have a high poly count. The poly count needs to be the highest number in the shirt, if it is a blend. You would need a heat press that goes to 400º to sublimate. Some have mug and cup adapters. Some do cups in a dedicated convection oven (but you don't want to use your own kitchen oven).

I have weird well water. I can get rust stains and other 'gunk'. Best thing: Iron Out. I use it in my washing machine (also to soak whites to get them back to WHITE), in my toilets (I put some in the tank and some in the bowl and let it set for a while) and in my dishwasher. It's a powder and I can find it at WalMart in the Plumbing area. Sometimes in the Laundry area also.

But I can't quit the job I have now. They keep finding me, dang it. I hauled a lot of grain this fall, and have been enjoying the last few weeks of staying in my house and ignoring the world!

Somehow I started buying my DH Fiestaware for Christmas. Usually something small and cute. I saw where they are coming out with shot glasses! Perfect, I thought. They are like S10.00. But when you add the shipping and handling, the postage is more than the product!! Vent over! You have to commit! Order more and get the free shipping! $95! I had some in my cart, but I backed out, because I didn't have enough to get the free shipping - and they are so cute, but I don't want to pay that much right now. I really want the little plate fridge magnets, and if they had those available, I might splurge. I know sometimes they have a better deal on shipping, so I hope I can hit the jackpot on that sometime.

This is heartbreaking. You have gone above and beyond in your friendship and love. What a kind loving person you are to have done what you have already and what you continue to want to do.
I have someone in my life that is an alcoholic beyond help. I think the brain chemistry is just beyond repair.
Be honest. It's the best way to go, always. It's not the easiest, but in the end, honesty is easier for you to live with. Tell her that the trip just can't happen. You know she can't stop drinking, and it is more than you can handle to help her on the trip. You love her, you love her enough to be truthful.

I remember when my daughter was young, and she always had a terrible barky cough when she would catch something. My doctor prescribed cough syrup with codeine - mostly so she would sleep. ugh..yea...no. That did not work. Whoa. I still remember how wired she was. Didn't stop the cough at all either.
