But I have a lot on hand already. I love their foaming soaps!

I peel a lot of potatoes.
I use russets for mashed potatoes and I always peel them. I use red or yellow creamy potatoes for garlic mashers, and I half peel them - I cut out the knotty spots and peel anything that looks yucky.
I peel for most potato casserols.
I go through a LOT of potatoes! I make regular mashed potatoes 2 or 3 times a week, or more in the winter.
For baked potatoes, I use russets and a wash them and dry them, then oil lightly and put a sprinkle of salt on them and bake right on the oven rack.

For me it would probably come down to cost.
I don't have a ton of carpet in my house. I have original wood floors, and a few area rugs. My steps are carpet.
I have 2 sharks. The one I use upstairs, where there is very little carpet and mostly bare wood floors is a Shark Apex liftaway. It is very light and almost like a stick vac - but a little better. It was about $200 when I got it. I LOVE it. It does so well on bare floors, but also great on carpet.
I am pretty faithful about cleaning the filters, which I think is key to them working right. I take out the foam filter and tap it clean outside, but I also wash it clean about once a month. That keeps the dust out of it, and I think the key to the vacuum performing well.
I am so happy with my Sharks, and the price point is right for the quality. I could buy about 6 of them, for the price of a Riccar.

You can download the Silhouette Studio software for free and use it on your own computer. You can design and save your files and take them on a drive to the Library. You have to have a computer. It will not work on iPad, phones, etc. It needs either Windows or Mac OS. •With the free basic software - you can only save in the Silhouette proprietary format of .studio. But since you will be using it with Silhouette Studio at the Library, that will work perfectly fine! You can use your own fonts that are installed on your computer with the Studio software. You can import .studio files - some bloggers have them for free. The Silhouette Design Store offers a few freebies, and you can get the Freebie of the Week also. You can purchase files in the .studio format from the Design Store, and they are usually around .99. More for more complex 3D type and sticker files. •To use SVG files, you need to upgrade the free software to Designer Edition - which the Library must have done, since they say SVG files are compatible. It's around $50, and I think it might be on sale for a little less at Swing Design - but the free one will be sufficient for you now. • You can trace JPG files. The higher the resolution, the better the trace. You can open PNG files - and they will auto-trace with the current software (even the free one). But double check the cut lines. It only traces areas that have the transparent background around it. If the PNG has internal parts that are different colors, and there isn't a transparent boundary around them, the auto-trace doesn't pick that up. You can do everything with the software on your computer, except cut, if you don't have a machine at home. But you can make AMAZING printables. It is actually a pretty easy to use software that can do impressive things -even the free version. You can PRINT from it at home on your own printer! I find myself doing more "just print" projects from it than actually sending things to my cutter to cut it. If doing printables at home - just make sure you set your page size to match what you are printing on. The software defaults to 12x12 page size, so if you print on 8.5x11 - switch it to that. It can be a little daunting at first, but once you grasp the software - it is really simple! I use it to design and print all my cards now. Here is a link to the software (free) download . www.silhouetteamerica.com/software

I know what you mean about being used to software that you love and want to keep using. I still like a very old Microsoft program (Digital Image Suite) .. I figured out how to install it on my Windows 11 computers! LOL I still hang on to it. I do use Lightroom from my iPhone and other programs to do a lot of things, but I still return to DIS. I wish they had never discontinued that program!

I bought Tencel sheets from Amazon. Oh wow - we love them. My DH hated some microfiber ones I bought once, and it seems like a lot of other sheets just wear out fast (yes, they were cheap! LOL). I bought these and my DH said " I love these sheets!" They feel cool in the summer and nice in the winter. They don't stick to you. The jersey sheets just felt to clingy to me. I also have some Brooklinen sheets on a different bed and those are very nice too. Amazon Tencel sheets

Official statement is that she is on a vent while they decide which of her organs will be donated. However can she, with cocaine in her system? I am no expert, so correct me if I am off base, but I think when they are on life support, things are filtered pretty well. I don't know what it can take out. But when my sister was kept on life support for several days so her child could come say goodbye, the organ transfer team said this was a good thing, as far as organ transplant. She had an aneurism.

I have an older Epson scanner that has a slide insert. Works great. I got it out to use recently, and I could still get it to work with Windows 11, even though it is ancient! I would guess they have newer models. I can put 4 slides in a carrier, insert that in the scanner and it scans each picture separately, so it creates a file for each slide. I can adjust the DPI. I scan at 300 DPI, since that is the standard, and anything larger really isn't necessary. It makes a high quality image. 4 at a time isn't the fastest, but if you are, say reading the 2Peas board, you can just keep swapping slides and get quite a few done in a sitting. It can also scan photo film. Something I would check out is an app called Photomyne. You can hold up a slide and use your iPhone to 'scan' it. You can demo it for free. I think the purchase for the full functionality would be necessary to do a project, but you could fiddle with it to see if it was anything close to what would work for you. Photomyne for iPhone

I had deep cracks and very dry hard skin on my heels, and I did the Baby Foot Peel.
Lordy. It was beyond comprehension. I try to do that at least once or twice a year now, and my heels stay soft and no longer have the heavy hard edges that crack.
Mine were NOT bleeding or open. I did have some discomfort from them, but is was minimal. But the cracks looked deep, and since I wear sandals all summer and work outside - ugh. It was disgusting looking.
I followed the Baby Foot Peel instructions to a letter. I soaked my feet for quite a long time, then put the peel bags on my feet and left them for an hour (maybe a bit longer). You can't really walk well then - so plan on watching TV or reading a book. I put big socks on over them. It seems to make them hug my feet better and if I did have to walk - it made it a little easier.
Then, after about a week, the dead skin started to peel off. Oh Lord that first time was just WOW. The gunk that came off my heels was astonishing! Just crazy. Don't force it off, let it come of naturally. I did start to peel off a bit after a while, but I didn't try to go to far. I did use a good heel pedicure file after I had soaked to get the heavy stuff off.
Now that I do the peels on a regular basis - no more dried cracked skin on my feet!
Amazon has the Baby Foot Peel. I think they are around $25. You get a bag that goes on each foot. Worth it!

It grows in Iowa! It's way to late now, but you could try next year.
I have had mixed results. Keeping the right amount of water has been my issue.
It likes a sandy soil.

I suffered from PF for quite sometime. It would feel like a knife stabbing up my heel. It hurt when I stood up after sitting. It would reduce in pain after I moved a bit, but still painful enough to limit my activity. I first experienced it when I was pregnant. I did the heel stretches recommend by my doctor religiously and took anti-inflammatory. It eventually went away. I was much younger, and stuff seems to heal better when you have less years! It came back a few years ago. Oh man. It just made me miserable. I tried different shoes, and NEVER went barefoot. I was at Walmart and saw these and thought, it's cheap - what could hurt. Cushioned Arch Supports I got relief almost overnight. Seriously! And I am not one to think things like this actually work. I wore the bands 24/7 for about a week, then just started wearing the band on the foot that still had a little pain during the day. I have zero issues now, and have not for a couple years. It was life changing! I don't know if it works for everyone - but I still recommend them to try. I bought some extra on Amazon, and they are super thin and do nothing - but the thicker ones really made a difference for me. Good shoes are still a great idea though!

I also think I thought I could change the things he needed changed When I was about 16, someone very wise told me Men go into a relationship/marriage thinking the Woman will never change. Women go into the relationship/marriage thinking they can change the Man. Neither one will happen. That really made an impact on me. I wasn't keen on marriage as a young person, so I wasn't looking for a husband. But when my DH proposed, I accepted, because I knew he was someone I could live with the rest of my life and not want to change.

Uncomfortable and under-powered. Ha! Underpowered is an understatement! Ours was a 5 speed, and I had to shift to 4th to pass a car! I went to a track meet once, and it was SO windy that day - I honestly had to shift to 4th to keep up highway speed going into that headwind. One of our friends also had a PT Cruiser (bought it before we did). Their daughter rolled it with 5 girls in there. Seriously rolled it - one girl came out with a sprained wrist, that was it. Also knew someone else who's kid flipped one end over end - decimated the car. Kid walked away. I couldn't believe that piece of crap tin can could be that safe, but they were!

At what temperature do rubber tires melt? I had to google it! 1000º is when they melt. 350º will start to degrade them. We used to use used tires to cover our silage pile plastic. We had tires that had to have been from the 1920's or 30's up there. They were a skinnier tire, but damn. They were heavy! The newer the tire - the lighter it was. We have switched to mesh tube sandbags. That is SO much better. Those tires would be full of water and raccoon poop. Mice and worse would pop out when you were heaving them on the plastic. One of the worst jobs ever.

What is the podcast called? Thank you. The podcast is called You're Wrong About. It is not related to the NYT editorials. It's an interesting podcast, but I have a hard time staying with it, solely because I don't care for the hosts vocal fry... that's just me. It is a well researched podcast. I was also wrong when I picked out my PT Cruiser. Oh boy! We had so much fun with our PT Cruiser, but what a piece of garbage. It had a hell of a run for us. Had to do a few major repairs to it, but it made it through me and then two kids... I think every kid in their school learned how to drive a stick in that thing. It survived two 14 year old drivers! HA! I told my daughter I swore she hit 4 gears up and 4 gears down coming up our lane, which isn't that long! It was such a dog in the snow/ice. I mean a DOG! We finally put studded snow tires on it. I still hear stories from my kids and their friends. Oh lord. I'm glad I didn't know at the time! Sold it with over 100K on it.

But still, CNN just showed a map and says it will be 113 in Phoenix! omg Do we have any Peas from that area? That's not unusual. And, we may say we're a bit better off than Europe because of our AC but what about when the electricity fails as it's doing in more than one city because of the demand? I have a big tank of diesel and PTO generators! But I sure hope I don't need it. It's not too hot here. We have had some warm days, but that's the case every summer. It's only 86 now, with 33% humidity. Which is AMAZING. And we had baling hay! PERFECT! We usually have super high humidity and higher temps. Sometimes it is almost hard to breath. I survived a lot of years without A/C - and I mean NO A/C, not a window A/C or anything. I remember one week it was so damn hot at the end of July. It was 110 outside and just over 100º inside my house. NO A/C, just fans. And humid. And I had 3 little kids to try and keep cool along with helping my husband trying to keep cattle cool with misters, so they didn't die. We survived. It sucked, but we survived and so did the people that came before us. I swear we are all pussy's now - I am not going to lie - I love having central air in my house now. It never seems as hot as it used to get! LOL

I live out in the country, so I usually hear someone drive up.
I did get a driveway alarm, so I get a ding-dong when someone comes up my lane. I like that. I don't open the door to JW or salesmen.
I get hunters, and they are always non-local. I politely tell them no, that our ground is not open for public hunting. Most are polite and leave. If they give me a hard time, I just shut the door and tell them the laws coming if they don't leave.

I get a Starbucks maybe once or twice a month. The only one anywhere close to me is inside a grocery store I seldom go to anymore.
I loved Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew.
The last couple times I have gotten one - blah. It wasn't as good. I noticed that the barista could now just pull it from a tapper built in to their counter. She said they used to make it themselves, and then mix it with water, etc. Now they just get it in a keg and pull it from the tap.
It doesn't taste great to me anymore. I don't get that "coffee" hit from it.
Is it my store? I know when I order from different Starbucks, the drinks don't always taste the same? Or did their kegging it ruin it?

Soooooooo happy with my choice. It actually brews hot AND you can choose super hot. I also get a full 8oz. It doesn't take time to warm up or make that horrible noise. I purchased a new Keurig Supreme this summer. It has 3 heat settings, and 3 strength settings. That really makes a difference. Quieter and it pokes multiple holes in the top of the Kcup and brews differently than the older models.

I have yet to find a K-cup that makes (IMO) a decent cup of coffee. Our answer was to switch to a Nespresso machine. Much better coffee options. Now I'll take my coffee opinion and go hide in the corner because nearly everyone I know has them and thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread! I do love my Keurig - but not all KCups. DH likes Newman's Own, and I find it undrinkable. He does like creamer in his. He says it's not great without it, but is perfect with it. My overall go-to KCup is McDonalds. It doesn't taste bitter to me. Lavazza is excellent too. I switch back and forth between them. But Starbucks and Dunkin both are on the NO list for me, in KCups. I really would like a Nespresso machine. But I would still keep my Keurig. I brew a lot of pitchers during harvest and planting season. My grain truck is the mobile coffee shop out in the field. LOL I brew into an insulated heated pitcher using 2 or 3 Kcups.

We farm & ranch. I could blow through that pretty fast! lol
Just kidding, sort of. It's amazing when I finish up the books at the end of the year how much money was spent. Eeeks. Definitely in the mid 6 figures most years.
But just purchasing a brand new combine with corn and bean heads would be close to 1 million. We generally never buy brand new machinery.

I have well water, so everything white tends to get an orange tinge or just looks dingy in general. I use Iron Out powder. I fill my washer part way with HOT water and add a half cup or more of Iron Out. I agitate it, then add my whites. I add more water if it needs it. I agitate for a couple minutes then turn off and let soak (some HE machines won't fill and won't soak). I let it finish the cycle after soaking an hour (or however long I forget about it) and then let it do the full cycle with rinse. I can find Iron Out in the plumping area of WalMart. Weird - but that's where it is. I also put in in my toilet to remove rust stains. I go back and wash regular after that, since the Iron Out smells a bit funky. But it sure makes things WHITE again!

Blue Corn is a flint corn, and it is used mostly for making tortillas. I have heard it is sweeter. But it is not a sweet corn that you would eat off the cob. It is something you would grind into masa.
I am a commercial dent corn farmer, so I might not have all my facts on blue corn straight! lol I do grow some sweet corn, for our personal use - but we pretty much gave that up.

ON my first watch I was aghast. But I think I need more video and context of what is going on. At first glance it does seem that the 'monster' is skipping over the girls and shaking his hands in a 'no' manner.
He high-fived the lady before them, then immediately shook his 'no' finger at her (she is white) and it seemed it was continuing the 'no' movements as it walked along... so what gives.
Her comments say that it hugged the little white girl next to them, but the video doesn't show it. So I don't know.
I have been burned to many times by only seeing a small sampling of the video and having the context skewed because of this.
At least I really hope its not as bad as it looks!
Edit to add this from Sesame Place. Honestly - how can people even see much out of those costumes!
On Monday, the park — which is one of the two Sesame Street–themed parks owned and operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment — issued a statement apologizing for the incident, which it characterized as a misunderstanding. “The costumes our performers wear sometimes make it difficult to see at lower levels and sometimes our performers miss hug requests from guests,” the statement said. It also stated that the person inside the costume “confirmed that the ‘no’ hand gesture seen several times in the video was not directed to any specific person,” claiming that it was “a response to multiple requests from someone in the crowd who asked Rosita to hold their child for a photo which is not permitted.” The statement continued, “The Rosita performer did not intentionally ignore the girls and is devastated about the misunderstanding.”

Nursing home care just scares me now. We have a local nursing home, and for years it was the gold standard. Absolute fantastic staff. It was clean and kept modern in decor.
So many awesome activities for the residents. Outings for those who could go, interesting entertainment brought in. My kids would play piano once a month there with their piano teacher.
The food was excellent, and they had a happy hour before supper, so if the resident was cleared to have alcohol, they could have a favorite drink or wine.
Now - oh lord. The staff has quit in droves. Many of the showers and plumbing doesn't work. Our friend said his wife was on the toilet for 37 minutes after calling for help to get back to her bed (she is in for rehab).
For my friends wife, who is there rehabbing a broken leg, it is $9000/month. And she isn't there for specialized care, like a Memory Unit type care, which is more.
Oh my lord.
It is a corporately owned home, and all the money leaves our town. Employees are treated terribly and pay is poor.
I have talked to a few that quit. They worked there from age 16. Earning CNA, then RN and BSN degrees while working there. One told me her hair was falling out, the stress of the working conditions and knowledge of how bad it was getting was more than she could take. She quit and was awarded unemployment.

Oh the grey floors... I admit they did look pretty, but now I see them as so trendy and will be expensive to replace as the trend is starting to die down.
I do like the lighter wood floors that keep the wood tone, but have just a hint of a bleached tone. Not really grey or white, but just a wash of that tone. Plus those are so much easier to keep looking good, as compared to a deep rich tone.
I don't like seeing a lot of differing wood tones. I was looking at kitchen flooring a few years ago (before grey was all that!) and realized I needed to not look at anything wood. I have original wood floors throughout my house, except for the kitchen. They do have a bit of an orange tone, but more of the old red oak tone. My kitchen cabinets are new oak, but I custom matched the stain to match the oak doors in my house (all floors and doors/trim) is 90+ years old. I still love my floors and cabinets. It stands the test of time. I made sure my cabinets were made in the style of the house. No rounded lines in them anywhere.

Man. This makes me laugh! I can't stand hogs, and to think you can rent one for a party! My neighbors sows got out one day. I walked out of my house and the biggest sow I had ever seen in my life was looking back at me. My neighbor told me I could keep it. Ah, no thanks!
