I've been looking at stand mixers. I have a couple of recipes that would be easier to make if I had one but I am not intending on doing a lot of baking or bread making. I know that Kitchen Aid is the gold standard of stand mixers, however, I don't want to spend that kind of money on one and frankly, don't think I need one. I could keep using my hand mixer (which works just fine for what I do) but a stand mixer would be kind of nice. So if you something besides a Kitchen Aid I'd really like to hear your thoughts on what you have. Thanks!

This is Ricky, nicknamed Hangover (cause he hangs over all the cat beds we have). He was a stray when we took him in and is around 12 years old and 16 lbs. He is one of five we currently have in residence. He loves to be combed and catnip and hides if anyone beside DH and I are in the house (our cat sitter swears he doesn't really exist because she never sees him). His mortal enemies are squirrels. If one is in the tree out front you'd think the house was under attack. He runs from window to window watching the squirrel, pawing at it trying to get out. One time he managed to knock the screen out of the window and almost got out. Luckily I saw it happen and was able to catch him before he got too far. Now we keep the windows in the front closed at all times. He's a good kitty most of the time.

Not in Indy but in Anderson just north of there. Try McCordsville, Greenwood, or Fishers (some parts more reasonable than others). Carmel is very expensive. Downtown is up and coming and very popular with the younger crowd especially around Fountain Square, Mass Ave area and Broadripple. My husband is a big race fan and works part time for IMS. What team is your son working for?

DH and I have been married for 30+ years and we don't exchange gifts on birthdays or Christmas. We either buy what we want ourselves or put the money in the vacation fund. It's not weird at all.

Sadly, I've had to give up coffee because it interferes with my sleep. At first I tried to only drink it in the morning, then I went to half-caf, then to decaf. Even that small amount of caffeine makes a difference to me. Giving it up wasn't as hard as I thought. I do occasionally miss it but not enough to give up a good night's sleep. FWIW I'm almost 60.

In about three weeks DH is having all of his upper teeth and four lower teeth pulled in order to get dentures and a partial. The oral surgeon says that it will take about eight weeks for his gums to heal and then the dentist start on some temporary replacements. Obviously, during that eight weeks (and possibly longer) he'll have to have very soft food. I need some ideas for some nutritional food like smoothies or egg dishes or such. If it were up to DH he'd eat pudding or jello the entire time but I'd really like to get something more nutritional in him on a regular basis. He is not a fan of green smoothies with kale or spinach. FWIW I do have a very good blender.
Also, what else do we need to think about while he's going through this process? The dentist said it will be six months before everything is completely healed and finished. I've never known anyone that has had this many teeth pulled at the same time so I'm not sure what to expect (except a very grumpy husband with a sore mouth). And ideas and advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Fasting is like building muscle. You wouldn't (I hope) jump into weightlifting by doing 45 minutes with 25 lbs weights. I started by delaying breakfast and hour or two at a time. Then I worked on not breaking my fast until lunch time. I haven't read Gin's book but I listen to her podcast. IIRC she likes bullet proof coffee. I am not a fan of it myself but if it helps you get started then use it. I have also found that I have to eat low carb in order to fast longer. If I eat too many carbs before fasting I get hungry very quickly and struggle. Eating low carb/keto helps to keep me satiated and I can fast longer. Good luck!

Umm . . . that's really kind of obvious, in the back. I'm guessing someone you know (or saw) sat in the front and disturbed everyone while leaving.

That is the exact reason that I stopped sending gifts to my niece and nephew. Even when I sent them virtual gift cards via email I wouldn't hear a thing from them (how hard is it to reply to an email??). I stopped and never heard a peep out of them or my brother about it. I vote to stop sending the gifts. I wouldn't bother to address the issue with your brother.

In Indiana you can keep getting the $300 but now you have start proving you are looking for a job. That requirement had been waived during Covid.

I am asking this in a nice, non confrontational way...if multiple people are saying on here that you are coming off as just as obsessive as pjaye was and not portraying yourself in a kind way don't you think maybe that should tell you that you may need to step back from this thread for a bit and then come back and re-read your posts? I know sometimes I can get fixated on a topic but I don't realize it until after it has been brought to my attention. I also know if I was coming off in a negative light I would want to know. Believe me I understand and sometimes when I am in the middle of discussing something I don't realize that I have veered from discussing to arguing. Just a thought for you to do as you want with it. Please show how I’m just as obsessive as pjaye. Other than posting on this thread and answering when I’m tagged, because if that makes *me* obsessed, then every one on this thread who has posted more than a few times is obsessed, too. *What* am I obsessed with, exactly? I’ve had a lot of time to kill at home today, so I’ve been online. I did go back and re-read. It seems that others are projecting onto me, but whatever. I made my points. Some people just don’t like it. Especially the part where I said silence toward racism is complicity. I guess that hit a nerve? If so, good. I asked pointed questions, like when I was accused of “changing the subject” and I was told to “shut up.” Don’t worry; the painters finished up downstairs today and I won’t be stuck upstairs killing time, so I’ll likely go back to lurking here once a month. I rarely post on Two Peas but lurk and read nearly every day. I also have made no comment on this thread. But I agree with Laurie, you are coming across like pjaye. You might not be as obsessed as pjaye but you are acting just like her.

I grew up in Michigan and we only used the term "grounded". I live in Indiana now and still have never heard it called "on restriction".

Last week because I needed to activate my new debit card. We use the one at our bank on a fairly regular basis. We only use our local bank's ATMs so there are no fees. Not sure what they are for out-of-network users.

Quickbooks has a learning curve. If you understand accounting principals you may be okay. If you don't then you might want to rethink the job. There are a number of youtube videos that may help. I've done our company books for years and still had to take a class to learn all the finer points of QB when we switched software.

I ordered some specialty cookies for my mom and dad on December 10th. Last update was on the 18th and USPS said they were in transit somewhere between IL and MI. I'm betting they don't arrive until next week, if at all. Luckily I didn't spend a lot of money on them.

I'll play. Here's mine:
December 17, 2020 In Transit, Arriving Late Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.
December 13, 2020, 7:15 am Departed USPS Regional Facility MILAN IL DISTRIBUTION CENTER
December 11, 2020, 8:38 pm Arrived at USPS Regional Origin Facility MILAN IL DISTRIBUTION CENTER
December 11, 2020, 5:22 pm Departed Post Office WEST BURLINGTON, IA 52655
December 11, 2020, 9:24 am USPS in possession of item WEST BURLINGTON, IA 52655
December 10, 2020, 3:17 pm Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item BURLINGTON, IA 52601
So the way I read this is that my order is stuck on a truck somewhere between Milan, IL and Lansing, MI. It's a small gift for my mom and dad and if it doesn't arrive in time it's no big deal. But it would be really nice if it did!

I Facetime with my parents every couple of weeks. My dad will set the phone on the coffee table while they sit on the couch. I will either see the blinds behind them because it's tilted too high or I only see their bodies because it's tilted too low. Last week dad turned his phone vertical for some reason and I saw half of them on either side of the screen. I guess I can call that progress.

I'm in central Indiana and we normally have like a 20% chance of having a white Christmas. However, I was just watching a long range forecast and they were saying it's possible we may have a snowstorm on Christmas Eve. We aren't doing anything or going anywhere so that would be so cool!

Two of my DGDs are in elementary school and their screen time is upwards of six hours per day. It's an insane amount! They are both really struggling with school and in their home life. They both are starting to have behavior issues and there are days my DD will call me crying over it. I know that the district is trying to keep people safe but these two really need to be in a classroom setting and not online all the time.
