Does anyone have an indoor bike you love? I am looking to use the peloton app on an ipad/tv with a cheaper bike. Reading online, many people like the Suny bikes on Amazon. Would love to hear some pea reviews!

So you think a mom, who works full time, while her kids are in school is out of touch with how working parents are handling distance learning? I just find it ironic you could write that sentence...a working parent who is handling distance learning is out of touch with...how working parents are handling distance learning? Yeah, I do. Her kids are older than 3rd grade and just because she is working/teaching from home doesn’t mean that she understands that her situation is not everyone’s situation. I may be reading into this, but it seems as though you're already bothered by the teacher, prior to this event. It's her job to email about missing assignments, and I don't know a single teacher who hasn't been impacted in some way by this wild school year. Her situation may not be everyone's situation, but I can almost guarantee that something about her situation has changed in a way that she would prefer it had not ;-). Before you really pursue this, I would ask yourself if there is truly an outcome that would make you happier. As it stands, I don't think any response will really make you feel better, and you'll put the teacher on the defensive and make her uncomfortable about something based entirely on hearsay. I would use this as a chance to talk with your son about how to handle comments about his siblings, and let it go.

Echoing those above me, a handwritten note is my first preference. I do like the idea of a brick on a walkway or somehow installed - I have seen a "plaque" that was really more of a mural of branches, with names on the "leaves". I just googled to try to figure out what that might be called and it looks like the website Recognition Art might have some good options.

I don’t have much to add, but sending good thoughts your way. I don’t speak from experience, but think that counseling (individual for her and for you, and family sessions) would be a non-negotiable. You say “she won’t go” - I don’t think it’s an option. She’s causing immense stress on you and other family members. If she intends to live with you any longer, she needs to learn to do so considerately and cooperatively - which would include counseling.

I'm really surprised at the number of people I've heard (IRL and on here) saying they are making cookies or other holiday treats to share with neighbors. I guess this is a two-part poll - first, are you making treats to share, and secondly, would you eat treats shared with you?

Along the lines of small kitchen appliances, how about a small toaster? Or, there are camping grills that are very popular - Blackstone makes a tabletop grill that's really nice.

I would only do that on a non highway drive and if there were a passenger who could look at it the whole time. Did you measure diagonally? It might be better than you think.

I love the bath bombs at Whole Foods. They’re smaller than Lush, and more natural ingredients (I don’t love the dye/floral scents in Lush). They still have nice scents, but not over powering.

No. You can’t teach and babysit all the time, especially not with a newborn coming soon. Time to tell your kids that you can be the “back up” care ONLY.

You can search for hashtags and older posts will come up. They turned off showing the “recent” section in the results. Not great either, but let’s look at what was actually done.

Another first timer here. My goals this week are morning walks all four work days (we’re off Fri) and an added evening mile loop on two of the four. Hoping for a longer walk or hike somewhere new on the weekend!

Starliner is a good call! Their sweet potato fries are delicious. Moretti’s is good Italian - there is one on Sawmill Parkway and one in Upper Arlington. (Would be between Polaris and Franklin Park).
I am going to the Chihuly nights tonight - enjoy!

I would say cafeteria for me if you are stating in person classes in a week or so. Not like social distancing is going to help much when the kids come. If you are only doing virtual teaching... I'd pick classroom. I should have added this! We are starting hybrid, so about ten kids in a room at a time.

I’m a teacher and we head back tomorrow. On Thursday, we received an email that there will be a 15 minute staff meeting “in the cafeteria or virtually, whichever you’re comfortable with!”. It’s a meeting of about 40 people. The email goes on to say that we can socially distance better in the cafeteria than the library, where we normally have staff meetings. This is true, but I’m still a little surprised this is even coming up as an option. I think people will be swayed to do the in person option to please the principal, but may be (hopefully) wrong. Would you go, or watch from your classroom?
Edited to add - we are starting hybrid with kids in two weeks.

We are headed back with a hybrid model. One group Monday/Thursday, one Tuesday/Friday, with alternating Wednesdays. So kids will be at school for 3 days one week and 2 days the following. I’ve served on the district planning committee and it’s been a good experience - upper level admin seems to truly have best interest of all in mind. I’m curious to see the expectations for what is to be posted for kids to work on on their at home days - that should be coming soon. Teachers report next Monday and kids come the week of 8/31.
Can we talk clothes? I am not a huge jeans person (I usually wear them on Fridays, but not usually other days). I did just get some black pants from athleta that I think can go either “athleisure” or dressed up a bit. What have you heard regarding dress code for this year?

The post on package tracking has me thinking about this! I am another pea who could go several days without using the front door and have been known to find a wet package I didn’t realize was there... Love those tracking alerts, especially from Alexa!

What does her continually saying “I’m bored” have to do with her financial status? It would be annoying, certainly, but you seem to be belaboring that element in your post...

At first glance, not that odd. Phenomenal price for the size of the house in this location. Then, you start looking a little more closely and the questions just keep coming! Columbus, Ohio Zillow Listing

I always love reading the craft thread! Finally jumping in and sharing a picture. This is my first - ever needlepoint project. I started it a few years ago, set it aside, picked it back up over winter break, and then all progress went out the window this spring with distance learning 😅. I’m hoping to wrap it up this month! Tried to post the image via Tapatalk - hopefully it works!

So far we have no reduction in income. We have the most money in cash, checking, and savings that we have ever had and we’ve made lots of large purchases like new furniture and appliances. The things that we spend 80% of our income on are not currently available, so we are spending 1/5 of what we usually do every month. The rest of it is just sitting there. I’m curious about this! What do you normally spend the 80% on? I’m just being nosy!

I'm 30 and have been reading 2peas since the summer between 6th and 7th grade. (Yes, really!). Scrapbooking was popular at the time and my friends and I loved looking at Becky Higgins' lettering and sketch pages and postings in the gallery on the old site. I didn't follow NSBR until a few years later, but have been here through high school, college, and now 8 years of teaching!
